I'm running stock 4.3 on the i9505 unlocked,
Knox is 0.1, so my wifi stops working if I switch the phone off or battery runs out,
Currently using the app "autostart no root" to block Knox at startup,
Wanted to know if there is any solution to fix the wifi issue without using the app,
Tried different modem and wifi fixes that went with them but non worked for me if I switch off and on,
restarts sometimes worked but other times didn't...

1. untick "Auto reboot" in odin
2. flash the stock rom again
3. reboot your phone to download mode again (by holding the power and vol down button for 10 sec)
4. flash the stock rom a second time with auto reboot ticked
This will fix your problem.

I have the same problem. I flashed a new Stock 4.3 today, and when the phone boots up I can not turn wifi on. I get a message about security and the process being blocked.
Tried to flash two time like above, but it will not work. How can I enable wifi again without installing av cusom rom?

You can root and block Knox completely this will give you wifi,
As I wanted it stock I drop it into a service center who have forwarded it to samsung now,

Same here.. & did you flash a stock (unrooted) rom first before handing back to service center.. I thought if it was discovered to be 'rooted' they won't fix it as it voids the warrenty or something

Auto start app from the playstore works but some times doesn't,
Best way is too root and use titanium backup and freeze all Knox entries

but for 'freezing' you need the paid for version & without Wifi how am I suppose to get it off play store anyway. It cost's too much using GPRS on PAYG to download.
Would renaming the files (whatever they are called) & rebooting do something similar ??

If you do a rest does the wifi work on initial setup,
I have a unlocked phone and the German O2 rom would work with wifi,
But after a switch on and off wifi went

I assume you mean a hard reset ??
Didn't try at the time & I've ONLY just managed to get (most of) my apps restored - don't fancy resetting again to find out
I've sent email to Samsung support to see what they come up with..(They MUST know there's a problem with the firmware & they may come up with something)
If not, I might try flashing the ROM again through Odin (as mentioned in a post somewhere - apparently doing it a couple of times MIGHT fix it) - if not I MAY attempt a full Unroot

I faced this problem, when I updated my Knox 0x1 device with Kies (+ CF Autoroot and Triangle Away). After this, I was not able to turn wifi on. My solution was simple, I flashed my device with Odin, CF Autorooted and Triangle Away again, and no problems anymore. Wifi is working and everything else too.

My problem is that I am unable to even TURN IT ON. When I attempt - I get a silver shield pop up, & a 'Security notice' stating - 'your device's security has blocked an action that is not permitted. No further action is required' - App info tells me it 'Knox notification manager'
I've been emailing them..telling them KNOX is preventing me from turning on my WiFi - so far all they suggested is downloading KNOX, then Install & uninstall to fix this notification - but how can I if I don't have WiFi ?? - GPRS on PAYG is WAY too expensive Don't these people think ?!?!
Anyway just recently found out about this Knox 0x1 business & where to find it..(for the other newbies It's on the 'Download ' screen (Volume Down + Power + Home))
But I'm confused... On my phone there are 2 KNOX references
- Am I right in assuming you are referring to the 'KNOX Warrenty Void' being 0x1 & not the 'KNOX Kernel Lock' ??
Also (being a total Noob) I assume you download a suitable 4.3 STOCK rom (say for e.g. sammobiles) to use
Me - having a UK brand free Unlocked phone is currently downloading 'I9505XXUEMK8_I9505BTUEMK5_BTU.zip' from there based on this info I managed to find (Am I downloading the correct one ?? can some1 confirm this please - thanks ??)

& used this Unroot/Unbrick guide to revert back to a 'stock' rom (do you know if KNOX Warrenty changed from 0x1 to 0x0 when you did this ??)
Did your Wifi turn on ok after this ?? or only after you redid CFAutoRoot &/or Triangle away
I'm not to fussed 'going back to stock' JUST in case Samsung suggests I take my phone to one of their Service departments...I just want to get my WiFi to turn on
EDIT: FYI - I took the plunge & reflashed with the rom I mentioned above.. it didn't wipe my phone But the WiFi now works - I can turn it on and off.
I 'CFAutoRooted' & 'Triangle away' but NOT done any actual rooting (i.e host file editing etc) - so now I have a rooted phone...
Only thing is - If I try 'About device' > Software Update' > 'Update' to check - I get the usual 'This has been modified - no update available blah blah blah' message. I guess it's because of the 'About device' > 'Status'> 'Device Status' shows 'Custom'
Is this because my KNOX may still be '0x1' ??

