Hello everybody,
Recently, a small black area appeared on my screen of my g2 verizon, like in the picture, and it bothers me
So i want to know if there is any solution to make it disappear or to fix it
Thank you
That looks like an issue with the lcd back light itself.
Can it be fixed yes....is it worth the hassle probably not.
If you're bold and skilled, a new lcd back light runs 5-10.00 on ebay & can be done in <15 mins

Hopefully, one of you will know the answer to this, and save me some money.
I have a Wing I just fixed for a friend by replacing the LCD - the new LCD works in the sense that it's no longer cracked, however, I'm seeing some anomalies that I dont recall it having before.
When the keyboard is closed, the color is 'off'....the blue of the title bar looks like the gradual fade is blocky (kinda like when a PC's vid card is set to 8 bit color) and a little green. When I slide the keyboard out the tiniest noticable bit, the color goes back to blue, but is still blocky - slide it further, and the gradient corrects itself, and the display looks normal.
Obviously, the problem is that it only looks good when the keyboard is open - that's not how I like to carry my phone, though.
Since I jsut replaced the LCD, I'm thinking either loose connection (which I doubt, as I'm very careful to properly seat all the cables) or a bad flex cable.
Can anyone contribute to troubleshooting this problem? I can deal with buying a flex cable if I have to, but if it's something else, I may as well just buy a new phone (I'd hate to see what a mobo goes for on this thing....)
Anyone got an idea?
Thx,
- M
I recently bought a cingular 8525 on ebay. The seller said it was stuck on a 3 color screen, blah blah. I knew I can fix it if it was stuck on the 3 color screen, but I turn the phone on and the screen is just white. I was wondering if this means the device is bricked, and if there is any way I can fix this. I've tried a hard reset.
It's called the "White Screen of Death." You can read more about it in the wiki or here.
I'm not positive if it's that or not. I don't see a complete white screen, I see streaks of gray on the left side of my phone. I have a picture, hope this helps. Is this the white screen of death, or do I just have to replace the lcd screen?
If you see the booloader screen at times, then the lcd should be fine. If not, then it is in fact the WSOD.
Nope, I don't see the bootloader screen at all. I just received the package today, put in the battery, turned on the phone, and just a white screen. Nothing else. Doesn't do anything but sit in a white screen with some gray streaks.
I fixed up one White Screen yesterday , that is , white screen before, and display normally after.
I just flash the phone with the origional rom, and after a bootloader reset( OK+power+reset), the white screen magicly start to display stuff!
So give it a try!
^^ Thanks for the help, but I already tried updating it to the official WM6 rom and it failed.
Ther are about 1001 things that can cause the WSOD - somtimes software, sometimes hardware and sometimes multiple things. To track down the cause can be a major headache and even if you do fix one thing you may have something else causing another problem resulting in WSOD... Most people advise NOT to buy a 2nd hand hermes with this as it is too much of a pain to fix. If you want to try however, you can purchase new LCD's off ebay for about $100AUD and you'll need the HTC service manual to take it apart.. Make sure you have a number 6 torque key, a small flat blade and phillips head screwdriver.
All the best...
Cheers...
Today my hd2 has shown some strange color issues: Grey / Transparent black causes a grin/yellow tint. I did the usual troubleshooting (soft and hard reset) but it did not help. I also read some old threads about it saying that I should flex the screen to make it go away (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...m.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003265). I tried that without luck though I'm not sure if I "flexed" the screen enough but I'm afraid of breaking it.
Anyone an idea what caused this problem? I did drop the phone a few times over the years, however, today, when it all started, not. Secondly, I can't really think of a broken screen as it seems that only a specific grey is tinted yellow/green (the grey whatsapp uses for their contact without photos and the grey used for the keyboard when you eneter your pin.
Any help is really appriciated... Don't want to loose the king :crying: as this color issue makes really unconfortable.

EDIT: I'm on a european hd2 with the latest Pdaimatejam WP7 rom (v8.2) and I even tried to reflash the rom... Seems a hardware fault:crying:
Today morning the issue faded away without doing anything at all . Might be that the screen got somehow pressure causing some disorder of the fluid crystals and with time, they reordered themselves...
Hello all, today I've noticed that my G2 has developed the infamous "black lines" accross the screen problem. I have black lines all over the screen vertically and horizontally. The lines appear to slighty flicker and they're constanly visible in all colors, but mostly in lighter colors. The phone is in a good state, few scratches here and there, dropped it once before (~0.5 ft height). The phone is around 10 months old and I use it intensely every day so I'd see if started happening after the drop, it didn't. My question is, does the warranty cover the screen replacement or adjustment (because I've read that it may happen because of the screen connector being loose) if it has the black lines problem? I don't want to open it myself and fiddle with the connectors because I don't have the skill required and I don't want to mess something up while it's still under warranty.
PS. Never unlocked/rooted/flashed, model D802
Thanks.

Warranty will cover it, when you contact them tell them you have tried all types of resets and factory restore.
They will issue you an RMA. Make sure you have the receipt of when you bought it, you will need to send it in with the phone.
I was going to send mine in for RMA but they wouldn't cover it under warranty because I bought it on EBay even though the actual phone was less than a year old.
Hello,As always i have a new problem with my new HTC phone. at first i had light bleed on my top left corner of my phone.i persist my self not to attention to it.Now a new problem just appeared. When i use phone for a while,Some of the things and icons from the last app i opened,Left on the screen. It mostly showed itself when i go to a dark app or even scroll down my notification bar.It is like a transparency thing.i don't know what should i do,After that light bleed this problem really broke my heart.does anyone has this issue?
Thats screen persistence its a lcd screen just change the screen temperature too cool and it should fix it
Well i have not seen this on my u ultra yet but i have seen it on my old LG V10 which also used LCD. It usually happened when the phone is hot so most frequently in the summer or when under heavy load. Locking the phone and leaving it to cool for a few minutes always fixed the problem.

Just left the phone cool down for a while.
This defect name is Image Sticking.
I have same problem on U Ultra. It is a cheap phone with a cheap display.
All LCD panels has a certain degree of Image Sticking, but in this case is to strong and very easy to obtain.
This display from U Ultra is not good enough for a mobile phone.
I never saw this degree of image sticking on other phone, cheap or expensive.
