Hey guys, my warranty is nearly finished, so i want to start flashing.
I come from a Nexus device so things are a little bit complicated here.
So what i must do in order to flash a custom rom? Unlock the bootloader ? My device is already rooted.
I'm on Marshmallow BTU 6.0.1.

U simply need to select suitable custom rom for your device as per your mobile specifications like mine is Samsung Galaxy S5 g900f. U need to check your mobile for its full name (most imp is g900f part). When u r confirm on which device u have, now u can select the custom rom for that specific device type only. After u download a rom, u need gapps as well whose link is normally provided by the developers alongwith their roms. After u get both, keep them on ur external sd card.
As u said ur mobile is already rooted, hence u must be having custom recovery as well instead of stock recovery. U need to restart your phone in recovery where u can install your custom rom.
Hope that answer your question.

If u flash any other firmware yes u will increase the counter which is hidden and no option to make it 0 so that way u loose the warranty however as far as I know if u flash back the Indian firmware and give it to service incase of any repair etc they myte not notice 50-50 chances
This i m telling bcoz after flashing any stock firmware the phone status etc shows official
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
I am not flashing any other firmware only flash the official firmware from odin.
If I flash Indian stock firmware from.samfirmware with odin it will raise any counter or not??
On my Road to Rooting & Roms etc
Right my only experience with Android is with my Nexus 7 & S4 LTE GT-I9505 baseband 19505XXUAMDM both with Nova Launcher/developer options used for a faster/smoother experience so just to get some understanding on the structure/model of Android please could someone who's well versed in Android answer my questions with LINKS where possible:
First my goal is to debloat my S4 to make it faster and free up space, then i'd like to overclock my S4 safely as im getting a Zerolemon battery when they arrive shortly so juice wont be a problem, i need some sort of recovery so that if i mess it up i can revert it back to stock and IT DOES NOT void the warranty incase my phone develops a fault in the future, now i wish to allow my external 64gb Samsung SDXC card to be used for apps/games etc
so the questions are:
i have read that Foldermount has to be done manually for each app is that the best method?
and is there another method or ROM that its built in so it can do this automatically so installed apps go straight to the external card?
i have read that you can get ROMS with built in recovery and are ROOTED is this the best way to go or to do ROOT<ROM<RECOVERY each one separately?
What is Binary Counter ? i believe its something to do with Samsung knowing youve been tinkering and voiding warranty
What is Custom kennel ? no idea
Best way to currently root my S4 ?
and make backup/recovery so Samsung wont know for warranty purposes ?
Best way to overclock my S4 and make it faster and slicker ?
Best way to debloat my S4 ?
thx in advance

Folder mount is the good option for now may be in the coming days u ll have easy option as samsung is allowing app to sd card in cmng update will get to know in cmng days
Before installing rom u ll need to ROOT > have RECOVERY > once u have that u are all set to play with all different available Roms for ur model and ta there will be some ROMS pre rooted / with recovery
Q,What is Binary Counter ? i believe its something to do with Samsung knowing youve been tinkering and voiding warranty
A, Yes every time u flash firmware the counter increases ( Ur device will have Triangle away updated version which will make it 0 ) so ur warranty will be saved
There are couple of Roms which has already removed bloatware u can try those
havent searched for any overclock kernal / method i personally suggest stay away till all becomes more stable
However there will be some kernal which myte have or has overcloaking possible
Ever in future if u wanna make the device Stock u need to flash official firmware using odin / user triangle away to reset the counter etc
BAcking up ur current rom is possible after root and recovery thru recovery backup & Restore u can make a backup of ur current Firmware data etc
Note do all or any above steps at ur own risk

Is this official Samsung update going to allow you to move the apps PLUS the data or just the apps as its the data part that takes up all of the storage ?

