I just got my second silver s7 edge since my first one had a horrible battery life.
After getting this one and looking in bright light where the phone shines, I notice at the top of the phone under the glass on the edge of the silver foil stuff, it has a wrinkled look across the whole top.
I don't notice it on the bottom which seems to be the same exact dimensions, and also don't notice it on the back.
I tried to take a picture but the picture is very hard to pick up on camera and looks a lot worse in person.
I want to make sure this is normal or not because I didn't remember seeing it on my other s7 edge
Thanks

I don't think it's normal. I have the silver and I don't have any wrinkling.

I can see it.
Doesn't look bad but for a top phone this should not be the case.
Exchange again?

It's way worse in person under a light.
If AT&T will let me. I called one store and they told me I'd have to use my one exchange if I wanted another s7 edge.
So I called another AT&T (the one I went to) and asked them if I return my first edge that had battery issues for another edge can I still keep my one time exchange?
And they told me yes but next time I'll have to pay the 45 dollar restocking fee and I could switch to an iPhone (since that's what I told them I had before and it had good battery life)
I'm afraid they won't let me switch for another s7 edge for this reason even though I think they should. If I'm paying for a phone and have to keep it for over a year then I want it to be the way I want it. A top phone should be flawless.

I'm afraid they're gonna think I'm crazy or say they don't see it just so they don't have to do the exchange.
I have no problem paying the 45 and being my last exchange (even though I don't think I should since both phones had a defect)
I will make sure to look over the new phone before I leave.

You shouldn't, imho, have to pay anything but yes, do a thorough check with the phone on.
Hope this will be the last time you have trouble.
Great phone.

Yeah I just called another AT&T and explained my last 2 edge situations and they said their manager isn't there at the moment but said they don't see it being an issue. They said the phone has a 1 year warranty and u can swap it out as many times as u want for the same phone as long as there isn't any physical damage to it.
They said they would have to look at it though to make sure I'm telling the truth which they said they believed me.
Not sure if she's right on the 1 year thing though. I've heard 3 different things from 3 different AT&T's now.

Hey guys,
Since a couple of weeks I kept an eye on the HW-keys of my HD2. The laquer on them is vanishing more and more - it looks really crappy and somehow like it was an ugly full-plastique Nokia-phone...
Here some pics (quality isn't too good because the angle is quite tough):

Has anybody had a problem like this before and if so have you contacted HTC about this?
I'm definitely planning to notify HTC about that and want them to replace these HW-keys on warranty... I cannot accept this on a 600€ phone after 6 months...
My aunt has bought the HD2 recently and I realised that HTC obviously has already brought a new version of HW-buttons (also with phone-button clearly green and the off-button red - which I don't really like much).
Cheers!
Mine are also slowly coming off, but it isn't as 'present' as on yours. I barely use them buttons, but I think with my future switch to Android, they will indeed come off too..
I'm also interested in knowing whether HTC will be liable for this.

No, it's a German Vodafone-device (my aunts one).
Now I contacted HTC telefonically and I have to say: I never heard such a piece of rubbish from any mobile-manufacturer.
"Jenny" told me, that this is a "blamish" (in German "Schönheitsfehler") and I have to live with that, but I'm free to pay for a replacement - it is not a warranty-issue...
Sorry HTC, but if these are your last words, I'm gonna kick my HD2 to ebay and will NEVER buy a HTC-device anymore.
all i have done is scrap it off with my nail job done looks fine now no marks or nothing
That's because of misuse!!
You could protect your phone by placing it in a leather pouch, looks elegant, has the htc mark on it and cheap from ebay

