Seller is quite obviously an XDA member.
EDIT: Guessing this is "public domain" stuff from XDA, too...

I think the thing i like best about his website is this:

But then it gets better.. at the bottom of the page it states this:
* In this offer, the word "Ministers" should only be considered as referring to Christian Ministers. This offer decidedly does not extend to Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses or Muslim.

In all fairness (I didn't look at his website) what you quoted isn't racism. It's bigotry, no doubt, but I don't see anything specific to race.
Anyway, what a tool. You can tell his plan was well thought out.

The reason I ask, and ok, I did fall for it, before I knew a bit more about the unlocker from this site.. I thought it was an alternative method, and it was v3 of the very same software!!!
Some advice would be appreciated......

The king james bible IS NOT signed by a publisher or author, which is WHY it can be redistributed.. however, software contains signatures by the developer.

Exactly, I do also. I busted a guy trying to do the same thing on craigslist a few months ago and he stopped.
I think this guy went to the Helen Keller school for web design.

if that company has it copyrighted and you can prove that you created it first you have a law suite. i dont know how microsoft or htc would react.

HTC / Microsoft won't do anything and if they really do, the would go after XDA first that's because the program is developed by XDA.

I don't think the second link is a hoax - read the article.
It says the suit is going forward, no shocker there, and that a ban COULD happen if HTC is found to be violating the patents.
It really doesn't do anything but undermine the original article posted which states the ban is in effect. This thing is going to take a while to flush out - and it's something a court would have to order....the first link is either a hoax or entirely inaccurate.

I hope google decides to weigh in on this by updating iPhone/iPad variants of their products to no longer work..

I'm not defending the guy, but i hate seeing people talk law w/o a clue.
Android is not freeware. under the Apache license, android can be redistributed for profit, even the gpl parts (kernel, webkit) can be sold as a completed work given that you provide the buyer the source for the affected parts (source that was gpl and it's derivative works).
it'sthe reason htc can claim copyright infringement on people posting ports of their builds but still have to release kernel sources.
besides, this guy is selling a service, not source. if the makers of haret made a provision that it can't be included in such a service then they could sue, until then, this is something that is sleazy, but legal.

He is selling his phone with a few extra bits and peices. At least he is upfront about what it is and where it comes from.
The bloke on Craigslist is selling his time to put the files on the SD card, big deal. Some people don't know how to do it so he is filling the hole.

I can generalize because most of these outsourced employees have a language barrier or are either stupid so they don't understand anything. I've come across many employees like this while on technical support and it just gets plain irritating. I'm not trying to be racist and am not an individual who claims immigrants take American's jobs. Just stating it like it is.
Now tell me you haven't come across at least 5 stupid technical supporters... Are you going to say, "they outsourced the wrong person", everytime?