scrub that im moving my questions to the newbie thread, thx
OK so I went around the web and to see if there were rom(s) available for Samsung galaxy core prime. I couldn't find anything! :crying: I bought this phone so i could escape the whole 'no rom(s) for my device' problem. I mean its a samsung phone. How can a samusung phone not have custom roms. I couldn't even find its stock. The only thing i could find close was a lollipop update but that wasn't even there for my model. So i request many(or all!) rom makers to please start making roms for this model or its other versions. I mean i bought a samsung to escape the whole stock shindig and now this. If you find or make(or decide to make) a rom for this phone please tell us. If possible please reach out to top developers as well such as Cyanogen or omni or others! PLEASE make this happen
ROOT?
I think a root for this device must come first, right? I have tried EVERY app and pc software available and failure:crying:is my only outcome. Please someone help!!!!I am new to being a member but the forums have helped me learn anything I needed to know, as I mentioned THANK YOU !!!:good: So please some help here

Root for Core Prime
Hello all,
Were you guys able to find root access to the Galaxy Core Prime? If not, find the kingoroot apk and download and run. You dont need a pc to do so. If youre looking for a custom recovery i suggest TWRP. They have a build for the phone. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am currently running lollipop on a friends phone with it as I told her she needed root and of course she ended up soft bricking it....which is no big deal which is why i have this phone temporarily.. Im searching for an AOSP rom now. if i find one other than my lollipop upgrade ill report back.

try this: install twrp, reboot in twrp, reboot system. it will ask you if you want to root your phone. slide to root and will install superuser installer. reboot phone, go to menu and open superuser installer. it will prompt you to install superuser. choose twrp button( down and right side button) and twrp will install superuser. twrp is installed via odin. choose twrp-2.8.7.1.img.tar from the folder recovery in the PDA section of odin and flash-it. sorry but i can't post link
thanx but i already installed twrp from source and it worked....
Please please

Can someone port 5.1.1 rom from G361H to G360H (which on 4.4.4)? Both have same specs. Only difference is one is 3G & other is 4G. Please..
try kingo root !
download and install on ur pc!
1 click root!
should have internet cconnection while rooting!
I could probably build a version of slim pickins for this device ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...rom-slimpickins-stock-rooted-bloated-t3250883 ), I don't have the device myself but the process would be similar. If anybody would be interested in this and or testing it for me shoot me a PM.

Need to know what firmware/region you all need the rom for I'm assuming INS/APA3 but I need to know for sure before I can start building.

Root Core Prime - from Scratch, Safely KingoRoot:
As usual, declaration: :silly: You may lose your Warranty or brick your phone.
1. Install KingoRoot for your PC. (kingoapp.com/)
2. Install Samsung Usb drivers or KIES and Smart-switch from Samsung to your PC. (drive.google.com/file/d/0BxlC2mqv2yMneE5FemFzd3dmRkU/view?usp=sharing)
3. Go to Settings > About Device on your phone, and tap continuosly on Build Number until Developer Options option becomes available.
4. Open Developer options > Check USB Debugging option and uncheck Verify apps via USB option.
5. Open KingoRoot on your PC and connect your phone. When a pop-up appears check Always allow box and select Grant.
6. If Kingo cannot apply ROOT by Safe method, it will prompt you. If you don't want to mess with warranty, please discontinue. Otherwise, continue to ROOT.
7. If rooting was successful, there will be a SuperUser app installed. Verify ROOT by Rootchecker from Playstore.
8. You can uninstall the Kingo App (not the SuperUser app).
P.S.
1. If you are running Jellybean , you may be able to get ROOT access without tripping the KNOX counter (Warranty Intact).
2. Do not flash any SU binary update other than from inside of kingo SuperUser app, as it will DEFINITELY void your warranty.
3. You can also try the KingoRoot phone app without a PC.

have you been able to do anything with it? I have the same phone but is stuck on the cricket screen, i made the mistake of editing the build.prop and cant seem to be able to sideload or use odin to replace it... samsung wants me to ship it to them.....not sure what to do yet.
Flash firmware?
Does it go into Download Mode? If so flash stock firmware, link available in thread by Shiny Side or Bogarrty. Worked great for me. You will have to re-root, re-TWRP, ECT. There are step by step instructions too.
Thanks agai to Shinyside and bogarrty for their excellent work.

twrp-3.0.0-0-core33g
There's an IMG and a TAR.
I can't remember where I downloaded it but if you search Google I'm sure you'll find it. After that install SU. Easy as pie. I've done it on mine and there is no problem.

