Hello guys, may I know what is the best way to optimize the storage on a s7 edge? I just received my 256gb Evo Select Micro SD card from amazon and was wondering what is the best way to fully utilize it? I read a few articles online that suggested formatting the card as adoptable storage but would love to listen to you guys' input on this.
My phone is rooted btw.

My final decision point of the S4 over the HTC was the availability of a micro SD card which now I realize is basically unusable.
My thoughts were to move programs and media files to the micro SD to free considerable room in the internal memory.
Of course it is somewhere between hard and can't do that.
It my understanding the new upgrade makes it even tougher.
Are there custom ROMS or other solutions that solve this problem?

I'm going to try one of the AOSP Marshmallow roms and I'm quite eager to try out the Adoptable Storage as I'm sick to death of running out of storage space. The old moving apps to SD is limited.
I was wondering what is the fastest Micro SD read/write speeds supported by the S5? I don't want to waste money on the fastest available card if my phone can't make use of the extra speed.
For those who have already tried Adoptable Storage, what are your impressions?
Looking for an SD card for my phone. XT1563, 6.0.1, 16gb
Really all I want to store on it is Spotify offline music and photos. This Article seems to recommend the Samsung cards over SanDisk, while this thread, seems to favour the SanDisk.
Also, with regards to formatting the card - it seems like internal is still pretty buggy. Given that I currently have ~8gb used including my photos and music, would I be better off with external storage?
Hi all,
On the latest July 2017 OTA, does adoptable storage still work? I recently got an SD card and heck it's annoying to keep using it as portable storage. Every time an app updates, it moves back to internal storage, and I don't want that.
From searching the interwebs, I realised that the videos and tutorials shown don't worry anymore. Samsung seems to have patched it.
Is there any other way apart from the ADB method mentioned on the various YouTube videos? Anyone with still a working solution?
I agree, the tutorials are from before the new update.
I so want adoptable storage back. Yes I have read about the drawbacks but for me before I (unfortunately) upgraded my memory card adoptable storage worked fine. No memory limitations, no worry about not enough space for Netflix downloads, YouTube downloads or loading as many Apps as I wanted, it was so easy. the only reason I upgraded to 128GB memory card was for an upcoming trip to Thailand.
I am really hoping some clever person at xda finds a way round this block.
Hey guys,
I know this topic has been discussed to death here. But the only methods I found were either complicated or odd. I was wondering how I could expand internal storage which is currently 500gb on my Pro to like 4tb. Replacing internal HDD requires tons of Dev work which I know nothing about and connecting a USB external storage to use as internal is kinda weird as there is risk of it getting unplugged and device crashing... Are those the only ways to do it or is there an updated way that I didn't see ?
Well you could add an sd card to it. The pro version has a reader.
The only other way is aside from the ones you mention is setting up a NAS but that would be an external connection....
SD Card is much slower. Plus I need 4tb and am sure that a card of that size doesn't exist yet. As for why, well I got 2.5tb of game ROMs for various emulators that I want to move over... So yeah... Adding external is my only option for now... I guess...
