Moisture Detected only on dock S7 Edge G935F - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello, I'm experiencing this weird issue with my phone, after last update few days ago I put the phone on my Samsung S4 dock and the pop-up saying that charging has been disabled because the usb port was wet or dirty, but the phone was perfectly dry. Then I tried to charge it with a USB cable and IT WORKED and with wall charger (quick charge) as well but when I put it on the dock the damn moisture detection alert pops up and it doesn't charge.
I also tried with another dock, Samsung Tab4 dock (the big white one) and nothing changes, but both docking stations work with my girlfriend's S4....
I'm going crazy, please help me....

Had the exact same problem with my s7. I think it must be a bug in the update. Kept getting moisture detected when in desk and car dock but not on normal charger. Had to flash back to previous firmware to fix the problem. Going to wait until next update and hope the problem is fixed.

Had the exact same problem as well. I did not flash it back to the previous firmware version and was hoping that the next update would fix the problem but unfortunatly it didn't. I updated my S7 a few days ago and the problem is still there. I keep my fingers crossed that they will soon fix it in one of their futur updates.

Same issue
I was googling for a solution and came across this thread so thought I'd reply and see if it's been resolved for anyone else.
Whenever I plug in to my car charger I get the "moisture detected" message. I can charge fine from a wall charger. My phone is the S7 Edge. It started doing it after the last update. My phone has never been in water, or even splashed. It's frustrating, due to my job, I use the car charger far more often, and now I can't.

I was also searching the web for a solution and came across this thread. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 (no edge) and has the exact same behaviour since I've updated it in early September.
I am trying to charge it on an official Samsung dock from a few years back (Galaxy S3). Everytime I get the moisture detected error, however it charges fine on every other charger I have. The latest October update didn't fix this problem

Hello, I experience the same issue. Whenever I plug in the phone to my car it detects moisture although the phone has never been in any contact with water whatsoever. Wall chargers work perfectly fine. Is this issue connected to the latest update?
Are there any updates on this topic, any solutions?
Thanks a lot!

having same problem with my s7. Both of my Motorola car chargers cause this error message to occur, although the chargers work fine when charging my car's Bluetooth speaker. my other chargers in the house work fine also.

I feel your pain
Exact same issue with a brand new, mint from the box S7 Edge. It displays the "moisture detected" message on all three docks in my house, yet is fine charging off a cable, with an adaptive fast charger, regular charger or even the wall wart that came with a Google Chrome Audio. It looks like something the dock sends out to tell devices that attach to it is confusing the phone firmware. I had a Note 4 prior to this, and the dock nullified the adaptive smart charger function, so clearly there is something more than just pass thru going on with the docks. It did charge the Note 4 though, albeit at the slow rate.

Same here, S7 edge charges perfectly on all cable and cheap China docks, but NOT on the official Samsung EDD-D200BE. The only difference I see is that all cheap dock are really pass thru and this Samsung dock is trying to do something with audio (has a audio jack) and other intelligent things.
Probably too intelligent for their own S7.

[Q] Lock Sreen Won't Slide When Charging

I'm having an issue when the Focus is charging. In this state, the lock screen will not slide up to give me access to the phone. Typically it will slide up about 1/4" only then comes back down.
Is there a setting for this or is this a feature ;-}
Anyone else having similar issues?
Problem Solved! See post 5.
I am able to unlock my phone while charging. Have you tried rebooting the phone and seeing if the problem persists after that?
Mine if fine and can lock/unlock/use while charging.
I can unlock, but I can't get into the settings menu at all when it's charging. I can do everything else, and get into settings in other ways if they're linked from a program, just not through the main interface while charging. It's very strange.
Problem Solved - Don't buy AT&T ZERO Charger Kit
Hi Everyone,
I found the problem causing my Focus to "pseudo Lock up" when charging.
As I was troubleshooting this problem, I first noticed my focus did not lockup when using a car charger or when plugged into my computer. This led me to consider why it was only happening when plugged into the wall. So, I tried a different charger, the one which came with my Focus, and there was no problem. Then I tried the charger that came with my Tilt 2, working fine there too.
So the problem is with the wall charger I was using. This charger is the AT&T ZERO Charger Kit. At this point, I am not sure if it the problem is with the individual charger or with the ZERO brand. I will be returning this charger tonight and at that time will ask them to allow me to try another one to see if the same problem manifests.
I will report back to let you all know.

