So I have a Nexus (6) device, and i thought that if i get a nexus device i will receive updates the day that they are released. It's been 2 days and i still can't update my phone to the latest version. I'm not talking about OTA here, I'm talking about factory images that are not released yet. 3 phones google has to update, 3 phones that they made!! 3 and they can't even manage that? It's pathetic really, this is the last nail in the coffin for me, after 6 years of being an android fan i will switch to ios and buy the iPhone 7. Honestly i cant wait for my phone to get updates when they are released and to be supported for 4 years!
be patient my friend
I dont like it either but buying an iphone?
Surprised 2 days of waiting so far makes you this angry... I mean I could understand the anger at waiting over a week but 2 days? Wow...
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Since they never announced a release date, you can't really say they're 2 days late. Unlike iOS each phone is different hardware from a different manufacturer. If you'd feel better they could be like Apple and push the release back till all their devices are ready. Which is all and good, till the shoe is on the other foot and your devices' update is ready and you're left waiting for the other devices.
Not saying you rant post is cool just commenting that this might be the strangest roll out so far. Usually they have them all at once. It's a little weird. Gotta say even apple beats them at this
I'd rather wait a week after rollout to get a fully cooked update rather than an immediate update that drains my battery in 1hr or turns my phone into a paperweight.
Patience. If you're so eager just install the Dev Beta. and play with that until the update comes out.

It's normal for the tablets to be first, if you noticed, it was WiFi only devices that have nougat (Pixel C, Nexus 9 wifi etc). Give it time, and we'll all have it.

Second maybe. Remember the MM rollout with the new factory image every other day situation? For awhile there nobody had any clue why there were multiple different MM images. Every time i installed an image it seemed like a new one was up as soon as i finished. When it was confirmed it was for different carrier tweaks it all made more sense, maybe they are trying to avoid that this time around.
Ask SAMSUNG fanatics how long they wait to get the new OS. ?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I am only guessing but perhaps there is a bug in the final release. Maybe something they are working on before we get it. I would rather wait a few days if that be the case.
The preview 5 is fairly close to the final version so there won't be much changes. (I have a Nexus Player and it has already updated. Frankly the only change I noted was the Beta program warning not there anymore.)
Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer.

I actually love how Google is keeping the surprise element of Gingerbread intact without any real leaks. I hope they don't allow a single substantial leak until the day of ota updating since I HATE feeling like a crack addicted donkey following a dangling carrot
We better get used to less updates anyways and be happy with our N1's as is without needing updates to keep us happy. Andy himself was saying that Android will eventually be just a once a year update: http://www.androidguys.com/2010/06/01/andy-rubin-android-updates-year/

Fixed.
The line just got cut a few days ago, wait a week until they start testing the n1 branch for it to leak.
if i recall correctly the froyo rom leaks didnt start until after froyo was announced.
by that logic im fairly sure it will take a few weeks to leak (if google follows the same weird update pattern it did last time.)
im fairly sure the nexus one branch has been in development for a while now, because the OS is finalized on the nexus (feature set wise). after the announcement the major optimization is done, and thats usually why there are several leaked copies of slightly different semi-final builds.
I'm not gonna get into it again(I already did during froyo release), but the android line isn't developed FOR the n1, it's developed primarily WITH the n1.
There's nothing N1 specific when they are doing feature sets. The Google Phone team does have an early heads up, but so does Moto, and Samsung, and just about all the big boys in the OHA.

LOL!!!!!!!!!Good one!!!
Am I the only one who creams his pants at the thought of the DINC getting an Ice Cream Sandwich port at some point?
HOLY CANNOLI.
I'm sure people will try, how well it will work is another thing.
Yep not holding my breath on the inc getting port of ics. Unless it is going to come out on a current phone then a port may be possible. But I would think the hardware acceleration will not work for a while as it will likely not have drivers for our old incs.....
While it would be great, I don't know if I need it. Out of curiosity, what do you see as the draw to ICS?
Why would you not want the latest android version?
Could you really just sit around, running Gingerbread, knowing full well that ICS is out there and you aren't running it?
That's a sad, sad thought amigo.
I'm too much of a geek to be cool with running anything but the latest android version..

It'd be about time that verizon got a nexus
exciting news that ice cream is coming up and hopefully for our phones too, will be watching here
No matter how much I love my AMOLED DInc, I'd rather have a brand new phone running ICS than trying to shoehorn it onto my "old" phone. I'm thinking ICS will be meant for phones with more power and RAM than the DInc has. So, I'd rather have a new more capable phone running the latest version of Android than cutting out features and decreasing performance to run on an old phone.
I was originally thinking I'd spring for a Bionic as soon as it was released and then use my upgrade later if I didn't like the phone. But hearing rumors about what's just over the horizon has me wanting to simply wait until January when I'm due for a subsidized upgrade. I sure hope the Nexus Prime is available on Verizon... if not, looks like I just might end up with an HTC Vigor.
So if I flash ICS, can I still root it with Unrevoked?
I had to do it, reading the Desire forums of people flashing 2.3 from HTC development site, and asking, sorry *****ing, that now they can't root... I had to say it.
I'm sure we can run it well, it's coming to the nexus s, which has a weaker CPU than the dinc.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
If someone gets ahold of the code, you can believe that someone else will make it work. It will probably only be ASOP but who cares, it will still be ICS.

