Here are the Marshmallow Update 6.0.1 issues I have so far on my T-Mobile Note 4 (just updated today):
1) Random Reboot
2) Amazon app issues
3) Can't open txt. files
4) Can't reset the Default app to open up PDF files
5) Lag
6) Apps suddenly quitting
7) Increased battery drain
I had random reboots, lags, and app freezing. Had to factory reset and all is good. It's been about a week.
Sent from my SM-N910T3 using Tapatalk
I might give Factory Reset a try, but not yet. I need to make sure that I have everything backed up correctly.

It is 100% caused by not doing a clean update / install.
Would a Factory Reset fix the excessive battery drain issue ?
I just updated and the only issue I'm having is reaaaallly slow LTE. It's painfully slow. I've tested it several times and its not even going over 1Mbps sometimes it jumpa a bit more but it always goes down.
Any ideas what that could be?
My T-Mobile Internet connection has always been very slow. Charter WiFi at home is great. Here is an image showing my Internet connection on my Note 4:

Why is my image not displayed ... ?
A lot of my problems came from restoring apps from old versions. After some digging, it turns out I was carrying old Titanium backups from 3 different phones. Cleared the old/ non-compatible apps and no problems since.

Ideally its best to at least factory restore wipe.
However, I personally always do the following on new ROMs and new Android versions.
-Backup things you want from your internal storage
-Make sure you have a Tar of the version you want. (and Odin of course)
-Flash TWRP if you don't already have it flashed
-Boot into TWRP
-Wipe System, Data, Internal Storage, Dalvik, and Cache
(once you do this your phone wont boot as there is no OS installed on the phone)
-Boot into Download
-Use Odin to flash the Stock FW tar file you want.
Doing this method will ensure you have a 100% clean install of the new Android version and/or ROMS
It can be a pain to do all this because you have to set everything back up.
However, I have seen this resolve so many problems at this point I personally feel this is a must.
Too many people are out there saying A Rom, a new Kernel, or a new version of Stock has this problem or that problem with out actually going clean stock. Have some problems with MM, a ROM, or a Kernel?
Do this!
Well, I finally gave in and did the Factory Reset. I need to charage my Note 4 up to 100% and see how many hours I get from my ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery now .....
Still have the issue with Default apps settings ......

I followed this step-by-step down to the letter and have not been able to solve the problem of apps losing their updates after reboot. I've actually tried this twice already and I'm now in the process of downgrading to 5.1.1.

Something isn't right here.
It is in your best interest to find out what went wrong.
It seems that 5.1.1 and below is known be conceptually a horrible version of Android (at least for our phone).
The several things including memory management have vastly improved on MM.
Please feel free to PM me and perhaps we can chat via some chat medium to get this resolved.
Make sure you are using the proper APN for your carrier.
Lollipop was much better on my Note 4. Although my Note 4 still had problems with excess battery drain, but I could still put my Note 4 through constant heavy use for over 14 hours and come home with battery power still remaining.
My Note 3 does much better with battery management. I have the same ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery in both Note 3 and Note 4. I have been using the ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery in my Note 3 for more than two years, and still get much better battery life than my Note 4 with a brand new ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery.
I tried using the stock battery in my Note 4, and only got 4 1/2 hours, but would have gotten much less if I had been out gaming at night. Probably would have gotten only 2 or 2 1/2 hours.
I might take my Note 4 to Best Buy and have them do a Software Reflash ..... If the Note 7 had a removable battery, I would definitely get the Note 7.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones who did a dirty update with no bugs
Interesting ..... With each update some people have serious issues, some people only have minor issues, and some people even claim they have no issues.
For me, Lollipop was good, but the most stable was KitKat. My Note 3 is still at Lollipop 5.0, with only minor issues. Great battery life with my Note 3. Battery life is seriously damaged on my Note 4. If I do not get an update that fixes this issue, I will be forced to buy a different smartphone that has a removable battery, and compatible with ZeroLemon 10000mAh extended battery .....
my biggest issue with marshmallow is that everytime i send texts, my phone lags really bad. everything else works perfectly, but the stock messaging app lags when i'm sending texts even if it's just 1 regular text. it also lags when i'm receiving a lot. no issue with this from lollipop. clean install and even factory reset after installing, same thing
So far, I am not having any issues with Text Messaging.
Well, I just ran into another Marshmallow bug .... I can no longer save my Docs To Go files on my SD card. Error tells me that I do not have permission. I followed the instructions to give permission, but it doesn't work. So, I'm stuck with saving files to the phone first, then I have to copy the files to the SD card. I did not have this issue with Lollipop.
Is there any way to add a mobile data toggle to stock rooted mm? I liked how maximum overdrive has it, but have been having some issues so trying to fully debloat stock now.

