Nexus 6P sometimes laggy? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ! First of all, sorry for my english, im from spain hahahaha
Lets see... I have my nexus 6p since april and im so happy with it except the amoled burn in in screen buttons and the thing Im going to explain now. When you are using the 6p for a long time, the phone gets a little hot and it start to go a little laggy, is true that os is my 6P? I think is the thermal throttle of the 810 v2.1 or something and in games this is noticiable, any idea or solution? I love u guys <3

try using ctt mod, it minimizes the lag problem a bit, but still you will experience lags at above 50 degree temperature

Yes it's the thermal throttle. I'm not too hard on my phone do it always performs smoothly, but the mood definitely helps

If you are not on the July firmware update, i recommend using CTT Mod along with Lean Kernel. Using these 2, on Pure Nexus June release, has been virtually a lag free experience.

I9505 Overheating

Its gets warm just under the camera, and the upper side of the display.. Even when Im not doing anything demanding..
I can surf and it gets warm.. But when I play games/run benchmark it gets REALLy hot imo..
Do you suffer from this as well?
Its clearly annoying how warm it is..
its the fastest phone right now, i personally expect it to be a good hand warmer during the winter... lol put it in battery saving mode and it should run cooler.

the display is putting out some of the heat, as well as causing the battery to put out some heat, im not sure what else u want me to say lol
The answer to put it in Power saving mode kind of defeats the object of having a phone like this.
But yeah, i would expect it to get quite warm, still awaiting my delivery so can see for myself soon enough!

oh im not saying i disagree, im just saying thats the way it gets. however
-you can disable power saving mode effecting the screen at all
-also try putting a thin case on it that might help if you just dont want the feeling of a hot phone

At least it does not get hotter than Xperia Z and google nexus 4. I have this s4 qualcom version as well, and it does get warm but it gets hot only if i turned on 3g + playing games. i think it is normal.
Got the same issue on my I9505... its really hot imo. This is my first Android so i dont know any to comapre it to maybe the iPhone 4s when it gets hot. But S4 is way hotter that the Iphone.
Any idea if this is indeed normal or my unit is broken?
I am having the same problem with my i9505. There is already an opened thread on the subject. For more information go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2252978
No heating issues myself, my i9505 runs a lot cooler than my I9100 ever did.

I had issues with my i9500 on a older firmware. I updated to a newer one and the issue is pretty much gone. You could try updating to a newer firmware too?
My SHV-E300S heats up as well.
If your smartphone is not getting warm or hot, then that is not a smartphone. All devices that has a processor and a gpu intends to get hot. If your device won`t get hot then it is abnormal. Simple as that.

Placebo effect. The new firmwares have indeed some tweaks, like slower recharge in order to not render the phone unusable while plugged to the wall, but it does not solve the main problem.

Graphical artifacts possibly GPU damage

Hi everyone, this is my first thread on XDA. Now that we have the pleasantries out of the way ... straight to the point. I just bought a Nexus 7 2nd edition/2013. Being the power user that I am (still haven't rooted it xD ) started trying out some emulators as a test, namely ppsspp and dolphin for android. Both of those are in development and highly unstable.
It's worth to mention that my first day of use was flawless. Here it comes ... BUT ... after messing around with dolphin I managed to well simply crash the OS. The tablet completely shut down, probably to prevent damage (e.g. bluescreen style). When I switched it back on everything seemed fine, until I played a video and I noticed that blacks/browns were pixelated (like artifacts). I installed the video game Magic 2014 and I'm unsure if I noticed it before or if it happened just now but during the intro I get the same issue with blacks - highly pixelated, and one of the images has 3 or 4 lines. In game performance is smooth and absolutely no issues.
The ppsspp and dolphin emulators both have options which push the CPU/GPU and memorry quite a lot. The tablet however hasn't been heating up at all.
What do you think ? Have I damaged my 3 day old nexus baby's GPU ? Or is it a software - driver issue ? Maybe something else
Help me oh great xda crowd

My G2 D801 with KK lags on low requirement games

Hey I'm back once again with another issue I am really surprised to be seeing LAG or FPS skip on games like temple run 2 or subway surfers when I get no lag on any of my GTA games (I own all 3) the only time GTA starts to lose fps is if I play for an hour PR so logically but like I said I get fps lag on those games that don't require a good CPU and yet even with a beastly phone they lag .. So can anyone help me fix this or know how because its pretty frustrating how one can't play a game like subway surfer without losing his mind ... ADDITITIONAL INFO: the UI of the phone is really fast and I have no problems web browsing or going on apps like fb.

