Hello, I have Two galaxy note 3. one from t-mobile and the other is international with a t mobile sim card. I have been trying to edit the NV data on the international phone so that I can use T mobile's LTE Bands but without any luck. Moreover, I read somewhere that I could copy QPST NV data from my Tmobile phone to my international one, but also without any luck. The international phone is stuck on Edge (GSM Only), and every time I try to change it to WCDMA/LTE I would instantly lose service and have to restore to NV data.
If anyone can help me convert my International Phone Bands that would be great, I need both phones because the t mobile phone belongs to my wife . Hence, I'm always travelling I decided to keep the international for me.
Best Regards,
Was the international phone always stuck on edge before changing nv data?

Yes. I tried contacting Technical support they said they would figure it out, and it switched to H+ for two seconds before going back to edge. And it's like this everywhere in my city. I would get full bars while sitting on the balcony but it only connects to Edge.
So changing nv data did not make any difference? The SIM card gets 3G or 4g in another phone? Tried a different SIM card?

I apologize because I think I may have posted my questionin the wrong place two days ago. I'll see if I can delete it. I hope a few people here can answer me.
My question is that I already have a voice data account with tmobile and SIM card for that account in my Galaxy S Vibrant. Can I remove the SIM from the vibrant and place it in this particular International unlocked P1000 Galaxy TAB to use this P1000 as phone and data just by moving the SIM card? Or do I have to still notify tmobile that I am moving the SIM to this unlocked P10000 device? And will all features of this international version then work....the phone and 3G data with my SIM from the working Vibrant? If I can just move the SIM card is there anything else that I have to know or have to do?
All US carriers consider Samsung Galaxy Tab as a mobile broadband data device and make difficult to walk around this decision.
Since you are going to get a Tab not from T-mobile, it will not have your IMEI number recorded and might treat your Tab as a phone allowing for both voice and data. The issue might be only that you will not get 3G for data because software and hardware do not support unique 1700/2100 AWS frequency bands utilized by T-mobile in the US.
Do you have the phone dialer icon? If not you will need to flash a rom so you have a dial pad.
Thank you both for some answers.
The reason I was looking at this imported version was because I read that this Samsung tab already allowed telephone and since I already had a working 3G and telephone SIM from tmobile I thought this was the way to go. I really wanted this Samsung Tab to do telephone so that was the real reason even looking at this particular item.
No I have not ordered this yet. I wanted to ask the questions BEFORE I paid the money to find out that it will not work in my situation?
So what I am reading from both of you is
1. I probably will not get 3G, and
2. I would need a dialer Icon from somewhere.
Not getting 3G is a "do not purchase this" issue then for me.
Any ideas on the Samsung Tab then? I do NOT mind signing it up with tmobile, I just also wanted it to do bluetooth phone, 3G and then only need to carry this one device.
You guys are great
Thank You
The T-mobile tab can be unlocked. After it is unlocked you can flash it with a European rom and Roto's modem swithcher. You can then run 3G on any carriers sim card and switch to 2g (edge) and phone with T-Mobile using Roto's modem switcher.

WoW. Thanks for that info.
Wonder if you do all this and will hear incoming calls if you are in 3G mode. (i guess this is what the Roto's switcher does, it places it in 2G or 3G). Then if you could/would hear it ring while in 3G, for an incoming call you would then have to switch to the 3G mode with this Roto switcher? Trying to get the call before voice mail kicks in? (what is it, an icon for an on-off type thing of its installed software).
Has anyone actually done any of this?
Yes its been done by many Tab owners. Search the galaxy tab developers section for how to flash roms, modems and kernals. You'll find a treasure trove of information on how to improve the Galaxy tab. The Developers here at XDA are an incredible group of people and most are willing to share their development findings with other Tab owners.
Good Luck.

Do I understand you correctly saying that T-mobile Tab after flashing can get 3G and voice phone on any carrier Sim?
This would be my "dream". So far I can only get either voice with phone Sim or 3G data without phone capability. BTW, the latter requires Sim with paid data service separate from smartphone. Roto's swither is just a utility flashing either phone modem or 3G data modem.
Would you mind to give more details supporting your post.
P.S. European Tabs have phone voice capability and a dialer out of box. Not extra flashing is needed.