to check as to any update for my device driver, but nothing works. . !
Any other solution is more than welcome.

Yes brother its a genuine copy of Windows 8.1 [x64] OS.
That's probably the reason why it was working most of the time tho, switch to Ubuntu and gg problem slowed.

Brother, I faced this issue on both the CM-11 ( currently installed on my phone) and when I was initially on MiUi v6.4.2.0[KHIMICB] , the issue was on that ROM too.
Doesn't understand why such happens frequently with me.
Highly pissed off.
Regards.
I have miui and not cm. This problem occured about a month after using the phone, so I got suspicions that the phone itself was responsible for this. Particularly I used to "dirty" flash each miui developer rom in the top of the previous, and just do a wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache before. So I decided to move to a miui stable version with clean install. Did a full wipe, cleaned everything and installed rom. After that everything worked just fine with every windows pc and laptop I've tried.

I understand this brother. Though i never developed any ROM or such thing myself, but i have been tinkering with almost every device i ever got my hands laid on.
Its in my habit to do a full clean swipe of everything be it system wipe, cache, dalvik cache basically everything which a developer says to do before installing a new ROM on the device.
I have been doing it from the start, but still got this issue.
I did a clean install [twice] of MiUi ROM[Stable] but still this issue came in like every 10-20 days. So , recently i have switched to a custom ROM , CM-11 as i mentioned.
For now i am using an alternate to transfer content between the two devices, and waiting for someone from the developers end to help me out.
Lets see when do i get a stable solution for this never-ending issue.
Regards.

Hi, everyone I have recently did Custom ROM CM 12.1 Lollipop 5.1.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini I9192. So for complete steps how to do it, Follow the Steps -
Strictly for I9192 Devices
Be noticed that it will void your warranty and your device may get brick during process. Also keep your battery fully charged before doing anything. I am just showing you things to do, in any odd situation YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for damage.
For all the steps below use genuine USB cable comes with your device.
Start By Installing Phillz Recovery on your device. Here it is how
Download philz_touch_6.48.4-serranodsub_AndroidTunado.tar and Odin
When your phone is full charged, turn it off.
Enter Download Mode by pressing HOME + VOLUME DOWN + POWER KEY.
When download screen will appear open Odin and connect your phone to computer with USB Cable.
You will see your device detected as "COM:*". In Odin, do not change any checkbox settings and click PDA or AP (whatever available) and choose Phillz recovery "philz_touch_6.48.4-serranodsub_AndroidTunado.tar" file.
After choosing file, click Start Button to begin downloading in phone.
Your phone will reboot automatically and Phillz Recovery willl be succesfully installed.
So we are done with custom recovery. Next step is to install CM 12.1 . Again charge your battery if you lose any during Phillz Recovery. For download CM 12.1 and Gapps follow this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-0-s4-mini-duos-gt-t2950526 (Big thanks to @k2wl).
After downloading, paste both .zip files to SDCARD. I recommend to paste both in internal and external memory in case.
Before installing ROM must do a backup of your device, install Nandroid or Titanium Backup from Google Play and get a full backup of your system and data. You need almost 4GB of space in external SDCARD to do so. Don't miss the backup as it will be only way to get you back on working phone if any failure occur. (Copy on computer as well to get secured)
So we are ready to install CM 12.1 yay! (Unlpug USB Cable if connected)
Boot your device into Recovery Mode by pressing HOME + VOLUME UP + LOCK BUTTON
From there wipe the system and clear cache: “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
From main menu of recovery select “install zip from SD card” and “choose zip from SD card”.
Pick the cm-12.1-20XXXXXX-UNOFFICIAL-serranodsdd.zip file from SDCARD and install it.
When completed, DON'T EXIT/REBOOT, press again install zip from SD Card and choose gapps zip and install it.
When done Reboot your device.
There it come cynogenmod icon on bootup of your OS. Congrats CM 12.1 is installed. You can go to setttings and see version 5.1.1 of android working!
Don't forget to follow changelog of ROM for new nightly infos: http://www.cmxlog.com/12.1/serrano3gxx/#next_build
So follow rest if you want SuperUser in your device. Please note if you don't want superuser and yet Root access you have inbuilt in ROM at Settings >Developer Options > Root. Only follow below if you want SuperUser Application to have control over root access.
Download SuperSU-v2.46.zip file (from attachments) and put in your SD Card.
Again bootup in recovery mode HOME + VOLUME UP + LOCK
Choose "Install Zip from SD Card" and choose SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Install the package
When done reboot the device and you have SuperUser installed

