So my question is, after/before any flashing process, we have to wipe everything usually, so what is the best way to backup my data, in a way that I can retrieve them quickly, Titanium Backup isn't a good option I'm afraid, the free version that I own makes this process really painful.
Since Custom Recovery's are Born TWRP is the best way to backup and Restore your data.
Titanium Backup only backsup App and App data! SO TWRP to the rescue .. U need Root tho! but u can temporary Flash twrp to backup Only and then root !

Oh I'm confused, I can backup data through TWRP and restore it in different/higher firmware?
btw, what's quite important to me is the apps and their data, though I won't really mind if the answer to the previous question is yes

Nope u cannot flash the backup as is Takes Full system ! you have option to backup only apps but i have never tried flashing to on higher firmware so Titanium Backup is Good for apps and App data u can use to pro/HAcked apk!

It is possible to back up only the data partition, but restoring it can be a big problem if Sony changes the partition layout between ROM versions.
I use Titanium Backup since my Galaxy S, never failed me. Well worth the couple of dollars.
It's worth mentioning that some of the fw like Concept, Nougat DP4 don't have root or recovery, so the above mentioned methods will not help.

Yeah, cool post! on the same tone:

If you're comment was related to the availability of recovery for the 2 mentioned FW, this is only valid for unlocked bootloader. Most of the users are on LB

YES. You can try it without DATA Wipe first. If you have issues with someapp´s or current settings you can make a Data Wipe later. Just make a complete TWRP Backup before restoring this SYSTEM Image
soo no 4.4.2 ota update of your phone bootloader locked?

I'd like to ask few questions:
I have an unlocked bootloader, roooted & debloated razr i NewAOSP ROM 4.1.2 also with custom recovery TWR 2.8.0.0 installed...
Q1: Is it possible to just flash this KIA20.74.rar ROM from this thread via TWR and have KITKAT installed?
Q2: Is it rooted or how to root aftewards?
Q3: Is there any custom KITKAT ROMS available?
Q4: Is it worth to upgrade at all?
Thanks for your reply.

1. No, it is not possible to flash it. U need to restore it. This is not a flashable zip, it is a TWRP BACKUP that can be restored through the recovery.
2. I dunno if it is rooted, but if it is not. Just install a root zip afterwards through recovery
3. Yep, mine CM11
4. I would say yes. From 4.1.2 to 4.4.x was a great update. A couple of more apps that work and an overal boost of performance. Not that mutch, but noticable.

You save it in a safe place. If you ever have a corrupted efs partition you can use adb to flash the backup you made.

I still think there'll be no problem. A full system restore will overwrite existing files on a partition. I don't think that lollipop changed the partition size or anything like that, so yes, no problem

I think you can restore hole system
and there will be no problem because when you
restore any things in android that auto
format & replace every things so I think
your device will be fine. You just try if not
restore then flash fresh kitkat rom and restore
backup again kitkat to kitkat
Thanks for all of u for suggesting, i have restored kitkat whole backup on lolipop, the thing is phone doesnt boot & it stays on samsung e7 screen forever & ever, the best part is it does takes you to recovery & the worst part is my lolipop nandroid backup is corrupted, which resulted in flashing a whole new stock rom!!!!!

Hello Everybody!
I just wanna Let you Guys now, As i Updated to OxgenOS 3.1.0 (Marshmellow) Community Build

Because of those Message some People allready read! on TWRP This package is for "OnePlus" devices; this is a "ONE".
Means that this Package is Optimized for the: OnePlus ONE! AS YOU ALLREADY READ!as i try to install Recovery and Rooting with ADB IT NOT REPLACES STOCK RECOVERY WITH TWRP! EVEN WHEN YOU TRY TO BOOT TO THIS RECOVERY IT GIVES YOU MESSAGE: FAILED (remote: dtb not found) , SO IT MEANS INSTALLING CUSTOM ROMS AND ROOTING OXYGENOS 3.1.0 IS NOT WORKING IN THE MOMENT FOR THE ONEPLUS X , SOUNDS LIKE WE NEED A NEW HASH FOR TWRP INORDER TO INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERYS IN FUTURE.

Hello Everyone, i Updated my OnePlus X to Android 6.0.1 OxygenOS 3.1.0 Community Build today and now i rant in a Huge issue.
As alot of People Remember you Can"t Flash OxygenOS 3.1.0 on the OnePlusX Running a Custom Recovery
Getting this Error message:
This package is for "OnePlus" devices; this is a "ONE".
Ok.. i did flashed the Original Recovery after it did this.. :victory:
I think this Build messed UP my Hole entire Recovery Partition.
BECAUSE OF: this is a "ONE" ? Means this Build is made for THE ONE PLUS ONE?!
Now i tryed Reflash the Recovery Image but.. ITS NOT BOOTING!
ALSO IF I TRY TO BOOT A RECOVERY IMAGE IT SAYS. FAILED (remote: dtb not found)
This was my Steps i did.
1. TWRP Removed all data and cache.
2. Installed Original OnePlusX Recovery on the Device useing ADB.
3. Installed OxygenOS 3.1.0
4. Recovery worked first times.
5. After a While it stopped working.

It appeared like that. Reboot to system. Enable developer settings and enable advanced reboot menu. Reboot to recovery. You should be able to do that. Twrp does not work at this moment so settle for open recovery.
it was not Booting after a While to Recovery or System what i did was use this Method:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-x.417648/
Unfortunatly, My OnePlus X Looked Like Mega Bricked.

How is it annoying?
You guys are just too stupid to read what others are telling since noon.
It's a beta, and they recommend the use with everything on stock.
Trial and error also has consequences that you are not willing to face, so it seems that you're completely wrong or not being able to wait some hours.

Hi...
Flash twrp recovery, if u haven't, and take a nandroid backup.
When update to new version u can restore the backup from twrp.
But if u are already on oxygen OS and u update to the new version, apps and data will remain.

You need to unlock your bootloader if you want to root and get the benefits.
If you want to upgrade from oos to oos, then download the latest oos rom from the website and go to settings > system update, tap the three dots on top right and select local upgrade( should be there, not sure about 3.0.1) then navigate to your downloaded rom and it will install, without needing to unlock bootloader and losing data.
