First time poster, long time user here. Just had a few questions I was hoping someone could answer. I searched and didn't see them already answered so here goes..... I have a cf rooted SM-G928R4 also unlocked by carried and I was wondering does anyone know if I could use a GSM sim card in this? I was thinking about switching over to straight talk with it. Also does anyone know of any good working custom roms for this model? Thanks
i have this phone unlocked us cellular r4 working perfect on t-mobile lte it should be fine

I know this phone just came out today, but I picked one up with the hopes to use it on T-Mobile (within the 15 day return policy) since I'm month to month on ATT. ATT wasn't equipped to unlock it today and is calling me back next week with the code. I tried various unlock methods but none of the ussd codes work. Anyways, my question goes:
Is anyone working on, or going to work on rooting and AWS unlocking the S4 Active?

As I asked in the other thread...what is the firmware?
It needs to be determined if the Active is being released with patches that would make current exploits unusable. If they patched "motochopper" and they patched "Loki", you might be screwed for a while. The AWS unlock method already posted might work if it doesn't require root but it all depends if the menu options are the same. It could be a huge risk trying it, but it might be the only way to know. Maybe Chainfire's root method could work, but like I said, unless you are willing to try these things (and risk bricking) it's going to take time to find things out about it.
Edit....Ok I saw you posted the firmware I the other thread.... 2 threads about this are confusing.

It seems that it is believed the Loki exploit might work on the Active, but ROOT has not been established yet to try it. t appears the old root exploits have been patched.
anyone has anything for the s4 active yet? i just got one and would like to use it with tmobile as well

Mine works on T-Mobile (ATT unlocked). Without AWS its pointless though.

...but how did you unlock it?
for me it would be ok, as Tmobile DFW has 1900 MHz. not sure if LTE would work though, that would be sweet. Supposedly it's somewhat up and running in DFW

TwoStroker probbly doesn't know otherwise he would have replied by now. Luckily, I can help you. You should call AT&T International Customer Service and have them give you the unlock code.
Once it's unlocked, go into Developer mode and switch your frequencies.
take care!
I've got the AT&T s5 and I love it, but I'd love it MORE if I didn't have to worry about the locked bootloader. I'm tempted to get a Tmobile s5 and root that. Is anyone actually using a Tmobile s5 on AT&T service and if so, how good are the data speeds, is there anything that you can't do with the Tmobile on AT&T, for instance does surfing the web during a phone call work or not, that kind of thing. I very much appreciate any info on this. I know other Tmobile phones are working OK but I need to know obviously about the s5 in particular.
I do know that I will need to get an unlock code for it, no problem there, I do plan to install custom ROMs on it as well.

Yeah, there might be one or two. Thousand. Minimum.
G900T = G900A + two extra bands
Baseband works fine on either system
Lots of existing threads on the subject too

Hey guys. I have and Unlocked and rooted i9505 S4 (at&t branded), currently running the Goldeneye rom. I recently switched to T-mobile and wanted to make use of their wifi-calling feature but even after installing the t-mobile sim card, I dont see an option for wifi calling anywhere.
can anyone suggest a way I can get wifi-calling on my unlocked/rooted at&t branded s4? thanks!
I think you might need to take it to T-Mobile store. From my understanding, it is only for SGH-M919. AT&T phones are not compatible, even if you switch carriers. You may have to flash a T-Mobile Touchwiz rom, not sure. If anyone thinks I'm wrong, feel free to correct me. :cyclops:

Thx for the reply rootnerd! yea thats the problem i'm having... I read that some people got it working with a flashed a T-mobile rom while others said they couldn't. So I was trying to see if anyone could shed some light as to which T-mobile roms with the wifi calling feature could be flashed via safestrap on an at&t phone, because I don't really want to buy a new phone from t-mo just yet

Yeah this is where AT&T users would know the answer. I currently have a T-Mobile S4 but I really don't think it's worth keeping Touchwiz just for WiFi calling. But everyone has there own perspective.
I decided to follow a buddies advise and save $100 and order a verizon s5 instead of ordering a no brand, unlocked one on ebay. it is basically the same phone for specs and what not, just verizon bloated. So, i bought it and called att and got the sim card activated with the phone and now my phone has data and phone. my problelms are this:
I want to get rid of all the bloat stuff
I cant use the tethering on anything because it wants a verizon subscription and i am with att.
my data speed isnt the 4g/LTE that i should be getting. according to the att rep, PROBABLY because it is a verizon phone. i get H+ speed,
which a buddy tells me is basically "3.5G".....lol
i have been able to get root access as one of the fellow techs at the shop is pretty good with this stuff. but he tells me that everything he sees/knows,
it cant be done because of the bootloader they used.
is there anything i can do to be able to do the tethering and get my speeds up? that at least would be suff!! i am a computer tech so i can follow some direction if you
can just point me in the right direction, i would be ever so grateful. thanks in advance....

i have done some research and found this tool called safestrap. LOVING IT! was able to get it installed and working with little to no effort. downloaded a couple of roms and loaded them into a rom slot(not stock) and everything is what i wanted with the exception of my data speed. still cant seem to get the 4g/lte working no matter what. ATT claims it is because it is a verizon phone...most likely. got the bloat stuff off and the tethering is working now. only issues now is the damn data speed. connected to wifi most of the time but when i am not, wow...is it alot slower than usual. any help on that would be great!! thanks again peeps....your site is AWESOME!!!

There's no help to give. You can't get 4G speeds on AT&T or T-Mobile with a Verizon phone.

I read on one site that you can actually switch S5s to other CSC codes by loading the desired stock firmware and using Kies. It said Kies sees the mismatched CSC and uses the one loaded instead of the device's. I haven't tried it, but I was wondering if anyone has?

i have not tried this as i am new to the whole modding my phone thing. would be curious if this would work. i am loving most of the roms on here.
Sorry If I come across as a newbie here, just looking for some help
I had to switch providers, so I paid off the contract on my USC S5, and got a new S5 from Verizon (Don't ask why lol, long story.)
I have a friend who I really want to give this USC phone to, but they are also on Verizon. I need to get her on this phone with her current plan preferably with the SIM she already has I really do hope this is possible, she could really use it.
I need to know how to go about getting it on her network. Do I need to Factory Unlock?
If so, How?
(I don't even know if it is locked)
Phone in question is currently rooted and running Cyanogen Mod 12.
SM-G900R4
16GB
Really do appreciate any input on this. Thank you
