Huawei P9 Lite or Nexus 5x - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hey guys can you suggest which phone should i buy?Heard great reviews for the p9 lite but how is the performance and overall use of the phone (never used a huawei emui) compared to nexus 5x?

I'm very very happy with the performance on my P9 Lite, especially because I did not pay too much for it. We might be getting CM later and that probably implies a small boost in performance. If you are looking for a specific test, then ask for it. EMUI doesn't bother me so much; I don't think it's as bad as people say it is.
Have no experience with Nexus 5x, but I would say to go for the cheapest option, unless you are looking for something very specific!

Well im interested in games like asphalt 8 on high , csr racing 2 and gta san andreas performance if you can test how it runs thanks! And the price is close for the two 240 euro for the P9 Lite and 260 for the Nexus 5x

I tested Asphalt 8 and a few other intensive games, they run smoothly and there is virtually no game this phone can't run!
Apart from that, I didn't know EMUI had a task killer, so that's definitely a downside, since it's 2GB of RAM perform as a 1GB lol.
Other than the task killer, EMUI is a pleasant experience, but I do have Vanilla theme and Nova launcher on it.
Camera is pretty good during the day, pretty bad at night, but awesome with pro mode (if you know how to use it).
All in all, being a stock Android fan, I'd choose Nexus 5X (I couldn't because my carrier doesn't deal Nexuses), but P9 lite is quite good too.

Thanks i think ill get the P9 lite because its cheaper also heard it has a more premium feel to it , the only concern is update support but i think custom roms will handle it maybe.

i personally would choose Nexus because... great support from devs... you will have the latest Android for at least 5 years from now...

Overall p9 lite is a good device. Specially versions with 3 gb of RAM ( VNS-L31 is my device)
But if you need a good camera and software support you should choose Nexus 5x. But pay attention! Buy the 32 GB version. 5x doesn't have sd card slot, and 16gb is not enough store to much things

After reading your post, I think it's good to point out that P9 Lite has a 3GB RAM variation.

I own a P9 lite but I wish I got the 5X. Don't get me wrong the P9 is a good phone, it has a better display than the Nexus, a much much better battery life and a more premium feel. The Nexus has more custom roms, better software, better camera and much more support from Google and XDA.

The part about lack of support and community for P9 Lite is a great point. This was what disappointed me the most about P9 Lite. But now with work on CyanogenMod for P9 Lite having started and the phone becoming more popular, things are looking better.

That's the problem with Huawei and Kirin SOCs.
Probably if they will be more developer friendly, some of their devices will become more and more popular.

Well i was hoping that they are selling the P9 Lite 3gb version in my country but no its the 2gb and maybe i should buy the nexus for the support and 32gb of space for apps. Thanks for all the replies

I got the p9 lite 2 gb and I like it.The only downside is that there are no roms yet. But I think its an amazing device. Imo it looks better from the outside then the nexus and with nova launcher the inside is no problem. But theyre both nice phones. I would go for the 5x tho, or wait for p9l roms.

The phone is OK for a normal user It has all most all the features of a smart phone and i am using it for the last 6 moths didn't face any problems,i feel that MIUI software is not so user friendly in the beginning but once you get used to it you will like it.

I already use MIUI in another device. It's really good and like it so much
The performance for normal use without force hardware its enough for me

Beware the enormous lag, the ROM is extremely slow, the phone wont be upgraded to Android 5, it will remain on 4.4.4 KK.
Miui 7 is really a 4.4.4 for this device. (only a few Xiaomi phones will get Lollipop)
I have a Redmi 2 for 5 months, Xiaomi iare not planning to develop Lollipop for this smartphone.

