Hi guys.
Well, a month or two back i updated my imate kjam to WM6 and absolutely love it. Haven't had a single problem up until now.
Last week i did a soft reset on the phone (after installing phonealarm) and it stuck on the wm6 logo boot screen. tried a number of resets, removing the battery etc. finally had to do a hard reset and reinstall everything.
last night a similar thing happened. the phone had turned itself off in my pocket. so i tried a soft reset and got no luck. tried to do a hard reset, got to the screen where you confirm the reset but decided i'd try a few more things before committing to losing everything again.
now i can't do a thing with it. can't even get to the hard reset menu.
i've tried leaving the battery out overnight, tried resetting whilst it's plugged into the charger, everything i can think of. isn't recognised when plugged into the usb port either.
i'm at a total loss. any help / tips would be greatly appreciated, i'd hate to lose everything on my pda, as i used this thing constantly
one weird thing is that when plugged into the charger, i don't see a LED light up to say it's charging??

Is it possible that your battery may be flat?
Can you get into bootloader mode?
can't get into bootloader.
if my battery was flat, would the charging LED light up when it was plugged in?
thanks for the reply.
afer doing some more reading, it looks like it might just well be a dead battery.
apparently, wizard / kjam batteries are notorious for requiring the wall charger to get them going again once they're flat. something about needing 1000ma.
i just checked my charger that came with the unit (ebay), and noticed it only put out 850ma. going to grab my brother's jasjam charger and hope to hell it's 5v 1000ma.
fingers crossed.
i had a similar problem, and following a solution on ere somewhere i fixed it, this is done at ur own risk, im nt responsible. unplug the charger from the wall, still plugged into fone(this is to empty charger of any charge thats there) thn unplug fone and dip the end of the lead in water(yes sounds weird i no...) then make sure theres nt an excess on the end and plug into wizard adn thn the wall, should be red light and then after a few mins orange - charging hope it works
hehe
just letting everyone know it's now working again
didn't need to do any water dipping.
just plugged in brother's 5v 1000ma charger and it's now charging
OMG !! Good Goooooooshhhh

hi
hope ur serious about ur method, well sry to say....... never heard of such a method before, I'm not making any fun of u or plz don't take me wrong , I don't mean any harm.
I just can't believe it cud happen like that, after all water dip will certainly short circuit and burn it.
well, just for my knowledge, have u ever tried this urself ?

I thought exactly the same when i read it first, but since my phone wasnt turning on, gave it a go and it worked! As i say sounds odd but apparently its somthing to do with the circuits controlling the charge, if theres not enough power then obviously they wont work, so this way does...sounds odd but works! I just had a quick search and cant find the original thread, it was an alternative to the 9 volt battery solution

well than I must say u got a brave heart,If had that choice ,i wud have thought 10 times and still said No
As u said that u had gone for it and did and were successful,do believe u now. In that case its very valuable information thanks
So your saying to dip the end of the charger plug into water?? It sounds like really all you would be doing is cleaning off the terminals of dust or debris that could be impeding a connection of some sort.
Ok this will be a bit lengthy but please bare with me and read...
Ive been running Darkyy 10.1 EE for months now and every has been fine.
Easily a couple of days battery, no force close issues of any sorts... Everything has been perfect.
Then the other day i noticed my battery started dropping fast. NO THIS IS NOT A BATTERY DRAIN THREAD SO PLEASE READ ON.
I took my phone off charge the other night within seconds of hearing the beep for battery full and the fully charged icon in the top right of the bar stayed there for a few seconds ( like maybe 10 ) and then the battery level dropped to 80%.
I thought hhmmm thats not right but left it and went to bed.
6 hours later i woke up to 31% battery.
I thought something must be running killing my battery so i did a reboot...
Now this is where it gets weird. Read on my friends...
after i rebooted the phone it kept rebooting itself every 2 minutes or so.
I pulled the battery of for 30 minutes and put it back but i had the same problem.
When i got home i did a factory rest and wipe cache partition and decided to flash Darkyy 10.2...
I had the same problems as above only now when my phone rebooted the battery lvl would drop by 20% then next time raise by 5% etc etc
NOW THIS BIT IS SCARY BUT READ ON!!!
I decided to flash back to froyo with ezbase using repartition to see if that would help.
I plugged my phone into the computer and nothing happened!!!! My computer wouldnt recognise my phone at all neither would my phone start charging whilst plugged into the computer.
I managed to get my computer to see my phone by booting into recovery and and then download mode and flashed ezbase.
Again same problems. So i thought OK this might be an insurance job so i flashed it back to stock JPY from samfirmware.com. I plugged it back into my computer and my PC says "the USB device you have connected has malfunctioned and windows cannot recognise..."
I have had my phone unplugged over night but the icon on the bar is still there showing USB connected, and in the pull down shade there is still the option to connect USB to copy files.
I have plugged it in this morning and it started charging but windows didnt even recognise that there was anything attached at all! No beep no fault deviced attached message... Nothing!
Oh i would also like to mention that when i flashed ezbase and tryied to do a reboot i would get the battery icon for a second like if you charged while the phone was off and then it would power down again... The only way i could get the phone to boot back up was to flash EZbase again with auto reboot ticked!
Yes that was very long sorry and thankyou to those who took the time to read it.
If anyone has any thoughts on why this would have happened please post.
Do you think this is something caused by the custom rom or is this a hardware issue completely out of my hands?
Thank you again for reading!
Have you tried another battery?
Sent using geek power
First, I would try to check if its a hardware problem.
For that burn a stock rom and see how it is doing. If its working fine with stock, without any problem, then obviously its ROM issue.
Else if the stock also gives you the same problem, then I would say its a hardware problem.