HA HA
Sorry, but I NEVER "misuse" my phones or any electronic devices. I took and take care of my HD2 like it was made of 24 carat gold. And I of course carried my HD2 ALWAYS in a leather case that definitely does not scratch the hardware keys (checked it of course). I even didn't use the HW-keys at all for some time.
Everything I can say is, that I'm VERY dissapointed about HTC's customer care. I mean, the HW-keys are the only part of HD2 that is not made of better material than plastics - and I haven't ANY other signs of ANY usage at ANY part of the phone apart of these HW-keys (photos looking worse than it really is because of the flashlight of my digicam). I paid € 600,- for the phone and I definitely won't accept this barefaced answer from HTC.
the keys are covered and it feels cos of the edges and once it chips it continues all over they shouldn't have done them.
they should have just left them as they are

a pictures worth a thousand words .
phone fell off seat in movie theater, like 2 feet from ground..
was it naked?
I cried a little inside when I saw this picture..
without a case ? ya
sorry.
I hate how badly HTC tempers some of their phones [screen that is]
I remember when I got my first TP2, broke screen on first drop... I had a replacement,... That I still have... I treat it like trash! And lemme tell you this thing is sturdy. My Evo... Has been abused, dropped, fell straight on the curb of the sidewalk (right onto the raised part and onto the floor). Only visible thing is a tiny dot of glass that chipped off the lower bottom right.. This one is sturdy as hell too...
this was my first time dropping the phone, I only had it for about two weeks.
The screen is like scratch proof but not shatter proof, it should be the other way around at least (hopefully both). I tried using my keys to scratch out a hole in the glass so i could take it out and see if i could get a replacement glass but the keys wouldnt even scratch as hard as i tried
i died a little inside when i saw that picture. if that happened to my phone...i would probably cry
Dang that really sux. I was so scared when I dropped my Evo at work from a height of 30 ft and lucky for me I just had sum dirt in the kick stand but that was the day I added insurance on my bill. I'm sure if u have insurance they will give u a new screen as there was a time with my instinct I broke the screen 3 times in a month and Sprint fixed it no questions asked

@ the PIC why put a 500$ phone on a sent and EVEN take the chance of it falling ?
That sucks man . Well if you don't have insurance, they sell replacement touch screen digitizers on eBay. Not sure how easy it is to replace.
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Sprint-Evo-...862017?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4152abc101
I have no affiliation to that seller, just looked up the cheapest one that wasn't out of the country.
Looks like some guys just put up a repair video too and it doesn't look too difficult, but I'd be scared to do it myself lol.
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-evo-4g-glass-touch-screen-digtizer-lcd-repair-guide.html
Most sprint repair stores are stocking glass/screen replacements. Just go down there and get it fixed, generally they can do them in 15-20 minutes
actually im within the first 30 days, so im taking the phone back to a store and swapping it for a brand new one. which seems like a great deal to me.
if you are rooted you will probably have to unroot... but you already knew that
I just flashed back to the stock rom i found in the evo wiki, that should be good correct ?

Good luck man. 30 days or not they're probably not gonna just swap an obviously damaged phone out for a new one. Not saying it wont happen, just.. good luck!

You should be good with that. In my experience I've had no trouble taking rooted devices in to them. I always make sure at the very least it appears stock when they power it up.
I called them and they are the ones that suggested i just return it and get a new one since it's within thirty days. I called the store too, not sprint (sometimes they like to contradict each other).
Hi all,
Recently purchased an International S3 on a Vodafone UK contract.
I was surfing the internet last night and noticed a rather odd mark had appeared on the screen.
Think I might have to send it back as the mark will not disappear and is very noticable on a white background.
It also shows up on all the Red, Green and Blue screen tests in the service menu.
What do you think? The mark is on the bottom left edge!

Hi guys,
Sent this back to Samsung today. Got to be without the phone for a good 15 days sigh!
The company I got the phone with only offer 7 day return policy Great!!
Will be interesting to see if I get the same device back or if they replace it.
Paul
Its not as bad as it looks likes on the Pic.
The photo was taken with an iPhone 4 and the camera of the iPhone 4 has a lens which makes the center of the pic blueish.
Your screen looks a bit purple but every SAMSUNG GALAXY SIII has this.
I see no reason to return your phone.
But does anyone have an idea what that is? It doesn't look like screen burn...what could cause that?