Voice + EDGE data OR OR OR 3g data/ no voice NOT NOT NOT both!!
You cannot get 3G data and voice at the same time on the Galaxy Tab. With the modem switcher you can switch between 3G data only and 2G (edge) data and voice.
Until the development community can come up with a method to run 3G data and voice at the same time (if possible) the modem switcher is the best answer to the problem.
Also the the T-Mobile Tab can be unlocked so that any GSM carrier's sim card can be used. This allows you use the sim cards from Simplemobile or any other GSM carrier and not be locked into a T-Mobile sim card.
Anyone live here in MD and want to make some money setting me up doing this thread hack/install for me?
I am a T-Mobile customer and here is set up on my T-Mobile tab:
1.Tab running Roto's JME v4 (European firmware that will allow voice+edge)
2. Roto's Modem Switcher (switch between 3G only or Voice+Edge)
3. My old Vibrant SIM card (Voice+Data)
4. Broke IMEI so i could use my Vibrant SIM to go online and stop getting re-directed to t-mobile site.
So basically i use my tab as a phone now but only getting voice+edge, if i want faster speeds i switch over to 3G using the Modem Switcher. The only way you can get both voice+3g is if you unlock the tab and use AT&T sim, if you want to use T-Mobile sim that option is not available unless a modem comes out that allows both voice+3g.
Hope this helps in making your decision.

Hello and thanks very much,
Seems that you are a match to my scenario. Are you happy with everything the way it works now (voice/2Gdata).
Do you have Caller ID working in any setting/switch?
And to make sure I understand this part. If I am in 3G mode I will NOT ever know of an incoming call by any pop up or beep or anything? The only way to know if some one even tried to call is to go to voice mail from 2G/voice being switched? (se, I am not a voice mail user. i have my Vibrant tmobile voice mail turned off at tmobile.)
So what i read at the top of this thread about having to unlock it is not the case for me?
Do I have to remove anything or add anything else?
Having to do anything at all other than these 4 things you listed for me is not needed?
That's very interesting. How do you "break" IMEI?
And these installs that you did list, is this the exact order to do these things?
And what about the thing where someone said I need a phone icon?
How do you switch to phone mode and dial?
BTW how is it as a phone with Bluetooth device? How is the volume (at both ends). Can you hear okay?
And I think one last question. If you happen to be in a wifi spot and using the tab in wifi mode, does the phone work at all?

No true. If you flash the at&t tab with Roto firmware, and install the bell modem, you can have 3g and voice with an at&t sim card, but again, at&t tab only does this.
Dear noreturn
If you so eager to get it and need help send me PM. I am almost your neighbor.
I would not recommend you breaking (meaning erasing file containing) Imei.
You have two other options
- get At&T tab, unlock it use on Tmobile with Vibrant sim. You will get voice and Edge which is very usable around dc-md-va. 3g will be only on att.
- get European Tab that is unlocked and use it on same way as #1 but no extra firmware flashing is needed.
Unlocking of either Att or Tmobile Tab is easy the same is true about flashing. however it takes more time.
Caller id works as on any phone.

Yes I really do want to get this samsung with voice.
So are you saying get this version of the Samsung tab and use my tmobile vibrant SIM?
Then install that modem switcher thing is all? And I guess I read about a dialer icon or something?
European Tab has everything for voice and Edge but Tmobile tab just cheaper.
Dialer comes installed with European, on Tmobile it appears after flashing.
Hope you understand your options. Modem switcher helps only if you have paid data service or erased your Imei. The last case is legally questionable thats why I would not advise it.

True. I should have clarified my response in that I was referring to the T-Mobile version.
I have the Hong Kong version, which has the same 3G frequence with At&t.
I use a At&T sim card and has 3G or H on phone and data works perfect.
For t mobile sim card you will only get edge for voice and data.
If you have any question you can email me.
Jimmy
Its kind of pricy,it cost me almost 700.00,but you don't have to change anything.
It depends on what carrier you use Tmobile 2G, AT&T 3G.
I love the device.you can hold it by one hand and use other hand to surf.

I bought a Htc Verizon Trophy and had it factory unlocked by Verizon . Popped in my AT&T sim card and it only gets edge and not 3G . I performed several hard resets and entered the correct APN settings and still no 3G. T-mobile sim card works also but edge is expected. Voice and Internet work great but I was under the impression that it was dual mode and has the AT&T 3G radios and should work on 3G.
Any suggestions or pointers on getting the 3G working?
Thanks
Download "HTC Connection Setup" under the HTC apps in the Market. Select AT&T from the settings and it should help you out.
Also, make sure your AT&T area offers 3G coverage. In my area of Northwest PA, 3G coverage is almost none existent. Basically, if your sim allowed 3G on another phone before, it should be okay (or check AT&T coverage map).
Be careful, I used this program to set my Verizon settings and now I can't get data on Verizon anymore. . Guess that's what I get for playing around.