Yes, it's because your Knox is 0x1. And AFAIK, there is no solution yet, to turn it back to 0x0. And I'm glad to hear, that you have your wifi back

How did you flash the firmware ?
Was it through OTA, Keis or Odin ??
I had same problem when updating my firmware via Keis v2.6 (see my post above [First & Last paragraphs] or my original post for a more in-depth explanation)
I managed to fix it myself by re-flashing a STOCK rom (got from 'sammobile' - using Odin) OVER the existing firmware (i.e I didn't hard reset it first - when it finished the phone wasn't wiped either) but the WiFi could now be turned on/off...I then 'CFAutoroot' & 'Triangle away' afterwards - checking each stage to make sure WiFi could still turn on/off
So far 'tripp' & myself have had success in fixing the 'Unable to turn on WiFi' using this method.

Hi all, I'm new to XDA so hopefully someone can help me. I purchased a brand new unlocked note 3 N9000W8 in canada from a cellphone store on Monday Morning. The phone was great and worked without a hitch and had android 4.3 on it.
Later on during the day, there were numerous news headlines regarding a 4.4.2 was officially released. So i decided to do the software update. With failed attempts with the message "Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available"
I checked my Settings > about device > status > device status and it states custom or modified. I am unsure how this is possible thinking it was a brand new phone. After some in depth reading i powered off the phone and check the android download mode (power, home button vol down key combo).
It states device status: custom, firmware: custom, knox 0x1 (which meant my warranty was gone essentially). I proceeded to call the shop i purchased the phone at, and the manager said they buy the phones from the distributor which unlocks them before it gets in their hands. so it must have been rooted prior to me receiving the phone.
Long story short...i know its been quite the reading already my appologies. I used samsung KIES to backup the phone and it updated it back to the stock firmware 4.4.2. I was prepared to loose the root as i dont need it. More concerned about the warranty. With the device and firmware status back to original i can now do OTA updates, however
Problem i have now is after the factory firmware upgrade to stock, my sim no longer works on the network. Seems as if the device has a sim lock, but it never asked for one. A local cellphone shop in st.catharines said there might be an issue with the baseband after the official update.
before the update, i tried all the suggestions such as unmounting the sd card, wiping cache, using supersu to unroot.
Can anyone chime in on what the problem may be? I go to school here, so if all else fails i will have to go back to toronto where i purchased it, and have them figure it out. just a hassle for me to get there without a car.
i just realized this was posted in the wrong section of the forum. sorry mods, can it be moved to Q/A?

When the distributor told you that the phone had been modified to enable an unlock, why did you say, "I was prepared to loose root as i dont need it"... the problem is fairly obvious, you had a software-unlocked phone and even though the seller told you that you would lose your unlock, you wiped it back to factory anyway lol...
honestly though, that's extremely sketch, lemme know that shop and I'll report them to BBB, you should never be paying for a cell phone that comes rooted unless your buying something from pacific mall, there are several options for you to unlock the phone, using software, hardware, or IMEI unlock codes

You had a pre-rooted software-unlocked phone (that was originally network-locked). Your warranty to Samsung is completely void, you should get something in writing (or record on audio) from the guy that sold you the phone as to the warranty of the phone.
Other than that - you can buy a network unlock code for something like 15 USD or so.
Hey guys! A week ago my phone started bugging, vibrating randomly and playing weird sounds until it turned off (rooted and rom installed, standard kernel). I tried to charge it but was unsuccesful. It simply would not charge nor connect to the pc. After playing with it i managed to get another rom installed. This did not fix the problem though. I believed the battery was the problem so I went and bought a new one, but once again it would not charge. I opened my phone to see if i could see any loose connection or something, but I was not able too see anything faulty. I'm now 100% sure this is a hardware issue, so would i be able to send it to Samsung for warranty-repair even though i have rooted my phone and flashed a different software? Thanks in advance!
I would really appreciate some help on this topic!
You tripped Knox so it's highly unlikely they'll repair it. Did you try a factory reset? Also might want to try flashing an Official firmware for your phone.
Sent from my SM-N910C using XDA Free mobile app
Yes factory reset and everything. As I said I'm SURE this is a hardware issue because the USB transfer/battery transfer is damaged. I also am not able to connect to Odin which further confirms that it is hardware related. How can i flash an official rom without Odin?
I have now had it in for repair at a local proffesional (no warranty). He told me he was not able to repair it and that he was unable to find the source of the problem. I love this phone and I would do anything to get it working again...

