Looking for an SD card for my phone. XT1563, 6.0.1, 16gb
Really all I want to store on it is Spotify offline music and photos. This Article seems to recommend the Samsung cards over SanDisk, while this thread, seems to favour the SanDisk.
Also, with regards to formatting the card - it seems like internal is still pretty buggy. Given that I currently have ~8gb used including my photos and music, would I be better off with external storage?

I thought to myself, what would I do if I had a 4gb storage card? 8? 16? 32?
I have a 2gb micro sd card, and all that's on it is ringtones, a few family guy episodes, and some music.
So! What do you use your sd card for? Have you filled it? Post your interests and how much space you have left!

Space left on SD card after cleanup: 1.8 GB.
Atm I have a 1gb micro sd card with 584 mb left I don't have much music about 4 or 5 songs because I carry a zune so my phone isn't really used for music same goes for videos unless im streaming them. What my card is mainly used for is to store all my applications for my phone pictures mainly anything for my phone goes on it. I'm looking to upgrade soon because im becoming really fascinated with installed thousands of apps so i'll probably splurg and get an 4gb sdhc.
My 2gb micro sd card lets me store over a 1000 photos, but my 8gb is only letting me store 500.
When I check the available memory on the card it says 6.5 gb, any ideas on what may be causing the limited photo storage.
Have you formatted the card via the option on the HD2? Start>Tools>Format SD Card
You didn't get the card off ebay did you?
Had the same problem. Thought it was a bad card. Then thought it's the software limitation. Eventually did a soft reset and sorted it out. So no need to worry about it mate.
Hi - I'm in the market for the Droid 2 (Global) and have a question after reading a great deal about it. It comes with an 8GB SD memory card. In the section of the manual that talks about putting the phone together (battery, etc), it mentions a slot for an SD memory card. Since there isn't an 8GB card in that slot, it makes me believe I can put another card in there. Is that true? I'd like to use this phone for movies and music while on planes but 8GB isn't really enough except for music.
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know (I have the Droid 2 [not global]) and there is only one SD card slot. The 8GB sdcard that comes with it uses that one up. That sdcard slot will allow for up to a 32GB sdcard for storage, though. So if you were to purchase a 32GB or 16GB micro SD card you could get the storage you want.
I'm just trying to get a feel for how Samsung treats storage on their devices.
Do they consider the internal storage as both internal and SD Card storage on the device? So that \sdcard\ points to internal storage? Which would treat any inserted MicroSD like secondary storage that some programs might not use?
Or do they consider internal storage as only internal and \sdcard\ would only point to an inserted MicroSD?

They have internal SD (built in storage) and external SD.
External SD is not touched unless you indicate for it to be used specifically.
I like that Samsung continues to offer devices with a removable battery and MicroSD. This is a major factor for me.
I just wish the MicroSD could somehow be integrated with their internal storage. Since many apps may not be able to see the MicroSD. The apps would consider the internal storage to be SD space.

I'm using Data2SD with my Asus Transformer Infinity right now to have a 64GB data space (via SD card) and the internal 32GB as extra storage. I have not had to remove the card yet . And really even Data2Sd won't let me use the internal space on the device installing programs, just extra storage. But still its a good step.
Removing the card is not a concern, since I basically don't. If the card goes bad, rebuild things with a new card.
It would be great if the SGS4 gets a MOD like Data2SD. Then anyone who buys a 16GB version could get a 64GB MicroSD and turn it into a 64GB SGS4 . Same way we've turned our 32GB Asus Infinities into 64GB models, and our storage is even faster than the stock Asus internal storage  .
Oh, it's a good idea, it's soooo good .
I have a couple questions too if someone can please help:
1) What happens when you mount the device via USB. Can you mount either storage (internal or external sd)?
2) Can you easily place game files like GTA Vice City, music files, or Titanium/nandroid backups on the external?
Thanks!

1) they show up as separate drives
2) yes to. Everything except game files as the game would think you don't have the files and try to redownload them
The model I have is for a Toyota Rav4. It describes itself as AC83XX (core x4), and is running Android 4.4.4.
It has a lot of quirks, but generally works. However, the 64gb micro SD card keeps losing its "indexing", and my MP3s are not recognized by any media players.
The files are always visible by the ES File Explorer.
I installed an "SD Scanner" utility (this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.jerickson314.sdscanner&hl=en), which makes the MP3s visible to Google Play, etc, but every morning/afternoon before/after work, it must be re-scanned, which takes nearly an hour.
Any ideas to solve this issue?
i have same problem.
>64gb micro SD card
Make sure you formatted it as FAT32 and absolutely not ExFat. ExFat is NOT compatible with these android head units. SD Cards larger than 32GB come formatted ExFat out of the box and must be reformatted, and Windows CANNOT format a 64gb card as Fat32, it only allows you to do ExFat using the built in tools. There are some utilities to format 64GB cards as Fat32 but nothing built into Windows. You will have to find something on the net.
Also, there are a TON of fake/counterfeit SD cards out there. This is usually a sign that you have one that is reporting it is bigger than it really is. Apparently they figured out how to make SD cards look like 32GB/64GB cards but they are only like 4GB or 8GB cards, and if you write more than 4gb/8gb to them they get corrupted etc.. Amazon was hit with a ton of fakes recently even name brand cards like Samsung, that look identical to the real thing.

No, it's not fake, it's almost full. And if Windows can't format it Fat32, then it isn't, so might consider that.
That being said, VLC for Android does it's own indexing, and it hasn't lost it...yet. It also indexes way faster than SD Scanner does.
Crossing my fingers this will continue to work; only drawback is it doesn't pick up where it left off after shutting the car off, but I'm not sure ANY play is going to do that.