Did you restore your trophy to a backup from before you used HTC connection setup? I just did the interop unlock for my trophy as well and I cant get 3G data back. Im hoping restoring the phone to an old backup will fix the problem. Verizon better not have somehow blocked our phones from getting 3G!
Hi, I have non rooted ATT S4 and typed the following *#*#4636#*#* on my keypad. I do not recalling changing anything at the time. However now the phone no longer picks up LTE. The menu is always saying WCDMA preferred and I cannot change this. I did a Google search and apparently a factory reset is supposed to remedy, tried that to no avail.
When I put the same ATT sim card in my T Mobile Note 3 I do get LTE. signal, so I dont believe its relating to plan issues. I obviously must have done something when I went into that menu as the S4 was working on LTE fine prior to entering *#*#4636#*#*
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I actually removed my SIM card and entered the above code and with no SIM inside the S4, it reads LTE/GSM auto prl. Soon as I put my sim is sticks to WCDMA preferred. Not sure if this helps or not.
Just an update. method of elimination performed.
I just put in my wife's sim in the so called " problematic" S4 and it registers on LTE ATT straightaway. Thus issue must be APN related. on MY sim. Kicker being why is that I get LTE on my T mobile note 3 on ATT then but when I put the same SIM in the S4 I get HSP?

So did you resolve the problem. The problem is either your sim is bugged or the phone needs to be repaired.

Not sure. I wrote my observations above earlier. Put wife's sim in S4 and it picks up LTE on ATT no worries. Put my ATT sim inside the S4 and it goes to 4G HSPCA.
Like I mentioned, I cannot understand the logic behind this as when I put my SIM in my Note 3 is shows LTE but when in the S4 it dont.

Thanks. The phone is bugged or if you rooted you might have encountered a error.
Not rooted just typed in those commands.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk 4
what are you apn settings with your sim in vs your wifes.. it may be changing them based on the sim..
also what is the model number in /system/build.prop
I noticed when modifying mine with nexus to get google wallet on .. that the lte menu went away and only get 4g.. changing it back fixed it.. so something also looks at that on certain f/w versions.
My buddy just gave me his T-Mobile Note 3 so I started using it. I was using the S4 before and I was always getting LTE no matter where I was. Now that I am using the note 3, I keep getting the edge network everytime, and sometimes I will get 4g but that is at very rare places. Is there a setting to change the band on the phone to make it work on att?

With the same SIM card? Or with another SIM card/another mobile network?
Anyway, you can try to change the band with this menu: *#2263# (*#BAND#)
You can find other Samsung secret codes with the 'Secret Code Explorer' menu (in the Shortcut Master app).

I tried numerous sim cards. Anyways I did the band thing and changed it to all. seems I get the 4g now, but it eventually goes back to edge, so the only fix is to restart the phone to get it back to 4g. any fix to this?

Hi guys,
I bought a Verizon s8 in the states and wanted to use it in Europe. I live in the Netherlands, so I swapped in my Vodafone some instead of using the Verizon Sim and everything works fine besides mobile data. I can not change the APN settings as they are locked. Carrier says it's Verizon though it's using the Vodafone Network.
So I was wondering, can I flash the firmware with a european version to get access to the APN settings and remove the carrier lock?
Best
the s8 verizon is not locked just put your sim card in and thats it.you cannot flash international rom on the us version odin wont let you it will fail even if you somehow made it it will brick the phone.the reason is because the us s8 version uses snapdragon chipset and the s8 international version uses exynos chipset they are completely different.
the option you have is to flash the us unlocked version to the verizon s8 i did on mine i have verizon also.

Tv87, I am in the exact situation as you. Have you resolved your problem? If so, what was the solution?
I just moved to the Netherlands a few weeks ago and switched my S8's SIM Card from Verizon to Vodafone. Everything worked fine except for mobile data. The Vodafone rep told me that my APN settings were grayed out / locked; therefore, until they could be edited, my phone would not receive mobile data.

They are not locked, the phone still thinks it has a verizon sim and that's why you cant edit the settings, do a complete factory reset.
And anyways, even with editable apn settings you wont get lte, because your s8 is lacking the european lte bands.

What makes you say that?
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Che...on-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933
Says:
"In Europe, most carriers base their networks on bands 3 (1800 MHz), 7 (2600 MHz) and 20 (800 MHz). China, on the other hand, uses a whole different 4G LTE standard - while the Western world has rolled out FDD-LTE networks, China and large parts of Asia use TDD-LTE."
And several places online show all those as being supported on the g950u.

I did a factory reset while my Vodafone SIM Card was in the phone. I am now getting the following message:
Sorry, we're having trouble activating your phone.
If you're moving your phone number from your old phone to this one, make sure your old phone is turned off.
In addition, I get the following message on the very next screen:
You can set up your phone using Wi-Fi, but you won't be able to make or receive calls until your phone has been activated on the Verizon network.
Is there anyway to unhinge my phone from the Verizon network!? Before I left the United States, Verizon assured me my phone was not locked to their network; however, it appears to be based on the messages received after factory resetting my phone.
