Andronium OS Beta On Moto E 2nd Gen LTE - E 2015 General

I downloaded Andronium OS Beta and installed it to my phone. Requirements say it needs at least 2GB of RAM, but as you may know this phone only has one. I decided to try it anyways, and it actually seemed to work fairly well. I don't have a Chromecast, so I used Screen Stream Mirroring and Mobizen Mirroring to view the screen on my 15.6" Windows 7 Laptop. I can't control it with those apps, so I just used my phone screen.

Good job, I will try in my Moto G 2013

If your computer has the Intel Wireless Display technology that's designed to mirror your PC onto your tv, perhaps it could be reversible.
That said, I think the Nexus 7 is still waiting for that Miracast streaming feature to be enabled. Perhaps when Google allows that (thanks to Chromecast, I haven't heard word on this for a long while), something could talk between the two devices.
Sorry, these are just guesses, but I have no idea if display mirroring has come to the N7 yet. And if it has, how it could be taken advantage of in Windows.

Cast Moto X Screen to Chromecast

Cast Moto X screen to Chromecast!
Change build.prop line ro.product.device to hammerhead then save and reboot.
Easy!
I posted here in Android Development because those with unrooted phones can't do this...plus, it's just a downright cool tweak.

Thanks, very easy ?

As mentioned prior, I was able to hack my build.prop, to convince Chromecast that my phone is a Nexus 5... After a reboot, the CastScreen option populated and just started working.
Initial thoughts... While it is still in beta, I figured with all the hype casting would be pretty polished by now.
Not so much.
The Chromecast struggles to produce video, and seems to heavily compress (or take a long time) to render anything. Photos do fairly well, but streaming video from phone to TV is totally useless.. I also recognized early on that the Chromecast doesn't seem to support 5g wireless, which would likely help a great deal with throughput.
I have seen a few YouTube videos showing better casting results, but using true Nexus gear. To be fair, there's a chance the Moto X isn't officially supported yet because Google may want to push all of this heavy lifting through our GPU.
Oh well, always fun trying new things.

One last thing...I encourage others to post their experiences here

I discovered this build.prop edit on my own yesterday and tested it out. I noticed the heavy compression at first but things smooth out after a few moments. Quality seemed to be fairly good from what I could see. I'm I've got an 802.11ac router really close to my tv that my phone was connected to on 5ghz (though my chromecast was connected on 2.4ghz n). So maybe that had something to do with it. Playing sonic dash showed smooth clean graphics, but the latency was just a tad too slow to rely on the TV as a screen and the phone as a controller.
Watching MLB.TV quality definitely suffered a little and wasn't quite as smooth. Perhaps that was because I was streaming so there was data going back and forth to the router.
Also, note there is another post on XDA with an app someone threw together to enable mirroring on any device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193
I would guess this performance will be on par with casting a tab from Chrome on your PC. I know that experience sucks.

I do this wired from a desktop and it works extremely well - video, audio, whatever. I haven't tried the phone yet... but I'd check your network.

Wired I don't have as much of a problem but wireless I do. Then again there are many factors but all network related. Chromecast in relation to the router, wireless devices currently using the bandwidth on the router etc...
Since most people are not hardwired to their network I think its a valid post to talk about wireless tab casting especially since you will be casting with your phone wirelessly.
I'll try this on my moto x today. I'm casting to Chromecast from my nexus 7 and it works good. Not a lot of latency , buffering or anything. Quick and all, so I'll compare it with this hack on the moto x..

This works on my Moto X pretty well. Latency is higher than my girlfriends S4, but it still works.

This version is great for people who rooted with pie root on version 4.4.2 since you can't modify your build.prop.
when I tried to use with my XT1058 with CM11, google play caught ... does anyone know how to solve?
I enabled the first and third option
cast screen workin in moto x2013 trick
first open hot spot from any other android mobile . after that connect moto x wifi with that hotspot mobile after that you will easily uese miracast in moto x 2013... screen mirroring
.
You don't need to do this anymore. The Chromecast app now supports mirroring from any device via a button in the app.