The phone is great in it's price range!
Hi! I've been using the Redmi2 4G version for a couple of months now, and I think I'm ready to give an opinion on it, to the best of my abilities.
For this price range, it's actually very tough to beat the Redmi 2, with specs. The looks are premium, you won't feel like using a cheap Chinese-build phone, it's actually well made. I have an issue with the back panel finish, it's rather slippery despite being matte. I'm pretty sure you would have researched on it's specs, so you would know, that it is THE DEAL for it's price category.
The back camera is pretty good, macro mode is specifically good, but night photography isn't that great. Front camera's performance is rather satisfactory.
Battery is pretty good, lasts a day for me, with moderate usage.
There are NO heating issues with my phone. Off course, if you will play Asphalt for a couple of hours straight, it is bound to heat up.
Display is pretty intriguing for a budget phone.
If you've used MIUI in the past, you would know of it's resemblance with the iOS. While MIUI is pleasing to the eyes, and pretty simple to use and learn, I would add, that it's best for the 2GB RAM phones. MIUI with a 1GB RAM phone sucks BIG time, so, yeah, Redmi2 has issues here, lagging, crashing apps at times.
Now, since I prefer the stock-android feel better, I have flashed mine with a pretty stable CM11 ROM.
If you're a heavy gamer, I recommend you to browse phones in higher price ranges. Redmi2 is a good everyday usage phone, but certainly NOT the one for heavy gamers.
Long cut short:- Go for it, it is pretty awesome. P.S. - I don't know if Redmi 2's Prime version(2GB RAM) is available in your country, if it is, rather go for that.
Cheers.

Really i got it attention and look for Redmi 2 cause the specs and good price tag. I use today a Quadcore cortex armv7 snapdragon 200 , but without version updates upper JB 1 (4.1.2) we waiting so far , but the factory strategically isn't willing to put lot of money for invest licences .
This situation made me take a decision to start development at point to create my own roms
I like very much about MIUI, used on my own others devices ( Defy Mb526 Atrix 4G) . One of my works development was inspired by MIUI V6 , creating my design and ported some MI apps for package
I really have interest to get one Redmi. Here just Redmi 2 it's avaliable in local market but others devices will be launched soon like MI 4

Don't expect Lollipop update for Redmi2. The Mi team isn't quite interested in giving Lollipop updates. So, that's quite a letdown.
I am facing a problem with the phone, there is poor microphone sound at other end. Anyone know any solution to this issue? Please help

Maybe the Mi Team in not interested in Redmi2, but there's something on the stage right now. This CM 12.1 release is really awesome:

I'm one of the first buyers here in Brazil. On the launching event, the MIUI Brazilian website got bugged and fewer people was able to buy (I'm one of them, hacking the page).
I got a few complains:
the HDR Camera is laggy as hell when I take pictures.
There's no app drawer.
Sometimes I'm unable to unlock the phone, because of lag (I think). Seriously, this is annoying.
When phone gets too slow, when I go to the home screen the interface reloads itself.
Playing games like Fallout Shelter is a big problem, lagging as hell.
1GB RAM isn't enough for the phone (for me, at least) .
Sometimes the phone heats so much.
The phone has a x64 architecture, but the MIUI is 32 bits. Sounds like a waste of processing power.
There's no support forum for Brazilian users in the official boards.
No Lollipop support and no plans to receive update.
Things I liked:
Built-in security, like Antivirus and cleaning app.
The interface is so beautiful.
LTE (4G here in Brazil) for BOTH sim cards.
I can Easily switch wich sim card to make a call, send SMS or use Mobile data.
The frontal camera has a special facial recognition, telling the age, for example.
The phone charges super fast (2200 mAh battery).
It's cheap, compared to other phones. It costs less than $ 150 (at the time I bought it).
I don't think that I'm a hard user for this phone (seriously, I didn't even play so much on the phone). I know it's a mid-term smart phone. But the MIUI lag is annoying (I got crazy sometimes). I tried to use the beta versions of the MIUI rom, tried to use performance scripts, Greenify, other camera apps.
Now I'm using a customized CM 12.1 for the device, to see if I'm able to use easily the phone, like driving in my car, got lost and easily open Waze or Google Maps to see where I need to go. Actually, I need to stop and park the car, clean current apps (some times reboot) to properly use.
nice reply @juliovedovatto
i have for several days a 2GB RAM / 16 GB ROM version and I can say that I have none of the below mentioned lagging problems.
What else is different in my setup is that I am already on MIUI 7 developer.
I should admit also that I did not play any game.
Coming from an Iphone I am kind of used of not having an app drawer and MIUI 7 is pretty eye candy...
Right now I am considering if CM (11 or 12) are worth the try... I think the main gain will be a battery life increase (at least from my other experience with CM), but I cannot see any other benefits, at least for me. I should study a bit more.
aaaah... battery lasts ~1 day. less if you use a lot the screen... max so far for me is 1 1/2 days

