Without getting banned I'd thought I would ask the question first!
If I had a new XDA Trion for sale, could I advertise it here rather than put it on eBay?
I've done a quick search through the forum & couldn't find any rules.
Thanks
Jamie

It is good that you asked, alot of people think that trying to sale you phone on here is not good. But i think that sometime it is ok, but then sometimes not!!!
I think that if you write some thing and let it go for people to read, then ok, but some people i have seen will try and keep it at the top of the list and it just bugs people!!!
But if you are nice and dont bug people, i dont think anyone would moan about it!!!
so a long story short, i would do it but if some one does not like it, take it out!!!

There is truth in what Funman says. In general we do not allow selling of devices on the forum except now and again when someone is letting it be known their older device is now for sale. Occasionally it's ok on a device specific board if it's for spare parts. Also I think it best that such adverts are kept away from device specific boards and put in General or Off Topic. If I were you I would PM Flar our admin for official guidance.
Mike
Thanks for the advise. I think I'll just eBay it. I don't want to risk getting banned!
Thanks again.

Hmmm......... posts on craig list and sells on xda devs - tells a story in itself... even before the craigslist post was removed ??????????
So sell it if you want, but stop double posting - this is a developers forum not ebay
Yep, this is a double posted reply
sorry saw others offer there phones on here before thought it was ok. it was removed cause i posted it on CL in computers and electronics. I wasn't trying to piss anyone off, just trying to offer my Tilt.
My apologies.
i posted it on market place if anyone wants it taking 60 for it look at the pics
Delete thread
Please respect the rules
No need to double post

Orb, hes sort of not double posting, he's just eger to get some money =]
So people who own a uni, might want another. and temokk is just giving the heads up... incase they'be missed it in the market place.
thats you now just my opinion =] no hard feeling
Mods please close
Thanks for justifying him, anyway there is no chance to double post and even not posting outside marketplace.
Mods please close
I think that the Uni sale must be in the UNI section since most people who go in the Market place will not bother about this phone due to its age. People who will probably buy this phone will no doubt hang in the UNI section of the forum - my opinion on this though. What do you think?
Not agree,
Universal still have a respectable place amongst any actual device and many users look to have one as a collectors device. Marketplace will expand that chances to all XDA members.
Also rules state that any buy/sell operation must go there
I personally agree that the UNI being such an old device, a prospective buyer will have a much higher chance of seeing it for sale here. Besides, the guy is just us a heads up that he posted it, not a "double post" per-se
With that said, I will close this thread, as it seems to have served its purpose of notifying users here, that one was posted for sale in the Marketplace.
I found this add on craigslist
he is charging $25 to just install android on HD2, I dont know if its right or not???
He's basically scamming you of something you can do for free.
You're already on XDA, how easy is it to use the search function and learn to do it yourself? Also, you have a variety of rom's to pick from ... and I don't think 25 dollars is right. What would developers think when they find out their work is being sold for profit.
My advice, don't.
Thats my point exactly, how would developers feel when their hard work is being sold without even informing them????
About me I already had tried android on my HD2 and right now happily using WP7 rom on my HD2.
My main point was can't we do anything to stop people like this making money from others hardwork
How many of these threads do there have to be?
He's not selling android, he's not selling the dev's work, read what it says, he's selling a service of putting it on to someone's phone. You'd be surprised how many people are still wary to touch their device in-case something goes wrong, so paying someone else who knows how it's done is no issue at all, people buy and sell services to each other every damn second of the day, this is no different.

FYI I am not flaming XDA with junk, I just wanted to make sure that XDA members are okay with this kind of services.
I owe a lot to XDA and because of XDA I am in love with my gadgets.
If everyone is okay with these kind of services, then I dont have any problem.
Well do a search and you would of seen dozens of threads just like this

If you're not advertising for the guy, how about removing the link to the advertisement?
As it stands, it seems like you're advertising for him.

I am not advertising for anyone, and I believe that whoever has clicked on that link is a XDA member, and I dont think that any XDA member would give someone $25 to install android on their HD2, instead they will do it on their own as lots of information is available on XDA forums.
I kept the link so that if someone from XDA need to take action against that guy, they can go through that link. But as everyone is okay with this type of services I am removing the link.
I would also like MOD's to delete this thread as it is of no use now.
Sorry once again to everyone if I have made any mistake by creating this new thread
Thank you for drawing my attention to that.

MOds...just close this thread.....useless piece of info and discussion...we dont care what craigslist sell....
Seriously backlashsid, calm down. The OP was simply stateing his aggravation over people selling developers hard work, we at XDA are all aggravated by this, but it cannot be stopped. The OP did nothing wrong.
First of all sorry to post it on wrong place. But i thougt this is place where it will get high lighted soon. Today i have seen, some one is selling installation guide for androied 2.3 for HD2 on e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.in/ANDROID-2-3-GINGERBREAD-HTC-HD2-T-mobile-/220740561800?pt=IN_Mobile_Phones&hash=item336529ab88#ht_790wt_1139 Some action should be taken from XDA people.
Dear Moderator,
Please delete this post once purpose will resolved.

Even more pathetic are the people who bought it, If they had took 2 seconds to search google for "HD2 Android" they would have an abundance of instructions for free.
Yeah You right

Yeah You right. This is not the place. But i have mentioned why i bought this thing here. Second! perhaps you don't care. But some people of XDA working hard to do this stuff for free. And someone selling their hard work for own interest. So may be they people have some serious care about this. I am sorry if i have offended you.

i agree that is really wrong!!! these instructions were given to all of us for free. and now its being sold off! i hope ebay bans the guy that is trying to make money off of piracy! i would report to ebay but its not my work being copied and sold.
xda should take action!
I reported it to eBay and also posted a question saying "This information is availabel for free at xda-developers.com", which will appear at the bottom of the page.

Questions only appear at bottom of page if the ebay seller chooses to put them there, not just when anybody asks a question.
Oh...... Fail. lol
I don't believe xda needs to care about..

People buying this on eBay are most probably not too tech savvy and this can have a positive aspect as well :
-redundant questions will be directed to the seller and not (again) in anew thread here
But if somebody feels bothered by this, the best way would be to pm the buyer with the link to the free rom, this will most probably lead to a bad seller rating on eBay..
I personally don't mind, if I can sell something for $ although it is available for free, I am a lucky person then (or the buyer not too bright)
Maybe I should sell some air in a jar,- have some around here..

I love my Shift but I find I'm just not using it any more.
I guess I'm looking for justification for keeping it - or advice on where best to sell it!
All comments welcome

Try XDA Marketplace - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=476
But be aware of fraudsers. Thus read the first Sticky thread very carefully (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100447)
Though in your case I dont think its very risky since you are the one selling....
Also search the Marketplace you will find persons who may be looking to purchase a Shift and you take it up from there. Like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931190&highlight=shift
and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880189&highlight=shift
and this other one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761091&highlight=shift
You could also try and trade your Shift with any other device you may need etc etc. But as I said tread very cautiously at the Marketplace. Pay particular attention to the trader/buyer's Feedback at xda
You could of course also go the ebay route.....
Thanks for the info. I did look in the marketplace to see if anyone was looking for a Shift but didn't turn up any... must learn to search better!
I've previously only ever sold via eBay and will probably end up going that route, but appreciate the input.
