where does inside the phone is the touchscreen connected to the phone?
Hi,
I suggest u should try rebooting the phone by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds, if that dosent work it seems the problem is your screen so you should take it to a tech store or specialist and get it fixed

Not sure if I should post this in windows mobile 7 general..
Power button broke while removing the back cover now the battery gets drained because I cant turn the screen off and the only way to bring it back from sleep is by pressing the camera button
basically Im looking for a way to remap the camera button to function as the power button
set your screen to "time-out" after 30 seconds ..Go to Settings>Lock & Wallpapers>screen time-out.
it wont wont fix your broken button but it will however turn your screen off for you after 30 seconds...Hold the camera button down for like 5 seconds and it will vibrate and open up the camera then hit the windows button to back out to the normal window, temp fix till you get a new door or replacement phone.
I already have these settings thanks for the reply though.
What happened was the phone froze (for the first time) and the tiny button on the phone under the back cover ripped off.
I'm hoping not to have to buy a new phone but AT&T turned me away saying "the warranty doesn't cover any physical damage" which is why I'm hoping to be able to remap the button and make the phone useful again. (sometimes the camera button doesn't respond and I cant turn on the screen with out taking out the battery, also I have to race to check a message since the screen turns off faster than 30 seconds in that case)
you could always get old school on them, use that phone temporarily and tell them its only booting to the white HTC Screen, they will send out a refurb, throw that one into boot loader mode (POWER VOLUME DOWN)don't tell them you did this of course, and call them right back and complain, then when they send the next one, claim the LCD is bleeding and sound a little mad, because thats 2 bad handsets in a row, then on the third one tell them it will not take a charge no matter what, insist that your getting real mad, and ask for a new handset, At&t's policy is three refurb's and then a full kit , after 3 bad refurb's they can offer you a brand new device new in the box, and at some instances even let you request a different device of equal or lesser value with acceptation of the apple with a bite out of it device.
Hello there guys!
Recently my M2 power button stopped working, there is no click whatsoever. I checked it up and it seems that the small metal piece fell somewhere inside the phone. I found this dissasembly video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUXSmlwUC9Q
Now here is my question : it looks like while dissasembling you are ripping the phone apart, is there any permanent damage when trying to dissasemble? I could do it by myself, pasting the metal piece inside but I m a bit concerned about damaging the phone.
Thanks
Strange Milestone 2 power button problem
Hi, I have a strange problem in the power button too, but it's very rare (may be rare just for me)
The thing is that the power button suddenly stops working. If i take off the battery and put it again the phone boots without pressing the power button, and it still not working. Then after some time, it suddenly starts working perfect there is no need to press it stronger then normal.
I can't find out any patterns in this behavior. Another strange thing that happens is that sometimes the button works intermittently and delayed. Example: I do a long press of the power button and nothing happen, then the shutdown dialog shows 2 seconds after. And some times (the most) it doesn't
I'm a little bit confused about it, any ideas?
I've new info: i can't get into bootloader mode (the phone turns on but i get a black screen with no text)
Think I am getting the same power button problem now. How did your repair go?
Same problem here now, dunno if its really related to the power button or something
completely different is going to break down soon.
I will try to replace the whole flex cable with the buttons, but shipping needs some weeks.
Hi,
After a night in a tent my HTC HD2 started to malfunction. When turning on the device I noticed it said ''safe mode'' (Android NAND (sensation rom)). At first I didn't think much of it, because I thought the device had turned of due to a dead battery. However after leaving it for a while to recharge I noticed that after each reboot it would return to safe mode. Then I noticed that the device kept showing that it was in vibration mode --> the volume down button is stuck(not physically though). Also the device kept popping up ''recent activities''... I'm under the impression that this is due to a malfunctioning call button, not a 100% sure though.
After I reflashed it to wm 6.5 the problem still prevails. However I was able to get a more detailed view of the issue:
The windows button lacks every response, the call button does not respond on touch but seems to randomely activate the call function. The home button functions poorly. However the back button, power on button and volume up button function correctly.
The volume down button seems dependent on the other buttons. When pushing one of the buttons below the screen the volume down button is activated and is stuck untill the screen is turned on and off. However the volume up button does not yield such a result. The volume down button still is responsive to touch though, as long as it is not stuck.
Any ideas how to solve this problem, or how to work around it? As a precaution I put the HD2 in a box with a moisture absorber.
Hi. I wish I could give you a better understand that what I can offer but what I think happened is you probably rolled onto your phone while sleeping.
This is not to say your problem could have came from something else but let me explain a little about safe mode.
Safe mode anyone can enter by pressing volume down and holding it while it boots up. It allows the developer a safe mode they can enter similiar to
why your computer has it installed on it. Normally pulling the battery and letting the phone reboot clears this out though. With that being said i think what
has happened is the volume button has stopped working as it should. There are several sites you can go to here on the web to send your phone out
to have it looked at and fixed. All in all it shouldn't be that costly and if your mechanically inclined and (careful) it shouldn't be to hard to do it yourself. I
would make sure you take very good notes/pictures in dismantling your phone because if you put it back together wrong you can make the problem worse.
Ebay, listing found here has the volume button and the tools necessary to open your phone and repair the volume key for around $7 usd.
Please make sure your phone model is supported and you have the know how to do this without making things a bigger issue. I would also
suggest to wait for more info because I could be wrong as well.
Thanks for your time, effort and information.
However I don't think it is a problem caused due to physical damage to the volume button. In addition the phone was in a 'sidepocket' of the tent, making it virtually impossible to roll onto it. Because the call button is malfunctioning as well I can imagine it being motherboard related, addmittedly I am not much of an electrician .
The issue has been partly resolved. Only one problem still exists. When I push the windows button it results in a volume up response. I performed a hard reset but the problem still persists, any ideas what could cause this?
Cheers
The hd2 high level of integration can not fall. Even without the screen broke, other things will break, so the sets of sets of silicone can not throw. Screen indeed not easy to break unless it fell out just in time to have something to knock to the screen.
I have a Samsung S4-GT I9505 with a volume up damaged or stuck key , so it always boots into recovery since the volume up is stuck and in order to get it boot I have to keep pressing on the volume down while it is booting .
I took my phone to many repair shops and no one knew how to fix this issue , I know that while I'm in the rom I can install any audio widget to get the volume up but to me this is not a solution .
please , if any one knows Samsung GT-I9505 volume key ways or any clue on how to fix this issue , kindly I ask you to provide me with your experience .
thanks alot in advance
Take the phone apart so you can see the motherboard, then reassemble the phone. Sometimes the buttons on the case get out of whack and press against the volume control buttons on the motherboard, causing this issue. If that doesn't work, replacing the motherboard may be your only alternative, as the buttons on the board are not user replaceable.

thanks for the reply , but I did took apart the phone many times and no success .
Then it's most likely the button on the board that has gone bad. I am presuming you tested the button on the board while you had the back off?
Hi guys!
What's happening its that I bought the phone online, it's basically like brand new! No damaged on the buttons or a si gles minor scratch.
The problem is that the phone is always pressing the power button, sometimes I get in to a loop of restart sometimes I can use the phone normally and even sometimes I am using the phone and it stats to lock it self or open the camera (that usually happen when you double tap the power button) I already contact Essential but, by the way I bought it I doubt that they will do something, this happens without need of touching the phone. So I am sure that this it's not a defect on the button directly
I was thinking on root the device and by any way, disable the power button, I already try with button remaper or apps like that but, they don't work with the power just with the volume which sometimes it press it self as well.
Thanks in advance