If you want to try the CM roms, I need to advise you: see what model your phone is. Actually the CM roms supports only HM2014811-HM2014813. The compiled baseband maybe does not work for you Redmi model.
There's a chance of you apply the rom and it does not have support for LTE networks. Like my case, my phone is HM2014819 and I discovered this misfortune today, after reading tons of posts and articles and flashing 10 times my phone
The good news that the performance of CM is far superior than the MIUI roms.
I own a 2014813
nevertheless the battery life i see as the main gain of CM vs MIUI. Is there something else worthing, I mean like really making a difference?

Thanks @juliovedovatto for your feedback, have good experience and content for fixes report.
The Xiaomi Team recently replied me about issues that have been causing, lags and this report turn around the device performance, it's needed constant evolution to directing it in fixes updates. All of Redmi owner's can do it mentioning in Xiaomi support channels
They also informed that the objectives for now is update for MI7 and we will be wait this results!

For example, when Skype is running on the background, it disconnects itself (and its icon disappears from notification line) and when I click its icon again, it opens as if I freshly opened it, loading everything again. It was locked in recent apps so it won't stop. But it will. Even when nothing else is running. Sometimes when I have browser and few other apps running at once (not many, two or three other apps) and a music player, sometimes the music randomly stops - it is killed for RAM even if it's locked (i absolutely hate this on MIUI but fortunately it happens quite rarely now, perhaps the last weekly update messed something up again).
MIUI is extremely RAM-hungry. I mean - if Windows XP can run on 512 MB RAM device and be perfectly usable even for complex work, what is this supposed to be? And with Cyanogen on my Redmi 2, there is still buttload of free RAM when I have several apps opened just like before on MIUI. Currently I'm running CM12 Lollipop ROM made by Zwiliev which I installed today, when I finally got tired of MIUI. And since some V6 build, Mass Storage disappeared so there is no sane way to connect a phone as a flash drive. For me, Cyanogen solved all those things, and many more that I don't feel like writing down here.
On the other hand, the Redmi 2 itself is a decent phone. With very nice headphone output quality - the best of all phones I've ever had. The camera is pretty good, too. The display is beautiful - i thought that it is nuts to have 1024xSomething resolution on a device this small but it really looks very good. And MIUI has in-built root capability, at least. Wifi is powerful enough to have signal where my previous smartphone was already out of range. Replaceable battery and memory card slot. The hardware is indeed very very good for those money so if you don't mind using Cyanogen, buy it
Yay, this is gonna be my tenth post so finally I can send feedback to ROM developers (AT LONG LAST! WHICH PORK HEAD'S IDEA WAS THIS?)

Nexus 6P vs Mate 8

Im looking to upgrade from a Nexus 6 to either a 6P or Mate 8. I just found this phone this morning and looks interesting. What do you think of this phone vs the 6P? Thanks for your opinions.
I have both. I came from a nexus 6. They're both great phones. My only sadness with this phone is lack of aosp or cm ROMs. As much as I really hate that, I can't put this phone down. Battery life with heavy use I'm still putting down average 6-7 hours screen on time. The 6p is pretty solid of a phone too but I'll be giving it to my gf since the mate 8 serves more than enough of its purpose.
Hopefully one day maybe we get an aosp ROM