I second this! I was using an LG charger with same specs as the charger that came with Focus. It charged it but wouldn't let me use a lot of features of the phone. The stock charger works fine, as I use it at work all day. Another day of streaming from Zune and Last.FM for 6-7 hours!
Do not buy the AT&T ZERO Charging Kit
Hi Everyone,
So I confirmed the AT&T ZERO Charging Kit does not work properly with the Samsung Focus.
I returned the wall charger I purchased and while at the store, we opened another unit and tried it and the problem replicated.
At this point, I do not know if the problem is limited to the Focus or is all Windows Phones. If anyone else has a ZERO wall charger, and a different phone, please let us know your findings.
Do not buy this device to use with a Focus as it is not compatible with the Focus.
Same problem here - AT&T Zero charger and Focus will not unlock when charging. When I take the cable out of the charging brick and plug the cable into a USB port on my computer the phone resumes charging AND unlocks just fine.
The iGo charger that I have works fine no lock screen issues.
On a separate note, my work exchange server mandates the lock screen, but unlike WinMo 6.x you can't set the time interval when the lock screen activates. I had mine at 24 hours of dormancy before it would activate. WP7 only allows you to keep the screen on longer. I hope they add some more options for this. I can't stand having to punch in the four digit code every time I use the phone.
I am using the stock charger and it slides up 1/4 of the way several times then it finally sides up. The touch is then slow to respond, but it eventually works again. Anyone else having this issue? I have tried this charger and an old Tilt 2 charger.
Review of AT&T Zero Charging Kit
There is a review of the AT&T ZERO Charging Kit at:

This is the same charging kit that was incompatible with my Samsung Focus.

Wall charger no longer works

Have had my ATT S4 since ot was first released in the US in late April. All the while, i have been charging using 2 or 3 samsung chargers that i used for my previous Infuse. One morning, i woke up, grabbed my phone off the charger and it didnt charge. Had not previously had this problem. Phone always charged rather quickly. Phone will not acknowledge the charger when it is plugged into a wall, even the charger packaged with my S4.
Fnny thing is that if i plug the USB into a computer that is charging, my battery charges. Not nearly a far as it did before, probably twice as long until 100%. so, i can charge via computer and usb....thats is.
I am rooted and do mot want to have to unroot and go into ATT store and deal with the nuisance of getting a new phone.
Anyone else having this problem? Was not able to find much in archives. Have seen some others mention this on yahoo/andriod aite or two but not a lot of info on why and if there is a work around.
It look like a faulty charger, borrow a friends and find out for certain, if you dont want to go into a store to have it checked out, just buy another charger from ebay/amazon.
John.
No, not a charger issue. I have tried about 4 different chargers and a docking station. No dice. Only USB works.
I have the same issue with International I9505.
Even with PC or Laptop - it sometime charges sometime not.
When connected to PC or Laptop, the device is not being recognized as I cant transfer the files.
It happened when I drained my I9505 up to 5% and then switched off and then connected to wall charger.
Then when I woke up in the morning, it showed only 33% - I was surprised. Then I again tried to charge - it didnt get recognized.
Any solution? I am planning to do the factory reset.
I dont think its charger or hardware issue as I recently upgraded through OTA and facing different issue like this one and also the 3G

