Have some shame... this is no better than theft. How would you feel if your lawful earning was being "borrowed" by someone in this manner? Developers also have themselves and their families to support...

I'm not saying that specific story is fake, but they exagerate EVERYTHING, and downright lie at others... Will HTC start paying to use Android, yes.. Is it going "skyrocket the price of the Evo"? No, don't be stupid. They create headline to draw in traffic...

I'm not defending the guy, but i hate seeing people talk law w/o a clue.
Android is not freeware. under the Apache license, android can be redistributed for profit, even the gpl parts (kernel, webkit) can be sold as a completed work given that you provide the buyer the source for the affected parts (source that was gpl and it's derivative works).
it'sthe reason htc can claim copyright infringement on people posting ports of their builds but still have to release kernel sources.
besides, this guy is selling a service, not source. if the makers of haret made a provision that it can't be included in such a service then they could sue, until then, this is something that is sleazy, but legal.

He is selling his phone with a few extra bits and peices. At least he is upfront about what it is and where it comes from.
The bloke on Craigslist is selling his time to put the files on the SD card, big deal. Some people don't know how to do it so he is filling the hole.

This is a disgrace. Anyone who exploits the hard work and unwaged development of Android/Linux on the Hd2 should know that you are only doing the community harm by discouraging devs to continue progress. You basically stole their knowledge and are hawking it off as yours. Disguisting.

This isn't the first time this had happened. Its hapoened like 5 other times thati know of. Yeah your right its messed up.

I wish there was a way to reply to his auction and scream "FRAUD!".. or give the seller negative feedback over and over again.

I just filed a report against the item as being copyright infringement.

What an idiot, he got that picture from XDA too. I think its from mattc?

i think the best way to fix this is for everyone to file a simple report of violation of android GPL. and intellectual property.
if ebay gets enough reports of similar auctions, it will go on their banned list. unless you can prove you programmed it.

maybe his mailaddress is a part of his account on XDA so you'll be able to track him down.
Stay in contact as long as you can, that way you will gather more information.
This is indeed a dis-craze to all hard working developers, accept when the seller is one of the developers hare at XDA...
to all developers, don't stop because of some stupid ass, your work is really appreciated!

Time for the Mod's to get involved and sort this matter out, reported it to e-bay but they aren't really going to do anything which is sad, but the mods here can!

Unbelievable! Just out of curiosity I did a search for "HTC HD2 Android" on eBay and there are several other no-conscience sellers peddling instructions on how to install Android. Outrageous! One seller "alpleco" out of Long Island has sold over 600+ of these instructions at almost $2 each.
There's just no shame!

A 'One Time Use' XTC Clip, to put it bluntly.

The only drawback I see is when it has to be shipped from hong kong all the way to belgium. Clip + shipping costs + credit costs will still be to much for me, I suppose.
Does anyone know if that clip can be used for other devices as well?

it's fizically not possible without hardware to offer a permanent S-OFF solution, at least not in this moment.
and also don't forget, it's a gold card creator as well. plug in the micro sd, choose device you want make a goldcard for, press "create goldcard" and 10 seconds later, you're done.
