Low battery auto-shutdown - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rarely let my battery get to extremely low levels, but the other day it did reach 3% or so and the phone powered off. It did not do a clean shutdown, just turned off. Is this common behavior for the Moto X Pure? I am used to phones doing a clean shutdown when the battery gets to around 1 - 2%. My wife's Moto G3 running stock 6.0 does a clean shutdown.

[Q] LG G2 turns off at 40% battery, won't turn back on

My LG G2 (verizon) turns itself off and will not turn back on when the battery reaches 40% capacity (or sometimes in the 20 to 30% range). When I plug it into the charger, I am turn it on and use it again, and it indicates that the battery is not fully depleted. It also seems like the battery is depleting more quickly than usual during use (web browsing).
In short, the phone behaves like the battery is dead, while indicating that it still has a significant charge left.
Are there any tests I can run to identify the problem? Or other troubleshooting tips to resolve the issue? Thanks for your help.
Battery most likely busted. Abnormal reading of the battery is a common symptom. Had it before on a HTC one..
This problem coincides with the installation of the new Lollipop OS also.
I started the upgrade, then realized it was 640MB and I wasn't on wifi, so I cancelled it. The problem started around then. I have since completed the upgrade with no improvement in the battery issue.

Moto g4 randomly shutting down at any given time

Hi there,
Since a few days my Moto G4 has been randomly shutting down (instantly) at any given moment. Battery charge does not matter. 100%, 20%, all the same. Sometimes when it has shutten down and i boot it up again, the phone says that the battery is 1% or something low, but when i put it on the charger it quickly goes back to whatever it was. I have tried installing a different rom but that didn't work.
How can i fix this?

Restore back to stock rom, calibrate battery, and if still no better, change battery as it likely is bad

My son's G4 had the same exact symptoms. Random reboots from any battery level. Typically after boot the battery level would drop dramatically from e.g. 80% to 5%. Extremely fast battery level drops after charging. Abnormally fast charging to full etc.
Send it in for repair and got it back after 5 days or so - everything fixed. Very likely bad battery or connection to battery.
If you are already on stock then definitely get it repaired. If out of warranty you can try to replace battery yourself, available on ebay and instructions on youtube.

Strange shut down.

My Moto x pure edition has picked up a little quirk. It shuts down for no apparent reason under really light use, like scrolling between screens. It always seems to happen right around 30% battery level. After it shuts down, a reboot gets to the logon screen and then it dies. I can do that a couple of times and the same thing happens. If I plug it into a charger it shows zero battery but it will boot and I can log in. The funny thing is after logging in the battery shows 30% remaining on the android battery meter and it works fine without the charger. Seems to discharge normally from this point. This has happened about 5 times in the last couple of weeks. In summary the same thing happens every time: Shuts down at about 30% battery, won't log in without the charger, shows dead battery when charger is plugged in, after logging on the battery shows 30% charge, normal battery life for the remaining 30%. I am thinking something battery related but battery life is not too bad.
Particulars:
Moto x Pure ed
xt1575
Original battery, about 2.5 years old, battery life is on the decline but still ok.
Android 7.0
Stock Android not even rooted.
Running on Verizon soon to be T-Mobile.
Any Ideas? This has been a really great phone and I am not quite ready to walk away. I would buy another tomorrow if it was available new.
Thanks any help
John
That means your battery is getting old and can't provide enough charge for some heavy operations. I would suggest you to get the battery replaced.
I hope not. My experience is the available aftermarket batteries are junk. Not worth the effort. I noticed there was a battery thread, I will take a look at it and see if there is a solid battery available.
Thanks
John
Mine recently started dying at around 35%, chalking it up to old/depleted battery....plug it in, it powers on showing 35%.....I'm going to ride it out until op6 (possibly pixel xl 3).
This has been happening to me for about a month now, except there is no approximate battery level that it occurs. Most recently, I pulled it off the charger to take a photo, and it just shut down. Held the power button down and it showed the battery at 0%. I then reconnected the power cable, and it showed 95%, so I tried to power it back on and it bootlooped. Tried again and everything was fine. Unplugged it and tried rebooting it and as soon as it was finished, it shut down. Plugged it back in and let it sit powered off for ten minutes, unplugged it and it's been working ever since. But, this will occur at any given time and has made the phone too unreliable for daily use, so I had to go back to my S4 until I can get this figured out. Such a bummer, because I've gotten really used to that big screen and not having to wear 'cheaters'...lol
Ok, seems like it is not a completely unique prob. I have a battery on order. I will see if the swap fixes it. Thanks for the help.
Did you get any solution? Mine started shutting down @ < 50% when I start video app
Use a battery voltage monitoring app like 3C battery monitor and see if the voltage floats around too much, if it does then it's dead.
Well here you go:

That's where I brought my battery when it was starting to die.

[Q] How does your G6 behave when it runs out battery?

Hello guys!
I've been wondering - how your phones behave when they run out of juice?
All my previous phones were going from 100% to 1% without any problems, then, when the battery was at 0% there was a message that Android is shutting down and the phone then turned off. Normal thing.
However on my G6, I've NEVER had such message, also my battery never went to 0% or even 1%. It always stays at 3% for some time, then suddenly it drops to like... 2% and then it shuts down instantly without any warning. Sometimes it shuts down at 3%... Just turns off, no message displayed.
And before you reply - yes, I know that I should never drop the battery that low but sometimes it's not that easy when I'm travelling somewhere and my powerbank is also dead. But I'm very curious how your phones behave, that's why I'm asking
Besides - one time I had a problem with my battery when it was around 30% and my phone cooled down to like... 0 degrees Celsius. It also turned off instantly and was dead until I warmed it up. Did you have such problem too?
Thanks in advance!
"unfortunately" LGs have always had that behavior, similar to the "longer 100%".
About this some users believed that LG battery percentage is calculated differently according to the user usage, but who knows the truth...
Only thing I could say you for certain is that it's "normal" on LGs

So, my last 5 phones was an LG and i guarantee you this is normal with LG phones.
In the first ten or eleven chargings the phone should drop like 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and shut down at 1% but fast when change from 2 to 1.
when well calibrated i mean let it discharge fully 1 time per month and they only should shut down when it reach 2%. LG phones only go at 1% when new and always go off at 2.
I dont know why your phone dont display the shutting down message isnt normal because my LG phones everyone of them show it, maybe is too fast and you dont see it was i belive it is.
My G6 was only about 1 week and only shutting off at 1% but my V10 shut down almost at 3%.
The 100% bug is an LG thing but for me this is a calibration method different than Sony, because sony will go 0% before go off and LG dont.
DOnt you worry, is normal but if you can charge it when have 30 - 35% is better because leave it discharging too many times lowers the cicle of life than a battery can last.

G5 plus getting warmed and battery draining

I have Moto G5 plus.. Recently from few months phone is getting hot and battery gets draining fastly.. today i charged my phone to 100% in switch off mode from 0%..but after switched ON the phone is getting hot and battery drained from 100 to 80% within 30 minutes and also phone get hot without using...please help me
Try to factory reset
You either have defective hardware, or a rogue app is keeping the processor tied up... First try clearing the cache partition, and if that fails to help install a battery monitoring tool like GSAM and after a few hours of normal use look at the top battery users, with this amount of drain occurring the culprit should be very easy to spot.
