I would like some help understanding how to root my edge plus. the model is SM-G928T and it's version 6.0.1. Last time I tried following a tutorial it ended tragically wrong where it said "kernal was not SEandroid enforcing" and I had to pay 65 dollars to get it unbricked. Can someone please help a newbie like me and potentially anyone in a similar situation understand a safe way to root my phone that works? Thank You!
This is literally the easiest any root will get, I don't think you can fail this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-...-root-s6-edge-plus-marshmallow-6-0-1-t3325477
If you don't know how to for example use Odin, I suggest you look up tutorials about it, as it's essential in all Samsung ROM installing and other shenanigans
65 dollars to get a phone unbricked is a rip-off, with Odin you can revert from the state you paid for for free, with about 4 files

I got an unlocked g900A Galaxy S5 off of Amazon and attempted to root it using towelroot. When this didn't work I followed instructions from some thread which were to flash an old kernel, root the phone, and then reflash the newer kernel. I did this using Odin and everything seemed fine. Then I accidentally let the phone die and when I plugged it back in I got the "System software not authorized by ATT" message with "Secure fail: kernel" at the top. I suspect this may be because it accepted an OTA update without my knowledge but honestly I don't know. I don't know how to proceed from here.
I imagine that I'll need to flash a stock rom/kernel/whatever to get it back. If anyone could give me specific details about what exactly I need to flash and download links, that would be much appreciated. I'm very much a beginner and terrified of messing this up further.
I'm fairly certain it was running 4.4.4. I don't remember what version the kernel was.
I NEED to be able to return this to Amazon and I doubt a phone in this state would make them very happy. I am just in over my head and any help would be much appreciated.
First off, I have little knowledge about rooting, custom recoveries.. etc. I'm a noob.
My problem is that I do have my Samsung Galaxy E5 (S978L) rooted with King Root (verified with root checker).
But I am trying to get rid of King Root and replace it with SuperSU. I have the SuperSU-Me app installed, but it
doesn't get past "Processing, please wait...". The regular SuperSU app gives me an error when I try to install it,
and it says "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" I have to select normal? Since my device is not listed
under TWRP's install menu... and the normal install fails leading me to "Installation failed! please reboot and try again"
which obviously doesn't work for me. I think I read something about unlocking bootloaders, but I am not sure where
to go from that, since samsung is harder to do that with? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also I don't think it helps that this E5
is the straight talk tracfone model.
Bottom line is I am trying to replace King Root with SuperSU, and install TWRP onto my POS phone. Any help is appreciated. Once again, I have no clue about anything really. Trying to learn this stuff
Try this SuperSu Me version, it worked like charm for me,

I started a thread about thishere.
Has some useful info for you. Supersume got rid of king root for me, version 6.7 did it I'll try to upload it later. Also as far as a custom recovery, we are still working on making a permissive kernel which I feel like I am getting closer, but not having a computer to test with if I brick I'm out the game for a little bit lol. Also in my thread at my latest post I explained how to find the proper partitions to dump with dd in terminal emulator, to make a proper nandroid. Many useful articles on this site. Good luck. Maybe you should merge this with the other thread I linked and started for our sneaky straight talk phones. Also, once we get the permissive kernel, we can get the custom recovery going probably, bootloader needs to be unlocked too. Anyways ya, be easy.
Just a little update: I finally have SuperSU installed. For some reason, supersu me wasn't working with my king root, however once I uninstalled it, and installed KINGOroot supersu me worked...
Maybe I can now assist in your process since I have a powerful computer and a decent paying job. But my days are pretty busy. But shortly I'll be trying to make a nandroid backup after doing some reading. Have to learn some of this stuff. But my next couple days are packed. Anyways thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Hey guys.
I've managed to find a couple of videos and tutorials on rooting the A1000 (99% of them using KingRoot), but there's absolutely no info on the A1000m. While it's basically the same phone with a bit less memory, it won't root. I've tried pretty much everything I found on the web with no success. And quite frankly I'm scared to keep going, because I can't find the firmware and if I brick this stupid phone I'll probably have to pay for it, because it's not mine. Not a big deal, it's one of the cheapest devices available in my country, but I'd rather find a way to root it or at least keep it in working condition before returning it to it's owner.
Any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Even if all you can do is tell me that it's impossible to root. I just need to be sure, before I return it.