i would like an aosp/CM rom as well. my problem with my N6 is battery life. i heard the 6P is better and seems like this is even better than that. i have been reading on here about issues people have been having with the phone being in chinese and issues with notifications and such. guess i need to decide if the lack of aosp with the other issues will be something i can live with for now.
No problems with notification for me and no Chinese problems either. People probably bought a Chinese model and are complaining about Chinese being on it. Go figure. And also coming from a nexus 6 I only have up due to screen being broken and unable to repair it at the moment, this fits even better in hand than the nexus 6. Solid as hell. Like I said, my only complaint is lack of aosp or cm ROMs. So far I'm able to live with it. If it gets too much, I'll serve my nexus 6 back to the States for repair. Not necessary though considering the hell of an upgrade this phone is
well, most issues and complaints here actually arise because people are too lazy to read as for custom roms, the ball started rolling on that we already have twrp, unlocked bootloader, decrypted boot image and root capability. first dev is also already working on a custom rom, so im pretty optimistic for the near future
sure, development will never get as expansive as with the nexus 6P, but hey, its a nexus
u gotta decide whats important to you: mate 8 trumps everything concerning cpu performance (even upcoming s820 according to benches thus far) and battery life. if gpu performance is important to you though, the 6P is definitely more performant, although not massively due to the higher screen resolution vs. the mate 8.
another important point: screen vs body ratio! iphone 6s plus / nexus 6p / mate 8 are all the same size, give or take 1-2mm. difference being:
iphone 5.5 inch display
nexus 5.7 inch display
mate 8 friggin 6 inch display
coming from the nexus 6 ull be surprised to have such a "small" device sport the same screen size at way smaller dimensions
and i can say the screen is super sharp, has great colors and is briiiight as heck, everything u can want in a good screen
just my 2c on the matter...

Another 2 plus points for the Mate 8 that people don't give much importance but for me are relevant are the fm radio and sd card slot.
yes! i was pleasantly surprised to see the fm radio functionality
I have both and hands down the mate 8 is the winner. I got the mocha brown 64GB 4GB ram and it flies. Had notification issues with the Chinese Rom so I just converted to international and now no problems. I listen to a lot of music and this goes a lot louder and quality is much clearer. Camera seems good but I'll be testing it more over the next few days. 6p is going on eBay.

Will you update to Mate 9 ?

Huawei Mate 9 have been officially presented, did it meet your expectations will you upgrade to it from your mate 8 ?
For me, it's a No
The pro version is simply too expensive and I personally dislike the front button

Good said, I agree with you, they have done a lot with the software this year, the physical look on mate 9 looks very uninspiring, even their honor 8 looks superior, I would prefer the same back as honor 8.
The camera bump looks disgusting.. it is much about how the camere will live up to the expectations.
I wish it had 3 in one sim/sd slot like they have in some honor devices, most people most use SD card so then they can not use the dual sim functionality.
i am disspointed there is no amoled screen, to be honest I expected 2k amoled this time.. to make it daydream and VR ready.
They could make the smartphone thicker to make bigger battery to compensate for a more high resolution screen and also to get rid of the camera bump.
Personally I have not decided what to buy, it is this against Mi Mix for me, mi mix have **** camera.. that is the main difference..I also think EMUI 5.0 is better in the software department then MIUI.
I wish the price would be little better.
I do not like the Porshe version that much despite the price, 5.5 is way to small, I had a 5.5 before and it is a big difference in experience during the 3 month I had it I bought a tablet, when I get a 6 inch I have no need for tablet.
as I said we will see about the camera.. it is the camera that will decide the true caliber of this device.
if not that Mate series is still one of the very few devices that have an acceptably battery time, not every one want to have a battery back always with you ..
I am extreme heavy user, with a screen on time with about 8 hours per day sometimes more..
I bought mate 8 only about 3 months ago, and I feel if Mate 8 get EMUI 5.0 it would feel reborn again..so not sure how I will do..
I know from past experience the prices of Mate devices are kind of static so there is no reason to wait 6 months to buy it, if you are going to buy it, buy it as soon as possible since the price will not get lower with time.
Just for cpu upgrade, I won't upgrade to Mate 9
Porche edition, out of reach
You should become their designer..hehehe

Not worth for now. Its not Samsung that you HAVE TO upgrade ahahha
Mate 8 still my no.1 !
I am waiting on my Phab 2 Pro to come Tuesday..I have the Mate 8, then got Mi Max, and then got Honor Note 8..sold both of them and went back to the Mate 8 only because of 4G coverage and the Mate 8 is definitely a top phone but I wanted a bigger phone that have great specs as well as full LTE coverage..I can honestly say the Mate 8 is probably the best phone I ever had
Agree

reasons for upgrading would be restricted to: significantly higher gpu performance / double camera. thats it. and if youre a user focussing on those two departments, u wouldnt have gotten the mate 8 in the first place so its kind of a moot point to go from mate 8 to mate 9, unless ure just OCD about having the latest and greatest while not giving a crap about cost ^^

Too pricey for now. Maybe next year when the price drops. Our Mate 8 will be revitalized once it gets EMUI 5.