new vs old

About to pull the plunge for the shield
Should i buy the 2017 version or the older 2015 version
2015 version is £20 less.
Mainly used for kodi and retro gaming
16Gb, or the 500Gb Pro?
The new 16Gb is not, so much new as its nVIDIAs take on S0NYs Slim & Light philosophy. The newer '17 Model is indeed smaller then the original, it also lacks the IR Port, MicroUSB, and MicroSD Slot. Again like S0NY it only removes everything.... Unlike the Pro it has the newer Button Cell Remote with an IR Blaster (For CEC TVs), and the newer Gamepad.
The new '17 Pro is 100% Identical to the '15, sans the new Controller. Unlike the '15, the '17 Box also comes with the Gen 1 (Rechargeable, Audio-Out) Remote. But, other than that one Gamepad its the same Device.
The biggest difference between the old 16Gb, and the new One is the MicroSD Slot. though I gather you should be using USB Storage considering that its faster than MicroSD. But, this could be a limiting factor considering 16Gb is not that great a space to install Kodi a few Emus, and other downloaded Content.
But, for Vanilla Kodi usage it wouldn't matter which One you eventually decide to get, as the underling Software.. (e.g. Firmware i.e. Nougat), would be exactly the same across all the variants of the Shield TV.
If 16GB model go for the 2015 better. Only new BT controller is worth in new models, but if you want to use the controller only with the Shield TV then the old one still does a great job.

And you can always upgrade the Controller at a later date. That kinda makes me wonder now. Can we even use the Blake (e.g. Wifi-Direct), Controller's on the new '17 Model? Or have nVIDIA also removed all traces of Wi-Fi Direct?

How to get Wacom tablet to work with Moto G5 plus

I tried using Wacom tablet with OTG but it did not work out. As per some some threads I found it says Wacom drivers are pre-installed in Nougat and it worked with some Nexus devices. Any idea how to get it working this device ?
PS: I have a rooted device.

Not a great buy at the moment IMO. You can usually get deals for the FireTV 4K Stick for ~$25. The cube is more than 3x the price.
Why would you invest so much in the cheap crappy devices? Might as well jsut get a real Android TV box.

Well I like Amazon devices and when side loaded with the right apps they work very well, I was using the Amazon Fire TV 2nd Gen (the flat square one) which I still think was Amazons best. I saw a Cube going a lot cheaper so bought one and well so far it's working great. The trouble with my old 2nd gen was the low on storage issue even though it was not really low on storage I think Amazon as slipped something on there to make it look as if the storage was low. The Cube I think is not a cheap crappy device at all and I would not go back to an Android box, ever.
Some other cons..
1. Amazon Game Controllers are no longer supported
2. Many sideloaded app icons show blank
I love mine though regardless of it's faults, with custom launcher anyway. Was finally worth the upgrade at prime day prices from my 2nd gen fire tv box.
2. Many sideloaded app icons show blank
Yes have a couple of apps were the icon does not load but they still work OK, but it does spoil the Cube. Also when I used my old TV 2nd gen (flat one) my amp would be turned up to 2 to 3 lights this Cube as to be turned up 5 to 6 lights so there is also a sound issue.

But you are on an Android box. You are rooting your device to make it closer to an Android box. You are basically telling people you prefer the Android software over native Android then what in gods name are you doing on XDA?
OK I see your point the Cube runs on Android and as for rooting to be honest I have no idea how to root

Yes, it completely ruins the UI. I use Wolf Launcher instead. Would of returned it and carried on using 2nd gen box if no custom launcher..
..and not supporting their own controller, forcing me to sell it and use an xbox pad.. really ****ty move on their part.
Other than that though, yeah.. it's without a doubt the best amazon device.
If they put an Android TV version of All4 on the store though, I'd probably buy a shield. I also have games and apps I paid for on Amazon, which stops me getting a shield.
i think the broken icons are to do with the server where amazon gets its apps/icons from. when we install our apps the appstore cross references the apk and its icon/logo/banner with the ones on its server. if the apk isnt recognised on amazons server it presents it as a broken icon. i think there is a way round the broken icon thingy if you google atvlauncher trek icon design there is an icon generation page that lets you create your own in fact here is the link http://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de/

The Sloane is an older model, that means older version of android so probably more availability of icons.
I'm only surmising now but it's possible the icons maybe device specific and that more are available for the Sloane version of firmware?
I did read something about the broken icons being caused by certain apps for certain devices not being available from amazon app store.