Just needed to know:
Do you tried KingRoot or skipped it because you were scared?
Tried it. And that's the one that scared me. At first it wouldn't work. Someone told me to give it another try and it said the phone was rooted. But it wasn't. All it did was break the playstore and it wouldn't let me download anything. The phone froze and restarted a couple of times... It was a pain in the ass. And the other app that came with it, King User - it wouldn't go away even after a hard reset. I had to install KingRoot again, try rooting it a couple of times until it said it was successful and then do the unroot procedure in King User to get rid of the app.
In my opinion, KingRoot is a total waste of time. Never used it before, don't plan on doing it in the future.

I haven't root a phone since my old note edge which I used to flash constantly LOL
Anyway I have an AT&T S7 Edge SM-G935A on 7.0
I'm doing a warranty swap out and I want to root it so I backup my apps with data with Titanium and then get this thing back to stock without tripping knox.
And of course I'll have to root my replacement SM-G935A so I can restore my backups.
I've read so many different walkthroughs on here I'm really not sure which way to go right now....
(And yes I did try one but it just kept getting hung up early in the process, ADB was getting mounting errors at certain steps)
I'd appreciate any guidance.
I've used ODIN and ADB in the past I'm just trying to find a walkthrough with the downloads I need and be mindful of knox so I don't screw up my swap out.
I read somewhere no matter what you do rooting will always say 0x1 in download mode once a phone has been rooted?
Don't know if it's true just saw it on an XDA-dev thread.
I'd appreciate ANY help.
Thanks a lot guys,
Kenny
I guess all hope is lost? lol
Ok, I have rooted Galaxy S4s and 5s, usually the T-Mobile versions. I just ordered a used SM-G950F off ebay. It did not say if it was Nougat or Oreo.
Been searching, and have not found my answer, so I hope someone might be able to send me a link or advise me.
Want a rooted S8. Stock rom would be ok, but I would prefer custom down the road.
This is how I have been rooting the S4s and 5s
Put SuperSU zip on phone.
Then flash TWRP from Oden and not let it reboot. Do a battery pull, and then start the phone to recovery, then flash the SuperSU from TWRP.
Can I do this with the S8 ? (SM-G950F)
Thanks!
Come on you gurus, just take 1 minute and help me out ..... ffs
or maybe I posted the question in the wrong place, or your bored with the question.
I was a mod on another type of forum, I posted a sticky ... you dumb asses

But seriously, I heard about a bootloader, (version 2?) that if I try to flash twrp might brick my phone. Have not actually pulled the trigger on buying a SM-G950F yet, but want to know if I can attain root on this device if its on android V8.0
I did try searching, but it just sits there with no results no matter what I put in the field. Might be because I am in Alaska and my internet SUCKS!
I am at the point I would pay someone like $20 via paypal if they know what they are doing and they want to give me Tech Support

The process I've followed is as follows.
Now please take into account that I flash twrp and part of that process is that data partition needs to be formatted, so make sure anything that's needed back it up.
Have a look at some roms, download one to your memory card.
Flash twrp via Odin, you will need to wipe data in twrp and return to twrp.
Flash the Rom in twrp as normal.
Now if you want just root, flashing cf-autoroot via Odin is the of other choice, flashing magisk or supersu will involve twrp so like I said earlier you'll end up wiping data.
Hope this helps in some sort of way
Thanks! I have been searching for hours in my free time to see if I can do this. I just read in a few threads that if the phone is on Oreo it would have a locked bootloader. I went thru that helping my buddy root his ATT 337 S4. Almost bricked his phone.
I will be starting with a new phone, dont care about tripping knox. Just want root so I can use titanium backup to freeze/uninstall any of the bloat. I would get a costom rom after root eventually.
I will get a SH-G950F ordered. I just didnt want to get the phone and not be able to root. Almost ordered The SH-G950U and its got snapdragon, and I read thats not the best version if I have a choice.
I love my rooted S4 but its kind a turtle so need to move forward.
Thanks So much for your help sofir786 !!!!!
