Hello,
First of all, excuse me for my english.
I have fixed my GPS for my LG Spirit H440N. If don't know, this is a common problem to LG's users.
I just watched one video and one guide :
1) This helped me to see where the GPS connectors are specifically for LG spirit (not the exactly cellphone, but the places are the same) . There are 3 connectors, with 2 pins each.
As I am a new user I cant post the link, but search in youtube: LG G3 Cobertura fix
From the user: Haun Fan
This man solved in another way , which is lifting the pins with pliers .
I found it very risky , so I choose another solution (2)
2) This guide shows how to open the cellphone and how to place small pieces of foil (aliminuim paper) in the connectors . ( 6 Total pieces )
As I am a new user I cant post the link, but search in google: Phone GPS repair site:instructables
The guide's cellphone only has 2 pins , do the same for the other 4
Be very patient to place the foil, it took me 30 minutes due to my poor manual skills
Make sure to bend the aluminum pieces to have a relevant thickness to make contact
Once you have finished, download the app "GPS Essentials" and select: Sattelites, just go outdoors, and start rotating your phone. It took me like 20 seconds to find my position.
Pd: I dont know if it is neccesary, but in Settings > Location I have set Only GPS to make sure that it is working.
Also I would like to put some pictures to prove it works , but again, I cant post links
The site is Imgur, and add /a/sY4G8 to the link
Somebody posted a while ago in General Thread a solution that worked for me and a couple other people - tightening up 3 bottom screws under battery cover.
PS. your English is just fine!

Thanks! I tried that and didn't work
@campagj
I found your tutorial, but I have a question for you:
I opened my spirit, unboxed the cover, removed the screw and arrived to contacts.
I have found 6 contacts, but only 5 are with pins...is normal???
Look my pictures, you can understand better....
As you can see, the two contacts on the left of mainboard, only the upper have the pin, and the lower not.
If you see the cover on the left, you can see on the upper contact the hole from the pin and lower the contact is intact, whitout any hole....
Is normal?? Also in your smartphone this was the situation???
All the contacts have to touch, or not???
Thanks!!!

I think so, i remember that one connector, at the other side of the board didnt have nothing
I tell you one thing...
My GPS (only GPS option) was not working....all the app I used, always never catch any satellite.
I tried to put a little tinfoil ball over the missing pin, and I closed, being careful not to move anything.
I can tell you that after I switched on the smartphone, now i catch the satellites in 3 seconds, and all the apps work perfectly.
I dont know if in my case was a factory error, but now (and I hope for ever, in the next days) all works great!!!
Photo show of physical u cb because I do not understand exactly.
Thank you.
Thanks a lot!!! It works for me, I tried the second solution and I am happy that it was posible!! Today I played Pokemon GO perfectly. Thanks again dude.

I have tried this. I put aluminum foil to the six pins and it was working sooo good but after two days the wireless has stopped working. I can't connect to ANY wireless connection. Whenever I try to connect to a wifi it says connecting, then saved, and its trying to connect few times and after that it says "Wi-Fi connection failure". I have also tried factory reset the phone but it wasn't solved. Do you think that its because of that ? Do you have any solution ?

Then it doesnt appear that the alu foil caused the problem? If you remove it and the problem is still there then .... Was the problem there before the 1st time you placed the alu foil?

No, no. Everything was fine. I got this problem two days after I placed the alu foil on the pins.
I woke up that morning, turned on the WiFi and everything was ok and suddenly it stopped working and I couldn't connect to the WiFi network.

hi,
since yesterday, my niki doesn´t response to touchscreen tapping if the slider is opened. i hear a very quiet metallic clicking sound if i open it up... if i try tapping the touchscreen before this little click appears, the touch works... but with slider open completely, it doesn´t. i guess this is hardware specific. i´ve tried a hardreset now, but still doesnt work any advice?
EDIT: i didnt flash any other radio...
EDIT2: sometimes it does work.
Sounds like a ribbon cable has come loose to the touch screen - send it back if it is under warranty, if not, Mike Channon has collected links to the service manuals somewhere on here which should show you how to correctly take it apart, fix it and put it back together again
Cheers,
Smiffy
I had the same problem. In my device it was: cable that goes to touch screen contacted metal on back panel.
I've solve it by finding manual to take my niki apart (http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_touch_dual/ - but it is in russian). I've done everything till 6 point. Then I put my v-card between this cable and metal. Now it's ok
I've got extra service on mine.
6 euro's a month.
handed in the phone today (same issue), and got given an new one! ;D

