Samsung new update labeled APG1 will remove the option to freeze the theme store apps. You can freeze it via the app then it automatically goes back to normal? Samsung has some really sneaky tricks up its sleve

Have you tried package disabler pro from the play store? I have yet to come across anything it can't disable.

I disabled both with the app you suggested before posting here. I did tired it again and failed. Guess they do got sneaky tricks soon they will lock down the new root method.

I took the update today and my theme changed a few minutes later. I am currently using Package Disabler Property (samsung) by policedeveloper. I think I paid .99 for it, if others have there themes working let us know which Disabler are you using.

Wait... so the purpose of this thread is to discuss how to get around paying for themes?

Nope it's to see If I was the only one. Seems not. Don't get your panties in a bunch man I got over $300 of paid apps from the play store since when it was Android market I pay for my apps. I like to try out the themes for more than 5 minutes without spending $3 every time.

Regardless. It's still against forum rules to discuss circumventing anything that would require payment. I'd suggest discussing the matter with the developer not the forum.

Let's lay our cards on the table here.
Not EVERYONE knows. There are members that don't even know how to root their phones with a step by step guide and video to show them how to do so. Some may not be as clever as you or myself. Any discussion which may result in a loss in revenue for any app or theme is a direct violation of XDA forum rules. Remember, many of those developers are members of this forum too. If they chose to put a price on their apps then XDA must respect their wishes. Failure to enforce said rules within the community is negligent. Therefore, rules must be enforced. That is why discussion of this type is strictly prohibited with zero tolerance. So please don't. I know that you know... you know that I know. But not EVERYONE knows. So there could be "damages" to this thread. Which is why it cannot be permitted.

How about we sometimes not break them, and then other times also not break them. Then on those special occasions, we still don't break them.
Then after everyone has gone to bed and it's just me and you hanging out eating pizza rolls (burning the roof of our mouth) - we still don't break them?
How about that?

Id hardly say that this is showing the op the rules. You sarcasticly opined "not gonna work around here"
You didn't cite a rule or even a reason until I prompted you.
How does that help the op to just tell him not to post this, but give no reason why? I honestly thought you were implying that the users wouldn't like it beccause its an affiliate link. You never mentioned a single rule in your first post to him.

[OT] I would like to propose the following rule changes

For this section and this section alone, I would like to propose the following rule changes:
1. You must be a member of XDA for a period of no less than 6 months, and have contributed no less than 100 posts before being permitted to submit something here.
2. You must not resurrect an old thread ("Thread Necro'ing") that has lain dormant longer than 72 hours (3 days) as this can cause some confusion on whether or not a deal is still valid. Most deals posted within this section last 3 days or less, let's let the threads go quiet and stay quiet after they've served their purpose.
I humbly submit these minor changes in an effort to help the Member Found Deals section run a little bit smoother.

I could agree with #2, but I think #1 is pointless. I haven't seen a new member come in here and post anything useless. Why restrict them? I've seen veteran members more often then not come in here and either post stuff they're trying to sell or posting things that aren't really good deals.
I've relayed the information to our mod-team. I am also in support of your second point (not so much the first).
#2 sounds like a great idea.
#1 doesn't work. Why reward the blabber-mouths that make pointless posts and ask the same stupid questions over and over again, while penalizing those that read, use search, and don't clutter up the forums with useless drivel?
I'm glad to see that these recommendations are being discussed at least. The second one got me the other day so that's the one I really wanted to see in-place, however, I threw out the first one to try to alleviate those who're posting sales of their own items. Anyone have a way to address that fairly, any idea at all?
I agree except for #1. It seems to. restricted
Sent from my PantechP9070 using xda app-developers app
yeah, as someone with under 100 posts (but still a 3+ year user) I'm not thrilled about #1. I only post when I need to. We need to encourage people to search out their issues instead of just posting to up their count.
I disagree with number 1. I think that number 2 will be helpful but what about discussions that last longer than 3 days or deals that last longer than 3 days?

The expiration date is a great idea. Would the mods agree to just come along and lock threads that are past expiration (or immediately lock those that don't have one?)
would it be ok if the OP bumps a thread if he knows the deal is still live?

Why lock it maybe the OP does not know the expiration date? People could benefit from it. maybe lock it if it is known to be done deal already.

sometimes ppl follow up on items they bought. locking the thread would stop ppl from doing so.
for example I posted a thread on cheap knock off ps3 controllers. im hoping it will work and pair with my phone. I don't have a ps3. when I receive it I was planning on letting the thread know what was the result. would that be bad?