I dont think its a battery issue because the battery wouldnt prevent the computer from seeing the device would it?

Im running stock JPY right now and have the same problem
Could it be a damaged usb port, so that it doesn't always charge properly, and doesn't always detect the phone correctly when connected to the computer? That might explain the problems... Especially if that port is getting worse all the time.
Can you get it to detect on the computer if you wiggle the usb plug to the phone? Have you tried a replacement usb lead?
It does sound weird. Hope you manage to sort it out.
Mike
Garbled meaning induced by swype!
don wadte time if ur phone dosnt work on stock then its the port tht got damaged and the hardware,,,,something wrong .....better go to a service center..don expirement ,cause it might damage it more
I have just dropped it off at the shop i bought it from and they are sending it away for repair.

Hello.
When I try to turn on my N4, I hold power button, and after about 10 seconds Red light blinks (just once, if it's connected to USB that 1 blink last for 3 seconds, if connected to wall, it's just quick 1 blink. If it not connected anywhere there is no action at all, it just stays dead, no blinks, nothing). Same if I try to go in bootloader by holding volume down+power.
This happened after I successfully installed CM12, with no errors. Then I rebooted my phone, and it just stayed black as it is now. Battery was around 25~30% that time, and phone was connected to USB.
Did I bricked my phone totally? I am now trying to charge it up already for 1 hour... but it nothing changes.
I have searched here for similar problems, but couldn't find solution...
Edit: Charging already for 10h+ , still same..
Edit2: I removed battery, reconnected after a while, still same problem.
So I tested it with multimeter, it says 2.6V, but fully charged must be 3.8V. Could this be a problem? I was charging it for whole night.
Edit3: I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...
When I connect to PC usb, there are unrecognized deviced called "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
easy fix
Hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until phone reboots. If you see the little android no need to worry just let go and wait for your device to reboot on its own. This is not a factory reset it's just like restarting your device. :good:

I have tried that many times. Nothing. It's bootloader screen, but I can't get there. Nothing happens. If I keep holding volume down+power it just keep blinking once every ~10 seconds, same if I hold just power button. If phone is not connected to charger, there are no blinks at all.

I had the same problem a year ago, I tried to remove the battery, charging all night, and other solutions that I found online and no one worked.
Finally I found here in XDA a user with the same problem and his solution was charger the phone with a wireless charger, a friend of mine has one and I put the phone to charge and after a few minutes the screen goes on and the phone was charged, then I press power button and the nexus run again.
Hope this works.
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain.
Good luck.
(I bought a wireless charger in case it happen again)
I don't know anyone with wireless charger. I already ordered a new battery, and then I probably will get wireless charger also. Ty.
But this problem is very weird if you think so.. I think it happened because of many aspects together:
1) Battery was already below 30%
2) I pretty regularly charge phone with USB (won't do it again)
3) It was connected to PC USB in same time.
4) I installed CM12 ROM in same time
So main reason I think is USB, that I restarted phone while it was on pretty low battery and with USB connected.. phone restarted and got invalid voltages and couldn't even boot up or charge phone. I also found an article which says, minimum voltage, when phone battery has 0%, it's 3.0V, so I was below that.. it just screwed everything and battery died. Well, I am not sure for 100% that it's battery fault, but I hope so, I really love my N4 and still wanna use it for long time, I hope it's not dead phone, just a dead battery. Lets see! I will update this thread , when I get my new battery (less than month probably).
Sorry, my english is also not perfect. I am from Latvia.
I was playing when it happened to me. The phone was very very hot and the battery was around 70%. When I put in the wireless charged and I can reboot the phone the battery was at 65%, so it had charge but the phone won't boot.
I charge my phone almost every day, sometimes with AC, others with USB (plugging to PC) or wireless that depends of my needs
I hope you can fix it. Good luck.
Btw. Do you know if battery charges with wireless charger, if it's removed from the phone?
Don't think it does, since the receiving coils for wireless charging are located just behind the glass back.

