apps stop responding after sometime in Android N - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello after the update to Android N, i have noticed that many apps stop responding after some minutea using them (most of them are streaming apps, like popcorntime, kodi, etc..)
Does anyone got the same problem?
Is there any solution to that?
Thanks in advanced

Anyone?
I got this problem since i updated to Android N..
Example:
When im watching a movie in popcorn time app for Android TV everything its ok, but afer like 30 mins, the subtitles stop and the if i try to pause the app, it stop responding and i have to close it, that didnt happen before with android M
Maybe many apps aren't compatible with Android N yet? Because this happens with some other apps as well..
Anyone got the same problem? Any solution? I already factory reset the mexus player but still the same

This has been ongoing for me too and like you I've already done the factory reset. I think the problem is many of the television apps were written in 2013 and more or less abandoned since then. Even then I've seen it in some of the supposedly updated apps so I'm just not sure...

I'm having kind of the same issue with Kodi after the Android 7 upgrade.
After watching something for 20-30 minutes it starts "buffering", but nothing happens. I have to force shutdown the app and reload it to make use of it again.
Weird part though is that it happens at random. Normally it happens after 20-30 minutes, but sometimes after 10 minutes or a couple of hours..
I'm seriously considering rooting my Nexus Player, just to go back to Marshmallow.

Lots of APP issues with lots of roms

Hi guys,
I'm getting mad with my tablet. I have installed every ROM i could possibly install on my tablet, just to see if the problem went away, and it just won't! No game from Gameloft works on my tablet, it blinks on a weird way on many apps that require some use of 3D effects, and in many times, the apps continues to run but my video freezes and stops working, tough the rest of the tablet continues to work fine.
I don't know what else I can do. Is it something I did or something related to the hardware?

[Q] YouTube hangs / freezes after 30 seconds

Anybody else experiencing YouTube hanging (video stops, audio continues) after around 30 seconds? I've got a brand new S5, so it's not being bogged down by cache or too many apps, so I'm not sure what's going on here.
If I play a video in the YouTube app, the video ALWAYS hangs/freezes around the 30 second mark. I can get it going again if I move the timeline position cursor, but after another 30 seconds, it freezes again.
This happens regardless of network source (data/wifi) and regardless of signal strength (it happens even when I'm right next to my router).
Most everything else I'm loving about the phone, but if this is simply "how it is" with YouTube video, the phone is being returned (which I'd rather not do).
Thanks for any thoughts.
Same here!

Same thing is happening here. Video freezes audio continues. I thought it was originally a coverage/data connection quality issue, but it happens all the time. Only happens with youtube app.

Uninstall updates to YouTube app
This seems to be a problem going around, after the last updates to the YouTube app. Uninstalling the updates and returning to the factory default is reported to be the fix. I'm trying this myself, but haven't given it long enough to find out if the problem will come back.
(I have the attention span of a gnat, I swear, so I thought it would be wise to post this info now, before I forget, rather than waiting.)
I have the same problem on my note 3

Same here on my GS5 G900F... :crying:

Backdrop Not Activating Automatically

Has anyone else had an issue where the backdrop refuses to kick in automatically after the preset time? It simply won't activate for me on its own (neither daydream nor color works). If I manually start it from the settings menu it will launch. I've tried rebooting the device and it still won't work. Any ideas?
UPDATE: I've been doing some troubleshooting, and after uninstalling Plex and rebooting, backdrop starting working again. I then installed Plex again, and it briefly worked, but then stopped.....so I'm wondering if Plex is causing the issue. I suppose the next step is to leave Plex uninstalled for a while and see what happens.
I have the same problem. What happens is the screen just goes black when it is supposed to go on. Like you I can run it manually through the settings. I don't even have Plex installed so I have no idea why it stopped working. I can't understand how there is no simple way to restart the player too...
Based on my experiences so far, it appears that Google rushed this unfinished prototype out to the market. I have so many little problems and find that video playback is choppy at times. This thing needs some attention quickly.

I agree. It definitely seems pretty buggy at this point.
So far, in my case though, it's been running much better since I uninstalled Plex. Also, I was having an issue with the microphone on the remote controller REALLY sucking. It would hardly ever work properly. It would regularly not pick up any of what I said or pick up only the first word or so. BUT, since uninstalling Plex, the microphone has been working perfectly. It's like night and day. I'm going to keep monitoring it, but it seems like Plex was definitely causing this problem for me in addition to my backdrop problem.
With all of that said, perhaps you installed a different app that's causing problems for you?

[Q] Sound Lag

Hello,
I am getting a 1 second sound delay effecting menu and all apps after the device is left on over night, tried factory resetting and with and without sleep mode. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have a solution for me?
Thanks
I was going to say the same thing. I have random one second lag in YouTube (rarely), BSDroid (always), but not in Plex or Kodi. The problem is fixed by pausing in YouTube and jumping forward on BSDroid. It's a big pain as these issues don't affect the chrome cast I have on the same TV and network.
I don't have to wait, it's pretty much out of the box. I have tried stock 5.1.1, rooted 5.1.1, CM12 nightlies, and all AOSP roms available. I feel like it's an issue with the Google Cast app? I'll try 5.1 and see if the situation changes tomorrow.
I haven't even bothered rooting mine yet, as this issue goes right down into the system. Even moving around the menu their is a 1 second delay in the sound. Only goes away with a reboot.
I think I may have found my issue, it seems that when I put the TV into PC mode to fix the overscan I get this sound lag after the TV turns off and then back on again. still troubleshooting it though.
Waited a while to get some new nightlies out and still the same problem. Tried 3 different TVs, all casted audio is delayed and has to be reset. Guess i have a junker now

Unfortunately Android Wear has stopped

Hi all,
I am getting this error constantly on my s7 edge, every 10 or 20 seconds, only way to stop it is freezing with titanium, buy then clearly it makes my smart watch basically useless!
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, both with titanium and play store.
Any ideas? Has worked fine for years...
It does appear to be intermittent, and doesn't seem to matter whether watch connected
Edit: log attached
I've had this a fair bit too... I think it's worse when you're using a heavy watch face. When no using Facer faces I'm generally okay
I just using stock faces...
Anyone? It's so frustrating! I've emailed Google, but not hopeful of a response...
