Morning.
Last week or so I've been trying to get my PS3 Dualshock 3 Sixaxis controller working with my Nexus 7 via the Micro USB port, and I'm about to give up completely.
I've googled enough to make my head spin, so this is pretty much my last hope for a solution. I've tried with 4.1.1, 4.1.2 & 4.2.2.
I've mailed the developers of the apps mentioned below, but have yet to recieve any response. This was done more than just 1-2 days ago.
I've tried with & without rooting.
The controller works fine when connecting it to my computer & Transformer Prime. It's been close to fully charged all the time.
The Gameklip cable & the OTG-cable works. I can access HDD's, flashdrives & even the SD-card on my PSP.
While using the OTG-cable, I've tried with different USB - Mini USB cables.
Sixaxis Controller using Bluetooth works fine, not a single problem there. I can also add my Nexus 7's MAC-address to the controller via the app without any trouble.
USB/BT Joystick Center 8 finds the controller, but refuses to accept any input from it. The same developer has released a joystick analyzer, and it recognizes the correct vendor & product ID of the controller.
The keylayout file exists & is correctly mapped in my usr/keylayout directory. I've also tried using the Transformers keylayout on the Nexus 7.
And here's the kicker, the spare Gamestop Xbox 360 controller I've got laying around works without a problem. Which almost led to me frisbeeing this ****ing thing out the window. And even though it works, it's not a viable alternative for me since it doesn't fit in the Gameklip.
At this point I'm up for crazy ideas, so any help, no matter how far out there, is appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and if you have any ideas that might help, thanks in advance!

Sorry for the thread resurrection here but I have searched high and low on the internet and this is the only thing that I find that comes close to the same exact problem I am having. The only difference is I have a galaxy s3 running cyanogenmod 10.2. Same issue on 10.1. I can get a wired 360 controller to work just fine and even a Wii classic controller with a USB adapter to work. No Dualshock 3 though. You ever able to fix this?
There is a Firmware Update for the C.T.R.L.R Controller
[download section of the mad catz home page] (i'm not yet allowed to post urls)
My C.T.R.L.R was included when I bought my Mad Catz Mojo.
I found that Guide:
url (google for "Product Update Guide: XInput")
And a page about the Update:
url (google for "C.T.R.L.R with XInput Update – Ready to Game on PC")
(one guy in the comments says that the update is not possible for the C.T.R.L.R Controller that was packaged with the mojo - is that possible? - isn't it the same controller that is selled separately?
However, when I tried to install the new Firmware, I got the instruction from the software to push the "next title" + "last title" buttons for 3 seconds to bring the C.T.R.L.R Controller in a "firmware update mode" in order to continue the update procedure. Nothing happened when I pushed the buttons.
I have also installed the Driver and Software from the download page, but I was not able to perform the firmware update.
Was anyone able to install the firmware update?
There are many optimisations and fixes included in the update, therefore, it seems to be worthy.
I opened a ticket about this very problem with Mad Catz. Their responce was that we can't do a firmware update with the C.T.R.L.R. Controller that came with the Mojo. What a rip off!
This is actually crazy... i bought the mojo for £49.99 from amazon a few days ago... power it on.. controller wont connect so cant get past the setup language screen... make it all worse its set to goto sleep after 2mins so have to keep getting up to reinsert the power.... purchase a cheap usb keyboard to set it up... turn on bluetooth.. spend literally a day on google and on here trying to work out how to connect the controller, still wont connect... wont connect to my s4 neither... only my laptop. :/ i too found the firmware update and got stuck on the same place as you guys..... no wonder this has dropped so much in price.... im about to try tech support, spend one more day on it, then il be shipping it back to amazon...

That sucks, not even passing the language screen. But don't give up hope; try these few tricks:
1) Get new AAA batteries (I prefer using recheargeable ones)
2) if that doesn't work, remove the batteries and use your S4 charging cable to power the CTLR. There is tiny USB input behind the batteries.
3) swap the usb dongle bluetooth receiver between the 3.0 and 2.0 input slots on the MOJO
4) If the CTRLR just won't connect, try using either a USB mouse (either cable or wireless). I've been using a wireless mouse for the past couple months since I don't play games that much, it works flawlessly).
**Make sure you're not far from the MOJO when you're attempting these solutions.
If it works, make sure you update the MOJO firmware (205 something). Most issues with the stock CTRLR will stop after that. Also, if you continue using that CTRLR you can use the 2.0 slot and use the 3.0 input for your external HDD for example.
If none of these works, something might be wrong with your CTRLR. You could ask for a return or exhange.
But I will tell you, once this baby works, you will fall in love with it.
But honesty, I didn't really need the CTLR to be updated. For my purposes, it works just fine. Since I mostly watch videos on the MoJo, a simple wireless mouse does all the job for me.

cheers for the reply.. i tried the suggestions and it just keeps flashing blue and red ... ive given up on the CTRLR... now have it setup with a rii wireless keyboard and an old firestick remote that i connected via bluetooth.... i wont be playing games anyway, just wanted it for streaming upstairs....
That means it's just not connecting. Sorry about that. For streaming purposes, you should be fine with your current setup though.
Perhaps Mad Catz can replace your CTRLR, did you inquire?

