I have had this issue for quite a while now and it is getting really annoying. When using the external speaker (watching Youtube, Twitch, games, etc) it will fade out and back in frequently. Lately it seems more often than not it will be silent. This only happens with external speaker and does not happen with headphones or bluetooth. I don't think it is a hardware issue because the audio seems to fade out and back in rather than cutting out. Also I can usually press the Overview button and switch between apps a few times and it comes back. Also I have never experienced it while using speakerphone on a call.
Has anyone run into this before? Any ideas on what it could be? I don't think Logcat will work without root or I would dig into the logs.

Omg I've got exactly the same issue, finally someone talk about it !
Since nobody has any ideas, what apps do you have installed @Kev Lav? Maybe we can narrow it down to a common app or something. I really don't think it is an app though because as I mentioned it only happens when audio is on the external speakers. Sometimes days go by and the issue doesn't happen, sometimes it happens constantly for a day or 2. Pretty annoying.
Yeah I don't think that it comes from an app, but yeah it's so annoying, maybe I'll reset my phone but I'm too lazy to back up all my files actually haha.
yooooooooo ive had the same problem any fixes?
Hey guys ! I think that I found a fix, last night, I was partying in a hot tub and I was with my phone, I took several videos underwater and now my external speaker works great again ! You should try to put your phone underwater for 2 minutes !

Uhhh, I think I will pass on that. Thanks though. I have it go for weeks sometimes without the issue happening. Then it will go through phases where it happens a few times a day. Sometimes a reboot will get it back to a state where it happens infrequently. So that is my go to for now. Still extremely annoying. I wish Catlog or something like that would work on this phone so that I could look at the internal logs to see what is going on when it happens. Does anyone know if there is anyway to look at system logs?

Hello
I am really beginning to hate this lousy phone, I have now lost all sound. I picked up the phone to remove some software and noticed I was getting no system sound. So, I opened media player no sound from the music, plugged in headphones and the music was playing. I made a phone call, could speak to and hear the person on the line, I asked them to call me back and nothing.
I have searched the board and found some people saying that the phone sometimes gets stuck in headphone mode, but I was not using the headphones. Anyway I have spent the past 5 minutes inserting, twiddling and removing headphones, but I can not get the sound back, guess it must be hardware failure.
Any ideas or similar problems out there?

I've had this a couple of times and found that a soft reset will sort it out.
I have similar problem--it seems to be the connection to the speaker/ringer. I can get some sound by tapping the top of the case. The small speaker for the earpiece is not affected. Tried resetting anyway to no avail. Will probably send back for repair soon. I am keeping it on vibrate now.

Paul, how long did you have your phone from Orange when it first happened?
I have had mine around 1 month now, I have 'Soft Reset' and 'Hard Reset' but the problem is still there. Did you get yours directly from Orange or a dealer, have you spoken to either?
I am going to call the dealer tommorrow and try to get them to send a swap out, this is an obvious defect if it has died in a month.

Yes resetting does not seem to work, try to get a swap out if you can, I am going to try tommorrow, it has to be a manufacturing fault.

I think you are right, it does appear to be a connection fault. I started media player tapped near the speaker a few times and got a second or two of music then it died again, it gives stuttering sound when tapped.

My Dopod 818 Pro unfortunately also has the same problem. Anyone have any advise on the best way to reach Dopod? I am living in NY and I bought the phone in Wanchai. I tried emailing them, but there has been no response. Thanks in advance.
Hi
Just sent my phone back for a new one, Orange confirmed it was a hardware fault and said I was entitled to a replacement phone. Seems that this is a known issue with the Prophet. They would not say though if it was just part of a bad batch, or generally bad manufacturing. I guess we will see when your phones begin to fail.

Hi,
It happens now and then - not more than around one a month. Not a hardware fault in my case just windows doing its occasional bug thing.

I reckon it's probably a bad batch. I got mine just after they came out and hardware wise it's been fine.
When I'm on the phone with the Cingular 8525, I would randomly hear some kind of soft typing/clicking noise through the speaker.. I tried talking on the phone with my bluetooth headset and I still hear the damn noise!
Anyone else experience this?
possible screen tap sound from your cheek or something in your pocket (when using bluetooth) touching the screen? turn off screen tap sounds and see if it goes away.
I hear the same thing when I'm driving down the Pennsylvania Turnpike... It just may be one of the reasons I return this phone... Never had this issue w/ my other phone.

I used to get various clicks/sounds, which were meant to be there but annoying until I turned off event sounds etc.
Mike
nah, my screen tap sounds are off, and im 100% sure im not touching the screen causing it to press buttons.. also with my bluetooth the phone can be sittin on my desk and i still hear the faint clicking/type writer noises
this is really starting to annoy me.. i'm really wondering if this is a problem with teh 8525's or if its just my phone thats defected

I'm not aware of this being reported by others, except for a couple on this thread. So if event sounds are of and no apps running like push mail then I would think it's a faulty device.
Just for info you described the noise but I'm not clear whether this is an occasional sound or a more or less continuous noise. I'm afraid this device when you get a good one is briliant but there is a high number of flakey ones out there. Warranty return??