Well umm I don't root and there should be a way to solve this without root because I'm sick of this phone.. I should have bought a 5s.. I think it just go back to my Nexus 4 since I never had any problems with it.. I would root if there was a CWM for d801 and made by someone who can put up a good guide but I bricked my G2 on twrp months ago and ain't doing it again

I did try that couple days ago but it did not get rid of lag on low requirement games .. I ended up just turning it off again because my CPU got really hot fast while doing basic things like web browsing or listening to music etc so now that its off don't overheat really fast which is strange because its supposed to monitor the CPU .. Thanks for attempting to help though
I'm considering going back to Jelly Bean from what I remember the phone UI was slower than but my battery life was really good I got 6-7 hours now I get max: 4 and a half hours if I'm lucky .. And also I I'm pretty sure I did not have any sort of gaming issues on low requirement games.. Is this a good idea.. I'll do it in the weekend because my friend knows how to go back to stock .. I'm not really good with these sort of things Lol

My guess is that you have some kind of app that is sucking your cpu.
Check for rogue apps and uninstall any application that may cause slowness

Nexus 9 is #1 on Passmark

Looks like the Nexus 9 far surpasses all other tablets in performance.
http://www.androidbenchmark.net/passmark_chart.html
Amazing how much of a difference there is. While the Nexus currently scores an average of 8152, the Samsung Galaxy S line of tablets score around 5500. The Nexus 10 and Nexus 6 both score around 4000. The original Kindle Fire, which was my last device, scores just 1400.
EDIT: The Nexus 9 is also the fastest device on Antutu.
Yet constant reboots and freezing apps like chrome and gmail make it frustrating to use.

This tablet has been factory reset probably 20 times between trying all the kernels and a few of my own, resetting is just a temporary fix. Factory resetting isn't doing anything special. Its just clearing cache and ram giving a temp fix. When the tablet heats back up starts throttling and ram starts filling up, the same issues come back every time. Trust me, I wish it was that easy. I really want to like this thing.
I have no idea what people do on/with their tablets to cause these so called issues but I don't get any of those problems with mine. Perhaps if people stopped effing around with them then they would work as expected. Just saying........

3 tablets 3 times? Doubt it. I don't think this should be news to people. I will say this though- being slow at opening some apps happens all the time. My nexus 5 is always faster than the 9.
The lag OTOH, only gets really bad proportional to heat. While browsing earlier the CPU got to over 140°(F) in a relatively short period, and that is when it turns in to a lagging turtle of a tablet. I have not looked at any of the thermal cut offs in source, but it didn't seem to be going past 1500 MHz.
Add to this not much free ram, which happens all the time on this tablet, it becomes a nightmare.
But, I either get pissed and return , or I get pissed and want to help. So I cloned the source get it compiling now I have a few things I wanna try. One seems to be at forefront as soon as I have so me patches in my treeq may I'll give it a whirl.
Gotta get back accustomed to git its been a while.

Touch Latency

Hi guys, I was thinking of getting a Oneplus 2, but touch latency and display response is very important to me so I wanted to see what you guys think
Go for it, OnePlus 2 is a good phone apart from the heating issue. Touch latency can be fixed by flashing Custom ROMs or AOSP.. It's pretty fast. Try with your friends' device some time and check it out yourself.

Heating issue? You must have a defective unit, playing one hour real racing 3 and dead trigger 2 on leaked hydrogen marshmallow and the phones stays warm, not even hot.
And I modify thermal file so it doesn't throttle. It doesn't shutdown cores and throttle starts at 57° (quiet_term sensor) and the max temp in an hour of heavy gaming was 44°. So... Heating issue?..

A little off topic. Good news if you play games. I don't know if its marshmallow (I'm using h2os leak) optimizing apps or real racing update, but it tends to use big cores instead of little, this means better performance and less heat. My max was CPU 61° and 44° quiet_term after 30m. This is really good!, my nexus 5 gets way hotter. I will try another games later to see if its marshmallow or it was rr3 update.

way slower than my n5 or for example an Ipad air 2 which has like 9ms touch latency.. (apple pls stop teasing me with this)
So you understand better. Its not super bad, but definitely noticeable enough to the point where it will annoy you if you think about it! (stuff just doesnt stick to your finger. its always behind. After a while you just dont notice it anymore.

Coming from an HTC M9 to the Oneplus 2, the delay has consistently been driving me crazy. I hope M alleviates this, since I suspect it's related to Oxygen OS. I have reported it to Helen directly and she said they would look into it.
It's especially noticeable when typing on the keyboard.

I finally got the oneplus 2, touch latency is quite a bit worse than what im used to but still smooth and fast. Im interested as well to changes m would bring but it feels like the latency is a hardware limitation
The delay at opening apps is launcher related. I don't know if that's the delay you're talking about.

No. I don't think it's hardware related at least for my oneplus 2.
I was using galaxy s6 before and lost it, bought oneplus 2 afterwards and my first expression was what a horrible device it is.
Slow touches slow response, awkward DPI.
Rooted it and installed custom rom based on oxygen OS and set DPI to 400 and all animation to .75, since then I feel it's fast and snappy.
Try this I hope your touch latency issues wll be solved.