You could try to replace the USB module and see if that works. It's very cheap and worth a try.
I have already tried that.. I really have no idea of what to do
What can i flash via recovery to fully clean it of anything and set it as close as possible to factory standard or simply GET IT TO WORK? Any help is very appreciated
Hey guys!
After few days trying to fix the problem on my Nexus 6P, I still can't make it run properly so I decide to create a new thread asking you guys and this is my last hope for it. I had been using stock android 6.0.1 until I decided to upgrade to OTA 7.1.1 because I hate the notification on the statusbar. My phone worked fine, everything was OK on 6.0.1. After upgrading to android 7.1.1, my phone couldn't get any mobile signal. It still can detect the simcard, the sim toolkit app still shows but I can't use the network. Everything else works properly just like before upgrading. I tried to flash stock 7.1.2 n2g47o image from google; some custom roms like chroma, pure nexus, ressurection remix, flyme, ... and also tried to select automatic band but it is still the same. When I select automatic or any other band, it shows "select [band] unsuccessful". The service state shows "radio off" and I can't turn it back on in *#*#4636#*#*. Please help me! Thank you guys a lot.

Thank you guys and sorry for not saying, I flashed both 7.1.1 (NUF26N, Mar 2017, Verizon Only) and 7.1.2 (N2G47O, May 2017) with flash-all.bat follow the instruction here https://developers.google.com/android/images but it remains the same. I read on Nexus Community that Google developers released images that fix signal problems from Feb 2017. I'm downloading this 7.1.1 (NMF26F, Dec 2016. All carriers except Verizon) and will give it a try even when it was released on Dec 2016.

I guess you flashed the backup, apn reset? Or flashing lineage?
Edit: take a look here, maybe deleting via fastboot and restoring with twrp will help

Sadly this problem ends up to hardware on other threads, hoping not for you

I lost the network right after I upgraded my phone through OTA ;( I flashed stock firmware right after that so I guess it's not come from EFS partition. I backed up all things with TWRP after I had finished the flash-all.bat process. I'm checking out the thread, maybe there's a way out?
Yesterday I brought my phone to Huawei service center in my country but they don't officially sell the Nexus 6P in my country so they didn't take the phone because they don't have anything to fix its problem.
I would try, seems that you got nothing to loose
I'm having the same problem.
I've tried everything you did and when I select automatic bands in 4636 it does successfully, but still no signal.
Also, when I search for network in the mobile settings it always error.
I noticed that my GPS also stopped working. I only can use apps like Maps if I'm connected to a Wi-Fi.
Since the GPS stopped working this makes me believe it's an antenna problem.
If I selected WDCMA Only my network goes to Global instead of what I've selected.
I have the xt1511 (US Nexus Version), but since Nexus is always unlocked I know it isn't a CDMA/GSM trouble.
My wife's 6P started doing this about a month ago where she would randomly lose service for a minute. Today she lost it completely and it seems like there is an issue internally with the radio. I've tried multiple sim cards, factory resets, flashing the latest factory image, trying an old radio version etc. It seems like there has to be some kind of defect. I would hang on to the phone just in case there ends up being a class action lawsuit. Her phone is exactly one year and one month old.
Im frustrated...
I bought my nexus 6p six months ago from a guy on ebay. I love the phone really, but one month later i had the battery problem, and i said well, it could happen, i bought a battery and changed it.
and yesterday, i lost signal. its dead. i tried everything in the forums, i locked it, got it back to stock. and nothing...
Now what?, we dont know if its a hardware problem or is it a software one.
Should I take it to a service center in the us? I have no warranty.
Update 06-12-17: so i kept readying and I saw someone solved the issue installing a factory image from febuary. I did it flashed it, then went into recovery and made factory reset. and it worked!!!! signal is backkkk! im soo happy!!!
Update 2 06-12-17: yeah i was happy, and soo i was going back to normal, i installed twrp, and root, phone boot up and again bye bye signal.
Update 06-14-17: Turns out that since I got to Colombia a month ago, this country has like a national IMEI list. Since I didn't subscribe my device the carrier blowies my phone and that why I had no service... Soo this ends my journey with the no service problem. They fixed it

Is your phone a H1511 or 1512? You didn't mention it explicitly but you may have changed the LTE bands using a hidden menu. Apparently this is a known bug with the hidden menu itself. Several people have had luck flashing an older version of Chroma and switching the band back to Auto. There is a link to the ROM for the 6P in this Nexus Help Forum. If you never used this menu before, you may just be able to access the menu and try setting to Auto first before flashing the ROM. You should get a confirmation that AUTO mode is selected. You also didn't explicitly mention whether the phone worked properly for a while AFTER your battery repair, OR was a direct result of your repair... which could mean it was damaged.

its the 1511 version. Yes the phone worked perfectly after the repair. I was in the US, and three weeks ago I came to colombia. Suddenly it stoped working a couple of days again. I tried the chroma rom. Selected the Auto band. but it did nothing, rebooted and everything but didnt work.
Earlier today i installed a older factory image and it work, i thought it was solved, then i flashed twrp, rooted and lost service again... tried the factory images again and nothing...