I paid 300 euros for this Mate 8 yesterday... it was new..only NXT-DL00... but with your help (thanks again!!) I hope to 'convert' it to an International one... I knew there would be a catch for 300...oh well
Mate 9? Hmm maybe next year when the prices drop hahah... the Porsche Edition is definitely NOT worth it if you ask me, that even makes Apple phones seem cheap lol...
No, because I just bought the 8.
I used the Mate2 for over 2 years, because I thought it was a good value.
When the 8 was talked about last summer, I looked at it, but when the price was announced,
I said nope, too expensive. I waited...
Late this summer, with the 9 coming, I started watching the price on the 8 drop. When it reached a
level I thought for me, was a good value, I bought it.
"But, you didn't get the newest software, newest camera bla bla bla."
So? I ran the Mate2 on JB for over a year before LL came around, and still have LL on it now. Latest
and greatest doesn't concern me. As for the camera on the 9? If I really want to take a photograph,
I'll grab my dSLR. I only use the smartphone camera to record work related stuff, mainly close up
photos. I don't play games on my phone, so super duper graphics pixel peeping stuff doesn't concern
me. Oh, 10 years ago, I flashed every new rom that came along for my HTC phones, but things are
so stable today, that to me, a smartphone is a "toaster oven". You turn it on and use it. I don't bother
rooting or anything else. If stock is stable, I leave it alone.
My phone is my job lifeline. All of my service tickets are done on a web based app, as are remote connections
to the machines I work on and monitor. I'm a field service supervisor, so I'm constantly on the phone with
other techs, and factory reps. Around 2,000 minutes on the phone, hundreds of emails, texts, photos, along
with a lot of streaming audio. It has to be a good value, and have a good battery, which is why I got the
Mate2 when I did.
The 9 looks like a good phone, but it is priced like a lot of "flagships"....to high for reality. In a year, if I've
got an itch for something new, when the mate10 is announced, I'll start watching the price of the 9. If it falls
to what I think it is worth to me, I'll buy one.
No, mate 8 was my first Android after iPhone 3,4 and 5 and lumia 930. I liked the big screen of the mate 8 a lot, but i don't like that googles only reason for making android is user data.
And the apps want way to much permissions.
In may i updated to b320. because i didn't get ota updates and i read articles, stating b320 would be the next ota.
Well it wasn't and i didn't get any update since may.
The going back to mui 4.0 routine, is to much for me, i have so many offline maps on the device for example, that it would take several hours to download them again.
And where to go? There isn't any update for mui 4.1 at all, for six month now.
So the main reasons for leaving Huawei is, that i just see regular updates for other regions in the world and nothing here. L29.
I live in Germany and all companies including, huawei, lg, htc samsung only sell the smaller Ram versions here, like 32 gb and 64 next year if i am lucky.
So i am thinking about a wopping 256 gb iphone 7 plus and never messing with small ram and sd card again.
it looks like Huawei will compete with Mi Mix , wow what a dream, maybe it will be what Mi Mix should have been since it have some flaws..such as bad camera.