You ROCK! I had this exact same problem happen on my NIKI100 after I put Tom's Niki Project ROM on & immediately blamed it but after flashin back to stock the problem still occured & I was really bummin! I found this thread, tore my NIKI apart to step 6 as you described & I could see the spots on the metal of the inside back of the back cover where the cable was rubbing along with the protective plastic worn off on the cable a little bit so I suspect it was touching the metal & shorting out causing the problem (heck I'm surprised it didn't do some real damage!) so I cut about a 1" length of electrical tape & taped it to the area of the metal that it was rubbing on (I didn't see any legit reason for anything to make contact to that area for a ground so I figured it was OK. I started at the edge & ended just before the gaps where you would be able to see the tape from the other side in the battery cavity) and VOILA! it fixed it! To me it looks like a nasty design flaw on HTC's part but not expecting a recall any time soon. I suspect this fix will out last the phone & hopefully this thread will help others. I am 1/2 tempted to tear apart my NEON to see if the same design exists or if they put a piece of tape in that area.

Hm, same problem here. Thought first that it was an error of the ROM that I used..
Btw: isolated every contat that I could find (nearly ) but no result -> still my touchscreen doesn't work when my slide is open..
EDIT: has anyone PHOTO'S of their disassembly and isolation work? I the problem is different on my device 'cuz the cable hasn't worn off...
Ok,
Now I took my device apart to the last piece, took the display cable apart, taped it in completely and my touchscreen WORKS once again :-D.
Woot! Thumbs up for XDA-developers!
EDIT: Now my touchscreen doesn't work when slide's closed... Any suggestion?

ive brought my dual to a vodafone shop and they have fixed my dual. Replaced a part and software update, got windows 6.1 now, legal and my screen is working like a champ!
I have had the same problem with my touch screen except mine stopped working completely, it didn't matter if it was slide out or not. I could get the phone replaced on warranty though.
Just posting so people know this isn't just isolated case.
mine slowly stopped working.. im gonna disassemble later and try this. im glad im not alone
edit: worked a treat. some insulation tape on the metal shielding worked great.
That did't work for me! Can it be something else or is it the flex cable for shure? I'm considering buying a new flex cable on ebay! Will that fix the problem with touchscreen dos'nt work when slide is open?
theres a 99% chance that its the flex cable.. did you check it for any damage? mine had tiny tiny little dots with wire exposed. barely noticable but it was enough. try taping the cable. i dont know. if not, i'd get a new cable for sure.
It's worth a try. I've just bought a new cable. Hopefully it will make my
Dual working again. Now I just have to wait a week for it.
The cable arrived today and my dual now works perfect. Now the question is which phone i'll use, my dual or my new Diamond.. =)
hey, where did you get yours from? and how much did it cost?
i have seen ebay, but they are over 30$US including shipping.

Hey guys, I have been so much frustrated about my htc topaz....till now it is working perfectly. Since yesterday all of a sudden touch screen stops working...with ballooning effect on screen ...previously ballooning effect was noticed before 3-4 days, but i did not pay attention on it as touch screen working at that time..
What may be the probable cause is it digitizer or lcd screen gone?
I have uploaded the pictures also..
That's the Chinese Diamond2?
If so I have the same problem with a Chinese phone... There is a part of the screen that's not working fine (like a balloon on the left side of the screen). I have to press really hard and press more to the side than it should be
I've already considered in opening the phone to try to solve the problem.
Does anyone already opened his phone with success? Any pictures available to help the task?
indresh88, sorry to use your topic but I think we both need the same...
I had the same problem, is very usual in this phone. the tecnical changed the screen.

no definately not...it's factory unlocked asian version...also it is t5353 and official stock rom.
by the way how can we differentiate between chinese and factory unlock phone?
have you solve your problem?
Hi, use some standard scotch tape or tesa film. Stick it over the affected area and peel the tape off. This should unstick the digitizer again, it did the job for me quite often...
Cheers