Well, I've just checked your latest update today.
What did you do to include your device in this national list? And how did you find out about this list? I need to check if Brazil has it as well. Do you still have signal without problem?
Thanks.

I can not have a case if you are not resolve. Im vietnames my english very bad sory!. Help me
Hi Devs and team,
I have no network signal (AIRTEL or IDEA) in India. (Possibly due to PIE update) No 4g, 3g or even 2g.
I will briefly explain what happened:
1. I was in Oreo November patch till 1st week of Jan 2019 and i was not upgrading to PIE update Jan patch as well, due to all the discussion on bugs and all.
2. However, one day around 8 or 9 Jan, i noticed that update has been downloaded onto my device and it was asking for a reboot to install.
3. But i was avoiding that restart as well since i was scared i would be affected by bugs.
4. Suddenly, around 13 or 14 Jan , i lost mobile signal just like that. (NOTE THAT I DID NOT RESTART MY PHONE YET)
5. I still left my phone like that for a day and there was no change in network signal. Then i thought this may be xiaomi's way of forcing me to install the pie update and then i restarted and PIE was installed.
6. But still there was no signal. Even then i waited for 1-2 days and thought that this may get resolved.
7. Finally around 16 Jan, as my phone was still not getting any signal, i went on the internet trying to search for solutions.
8. I did everything possible. DOWNGRADED from Pie to Oreo 8.0, 8.1, Nougat (Aug 2017 build), used fastboot for this process and then used even hotboot twrp for this process, rooted, then unrooted. I have done this countless times. (Maybe 10-15 times, tried various combinations) Please note that i never had any problem with my IMEI. I always had my IMEI intact during this process. But i never had my signal back. I flashed only modem firmware as well just in case. I am still searching for answers.
9. Meanwhile, i took my phone to Xiaomi service center and after checking they just said, i had to replace my Motherboard and it would cost around 8k (approx). Mind that i bought this phone for 13k. I refused and i thought i would get it checked outside.
10. I took my phone to unauthorised service center as well. Even before diagnosing my phone, he said either antenna or network IC may have been faulty. It has been 2 days and he is now saying he is not able to point out what the problem is yet.
11. It has been more than 20 days and i am without a phone. Everything else works on my phone except for the network signal.
PLEASE HELP ME. I am not able to figure out whether its a software problem or hardware.
I have read that many users have problems with signal. can someone tell me what to do.
My opinion is that maybe seamless update feature helped whatever bug is there in pie to affect my device in oreo and now, i have no signal now whatever i do.
UPDATE: I have just checked with the service center guy (unauthorised) - he says he tried everything (including replacing antenna and other stuff) except for changing network IC. He says changing network IC is risky and it may damage other components. I am not able to decide what to do.
How did you downgrade to Oreo from Pie. As of stock pie for this device, there is arb which will cause bootloops if you downgrade with the usual methods. The steps to downgrade is now more difficult.
I'm no expert, but given what you describe and what Service Center told you, it looks more like Hardware issue than anything else.
If it was software, with all the downgrades you did, you should have been able to get back to a situation where it worked. One thing though, did you try it with another SIM/Operator? SIMs can die too, and usually your operator should give you a new SIM for free or cheap, and you could as well borrow a SIM from someone else, to confirm it's really the full phone that is dead.
So your phone is most likely broken... I guess that if Service Center said you have to pay for motherboard replacement that you are out of your warranty period? Because if you're still under warranty, they should replace for free...
You sure your Sim isn't broken?
Yes to all your questions.
1) i have tried my sims in other phones (they work) and Other sims in my phone (they dont work). Tried hard reset, soft rest etc., nothing works.
2) I have downgraded as per the tutorial of downgrade in xda forums. i had no bootloop or no imei lost cases. Everytime my phone booted well with all imei's intact. I went from oreo 8.0 to pie (over OTA again after proper downgrade) and pie to oreo 8.0 oreo 8.1 nougat.
As i said, i have tried all combinations.
Request your help.
Try installing any custom rom
Can you suggest one so that i can try? Also please tell me rooting from which version would be better. Nougat or Oreo 8.1? I would prefer one which would solve my issue.
FYI: That service centre guy returned my device, saying he could not repair it.
Apart from the above, i have a doubt whether reinstalling my IMEI may kick my modem to start picking up a signal. can i do that? Can i rewrite the same IMEI again?

U can try pie based roms like Los16 , PE latest , crdroid ,etc they r stable for daily driver.
Rooting from 8.1 would be better
Don't touch IMEI for now , try installing custom ROM , if network works then stick to custom ROM and if it doesn't work then it would be a hardware issue.
Have you checked your APN, I lost mine after an update, I manually re entered all the details and all was perfect again.
Did u got your network issue solved?
I'm facing the same issue . .