Let people know how it went in case the same deal pops up. I think there should be an expiration date if applicable else listed as unknown/confirmed dead/confirmed alive.
#1 - I think the consensus on that is no and I agree. As said before, a deal is a deal - it doesn't matter who told me it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
For number one to stop people from posting deals I say delete op and lock thread instead. That is why they keep doing it because if locked still get deal out there and can get pm's. I also say a tally system were under thanks have "deal interactions" first is warning one tally, second temporary punishment infraction and so on.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
The expiration date is only based on last active post in the thread. If the last active poster was 72 hours ago and you're not responding to a direct question, then that should be considered necro and would be against the rule.

Avoiding using the word "warez" does not obfuscate your intent, since that is the only sort of app that would be banned from XDA. That is, unless you can name some other exception that you are specifically looking for.

Not wares, just an alternative market. I won't vouch that every app is legit and safe but they have a lot of apps that got the boot from the official play store that I don't see anything malicious about them. Be careful. A couple of examples are emulators from yongzh and adfree android. His emulators were very highly rated but got the boot for some trumped up terms of conditions violations with Google play. I don't know the story behind either but many of the apps that used to be on the play store, but aren't any more, and were legit, and not malicious, are over at slideme.org

Petition To Unlock/Root Phone??

Now I'm sure this has been posted before, but after searching for like 20 minutes I could only find one to unlock a phone to go to a different carrier, not for root.
If no one knows of one, I would like to start one on We The People's website so people like us on Verizon can have the same opportunities as others do on other carriers that don't lock down this so dang hard.
Now of course, being the sh***y administration that Obama's is, last year they changed it from 25k signatures to 100k (and from 5k to 25k back in 2011) to be taken seriously. But I KNOW there is more than 100k Verizon users on here on XDA.
The only tough part would be spreading the word in the 30 days we have to achieve this to everyone who wants this. Maybe XDA can work with us and somehow create a pop-up to when you are on the site or app notifying them of this petition to sign? I know a lot of people would also shrug it off and think it's just spam, so maybe even a PM to everyone?
Now, to get Verizon to take this seriously as well, we would need to have a foolproof plan. We would need to put rules on this for them to even consider this. Such can include (but not limited to, add any you think should be added):
•soon as you root/unlock your device you have now voided your warranty (as it already is) and therefore would need to pay full price for a new phone IF you bricked your device or any other NON physical damages (Water, drops, cracks, etc)
•maybe even pay a small time fee of $50-$100 per phone for this root so they can actually earn some extra money (don't be cheap, you pay $200-$600 dollars per phone, and donate money here so it's the least you could do for freedom).
•That's all I've got for now, but I've been up since 8pm last night working, so my brain isn't fully functional right now so please add!
I'm sorry, but I don't think we will ever have the same abilities as other carriers. If we want to stick it to the man, we will have to do it how we have always done it. Behind their backs and find ways around the locks for what we want. Them giving us the ability outside of a Dev device, won't happen. They don't want us having any more power than that they will allow.
I like the thought, but I really don't see it happening bud.
Nice thought, Dennis but I doubt this would work. Many reasons, but probable the biggest is Verizon has heck of a lot more lawyers (working for them) than we do

lol i'm not sure the relevance of the lawyer comment? i'm not saying we need to force verizon to do this, just something to make them aware that out of over 100 million users on their network, a nice little portion would like this option. they can still make plenty of money out of it, whether it be that one time fee i suggested, or if something happens to your phone other than physical damage, you have to buy a phone at full price.

It has more to do with all the whiny - no skill devs who constantly complain about him not releasing the sources to his kernel ...probably because they cant accomplish the same on there own.
This is the on going theme here with many roms and many highly skilled devs

11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.

Pro-Tip #1 – Sell in the correct area
If you have a paid app that you are advertising on xda-developers, it must be posted in the Paid Software Announcement and Discussion section, which has a few guidelines that need to be followed before posting. To save you some reading, you must be a member in good standing with some good history behind you on the site. This way, we ensure that people are not here solely to sell stuff.

Pro-Tip #3 – Link =| Spam
Be mindful of the amount of advertising you do with your paid work. Again, you can link from within the thread of your free version. However, you cannot include direct links to your paid apps in your signature, profile, or anywhere else. You can, however, put links to your free app threads in the aforementioned places, which already contain links to the paid counterparts. Simply put, you must first present your free app before you direct others to your paid work.