So while we reported yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S II won’t be heading to Verizon, the silver lining comes in the fact that the three other major wireless carriers will indeed be getting their own models. So, the big question regarding whether or not Samsung would take the previous path in releasing these new models, in creating different looking devices for each carrier has been the question since the beginning. Thanks to Pocketnow, we can finally say that we (may) know what the handsets will look like.
There isn’t a lot of information going around here. In fact, where the above image came from is anyone’s guess. And because of that, we may want to take the above leak with the normal amount of salt on hand. We’re not sure if these are the final devices for each carrier, but we imagine that it’s certainly possible. So stay tuned, as Samsung’s event is just around the corner and we’ll have all the details we could ever want (hopefully).

Sprint usually keeps the premium phones around the $199 mark, so I wouldn't expect this to be any different. No price has been announced, but I would expect that price point, but certainly nothing higher than $249.
Me personally, I'm waiting for details on the Nexus Prime to do anything. By then, the Epic will have GB and other goodies to go with it, and the SGS2 will already have ROMs etc associated with it. I have to rely on my phone quite a bit for business, so I'm not too eager to be an early adopter. I want to ensure all the small kinks and quirks with the SGS2 are worked out before I jump on it.
Nice to see confirmation of the design in the previously-shown pic that we assumed was Sprint. Looks like a solid design. I'm going to have a real problem deciding between this and waiting for a Sprint Nexus Prime variant.
Also, thanks for citing your source instead of merely ripping off an entire article as your own.
When the SGS1 EPIC came out it was $249 and then after the 2011 the price dropped. I hope they start out at $199 cause im just gonna add a 3rd line to my account to buy the SGS2 and give my son a phone! My wife will be taking my EPIC...

Exactly. it's a bull that they are withholding the update for the note4 until after the s6 is released. wanna know why? So you buy the s6 cause it has lolli already, it's ridiculous the way carriers dictate the duration of the update process. They get the rom from Samsung, then they do their bloat thing, test it in crappy small markets, then release they've been sitting on it for over a month now just waiting for the s6 to drop. They've had so many people call and complain that they started a Web page.. lol that's pretty bad.. Don't blame Samsung for lack of the update, blame your favorite carrier. it them. That's why the g3 got it, the s5, the note3 is in testing in diff markets.. Why would one do that? because they want you to buy the latest greatest hit. Not because the s5 is of more importance due to the numbers sold.. so in conclusion, time for a new s6. Lol
Just noticed that the note 4 is now at tmoble testing phase... my guess is we're 2 weeks behind it.
dont know what is the freaking hold up !
i heard ATT note edge got the lick candy today !
I see that tmobile is testing the lollipop on the note 4, I think after they roll out the upate for the note 4 they would start foucusing on the note edge.
The excuse i got was: Since N4 and Edge are the only 2 phones compatable with Samsung VR1 they were waiting on the manufacturer of the vr to finish so they can begin coding in the VR part to LP. They didnt want to telease LP without the VR stuff teady to go. Aftet seeing all the complaints about battery drain and so on with 5.0 on the N4s that received it, i cant wait to see what happens when you hook up VR to your N4/Edge with 5.0...probably a nice little explosion...lol
Lollipop getting closer! Now at T-Mobile testing phase!

Ha! You have to look in the right places I guess. Problem for me is that I've got things running so sweetly with hyperdrive, foerverlocos theme and some xposed modules I'm a bit reluctant to take the plunge for now. I checked out lollipop on my Note 3 and having ART is a nice improvement but I missed Xposed and even more so, Tweaked! Indeed I put Tweaked back on. Looking forward to hear about folks experience with Lollipop on T-mobile Edge.

So what you really want, is multi-window Android, and a launcher capable of showing running applications.
There are a number of 'hack' implementations of this idea, samsung has one, omnirom was working on one last year (haven't heard anything about it in a while), there is this "remix"... there is evidence that google themselves are working on it, but they are taking a more careful approach to it as the hardware Android runs on grows to make this feature more relevant. I sure can't see the use of it on a phone or TV, but a large tablet could benefit from it greatly, or a laptop.
For example, this commit to the Android window manager mentions multi-window: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/baf6bef001a582fea275bf891294cf1fe9d5472e
The main thing I want is the multi window. I've gone back to my gn10.1 2014 for working out b/c constantly switching b/t google music and jefit was kinda getting on my nerves. Downside is that the gn10.1 speakers suck compared to the n9. Luckily best buy has the charge 2 on sale. almost got the UE but it seemed a but to trebley for my tastes, sounded clean though.
looks good. have nexus 9 with keyboard so the Remix OS would be cool on the Nexus 9.
No android 5.1.. no good multitasking.. supported kickstartar $1.
(If you haven't known about this yet)
You can now pledge $1 and get early access to Remix OS ROM for Nexus 9.

Are the battery issues possibly not ROM related, but device? Curious how this will run on the n9. (If you mean you are using the RemixOS on the actual Jide tablet that is)
I have the tablet and it's a 8500 battery. I believe it's a software issue. They have a way to go on software development to make this a daily driver.

They only said May, but right now Jide is likely occupied with fixing their Ultra Tablet. Users are having bugs, and I can't imagine the $1 tier is a priority.