[Q] Galaxy S4 won't charge

I should clarify the title by saying that trying to charge this phone is resulting in a number of odd results.
So firstly, I've tried using the wall-mounted AC charger. I then tried using USB on my computer, in 3 different usb ports. The phone was charging perfectly less than 24 hours before this problem began.
I plugged it in as per usual, and it didn't show the little lightning bolt on the batter icon like it should. It wasn't registering that it was plugged in. I tried plugging it into my PC, and it wasn't showing that it was connected via USB. In addition to that, my computer was failing to install the drivers for it. I went back to the AC charger, and tried a few different outlets, including one on a power strip. Nothing worked.
I searched online, and found that other people had this problem, and could only fix it by resetting to factory default settings. One person even had to do it twice to get it to work. So I did this, and it still didn't work. I tried charging my old phone with this Ac charger and cable, and it wouldn't work either. So I thought it must be a fault in the cable. So I dug up the cable (also micro-usb) for my old phone, and tried it. It worked just fine for my old phone, but my S4 still had the same problem, but with something new. It would say "Dock connected" but still not charge.
As of right now, it seems to be charging properly with my new AC mount and old usb cable, but I'm worried that this could happen again. Considering this seems to be a problem for other people too, what should I do about it? Is there some way to prevent this sort of thing from happening? Was it purely the other cable, given the fact that it didn't work with my old phone either? I'm on an extremely tight budget, and this phone is my only way of being contacted for job interviews, so having it in working order is very important. Any advice would be very appreciated!
Having exactly the same problem... couldn't find over the internet a solution yet or a position about it...
Affraid it's a hardware issue and have to send to the assistance...
Anyone know what to do?
Yup having the same issues - but i noticed only having charging issues when battery reaches 20% or the low battery notification pops up
it detects that a usb is connected but it wont charge
Solutions:
- dont let it go below 20 which is ****
- some people claim that if you use a 5pin charger instead of the 4pin which samsung includes solves the prob
Mine is a little more serious I think... haven't found a solution like that yet.
I have to connect/disconnect multiple times and it suddenly works.
But between those connects/disconnects it presents multiple problems, it appears on notification bar "Dock Connected", sometimes appears "Dock Connected" and on the notification bar appears "Suggested Apps (Anchoring)", other times it appears "Dock Connected" and the volume bar appears on the screen and stay there freeze (the phone works, but the bar doesn't disappear)... Sometimes the phone starts charging and suddenly stops, other times it says it's charging and if I remove the charger it keeps the charging symbol on the battery icon...
It's completely crazy, gonna take to service I guess.
Have you tried blowing out the usb connector on the phone with a can of compressed air?
If there is a minute piece of dust there it may be shorting something out - error that dock is connected. I know this happens to other phones, there was a big thread about it on the S3 forum. Might be a simple little thing like that...
Unfortunately that doesn't work for me, will send to service, let's see.
have you solved this problem and how?????

Yep, chalk up one more with the same problem!
At first I thought it had something to do with Aviate, a custom launcher from Yahoo (actually a pretty sweet one at that!)
But I guess not.
My work-around is to reboot the phone while connected. It charges fine while turned off and seems to keep charging when booting while plugged in.
Still... this is a stupid work-around and I want this fixed properly.
Any news from any of you guys?

Had this problem today. Suddenly out of nowhere "Dock is connected" message appeared after plugging the charger in and out. Tried to clean out the dock with stick and cotton on the edge. Then turned off and plugged in charger. Problem exists. Phone charges but stops regularly. It is very annoying when you dont know how to fix this kind of problem.
Any new solutions?
Right after this post, I froze the app "battery doctor 4.9.2" using Titanium Backup Pro (you can just uninstall it i guess). Then just plugged charger and now it's already Almost 90% without any interruption.

Amazing! I've dealing with this problem for weeks and internet didn't give me any good answer, but the whole problem was a baterry monitor apk that for some reason was interfiering with the charger. Thank you so much!
I had this problem too and in my case it was a hardware problem. When i start the charging it kept repeating the start proces of charging with the vibration and the grey battery icon(in case the phone was turned off). The battery icon with the green charging light just didn't showed up. I tried many things but nothing helped. I let the phone keep charging for the whole night but in the morning i saw that it didn't charged anyway!
Then i went to a local phone reparation shop(none official samsung) and they knew immediately recognized the problem and it was the usb/charging connector where you plug it in the phone. They fixed it in 1 hour for a cheap price and from then(i think a few months ago) it charges back perfectly. It seems it's a disease with S4's.
In my previous post I was happy thinking that all this charging problems were solved after uninstalling battery apk. But, in fact, my S4 charges very slowly after that incident. I have tried two other samsung adapters (galaxy s4 mini; grand prime). First one results the same (up to 5 hours charging), the latter was comparably shorter (up to 3 hours), but still slower than it used to be (2 hours normally). So I highly suspected the hardware might be the reason. Thank you for your information, now I will also have the phone checked at some local repair shop. And give feedback of course.