No upgrade. The Mate 8 battery life is amazing as it is. Plus, conversion rate to CAD will probably cost $1k after taxes for the top model. If you already own the mate 8, I see no need to upgrade.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Huawei Mate 10, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Huawei Mate 10 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Mini review
Camera: poor. Nearly every photo looks like an oil painting
Screen: lovely
Speakers: great but a tad boomy
Battery: on average I'm getting 6 hours after each charge which is great compared to my 3 on the Nexus 6p
Speed: no issues at all
---------- Post added at 09:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:44 AM ----------
Forgot to mention that the charging speed is incredibly quick
Camera: love it, in pro mode you can do whatever you want tho, and also shoots in RAW
Screen: good colors but i hate pentile grid, and usable for vr but 1080p or FHD+ is not enough
Speakers: good stereo effect when is on orizontal, but losses fidelity at max volumes
Battery: very good, similar to my old Mi MIX (4400mah)
Speed: Fast AF for real
Storage and Memory: not "PRO".....
6GB ram is good but other flagships have 8GB,
128GB storage is good too, but again, my old Mi MIX have 256GB.
Design: love it
USB-C: FULL support, you can plug whatever you want there, docs, hdmi, another phone, pendrives, mini fan, other charger, mouse, keyboard, name it. ( my Mi MIX dont support hdmi over USB-C for example)
Honestly I absolutely love this phone. I've got a Mate 10 pro BLA-L29 international on T-mobile.
Pros:
Battery. Check my post in the battery thread, fantastic. 8.5-9+ hours SOT with light-moderate usage, 6.5+ on the conservative side for heavy usage.
Screen is really pretty. Honestly the 18:9 OLED 1080p screen is super nice regardless of the normal mate 10 having a QHD panel. I'd say it is a very well built screen
Quick. The kirin 970 has been fast and haven't had any glitches or even odd stutters
Having oreo is great, and MIUI has been pretty swell in my experience. I've seen a lot of hate on it so I was a bit nervous, but honestly it just gives you a lot of different options in the settings I feel like. Personally as someone that likes to tinker with their device but doesnt feel like rooting, I like being able to tweak every aspect of the phone to the extent of the vast number settings.
Cons
Really the only one I can think of currently is software stuff. I hate not being able to expand notifications from the lockscreen and idk why it doesn't let you do that. Idk if it'd an oreo thing or a MIUI thing but I hope it gets fixed in an update because I'd hope that wasn't intentional.
Will add more as I think of them
Things I don't have enough credibility to critique :
Camera. I don't take a ton of photos apart from things like snapchat or the occasional normal photo of my pets, but in my usage the cameras have been great. I'm not going to say I'm am avid photographer though so I won't pretend I know more than I do with how good it is for someone more into professional photography
Coming from note 8. Actually usinf both as daily drivers and Huawei really have a loooong way to go
I am not talking cameras or battery but user experience, smoothness and UI. It's like comparing an iPhone with a 2015 Android phone
Hope this device is getting better with updates

This phone is fantastic.
I have the mate 10 non pro. I'm getting 8-9 hours SOT, very speedy, love the size and feel.
it's truly a homerun. Sound out of the 3.5mm headphone jack is GREAT.
I just ordered the 10 (non pro).. It'll arrive in a couple weeks. I'm upgrading from my Oneplus One.. I'm so excited..

Yes I agree. Battery life. Camera maybe speakers
But I am talking about UI smoothness and user experience. Note 8 is much smoother in animation and the UI is much useful. As in the miniapps the apps windows. The applications are much better optimised for example TubeMate.
The default apps In general, calendar calc phone messenger files etc are much much better on Samsung
By the way where I live mate 10 pro is more expensive than note 8
i thought this thread was for mate 10 and not the mate 10 pro?

Its for both mate
I have had my mate 10 for over a month now and to be honest I think my mate 9 is a better phone, I really don't think the front fingerprint sensor is anywhere near as good as the mate 9 rear one and the phone is just not as smooth to operate with random delays in apps opening or freezing.
Mate 10 pro has the best battery you can get right now in my opinion. The camera can take good photos. It is very fast and has plenty of ram. On the other hand it has bad video, bad audio and old fashioned ui.
Just tried the Emui desktop by connecting my M10PRO to a TV with a USBC-HDMI cable. It works quite well.
Nice to be able to watch Netflix on a hotel room TV directly from the phone.
Will try other out more apps/stuff on the desktop interface to see if it's useful for more than media.
I hope that Huawei will develop a system similar or similar to Knox ™ or Secure folder, since the Mate series is a direct competition to the Galaxy Note, which are 100% focused on work and also have a user focus with BYOD
Just got the Mate 10 Pro the day it hit Best Buy, a few day ago. Haven't bothered rooting yet because truthfully it doesn't need it.Im impressed with the overall quality.Extremely fast and stable. High 212k Antutu score. Thumbs up on this one.
mate 10 , very good camera , good battery , nice design , incredible fingerprint , very good price

Overall speed

Would you say that the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I think that the stock android that comes with the A2 Lite is pretty terrible. I had to root it, then get xposed to work, and just after that I could make things look like I always wanted, but then there is a bigger problem. Overall performance, input lag, and stuff like this is really slow, I uninstalled bloatware, clear cache often, reboot every week, and yet it is slow. The only solution I see is a decently ported custom rom. Which is yet not really available.