Aerys, Are you not seeing the same mark as I am?
I have no issue with the overall colour of the screen. However, I do have a problem with the horrible piss stained mark that has appeared on the bottom left of the screen!!
Excellent!! Got my phone back today after 8 days without it.
Samsung have apparently repaired it, however I cannot check because they did not send my battery back with the phone!
Nice one Samsung, very proffesional!
To top it off they said a new battery will be sent and should be there on mon/tue next week.
Great! Another week without my phone.
Knew I should of got the iPhone...
I've had my phone a little over a month now and I've never experienced that. I also heard that the led fatigue issue wasn't so dangerous on the S3 as it was on the Galaxy Nexus and previous sAMOLED screen devices.
i had some similiar screen problems so i changed my s3 three times and all of them had the same problem with the screen so i got my money back and now i am wating on the Note 2

It was fine before putting it on the charger. I know because i was looking at the back and front before. When i took it from the charger suddenly i see a vertical crack from the top to the right center. No force No drop No back pocket nothing like that! Bring it back for repair and see how Sony treats his new Sony Smartphone User. Hope i do no regret abandoning Samsung....:crying::crying::crying:

Exactly my dilemma. I've seen enough reports of cracks to be convinced Sony cheaped out or did something wrong with this phone. But mine hasn't cracked yet and I actually like it a lot (other than terrible low light camera). I'm hesitant to reward companies when they skimp on something and then fail to acknowledge the problems they've created though which is why I'm considering a return even though I like it.
If reports start coming in of Sony fixing the cracks for free under warranty, then I'll be satisfied and keep it, I think.

So after a few days of use, I started noticing that I was unable to see the "People Edge" tab on the right side and while reading pages that were not exactly black in color, it looked like the 'edge' part of the phone looked as if I was looking at a TN panel sideways... So I compared this to my wife's phone and sure enough, it's a problem. On max brightness, I definitely don't get the same colors or anything of that nature, and it's significantly "bluer". Here are a few images for your viewing pleasure. I contacted the local VZW store and they said they'd exchange it once it comes back in stock (within my 14 day period).
** Note ** I did mess with all display settings and the color issue is not correctable.

You'll see the greyish look to it on the edges.. it's driving me freaking crazy. I paid $800 for a ****ing phone so I'm being picky.
If any of you guys are having this issue and within your 14 day grace period, return it and get another.
You're wasting your time if you return it, because the new one will have the same thing. It's a limitation of the design. The only difference is that on some phones the edge "shadow" appears more green, more blue, or more pink.
My S6 Edge had it and so does my S7 Edge. You'll stop noticing it after a few weeks.
My wife's does not have this issue at all, so I don't think that's true... if the one they exchange it for has the same issue, I guess I'll eat the $35 restocking fee and never own an 'Edge' phone again :|

I have never seen an "Edge" phone without this to some degree, but chances are you'll end up with it on the exchange device. Just go look at the demos in the stores
After a few minutes of Googling I again found the official Samsung article explaining this. Took me weeks to find last year when this issue was driving me nuts..
http://www.samsung.com/za/support/skp/faq/1076253
Your device is not faulty. The colors on the curved screen may look different depending on your viewing position.
The slight green tint in colour at the edges of the Galaxy S6 Edge display that you may observe on occasion is due to a phenomenon called WAD (White Angular Dependency) which is due to the inclined curved surface of the S6 Edge screen.
For an AMOLED display, the WAD phenomenon results in the colour white sometimes appearing to have a Green tint, or on occasion a Blue or Yellow tint when viewing the AMOLED at an angle. But when viewing directly from the front or side the colour will be as expected.

Same applies to S7 Edge.
Interesting, thank you very much. Yeah, guess it'll just be a return.
I'm very peculiar with my eyes. I can't wear glasses with my astigmatism because of the odd shapes I see so I doubt it'll just go away.

Glad to help. I was going through exactly what you were last year. Hopefully someone will be searching for this issue and find this thread down the road.
I have astigmatism, too, if it helps. I wear toric contact lenses. Eventually I just somehow learned to ignore the edges. I had forgotten about it until you brought it up.

I would encourage you to do the exchange and see if the new one is slightly better (the tints are all a bit different). Maybe it'll be less noticeable? But then again, the new one might be worse to your eyes. It's a lottery