Major Issue Google
This "Nexus SOD" issue is showing up on many sites across the Internet. I have multiple "Nexus" devices including 2 Nexus 4, 1 Nexus 5, 2 "Nexus 7 2013". It suddenly started out of the blue with one of my Nexus 4 phones. Symptoms included rapid battery discharge. I am using Lollipop 5.1 on all devices. There are many claims as to the cause, Hardware Motherboard, Power Button etc. Others claim it is "Software Related" or App Related. The problem effects Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 phones. I have ordered a new motherboard for my nexus 4 device and see if that makes a difference.
This problem should warrant a "Major Android Lollipop Crisis Team" by Google to investigate the cause and let us know what it is and what Google is doing to solve the problem before moving to announce "Android M". This issue needs to brought up and actively pursued at the upcoming "Google I/O Conference" by the strong Android Developers Groups to press for "Formal Action"

I had this problem a long time ago and my fix worked for me after doing a little research it seems like this is a case called battery total discharge. The fix was simply to charge your phone using the wall adapter that came with your phone (I still use my old apple cube wall thing) and to wait for the red light to appear then wait about ten minutes before trying to reboot.
I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...

I have checked all kind of videos there. Also that one. Most of these cases are related to battery, but it seems in my case it isn't. I just searched for QHSUSB_DLOAD unrecognized device, all posts says it means phone is bricked... But cmon, how? Just tried booting without battery, and connecting to wall. Same - red light blinks once, after I hold Power button or Power+Volume down for about 15 seconds. If I keep buttons pressed, it just repeats every ~15 seconds.
Power buttons works fine.
After I checked that Device manager thing in google.. it looks very bad.. phone is dead.. probably need to change motherboard. I am just shocked, how this could happen... I didn't receive any errors during CM12 installation. Phone just instantly died after restart.
Hi all Last night I had the OTA update to android 7.0 I am now having problems charging the phone with cable. I have it set so it makes a sound when you plug in and start charging. Since the update it makes the sound but then keeps doing it and keeps coming up on the screen fast charging. It keeps doing it over and over so you cant do anything with the phone while plugged in as it keeps coming up on the screen. It works fine if I put the fone on my cordless charger pad its fine.
Also keep getting a red line down the right side of the screen, sometimes for a few minutes sometimes for a few hours, this has been happening for a few weeks.
Any advise please

Interesting... I have recently experienced the *exact same problem*, tried different cables, and I was almost about to give up to desperation and panic of assuming the charging/usb pin became faulty...
Now I'm seeing a bit of hope on it.. will try to reflash a stock rom from scratch (including wiping everything) and see if that helps me, too.
If it does, I think we're looking at a Nougat kernel fast-charging bug here, that may be affecting certain hw models...
I had an online chat with Samsung and they have told me to take it to a service centre for them to look at it. Luckily there is one 20 miles away so will take it in on my next day off.
They said they will do most repairs on same day and it is still under warranty.

Don`t believe it took it to the shop he plugged it in and it charged fine. not sure if he used a fast charger or standard charger. He did say with android 7.o if you are charging with a fast charger and you use the phone it turns off fast charging and reverts to normal charge. But they are going to replace the screen because of the pink line down it and he said the charging port will be changed at the same time. Will be ready tomorrow, they did not have it in stock.

Hello.
So, I recently updated my phone 2 days ago for the first time after 2017, and the battery ran out while it was updating, and then it was boot looping and kept getting stuck at 28%.
I decided to reinstall the os on it (I installed the official rom that the phone came with). At first, everything seemed normal until I plugged it and after a while, the led indicator was showing that it was still charging but after I unplugged it from the charger, the light was still on and the screen was completely black and unresponsive.
After a while, the light shut off and after that, it never came on. I tried everything to get it on again: tried hard rebooting, trying to get into recovery, charging with different types of cables and with wireless charging also, basically every combination that came to mind. When I used the wireless charger, it showed that it was charging, but no signs of life on the phone. Samsung support wasn't that much of a help either, they only asked if I used a cable that worked on it and if the phone was water damaged or had any cracks.
Any help will be appreciated!!!
