Hi,
Please excuse me for being a n00b and my lack of knowledge about the Android OS but I just brought the Nexus S today (my first smart phone) and I'm after confirmation from someone that I actually brought an "unlocked" Nexus S.
I'm from Australia, visiting the States and I brought the Nexus today. My plan settings from home was set to roaming and I could connect to ATT mobile with my old phone, however when I placed my sim card into the Nexus, I'm not sure if I'm connecting to a network. (I haven't tried calling anyone cause I don't know anyone here and I don't want to rack up a massive phone bill for international calls.)
Under settings, I can see T-mobile and ATT as networks and when I click on one of them, I get the message that it is "Registered on network", however I can't seem to see the usual carrier logo on any of my home pages...so am I connected ?
The receipt from Best Buy said that I brought a phone without a plan but there was a T-mobile sim card in the box it came with, so did the employee give me the wrong one ?
Apologies for the long rant and thanks in advance !
Cheers,
Edit*
Oh yea I should include that I'm not connected to any wifi or any data connection hence all my home pages are saying that I can't connect to anything.. but still, shouldnt the network logo show up ?
No, they gave you the right one...... and also, you are connected.
All boxes come with a tmo sim in there.... the only thing I didn't like that was missing was the different earphone gum size (i'm a small sized and it only comes with a medium one, which means it falls off =( ,,,sucks ) besides that ..............I LOVE MY PHONE!!
Before you left Australia, did you call your carrier and had international roaming activated? On most networks, without international roaming on, you won't get a signal.
Hey guys, I could really do with some expert knowledge right now from a few points of view.
Country: UK
Phone: HTC Desire Z (stock ROM)
Network: Orange
Basically for a long time now (over a year) Ive been able to connect to a 3G network but not actually use it at all. When im connected to 3G i cannot send or receive text messages, nor can I send or receive phone calls and finally to top it off I cannot browse the web. In short, when im on 3G I have a £400 paperweight. When browsing the web I get the outgoing data arrows lights up, but the incoming never recieves back.
I have tried my sim card in my current Desire Z, an HTC Hero, an Iphone 3G and an LG Viewty with the same result. I have also tried a 3 sim card in my Z and my Hero just to ensure its not the phone at fault which it isnt as I could use 3G fine with a 3 sim.
Over the last 6 months or so Ive had numerous calls to Orange about this matter to no avail. They have told me time and time again to check my APN settings and eventually sent me a replacement sim which produces the same problem. In early december it got passed over to tech support so they would investigate and they rang back a week later telling me they had done something to do with re-registering me on the cell tower (or summit) and contact them if it didnt work, which it hasnt. Ive now been passed onto advanced tech support who have requested I send them my sim card so they could test it out from their end to try and resolve the fault. I posted it off to them today and they said that ill have it back in a few days with any luck.
Can anyone here think of anything that no-one has thought of yet to try as Orange seem to be spending a lot of time guessing and im all out of ideas now. Also where do I stand with the contract? As much as im happy with my contract and not too bothered about staying in it until July I dont see why I shouldnt try to get out of it if they fail to fix the error this time around so does anyone have any idea where I would stand legally? Whilst my phone offers the capability to force the use of GPRS, if it did not have this capability Id be stuck on a contract I literally couldnt use due to 3G refusing to do anything at all, which i have proven to Orange is their error and not mine and they are failing in their attempts to fix it.
Thanks for any info at all,
Paul
hi I was balance between HTC inredible S and Atrix and Finally I've buy ATRIX
So happy when received today and that all 4now I cant use it and is just peace of plastic.
I've check xda forum but can't found any thread about it
As I found out on motorola web side to be sure they advice that I need to have 3g network cover for 1st redister or login to blur. I was ride around town for 30minuets and no way to get it. Also in at last 4spots I swap sim card to my old HTC and have 3G network cover staight away then put back to atrix and shown full H+ cover same in other 3spot. So finally there is no any way that I can get 3G network cover(uk vodafone) on that phone so is big minus coz on htc I do have 3G
Anyway part of that im not sure that I really need 3G cover to registeer or login to blur but anyway for now I can't pass to screen where you
-Register a new account or -Use a existing account = CAN"T USE PHONE AT ALL
ps.When I chose wifi everythink is ok but when I choce "Retry cellular connection" and press NEXT shown connection failed. ALso when I turn phone on wihtout sim screen comes up ok. Summary I dont realy need that blur to back up all provate things on internet but probably is no any way to run without it...?
I do like atrix so anyone can help me. Please coz I dont wanna send him back
sorry for my broken english
Maybe there is a way to register online with your IMEI, or give motorola a call and see if support can help you get around it/register in a different way?
wishful thinking.. just my suggestion.
Good luck!
hi I register online already
It took me a really long time to get it registered online for some reason. I chatted with ATT on their support chat and they had it pushed threw instantly. Its worth a shot
Can you tel me web side please coz there is few: motorola and AT&T...? and now Im not sure Ive register in correct but anyway is no any different because I cant get to that screen wher you log in

thx for that but unfortunately its show how to Use the Atrix without motoblur and also without SIM. Im ok to run atrix without blur account but with sim
That thread just disabled blur so you don't get the login when trying to start your phone. Try it.

Up until a couple days ago I had a Samsung Jack, for those of you who don't know what it is; it is a blackberryish Windows Mobile device. My Samsung Jack would sometimes not send/receive text messages unless I restarted the phone. Upon doing so I would get a flood of texts. Even when I sent them and the other person did not receive them, it would fail to notify me that my text messages did not get sent.
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrockey off Craigslist. At first, pictures wouldn't send. Then I stopped being able to receive calls. Now I can't send text messages or use data EVEN WITH WIFI ON. I thought it had to be reported stolen and disabled. However, I can still make calls and if I put my sim card back into my Samsung Jack it will not send texts either. Thoughts?
Don't know but maybe a bad sim card.

Yup that's what it was, never knew sim cards to really go bad lol I had my last one for like 6 years.
ATT troubleshooting.
Check with ATT tech support with your account, if they send you free messages or not. most probably SIM issue , but i saw sometime account pending or using non smartphone sim on smartphone can cause this.
I have an unlocked sprint S7 SM-G935P edge. I was initially able to make and recieve calls, I went abroad on a vacation and put a local sim and it was working over there too, after I came back I was able to make one phone call and after that I am having a hard time receiving anymore phone calls, It's a hit /miss situation. I am able to make phone calls but there is a huge delay from the time I dial to the time it connects. My data works fine the only problem there is I sometimes get like 20 copies of any texts I receive . My software version is G935PV5BQL1 . I know the Tmobile firmware doesn't support this baseband & I'm using Tmobile right now , is there a universal firmware which is compatible to the baseband and which can solve the problem ? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.