Hey guys,
I'm going to install a custom ROM today to see if that maybe fixes my SensorHub not working. I just need guidance on the correct procedure. I have a SM-N900 model (N900XXUEBOL2) running Lollipop 5.0. Do I first need to root, or can I install a custom ROM straight from the stock recovery? It seems like there aren't may ROMS available for the SM-900 model, but I've found one that seems to have good battery life and performance: TR-ROM. This is the procedure I will follow:
1) Root phone with CF-Auto-Root-ha3g-ha3gxx-smn900.zip
2) Use ODIN to flash n900-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-kk_L5.0(0812).tar
3) Flash TR-ROM from CWM: TR-ROM XDA
Is this all correct? I just want to make sure that I don't brick my phone!
Also, how can I revert back to stock if I need to?
Thanks so much!!!

OK. ..so are the 3 steps I mentioned above correct?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/guide-root-note-3-sm-n900-5-0-install-t3069670
I'm trying to follow that guide, but the build number of N900 on the CF-Root site says:
LRX21V.N900XXUEBOA6
Whereas mine is:
N900XXUEBOL2
Will is still work? Also, it says a locked bootloader will probably brick your device. How do I check if mine is locked?

I wouldn't be asking here if I hadn't already Google'd extensively.
But of course... The phone is brand new, so there's no info yet available. I understand...
Yes, do as you wrote in the first post. Should be ok, as those are the latest files.

I'm finding that there is actually TOO much information (too many variables). That's why I'm asking specifically about my version, as I can't seem to get my head around it - and rather than brick my phone, I'm merely seeking a bit of guidance from someone more experienced than me. In the past, when I was rooting previous phones, I received a lot of useful information and help from XDA - but it seems like now all I'm getting are sarcastic remarks and general unfriendliness. Why is that?
You have N900 its an exynos model not the qualcom .Not something that has a big following on here .
The links in your post point to zips , whats the point of me downloading a zip ??
CF autoroot you need to read the instructions regarding builds .
Locked boot loader no idea for that model .
CWM yes flash via Odin if its the correct one for your model .
Flash rom yes the rom will give you the method .
Hey guys ..
I need a real help here.. since I'd neither rooted a phone nor installed a custom ROM before.. Its also my first thread here in xda
and I'm now about to do so with a used "Note 3 N9005" which I've bought recently.. now I want to install the "Phronseis latest Note 5 Marshmallow ROM port"
knowing that this device condition now is "Official and not rooted" with the latest official Lollipop 5.0 from Samsung via OTA update.. and the Knox is tripped showing "0x1 (4)" in the bootloader..
My problem now is that when I've read the step by step guide of the installation process I found myself lost because of some terms that I have no idea about which made me afraid of messing the things up or bricking the phone :crying:.. for example they talked about the "kernel" and I don't know if I could just ignore this part and go through the steps resulting in installing that ROM with the stock kernel??
and all that brings other questions to my mind :
1-what exactly should I do to get this phone from this official state to the desired one?
2-what about the battery life and screen on time? will it be affected by that ROM or the kernel that going to be used with it??
3-will I be able to go back to official state anytime later by flashing the official Kitkat ROM with Odin for example?
4-will this thing change my IMEI or CSC and if it does will it be irreversible?
Any help is appreciated but please there is no room to give "opinions".. because in my condition I need "facts" :good:..
Thank you in advance
A rom has instructions start by reading them .
You can revert to stock by flashing via Odin.
Facts there are a number of faqs and stickies.
Opinion unless you understand the basics flash nothing.

Rule 1 backup EFS
Rule 2 read the instructions .
Rule 3 Understand the instructions .
Regarding the rom you want to flash all the details re kernel etc are in the OP page 1.

Google search for:
"Return to stock J3109"
Or
"Stock firmware for J3109"
You'll probably find it at Sammobile .com or samsung-updates .com.
Then do a Google search for
"How to flash stock firmware in Odin"
Make sure you get the newest version of stock or at least the version equal to yours but not any that are older than what you already had.
If your device does not boot but does vibrate when you press power then you can get a debrick.img from someone with your exact model number that has a rooted device using terminal emulator to retrieve the debrick.img from their while it is on stock firmware. Then you can find instructions for unbricking Samsung devices using an SD card to boot from.