Enjoy CM 12.1 with phillz recovery and ROOTED. Keep in mind its just a tutorial. I take no responsibility of ROM or softwares attached. For your info, everything went perfect for me on my I9192. Let me know how your experience went!
Special Thanks to

hi, thanks for the post.
even for me, everything went perfect with the installation.
any further updates with your user experience, so far? hows the battery backup ?
ROM Performance as CM12.1 Nightly 3 July
ROM is almost stable and you may not have any trouble with general usage. Calling, Messaging, Wifi, Bluetooth, Radio almost everything is working. Camera quality is same as on stock and with same upto Full HD Recording. UI is more faster (thanks to no bloatware) and new settings for many new lollipop features and developer options. Battery life is same as stock (Falls to 20% after 3h 52min Screen Uptime with moderate usage with games and music playback). I haven't find any difference in battery yet using for 10 days. What I find is needed to improve or buggy are following
Random Force Closes - Few Apps (not all) get closed automatically. I often use a music player (debug version as I am developing it) which automatically closes after some time. (Maybe force close only for debug or non play-store apps, not sure, let me know about your experience) (Seems solved in newer update)
Games are not as fast as Stock Samsung - Heavy games like Asphalt 8 loses frames which is not with stock ROM. Sometimes Clash of Clans too behave a little laggy (once in hundred times).
Earpiece Speaker - I don't know if their is problem in my network provider or phone but 1 in 10 calls I can't hear anything what other person is speaking while connecting headphones give response and normal sound of caller. Tell me if it's same with you or I got problem at connection ?!?!?! Really annoying. (Most probably working 100% in new update as told by @roshanu)
Issues are being detected by @k2wl and improvement is going on everyday. You can upgrade to newer ROM when any comes out.
This post may get outdated anytime when ROM will be improved. To know what are changes in new nightlies, follow ROM Download Link > Changelog
Tell me what are new issues or if any old issues get resolved. Thanks everyone
Thanks to @roshanu for reminding of this post.
I am on July 10 version, installed using CWM recovery. Been two days now. Pretty basic use: no gaming no music.
ROM is stable so far, no force closes.
+1 on the light sensor.
Haven't had any problem with the earpiece speaker.
It seems root access was getting disabled on reboot, not sure. Also there was no SU app after the installation.
So I enabled the root for apps and adb through developer options, then installed the SU app through Play. Working fine now.
Will update new findings, if any...
Do you know if 4G LTE can be enabled on our phone i9192, or even future possibility ??