I have the T5388i dual sim.
I'm no expert on those phones, but I think an easy way to know if the phone is HTC or Chinese version is the front camera side (on HTC is on the right and on the replica is on the left)
Other simple way is if it's dual sim than it's not from HTC.
If I'm telling some mistakes please someone correct me.
Concerning the problem... it's not solved

it helped me quite good and temporery, but how to fix it permanently...?
replace the touch screen digitizer.
eBay have many of them...
I have replaced my cracked one last month.
Two fixes for the scotch tape issue
1. Always take along some scotch tape or
2. Replace the digitizer. This can be done faily easily, see some other posts.
Cheers
I've looked at ebay for the digitizer and I've found many... the question is if they work on my phone?
I have a DUAL SIM T5388i, can anyone point me the right digitizer?
I've tried the tape but didn't worked I don't know if I'm doing it right because I've noticed no diference.
Help me!
I also have this problem, It just stopped working. I was calling, 10 minutes later when i took my phone and tried to unlock it, it did nothing, when i connect my phone in windows 7 with mobile center, I installed SOTI pocket controller, to check if it was my screen, and it was because via pocketcontroller it worked good, but how do i have to replace the screen thing, and how does it work with the tape,,
Thanks
i also had the same problem. if im not mistaken it might be due to humidity ...
i might be wrong
is there any way to fix this without replacing digitizer.
by the way i have a TD2 t5353 htc original .
Workign Solution Till Now
Hello Friends,
I have TD2 mobile and today I had same issue. I was thinking it was because of the weather or some.
I remember it did happend several time before, but when I restart the device several time it does work. So I was ignoring.... But today it did not work.. looks like going toward end... So I did soft and hard reset without and that did not helped me.
So I switched off the mobile, "heated" the touch screen gently with my hand for 1 min and started the mobile again and it worked for me .
Not sure if this is a solution, but will work.
May be I will contact Service Center here in Hyderbad and see what is wrong here?
Hope this will help you all...
Thanks.

Hello guys.
A few days ago, mi nexus 7 didn´t power up, tried pressing power and vol down for more than 30 seconds, nothing.
The screen turned on from time to time, but all i can see was some static.
After gathering some courage and reading a bit on the internet, i opened it and there it was, the battery plug was in an angle, doing a false contact.
I don´t know how that happened, it was working normally before, i didnt drop it, hit it, nothing.
Ok, then i push the plug and it fit, but mi finger slipped and broke one of the wifi antenna pin connector, it seems they are pretty weak...
I closed the tablet and it power up and works almost perfect, now the wifi signal sucks a lot, most of the time it can´t connect unless i´m really close to the modem/router.
What can i do? i still have the broken pin, can i solder it? or use something else to make the contact? return it to Asus for a fix? and i guess they will charge me.
Also i opened it again today, to take a picture, and i saw that the power plug again is slipping outside of his socket, i think there is a flaw in the design if the plug can´t keep is place...
Well, thanks in advance!!!

As a nervous amateur I would like to see this being done, what degree of heat and what size of solder wire etc are there any video footage available anywhere.
I fixed mine
actually mine also got broken ....
soldering didnt seem a good option for me
so i took one of the gold plated contact pins used for holding the sim card from an old phone and improvised ...
(you can use any of the gold plated contact pins found in old mobiles)
photos attached ...
i held it in place by insulation tape and some rubber stickers so that it wont move away ....
antenna works fine now ... full signal strength
the main thing here is to get the same material for fixing the antenna
different material would result in poor signal

noo dont use chemicals on PCB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi all,
during these months I have had a lot of problems with GPS Fix with my Z3C. These problems occurred after the update to 6.0.1 and I thought that It was a software issue.
In my case, GPS works well after upgrade but It degraded little by little. Applications like GPS Status reported a very very low satellite signal.
Reading every possible forum, I found some guys that explain how to "solve" the problem plugging the usb and powering the phone. An other post specified that the solution was not the "powering" and the fix become better if you lightly pulling the usb connector to you... and It was true! So the problem was not software.
So I opened the phone, disassembled the mainboard from the chassis and tryed to understand what part was involved in the "usb pulling solution".
I found that many connectors (like a little pin) were connected to some particular parts to the chassis (as if it were used as antenna).
In this photo you can see where the mainboard connectors impact on the chassis.
(Sorry the forum prevent me to post link or image)
And this is the specific connector involved in "usb pulling solution"
(Sorry the forum prevent me to post link or image)
It seem that this connector was linked in the edge of connection area, not in the middle as the other connector.
So I gently bent the connector upward and reassembled the phone.
After that, the GPS Status reported a signal very high. Never seen a signal so hight before!
The fix was very fast and the accuracy was constantly under 3mt
I'm not an expert, I'm only a normal user. I hope that this thread can help some other like me that need GPS works very well for run, drive and play.
Thank you for this post - I've been fighting with my GPS for months and am about ready to open up the phone too. Any chance you could post the images externally somehow? It would make this a lot easier to follow for me.