You probably got some water damage in your port. What you need to do is clean it. I used pure alcohol and a toothbrush for that. After that I flashed a custom kernel so I could enable fast charge true usb.
That's the reason your phone is charging slowly, it thinks it's connected true usb. So you need to boost the usb charging. After a few charge cycles I could revert back to my standard kernel and the problem was fixed.
I think ur right Lenny.
Mine S4 got wet last weekend and now i am also getting the " Dock is connected" message when i plug in the charger cable.
I can charge my phone but sometimes while charging i hear the sound go off and on what you hear when unplugging the charger.
I will try your solution and hope it will fix mine too. Thanks for posting ur tip!
I suggest you go buy a new genuine cable for an s4, the s4 does actually require a special cable capable of 2A charge rate otherwise you can end up in all sorts of bother.
Thank you all for sharing tips. I cleaned the port as suggested, then replaced my cable. Now everything is back to normal.

Same problem - galaxy s6
Hi there - same problem, on my 128gb s6. started this morning. Yesterday everything fine, would charge when connected via USB to both laptop and to regular samsung usb power unit. Have now tried 3 different USB cables including the samsung cable, 3 different usb power units and of course tried all 3 cables in laptop usb port. Have checked phone's usb port - clean as a whistle. Have rebooted both connected and unconnected. Started getting 'dock connected' message, now it just wont charge, although starts up fine. I take very good care of the phone, so no water damage or untoward shock damage (never get it wet, never drop it). Remaining battery charge seems to fluctuate between 30% and 40+ %, depending upon whether it's plugged in or not. If I turn it off, then connect usb cable, the phone just reboots, still not charging. I then turn it off and see no green battery charging screen, as I used to seen when connected but turned off. Should I just hard reset and take to repair shop? Still under warranty.
I would return the phone for a warranty repair. Software would not usually prevent the phone from charging when powered off.
As a final test, see if the s6 will charge wirelessly, assuming you have access to a qi charging pad and the s6 has a built-in qi receiver like the North American version of the s6.

New problem

As you know, I got the note 3 and I love the phone. In the process of getting her back to un rooted stock and taking the update to 4.4.2, I noticed my battery was charging extremely slow. Or so I thought. I know there are a few different variants of the note 3 out so there are small differences in them. My particular note, the N900V, has the USB 3.0 charging port in it. Well I don't have a USB 3.0 charging cable but was told a regular cable will work also.
But with the regular cable plugged in I get a message on the phone that says "Charging will be faster with the original cable". O.k, I can see that. But here's the problem. The phone isn't charging at all and when the power is off the phone vibrates in pulses and I get strange screen flickers but no charging. Is this because you NEED the 3.0 charger for this phone or does it sound like the charging port is going bad? Or possibly the battery going bad?
Either way, they are simple fixes. I have changed the charging ports in the Note 1 and this phone isn't much different so fairly an easy task. Just wanna know what you guys think may be the problem here. So you guys know, it does charge on the computer, slowly, but it does charge. It however does NOT charge with the wall charger as explained above. The wall chargers I have are made for LG phones and are higher powered charges because LG's are power hogs so I figured they would also work great for the note 3.

Not all cables are created equal. My wife's s4 cable went out and I had one extra laying around and when she charged her phone she got the same message. I got lucky and found a cable on public transportation and we tried it and the message went away and her s4 charges like normal. I still use my s3 cable for my Note and it works just fine. Try a different cable and see what you get.
I tried a different cable but got the same result. So I looked around my house for another charger, I got a few, and what do ya know, a different charger worked and the phone is charging just fine now with the power on or off. I guess that charger was either faulty or the note just didn't like that one.....lol. But it's good to know before I went and spent money on a charging ribbon I didn't need. Thanks Gamer.