Lineage OS?
Haven't noticed anything that bothered me at all. I mostly use it for deving, whatsapp and mail.
I bought the 3GB/32GB version. Coming from the Mi Max 2 that was flying with the same SoC, I am disappointed by the performance. At first, I set it up by restoring the previous apps and settings via the Google backup. It lagged as hell. So I did a clean setup and things are better now but not as I expected coming to a stock Android phone from a MIUI one that is considered to be a "heavy" fork.

The "stock" Android that comes with the A2 Lite is (surprise, surprise) stock, not sure what's terrible about that. There is no bloatware and the only app that can't be removed is a Mi Feedback app which is easy to hide. It's obvious that your performance issues are down to Xposed, not the phone.
Admittedly I'm coming from a much lower end phone (Vodafone Smart Ultra 6) but this thing fly's, how anyone can see lag on it anywhere is beyond me.

It may be with the fact that I had a phone with double the performance, but I really see this phone lag, and I am using it for a month only, while my phone before was 2 years old, and yet lightning fast(with miui)
I haven't noticed ANY problem with the 4/64 model. It is very fast (compared to an iPhone 7 or a Xperia Z3) and smooth. A delight :good:
I really don't see how it could be better (of course I'm not speaking about PUBG or Epic Citadel)...
Coming from an older Moto G4 (2016) running almost stock Nougat this device feels like a rocket in terms of speed and fluidness. The only thing I'm missing is the superb ambient display from Motorola.
The phone feels very stable and fast during daily use. I have the 4gb ram model.
But when I use resource intensive apps like Outlook or and/or I quickly switch between apps I can definitely feel the limits of the SD625.
Overall nothing to complain, incredible phone for €200.
I am actually very surprised by this phone. For 170 dollars? What can you expect? FHD display, notch, 4000mAh battery, alluminium body, good built quality, neat performance + Android one. I can definitely play PUBG on medium settings for 4 hours no problem. 3GB/32GB version. IT`S AN AWESOME PHONE.
Waiting for Android 9.0 <3
4GB/64GB model is much faster than my original Pixel XL by miles, both on Stock Android in day to day tasks and everyday usage. It's as fast as any phone I've used.
is this phone capable for encryption?? I am between this and the mi a2 with the 660 but cannot decide which one is better. I like the 4000 battery and the jack.

Mi A2 Lite uses encryption by default. As for the battery, I'm at 49% battery with 7:46h screen on time. With normal A2 my battery would have been to 0% approximately an hour ago.
ok thanks.

The Mi A2 Lite lags if you install Xposed Framework. I've noticed the difference in performance after installing Xposed. It's because Xposed doesn't fully Support -v8a architecture.
Hello, I'm creating an account in order to give my real-life review of this phone. The previous phones I had were HTC One M8, LG G6.
Please keep in mind that I am a light user.
I do not play games on the device and the most used apps on my phone are
- Messages
- YouTube
- Outlook
- Firefox
- Microsoft Excel
While this device is rocking a 625 SOC, there is no lag at all. This may be thanks to stock Android. I am very confident to say that it is as fast as my LG G6 I had before.
Nothing to complain about.
the phone is very fast
Does anyone have a hands on comparison with Snapdragon 800?
I am looking for a replacement for my Samsung Galaxy S4 but I don't want a slower phone (no games, just daily usage, facebook, whatsapp, tapatalk, opera or firefox, switching between apps)...
Fast enough for daily usage.
I rooted it to use Battery Charge Limit and Greenify
No problem when playing pubg on smooth graphic setting.
I am also very satisfied with the battery backup and stock android experience.