You're probably well aware of this but just in case. Turning of screen tap sounds is not the same as turning off event sounds. Event sounds can be heard for all sorts of reasons including taping screen i.e when application starts to open but also as for example a wifi network is detected and any other event like switching from 3g etc etc.
Mike
My unit just started that weird rhythmic clicking sound this Friday. I've had the unit for a month. I get the noise in all places I've used the phone - all around the city.
The clicks happen in pairs, 1 pair roughly per second. A sequence of these pairs lasts between 3 and 10 iterations. Then a break the length of one pair and off they go again.
I too have done a soft reset and stopped all apps running. The clicking persists.
Ok guys, i've a really huge problem: the speaker and the microphone of my wizard don't work anymore. Don't know why - there was no impact on the phone (it didn't fall out of my pocket or so). The two speakers on the sides are working sometimes but the one for calling doesn't work. Even the microphone doesn't work anymore - no one can hear me and I can't hear anyone. This sucks!
I thought of a software problem, but even after the third different rom I've had the same symptoms. I'm thinking about disassembly the phone with the service manual.
What do you guys think? What should I do? Anyone experienced this?
Had something similar
Speakers weren't working at all so i had to use my headset . 3 minutes later I got furious and took the phone and headset and repeatedly plugged and unplugged it to and from the jack.
it actually worked somehow, i was able to use the speakers again
I guess my actions caused it to short itself back to normal
You can easily replace it for about 5 bucks.
Well, i'm goning to take the phone apart to fix this - maybe the contacts to the speaker are just corroded. But I have to say, that the phone sucks! Nothing's working like it should.
I'm having this same problem, it happens for a while then it fixes itself. anyone find a solution?
Fix
The contacts that switch between the headset and the internal speaker/mic are most likely not making a good connection. You can take it apart and clean them/replace the jack.
Another (much easier) approach is to put some dielectric grease (auto parts stores carry it, it's used to keep spark plug boots from sticking to spark plugs or coil packs) on the contacts of the headset jack (the part that goes into the phone) and plug it in and out a dozen times. This will usually fix it for a long time. I've fixed several Wizards this way, and they haven't failed yet.
Tom
I just had this exact same problem for the first time last night, I was playing a computer game on my desktop and a plane flew over head and my wifi internet went out and my phone did exactly what your talking about.
It was just weird that it all happened at the same time. I can hear anything out of the speaker except for when someone is calling or i get a text.
Thank god i found this post, I will try doing something crazy or maybe cleaning it out.
Be checkin' back!
When I am playing music using HTC's sense music player, if I press the end call button to lock the phone, the music stops. This problem has only started happening last night, before it was working fine. The only new programme I have installed is SPB Travellers Demo. Any suggestions to fix this?
PS: if I manually lock the phone, it keeps playing.
It shouldnt happen if your using headphones, if your listening through the speaker then you just have to let the screen turn off on its own, just set it to time out after 30 secs........ its annoying i know.....
havent noticed a fix for this anywhere though.........
I havent really looked for one though to be honest, there probably is one.......
Thanks but I'm sure it used to work before ...

Now that you mention it I only noticed this recently and like you I dont remember it having happened before but because I rarely listen through the speaker I just thought I was imagining things and it had always done that...........
Now I'm really confused........
I know, does anyone know what might have caused this problem or any solutions?
sorry i dont know what causes this but it happens when i use headphones sometimes to - i find if i press the end call button straight after pressing play it stops but if you let it play for a few seconds then press it its ok?
Might be obvious but have you installed the official music stability update?
Yep, as I say, it appeared to be working fine until last night. The only programme I have recently installed is SPB Travellers Demo.
I am facing a problem with my new Galaxy S7 Edge gold where the sound suddenly disappears. (up to 5 times a day)
No Sound at all (notification, earphones , phone ringing, even if i answer the phone i cant hear a thing)
When i close all apps it goes back to normal (yet there is no specific app that when i close it by itself would solve the problem)
Have anyone faced such problem ? should i replace the phone on the warranty although its not a physical problem ?
Please HELP!
If this happened to me and Its not rooted, I wouldnt think twice getting it exchanged.
Did you turn up the volume

When i started the phone up again it's gone but for how long tihis is the third time in two day's. I put the latest rom on my phone now from Engeland. But on the forum's i see this problem more times. I hope there will be a solution.
I had this happem to me for the first time last night. Did a reboot and my sound came back. So far it has been working fine.. just hoping that it stays this way.

Having same issue. A reboot fixes it. I noticed that it only happens after a single app I use. In this case a certain game. It is only that app that mutes the sound on the phone. Doesnt happen at any other time. I dont play the game often so its not a big deal for me. No issues with sound otherwise. I have the Gold (FD) version.

Same issue here, with the F version. I have a certain game that won't release control on the sound. If I already have music playing when I start the game, it keeps going, but once the music app stops for long enough to give up the speaker, the game gloms on, and has to be manually killed to enable anything else to grab the sound. Works against headphones or speakers.
I theorize that this is Game Center related, since my s6 with 6.0.1 and the very same game does NOT have this issue.

Dokkan Battle - the funny thing to me is that I have both BGM and effect sounds OFF.
in my case i found out that a game on my phone called "Diamond Dash" is causing this issue. and it never happened to me again after uninstalling it.
but from what you guys say i see that the Galaxy S7 Edge is facing the same problem with some other games too
hope they will find a fix soon.

I do this to but for me the problen is still there with the new firmware. I have it wit real racing 3 but sometimes i lost all the sounds and somethimes not. Very strange, but i was already 1 time to late on my work because i not here the alarm. So the problem is that i not thust my phone on this moment.
My problem is when I have silence on I still hear notifications so I use Do not disturb. I think I've had other sounds issues but I restart my phone every morning so maybe that helps.

I have also noticed same after having played Real Racing 3 through the game tool.
Hope this issue will solved in a new update.
Will make a test and see if it continues to happen after playing.
Let's keep updated.
