Advice about rooting - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will root benefit my battery life?
Some people say is not worth rooting anymore

You can do some debloating without rooting. There is the package disabler pro for samsung devices. You can also use tools like greenify, which should help somewhat with hibernating apps and aggressive doze. Both options should be able to improve battery life considerably without root.
You do need root if you intend to go after wakelocks, which you can do with apps like amplify. This isnt mandatory as long as long as wakelocks dont keep your phone awake for too long though. Getting a different kernel could also improve things there but I can't say the difference would be dramatic.
All in all, I am inclined to say its probably not necessary to root your phone just for extended battery life. Having amplify is a relevant part of optimization but as long as you can kill the related app, you might not need it.

rooting and battery life

I Just received my note 3 about a month ago (broke my note 2 was upgraded to a 3 by insurance )
My battery life is just simply unbelievable i can go all day play game run apps and in still at 85%
My question: If I root my note 3 will I change , improve , or destroy my battery life . I have run stock root on my note 2 sprint ( my battery life was not to great on it , but i used app killers and I used autorun manager pro ) I root mainly because I want to use adaway but I am willing to live with ads if I can keep this kind of battery life.
any thoughts
Root, by itself will not bring such results, but things that root allow you to do, maybe can (improve or not your battery time). You can perform a debloat process, this can improve your battery a little; you can change your kernel, this can improve or reduce your battery time. Well there is a lot of things to do when you are rooted and every one thing you do, it's yours responsibility to learn and be sure about what you are going to do. With some reading and modifications you can achieve some remarkable results.

If you do root, and even if you don't, check out the app Greenify, if battery saving is your thing.

S7 Edge Battery Life after root is worse, due to Kernel / CPU usage?

So just before I continue this I want to say that I have Trickster installed and have done all the tips and fixes for root on the phone, and I notice that my battery drains pretty fast when in use.
I just was curious if it's cause of the Verizon version I'm on (before PE1) would anyone be able to tell me their battery life after root and give me any tips other than the ones already posted?
And please if you require more info on my battery stats, please ask, and I'll give you guys whatever you need.
Thanks in Advance.

I went back to stock after having almost all the possible modifications to enhance battery life on root. One small tip is that if you flashed the V15 fix zip, you didn't need to change governor settings manually. Even so, no matter what I did, I could only get to about 3 hours of SOT by the end of the day even without GPS use and all that before the battery is drained. After restoring stock, I'm seeing my usual 4-5 SOT of daily usage.
I'd rather wait to see if root is improved without the high CPU usage because of eng boot, from what I was told. Good luck.
I too have noticed decreased battery life though I can offer no suggestions to fix. I just downloaded a CPU control app to play around with. Right now I am able to get through the day so thats all that really matters, but its definitely decreased from before root.

Android 7.0 users, Greenify or Naptime helpful ?

Just curious, everyone running Android 7.0. Do you use battery helping apps like Greenify or Naptime ? Do those truly help extend battery life like they say, by a substantial margin ?
Thx.
I removed Greenify Donation running Xposed mode a few months back running PureNexus MM, and have noticed a minimal change in battery life.
I'm talking less than 5% difference.
The benefits of it now that Doze is a thing, isn't as great as it was back when Doze wasn't on our devices. Since Doze got a boost in N, I'd say it's not worth it anymore.
Smarten up with your apps like using Swipe or Metal for Facebook, etc. and you'll notice a world of difference.

Battery Life Improvements

Hey guys, so battery life is pretty good on my Axon 7; however, I am always looking for ways to extend it as much as possible. What are some 3rd party apps/modules you guys recommend that save battery life? (For example an app that prevents wakelocks) I've tried Amplify but Im not really sure what is safe to disable. I've also tried the Xposed Module Power Nap but it doesn't seem to function with most apps.
I'm using Amplify(stock tweaks)+Greenify(running in xposed mode+basically greenified all GCM apps and maps apps+using agressive dose)
I would say the agressive dose feature is the best one for saving battery in standby!
Haven't rooted or unlocked yet. Any use for Greenify?

Root vs Non-root Battery life?

After rooting and applying the patches found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
How is battery life before and after root? It's the only things that's keeping my from rooting right now
I got an s7 snapdragon rooted on 6.0.1
I've seen around that the heating problem is due to the cpu governor so I installed kernel adiutor i set the first cpu to conservative and 2nd to powersave (snapdragon shows something like 2 dualcores on adiutor)..that fixed it..
also i used buildprop editor to fix the wifi not saving after restart (apparently only happens when rooted)
and then lucky patcher to remove a bunch of system apps and that security.log.agent crap that keeps spitting out warnings every 2 minutes about "unauthorized actions have been detected..."
then i have lucky patcher also patching my youtube app on boot (the adaway one..not the xposed module) so i can have the redyoutube features..like background play...and no ads
I got the "always on display setting" set to off and gps off
basically I leave home on a 100% charge..get to work (25mins away driving) on a 99% charge...
spend my whole shift playing youtube video music playlists (on wifi using a bluetooth speaker)
and I get home with about 45% left....
I work 11 hours/day so I'd say the battery is pretty effing awesome...
my s3 would just die after like 3/4 hours of youtube play and I had a 3400mah battery in it (which is bigger than the one in s7)
I guess its just the hardware etc...that just uses less battery
anything that can last me a whole shift without recharging is awesome...using only about half? even better xD
my girlfriend has the lg g3 which im not sure about the specs now..but that one also was able to last me a whole shift...I have her on cyanogenmod nougat..rooted..same youtube stuff
so yeah...my switch from s3 to s7 def worth it xD
Battery life doesn't depends on Rooted or non rooted device. But in a rooted device you can use Luck Patcher to remove unwanted system apps to boost your Android battery life.

Engboot (which allows root) causes worse battery life.