Anyway... start watching "sony z3 compact disassembly" on youtube. You need some tool to do this without destroy the phone. But trust me, is not so difficult. In particular, take care about the battery door opening.

I've already disassembled a plenty of Sony phones (from Xperia X10 pretty much to every single later Sony phone that was available in Poland) and the issue with bent connectors is very very common. I also had this problem in my Xperia PLAY where my WiFi and cellular network connectors were bent and were linked on the edges of the plates.

Do you have a connectors map?
Hell. I had the same problem : suddenly the GPS signal became very weak, almost unable to catch any satellites and degrading over time, so since I still had 1 month warranty I sent it to the repair center and they changed my PBA (which is the motherboard, I believe.) It is now working like a champ again. If I were to get the problem back in a few month, after my warranty expiration, I'll definitively try to do what you did.
Thanks for the info.

Can anyone confirm this please? It looks weird to me. According to service manual all antenna connectors are on secondary side of mainboard (accesibble without removing battery, just after opening rear cover and removing that frame around, which has 4 screws, if I remember correctly).
It works

It works. All the connectors are on one side of the motherboard (not the battery side). The picture gepp81 posted shows the antenna area where the connectors connect to, so not the actual gps connector.
Thanks a lot!
I had absolutely no GPS signal.
After trying every software tweak / wipe / rom.... (I was hopping it was a software issue) I finally tried your solution, straighten all the little contacts, and now my GPS has a wonderful signal!!!
I destroyed my back cover, but it doesn't matter I prefer that than no GPS
Wow, thank you. I can also confirm this. Despite that official service manual says something different.
Previously zero signal at all (23 satellites with 0 SNR), sometime 1 very weak satellite. Now 9 fixed, another 6 visible. Those 15 doesn't have very strong signal, but it's usable.
I am thinking about using some thin wire to improve it (like this: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/GPS-issue/m-p/1006245/highlight/true#M12642 ).
Another successful story here - gps stopped working, i updated my rooted kitkat to slimm 2.4, opened phone, did the connectors trick, but gps was still dead. Then after few days i checked "Device only" in Location settings and GPS came back to life! Now works with "High accuracy" mode as well

Also had problems with my gps. First I thought it was water damage. But pulling with the usb connector made it work again.
Did the trick with bending the connector. Now I have signal but is is not very strong.
Is there a way to make the signal stronger?
Is the copper strip the antenna?
Can I replace this with another copper strip that works as a better antenna?
Or .....?
If your gps antenna is somehow damaged, you could fix it using silver paint:
http://www.2spi.com/category/silver-paints-pastes/
I didnt try it, but friend of mine uses it to fix broken boards on laptops... Should work in phones too
Same problem. I sent my phone to service. They changed motherboard. Now GPS Works perfect. And my warranty is extended for 2 years, because of different motherboard and IME. Thanks Sony, very good service

Had the same on my Le Pro 3 after a dive in my swimming pool
I solved this problem by changing the whole board module, it contains the 2 mics (multimedia+phone) + charging port.
If you want to do it, you certainly have to buy a new screen also and have desoldering 2 wires from the speaker and resoldering back on the new board.
Here is the board I bought:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...034.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.48d74c4dxSCKI8
You'll find a lot of different displays at different prices too.
Good luck

Hello, i have such problem
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/help/le-pro-3-x720-microphone-doesnt-calls-t3867413
What do you recommend me do to? To buy new board (the one you showed) would fix the issue?
i just dont understand the part "buying new screen" . My screen works totaly fine, why do we need to change? Can we not put it back by a special glue (for screens) ?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Sorry for your phone, it's hard to say it's related to the mic board because it's working after the reboot... but maybe it's a question of temperature... for the money that this board costs, you can give a try.
Now, why the screen? because I'm quite sure that when you will remove your screen, you'll damage it. Or I'm really bad for that I opened it two times and broke it two times  I also bought a B7000 special glue.
I hope you'll find a fully working phone soon.

You are right, the only way to successfully remove the screen is carefully with a Heat gun. But long enough that the screen will fall off, when you tilt it to the side. The heat shield will also have residual glue.
