I've found how disable camera killer in stock camera apps when temperature is too high without change anything in SemcPowerSaveModule apk ! after trying smali patch I've made this module!
When app is resumed(first launch or from background) ThermalAlertReceiver check everytime degrees with sysmonservice and if it's too high everything must be closed, I've replaced this check returning null

Sounds great! Good job!!
Is it possible to add the option to tweak the thermal limit, rather than completely remove it in a future version perhaps? I don't like to have a temp limit but I am also worried about the temps raising too high, so I would like to just increase the limit to my liking rather than completly disable the limit.
Sorry for the stupid question. But does this disable thermal of camera, or thermald entirely? Thanks

Perfect! Just perfect. Works on Xperia X. I was just about to start meddling in the thermal conf. This saved a lot of time.
You should definitely upload it to xposed repo. I bumped into this by mistake.

tips: to reduce camera heat problem, disassembly your phone and give thermal pasta between camera module and middle frame. also between processor cover and middle frame or heatsink. like in PC or laptop.
especially "compact" series, z3c z5c etc, they are not have copper heatsink.
I have try by self (in my z3c). before I apply thermal pasta, warning notification raise after 10 minute when use video rec 60fps use cyberian mod. After I apply thermal pasta, I can record video in 60fps up to 20min ++.
For the problem of waterproof after disasembly your phone, you can use silicone sealent to stick backcover.
I hope its help.
sorry if wrong post and for my english

Good to see Z2 users here. The Indian batch also have some gaps and off center camera lens but these don't effect the device. I have tested waterproofing and it just works.
BTW mine is 14w18. But now the latest batch is 14w20 I guess.

Anyway for those thinking of grabbing this phone i suggest u should go for it ,the only disadvanatage i found is the 16gb limited memory but then i have a 32gb class 10 micro sd card so it compensates for it in other fields the phone runs fine ,,u will love it

I can only record (4K) max of 4 mins and after that I get the overheat message and camera App shuts down. This is happening to all users of Z2 as far as I know. Also other devices such as Note 3 and S5 has a software limiter to record max of 5 mins of 4K video.

Undervolt also helps in the heating issue plus in dooms kernel u have better heat management drivers as compared to stock so it will also give good results.......and as per undervolting i think in my device i can undervolt easily upto -60mv on alll frequency but that is device dependant and some devices endure and other dont so do some testing start with 25mv then 45 mv if u dont have freeze or performance issue u cani ncrease undervolting

Many people struggle with the heating issue on the G3. We know that high temperature is not good for the CPU. And I discovered a unique way to solve this issue. Check out this crazy video I made and hopefully this would help you on modding and overclocking!:fingers-crossed:
But keep in mind, I am not responsible for any damaged devices. This mod would damage your warranty.

Could you give us some details before and after mod? Benchmark scores and temp?
Check the video, I use antutu and geekbench 3 for benchmarking. The temperature is around 60c+
And unstable core clock speed caused phone crash sometimes.
But after modding, issues solved

I don't know exactly what is the actual space between the 801 and the phone metal body but it realy looks like you put much too much thermal paste
What will happen soon or later is that all that thermal paste will start flowing all around the chip.
Then since most of the time when you use, and heatup, your phone it remains vertical, the thermal paste would probably contaminated all the battery slot.
I hope you did choose a dielectric thermal paste...
The thermal paste is fine and stay underneath the CPU, it does a really good job on cooling, it may be little too much in the video, but actually the gap between CPU and the metal is huge

What temperatures are you getting during standard use (i.e. browsing, music etc. - not gaming)? I am currently getting 65-70 and would like to cool it down a lot.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Forums
I did the modification yesterday and here are some logs before/after modification:
Before:
- CPU temp phone idle: 55-60 C
- CPU temp phone in use (Playing 2K video or browsing): 60-70C
After:
- CPU temp phone idle: 40C stable
- CPU temp phone in use (Playing 2K video or browsing): 45-55C
My next test will be in GPS mode in my car during a sunny day. This was shutting down my phone due to high temperature.
But so far, it seems to be positive while regarding only the measured temperatures.
PS: I'm using CPU Temperature app.
If you realy want this thermal mod, don't use thermal paste, use a good thermal pad.

I agree with this,
I would rather use a thermal pad then paste.
The pad could also easily be removed for waranty reasons without it being noticable.

Well, I don't know what kind of thermal pad you are using, but from my experience, thermal paste is MUCH more easier to remove and clean than a pad. Pads stick really bad.
I went with thermal paste and everything is ok, don't apply too much of it... It will not give better results anyway

Aah, point taken.
Well today I installed the slyle potrait app which Sony finaly released, in two minutes I got the the notorious message saying that the camera will close if it keeps getting warm and after one more minute it closed. Could it be that the one to blame for the overheating is the camera software itself because I've never seen the message before and I've done some serious usage of the camera. I'll leave a link to the playstore so you can test it on your own!!! Any other thoughts would be much appreciated.

I was thinking install that app today... After your experience I won't install it. At least not for now.

