Seller is quite obviously an XDA member.
EDIT: Guessing this is "public domain" stuff from XDA, too...

I think the thing i like best about his website is this:

But then it gets better.. at the bottom of the page it states this:

In all fairness (I didn't look at his website) what you quoted isn't racism. It's bigotry, no doubt, but I don't see anything specific to race.
Anyway, what a tool. You can tell his plan was well thought out.

The reason I ask, and ok, I did fall for it, before I knew a bit more about the unlocker from this site.. I thought it was an alternative method, and it was v3 of the very same software!!!
Some advice would be appreciated......

The king james bible IS NOT signed by a publisher or author, which is WHY it can be redistributed.. however, software contains signatures by the developer.

Inetmediasolutions is a dodgy VERO holder - see here:

It seems someonelse tied together a lot of unlockers and made them freely available. So the question is - did this guy pinch from us or him? In the end of course the development originated here.

Exactly, I do also. I busted a guy trying to do the same thing on craigslist a few months ago and he stopped.
I think this guy went to the Helen Keller school for web design.

if that company has it copyrighted and you can prove that you created it first you have a law suite. i dont know how microsoft or htc would react.

HTC / Microsoft won't do anything and if they really do, the would go after XDA first that's because the program is developed by XDA.

It is good that you asked, alot of people think that trying to sale you phone on here is not good. But i think that sometime it is ok, but then sometimes not!!!
I think that if you write some thing and let it go for people to read, then ok, but some people i have seen will try and keep it at the top of the list and it just bugs people!!!
But if you are nice and dont bug people, i dont think anyone would moan about it!!!
so a long story short, i would do it but if some one does not like it, take it out!!!

There is truth in what Funman says. In general we do not allow selling of devices on the forum except now and again when someone is letting it be known their older device is now for sale. Occasionally it's ok on a device specific board if it's for spare parts. Also I think it best that such adverts are kept away from device specific boards and put in General or Off Topic. If I were you I would PM Flar our admin for official guidance.

This is a disgrace. Anyone who exploits the hard work and unwaged development of Android/Linux on the Hd2 should know that you are only doing the community harm by discouraging devs to continue progress. You basically stole their knowledge and are hawking it off as yours. Disguisting.

This isn't the first time this had happened. Its hapoened like 5 other times thati know of. Yeah your right its messed up.

I wish there was a way to reply to his auction and scream "FRAUD!".. or give the seller negative feedback over and over again.

I just filed a report against the item as being copyright infringement.

What an idiot, he got that picture from XDA too. I think its from mattc?

i think the best way to fix this is for everyone to file a simple report of violation of android GPL. and intellectual property.
if ebay gets enough reports of similar auctions, it will go on their banned list. unless you can prove you programmed it.

maybe his mailaddress is a part of his account on XDA so you'll be able to track him down.
Stay in contact as long as you can, that way you will gather more information.
This is indeed a dis-craze to all hard working developers, accept when the seller is one of the developers hare at XDA...
to all developers, don't stop because of some stupid ass, your work is really appreciated!

Time for the Mod's to get involved and sort this matter out, reported it to e-bay but they aren't really going to do anything which is sad, but the mods here can!

Unbelievable! Just out of curiosity I did a search for "HTC HD2 Android" on eBay and there are several other no-conscience sellers peddling instructions on how to install Android. Outrageous! One seller "alpleco" out of Long Island has sold over 600+ of these instructions at almost $2 each.
There's just no shame!

i agree that is really wrong!!! these instructions were given to all of us for free. and now its being sold off! i hope ebay bans the guy that is trying to make money off of piracy! i would report to ebay but its not my work being copied and sold.
xda should take action!

I reported it to eBay and also posted a question saying "This information is availabel for free at xda-developers.com", which will appear at the bottom of the page.

Questions only appear at bottom of page if the ebay seller chooses to put them there, not just when anybody asks a question.

People buying this on eBay are most probably not too tech savvy and this can have a positive aspect as well :
-redundant questions will be directed to the seller and not (again) in anew thread here
But if somebody feels bothered by this, the best way would be to pm the buyer with the link to the free rom, this will most probably lead to a bad seller rating on eBay..
I personally don't mind, if I can sell something for $ although it is available for free, I am a lucky person then (or the buyer not too bright)
Maybe I should sell some air in a jar,- have some around here..

I don't see a reason why you should try and be a moderator and scare the OP away like this. He would get more attention from the TF101 section whereas, personally people including myself don't go to sections outside our perspective devices.
If you have a problem with it then just use the report feature, you don't have to call him out on it. It's not like he did it intentionally.

I've found it for as cheap as $113 + $11 shipping and it was in stock last night, several other places had it in stock for under $140

I'm not 'trying to be a moderator' nor am I trying to scare anyone away. Rules are there for a reason. And I did report it. As ALL users are meant to read the rules before they even post, and I believe that's one of the reasons they limited people's abilities to post to various areas, etc, people should all know these basic rules.

Limited posting? what? Dev forums always had a 10 post count required to post.
The post you made is just as meaningless as going into a thread into dev forum (or any other forum) and posting "wrong forum" just to raise your post count.
It's obvious that the OP didn't mean to break the rules intentionally. It was a mistake. People make mistakes, its apart of society.

I'm debating whether or not to buy a dock. I have a laptop but I'm always too lazy to unplug it(it's running windows server dual boot with win7) so I got the TF so I could bring it to class and stuff

Defender of n00bs? Not really.. just don't like people posting 'absurd' posts not helping out the OP regardless of the situation. I'm all about helping people and if that's not something you don't want to do. And you want to criticize how the OP posted it without posting any informative response to it then its simple. Don't respond back to it.

unless they did it intentionally, i don't think that it's such a huge problem. thats a moderators' job. you just do you and let the mods do their job, as a user you could just report their post and the mods will get to resolving the problem.