Thank you for that important information. So I'm not able to update the firmware. I think there should be a note on the homepage about that. Hours of lifetime are lost because that information is not provided on the homepage.:crying:

The CTRL, is the best part of the MOJO :good:
I use it a lot on other BT4 devices, my phone, PC and mojo.
Try connecting on other devices, it could be the dongle that has a problem.
If there is an update, it would be for the retail version, but not sure what it would do.
ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/CTRLR_Range/
looks like it's just PC software
Bit of a shot in the dark here. I've got the retail version of the controller, updated firmware and though I've followed the calibration steps to a T - it's borked.
Triggers don't register at all, right stick is slowly panning up and left and there are random triggers of some of the hard buttons.
Has anyone successfully updated any version of this controller?
Edit:
Reflashed the fimrware and tried again. Working now. Not sure what went wrong, failed flash?

I had the same issue unitl I realized that I have another model number where I had to press the "<<" and ">>" buttons at the same time. After that, firmware update was working.
Ive tried the above and didnt work either has anyone ever got past this operation issue with the update. Ive connected the device with usb cable ok, I have a solid red light on the controller, presses both keys as instructions state and nothing progresses, the usb install was the last thing that actually worked.
Cant believe its so rubbish to get an update working - ridiculous
Cant find any profiles for this controller like MC 4, etc.
Any help on this device or is it dead in the water.

Hi did you guys figure out if there is anyway to update the controller that comes with MOJO model 32263? I cannot get it working with usb on my computer.
Mojo Pack-in C.T.R.LR. Update
Hi All,
Looking for same info on the pack-in controller that came with the Mojo. I put my Mojo away, I bought a shield a few years back and never looked back. I would like to use the controller (C.T.R.LR.) that came with the Mojo but I can not get it to pair with anything outside of the original Mojo. Has anyone been able to get the update to work, I ran into the same issues as other here, pressing the << and >> does nothing and I can not update the firmware. Would like to use the controller with my cellphone but it will not pair. Thoughts?
Thanks!

I just got the nvidia shield 500 gig and it came with the controller but when i have the controller plugged in to USB it works fine but when i unhook it it stops working. Any one else have this issue?

Since It works through a Wi Fi connection you could have a network issue. Perhaps some interference?
apparently this happened to a whole load of people at the same time after an update. I got our shield tv with marshmallow already on it, so I don't have a point of comparison, but the wireless connection between the console and the controller isn't great on ours either.
having your shield tv connected by ethernet rather than wifi causes controller connection problems, as does having the hdmi output set to 50hz. it seems odd that these things would cause controller issues, but they're both verified by nvidia, apparently they know about it and are working on a fix.
you could of course use a wifi diagnostic app like wifi analyser to see if there's some overlap with another wifi connection, but in our house the shield tv controller channel is the only 5G signal within range, and I still get connection issues.
if you're finding that your controller is just refusing to pair with the console after losing the connection, you can hold home+back for a few seconds to quickly reset the controller and try again, or if that doesn't work you can factory reset controller by holding the shield button on it for a fairly long time, somewhere between 30 secs and a minute. you can quickly put the console back in controller pairing mode by holding the power button for a few seconds. you should forget the controller from the controller options before doing this.
if you get sick of doing this far too regularly, do what I did and get a 3 meter high quality woven usb charging cable and just keep your controller connected.
Thanks for the insightful I information

The game controller was working great until yesterday's 5.0.2 update. After my 2015 Shield TV updated and stabilized (and was restarted a few times for good measure,) I realized the controller was no longer working or paired. Now I can't pair it at all.
I fully charged it up just in case. I hold the Nvidia logo on both Shield TV and Controller until they both start blinking, set them within inches of one another, but they never pair. They just keep blinking forever, and I let them sit like this for 30 minutes. I tried countless times with same result - no matter what I do they just don't pair.
I did not yet try to pair the actual Shield TV remote because I use a Logitech Harmony Ultimate with Hub, and it's working fine via IR, so there's no BT interference there. I also have another BT game controller from my old Amazon Fire TV. It's listed as paired under "Other controllers" but I haven't tested it yet.
Has anyone encountered this problem? What workarounds can I try?
I upgraded yesterday and then did a factory reset, paired the controller fine but was a bit trickier than when i first setup with MM.
What i did was just hold the nvidia logo on the controller from my couch(no need to touch the SATV) and KEPT pressing it until the shield recognised and paired it, so do not remove your finger when it starts blinking. Took less than 20 seconds.
You could also "forget" the controller (removing any trace of it; like when you forget a wifi network) if you get bad behavior and then try pairing again as i did.

I'll try a factory reset when I get home today. I can't "forget" the controller because it's not paired yet.
For some reason my controller only pairs when the shield is connected via WiFi. It won't connect when it's using ethernet!? And it was the same on MM too. Any ideas guys?

I also paired it while connected to wifi but now i have plugged in ethernet cable and controller keeps working. Didnt have to repair. The only thing i notice is that the back button (left side of nvidia button) is not working properly. In MM 3.3 i remember worked fine.

Same problem here. Been fine since new, and hasn’t used it for a month or two and charged it and nothing. Can’t re pair it at all it just flashes .
You have to to disable ipv6 in the network settings
Hey all. Bought a shield few months ago and plugged my ps3 cord in and hit the ps3 button and it paired right away. Now my ps3 remote want pair via bluetooth. I do the same method it will work in tell i unplug it and or will ask for a pin code to pair it.. Need help troubleshooting it to get it work via bluetooth again. Thanks
7.2 update broke PS3 controller support, only works over USB. Just unpair it, plug it in, and hit home and it should just work, but only on the cable.
7.2.2 fixes it, but it's possible you haven't received the update yet, as I think it's still a test build. I'm on it and can confirm no issues with PS3 now.