Its not only this app problem. Open camera and go to Effects, play with it for few sec and you gonna get message that phone is to hot...
Its actually hilarious that most of companies had time to create window with info about to "hot phone", instead of spending this few minutes thinking: "wait... we just created phone and app that get really hot making it no usable at all... maybe we should fix that? hmmm?"
I would not be mad if companies would spend this 2-3 months getting their balls together and make optimized phone and apps, instead of covering their failure behind window like "phone need to cool down... closing app"
Sad part is that its not only Sony problem, most of phones have this... No one give a flying crap to think about it and fix it...

I didn't say that the app is not good actually the effects are amazing but it is so frustrating that after 3 minutes the app closes
It never occurred to you that these apps are heavily using CPU and/or GPU?
Also, I did a heatsink mod (copper plating) inside my phone - kind of helps with heat still yet to post the photo guide though, will do it soon!

i use creative effects all the time and i never had any problem with the camera closing because of heat (you cant be serious that style potrait uses that much the cpu)
My back panel is unglued because of heat(i would like to say that it's joke but nope) so im gonna change it next month so I would like to se how you made that heatsink mod.
I did a lot of such mods in netbooks and laptops, but phone don't have much room for such mods, so I'm really curious about that...

I will share when I find the time to write it my back cover never came loose but I definitely noticed heat fatigue on both the SoC and... Another chip, can't remember what it was - maybe the radio (it was a semi-large chip, second biggest after the SoC). Photos are on my other phone and its flat at the moment, I'll find out when I actually do the guide and look at mainboard diagrams again

Why can't I be serious? Fact is that the SoC is one die containing CPU, GPU and RAM. In normal circumstances these are the highest consumers of power and generators of heat. An exception is if you've got heavy traffic on radio though, and I mean max bandwidth on a LTE or 802.11ac connection, for an extended period of time; I doubt it was that in this case. Or maybe it was...?
Also as a developer I know that software can have bugs that cause unnecessary CPU or GPU usage. You're just speculating here without hard evidence... If you can monitor CPU/GPU clock speeds and/or temperatures while this happens and show us that it's not high, then I will stand corrected.

well i tested it and it seems you were right but still i cant get it, why when both apps (creative effects and style potrait) use around 80% of the CPU, creative effects takes around 14-15 minutes to close and the style potrait just 2 minutes??
Maybe it's a bug. Is this a brand new app? I don't run stock sorry, not up to speed on the Sony specific stuff.
It could also be a simple case of neglect for our ol' Z.
Either way, cross your fingers and hope it gets solved in an update. It certainly sounds like it shouldn't be working so intensively.

no its not new and its not a case of neglect because i had flashed the app to my phone quite some time ago
But your OP says you installed some app which Sony just released?
I meant neglect from Sony; ever since KitKat our devices have had issues. But, on that note, how does (whatever old app you're talking about) working fine in the past but worse now = not a case of neglect? If the app is an identical version and your firmware is also identical version to when it was working well, but now its not working well, then it could very well be a case of wear and tear. I don't really understand, I'm just going through the process of elimination.

UPDATE: 20151015 testing package is out! Check it out for details.
Hello, I've updated the CM12.1 testing package and translated the release notes at my blog. Also took the time to support Disqus for the English blog posts... the release can be found here.
Also that I will stop regularly updating the port at October 20th, having to allocate much of my time to academic work. Security updates and minor bugfixes (as in not requiring massive porting) will continue as usual, however. Feel free to make ssuggestions!
(Note: I don't know how to patchrom so I can't do the Flyme camera app porting, or anything but the easiest features requiring porting of closed-source components, sorry about that but I'm primarily a Web/Android developer and as such don't have much time to learn about smali and the likes.)
don't know what to say ,.. but thanks for you awesome work is it's source on github? maybe we find someone who can do this

Paired Sony SmartBand Talk SWR30 with Meizu and battery of band drying within one day. When switch bluetooth on the phone off, then drying stops. Previously I have used the same band with Sony Xperia Z3 and battery lasts 4-5 days.
I can't imagine what wrong with Meizu and CM12. Factory reset of the band did not help. Bluetooth stack incompatibility? Wakelock detector shows big activity of com.android.bluetooth process.

No, currently only default settings - default digital clock (with date) and activity monitor are in the use.
After full reinstall yesterday and freezing Lifelog, today battery is much better - from 7am to the 5pm battery have 80% juice remaining, but it still worse that was with Z3.

If u don't play games, und just do chit chats etc then u don't notice any performance loss, if u play games then it will be bad ?

Revert back to Stock Settings
I'm going to try this... But I think you should remind the users to back up the original file, OP.

All kernels have it, even stock kernel so yeah u can flash, I'm using stock kernel too
For demonstration here is my Screenshot of battery life so far, will post at the end of the day again one more
Wow, this mod works wonders. I'm 10 hours off the charger, with normal usage, and it's down to 60% with 2.5 Hours of Screen on time at this time of 18:30. I would have hit 50% around 12:00 and getting 2 hours of Screen on Time with the normal usage I do. Thanks a lot for the mod!
And I noticed that playing games would worsen the use of this mod, but what about watching videos? Such as Youtube or watching videos on BSPlayer/MXPlayer?