Good, that's what's up...:victory:
Another issue I have come across is my sms and mms. I know allot of people are saying they have had or are having issue with them. My issue is sms is working and mms is working but when I receive a pic it comes in a second, separate text that reads "voicemail, (their name)". My ST voicemail number no longer works either. My notification for VM comes in Verizons number, with is *86 I believe, but that doesn't work either. I have to dial my number to get my VM.
I know these issues are most likely due to it being a Verizon phone trying to use ST AT&T sim and service. It's a PITA but hopefully you guys will know of ways to get these issues worked out.

Charging slowly message

So I have a strange problem. A few days ago I discovered the phone was charging so slowly and on the lock screen a text appeared: "Charging slowly". It's equivalent to USB charging with a PC or notebook. However I use wall charger the same as before, from October 2017. Ok, I thought the charger has some failures, tried an other one. Same.. "Charging slowly" (I used this second charger before and it worked well..) Then I changed the cable. Same message (I also used this cable so 100% it's not defective).
I tried 3 roms. Refleashed the stock, RR and AEx. Tried different kernels: void, mint, franco. Nothing has changed.
May it be a hardware-related issue?
Thank you
Hi did you managed to find a fix?
I am having the same issue - lock screen a text appeared: "Charging slowly". Switched few cables still having same problem. I am convinced is not cable or charger issue.
Your wall charger is most likely the problem, even official can fail, you need a powerful aftermarket to test, it could be the cable but most likely the charger no providing enough power.
No A1 but android, see here: https://android.stackexchange.com/q...d-phone-charging-slowly-how-to-make-it-faster
I use either samsungs ep-ta20ewe or lg's mcs- h04er charging between 1600-2000 mA in accubattery pro.
I've switched few cables and 2A chargers. All getting the same "Charging slowly message"
The reason why most of you are charging so slow is because most likely, your phones are warm
As soon as the battery reaches 38°c, charging begins to slow down and will continue to be slow unless you cool the phone down
The battery temp is ok. 34°C
Solution: USB module replacement
I got back my A1 about two weeks ago. The service replaced the USB module at the bottom of the phone and now it works. I used a Tronsmart QC2 charger before. Since it's been repaired I use the stock charger. I was a bit curious and tried a few days ago with the Tronsmart. Same message: "charging slowly".
I think my Tronsmart charger is deffective and now I avoid using it..
Sum up, the repair shop diagnosed the problem. The phone became deffective but they are not sure why. The USB module replace turned it good again but with the Tronsmart charger it still doesn't work. I have to use the stock charger.
(also works with other chargers from my old Samsung phones). Interesting.
(they changed the USB module under warranty, but otherwise it costs in Hungary 10 000 HUF (~31 EUR, ~36 USD).
(refer to my thread opening post, before the USB replacement, the charging with the stock one was as slow as with other chargers, ~200mah, after replacement it's ~1800mah again)
I replaced the A1 USB C module and this fixed the problem

The same solution as in my case. Nice to hear it fixed this annoying issue.
I was running into the same problem, but after 2 months of replacement I got the message of charging slowly again. Been trying to change the adapter and cable but still not working, til I got the idea to use my mac's charger and it works. I don't know why, anyone's having this issue?

Install Ampere from the Play store and check the speed. It should be ~1400mha.
Having the same issue but i found a tricky solution
I am currently running dotOS and earlier I was on Pixel Experience...on the lock screen i used to get this message along with the current and the voltage readings (mA and V) so all I did was I tried to remove and put the cable back in the phone and everytime the values changed a bit....doing this 3-4 times gave me the reading around (1700-2000) mA and 3(.9-4.1)V and the message said charging...and sometimes it said charging rapidly....and if it didn't work out then I flipped the cable( like I was putting the USB in the wrong direction).....WORKS EVERY TIME