It's good that developers are working on ROM and issues are solved pretty fast. For SU app you have to flash the SU zip file (in attachments) in download mode (by pressing [Volume Down] + [Home] + [Lock]). And sadly 4G LTE depends on chipset and hardware, not on software, so it can never be more than HSPA+ in any update. Do post any issues or any new improvement, it may help developers
Hello, I have an old NOTE 4, ive had it since release date but ive started to get issues, its only happened in the past month, ill explain every single thing that is happening below.
1. When switching from apps sometimes it will take so long to open the app and during this time i literally cannot do anything, cannot open the app drawer to force close apps, cannot slide from the top to see the notification bar, after a 30seconds it will lock the phone screen (The time i have the timeout on i suppose) and then i cannot even open the lock screen nothing literally works, maybe after a minute or two it will finally let me. Sometimes a battery pull is needed.
2. When typing it will lag and do the same thing above with the freezing, and even during these processes once the screen goes black (sometimes i can still see the notification bar) the phone will completely restart itself on its own.
3. Just other general slow downs.
Here are the steps I have done to try and solve it (still no luck)
1. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache through TWRP.
2. Uninstalled apps and cleared out files
3. Installed an antivirus software and run tests.
4. Formatted SD Card (Removed it as well)
5. Completely formatted the whole phone (Every single bit of data (selected all options in TWRP except SD Card) so it says no OS has been installed.
6. Installed the latest stock firmware through samsung kies.
All of the issues are still happening, whether i root it or not, it will do the same. Im out of ideas and have no idea what to do. Its becoming so annoying having to constantly pull out the battery and what not.
Hmm I don't know what to say as you have already done a complete wipe! But I don't understand how you flashed the firmware through Kies though! Doesn't than need an already working phone with a ROM already installed? Don't know, have not used it for long time.
Just try to flash the stock firmware via Odin once, see if that makes any difference, after a complete wipe of course. And please don't use any anti virus, that's not needed at all.

Sounds like something is seriously off with your phone and that it needs to be repaired.

Hey Guys,
first of all, I am quite new to this whole root and custom rom/kernel thing. Even though I rooted and installed CM on my nexus 4, there’s a whole lot of things I don’t know about..
But here’s the thing:
I am currently using a OP2 and had a lot of trouble with it in the last couple of weeks. The display was flickering so I got it repaired. Pretty soon after I got it back, I installed the Oxygen OS 3.0 beta version and from this point of time battery life started to get so bad I could not believe it (2h of SOT max..).
So I decided to give this whole root thing a try again. Everything went fine and I installed CM13 along with the boeffla kernel. So I thought that’s it, battery life must be great again! However something was terribly wrong and the battery was draining so fast that I got a max. SOT of 20 minutes.
I tried a few different ROMs and Kernels but nothing of that got me over 2hrs of SOT.
Right now I am back on OOS 2.2.1 with the boeffla kernel which gives me again, 2hrs of SOT as a maximum. (and I reduces the power of the processor already)
I don’t know what do anymore, whenever I installed a new rom I did a clean flash (fyi).
Does anyone know what else I can do? Or does anyone have the same issue? I guess I gotta sell the phone if there’s no solution..
Thanks in advance guys, screenshots are attached.
And I know that there's been a couple posts about the battery life, but everytime I read, that a downgrade to OOS 2.2.1 improves battery life again, which in my case didn't.

Hey Guys,
first of all, I am quite new to this whole root and custom rom/kernel thing. Even though I rooted and installed CM on my nexus 4, there’s a whole lot of things I don’t know about..

Try this: first go to playstore and download battery calibrator (green android icon). Download any app which can make an app backup. Then backup the battery calibrator app.
Then download latest Snapshot of cm13 from the official website of cyanogen and supersu (2.68 upwards minimum)
Then go to twrp recovery (you should have installed the latest one. If you are not sure if you have the latest then look it up at twrp website)
After that....
In recovery wipe system, data(this will erase all of your apps and their data, however it wont touch your internal storage (music, videos).
Now flash ONLY the cm13 snapshot + SuperSu. NOT ANY GAPPS OR ANY OTHER MODS.
then reboot. Let android optimize and set up your phone. But do not download any apps or something like this. Only Setup. Then install the backed up battery calibrator. Go to the app and ONLY give it root permissions. Then end the app.
Now let your phone charge till 100%. Do not use it in that time!
If it reaches 100% then do NOT unplug it. First start the app battery calibrator and click on calibrate. Then unplug.
After that set your display brightness to 100% (disable auto brightness and adaptive brightness) then use your phone. For example you could open youtube in your browser. Then look as much videos/music as you can. When your phone has only 1 or 2% battery left... Go to settings, battery and make a screenshot of the apps which are listed there. Make a Screenshot of your display (Screen on time). And upload it here. Then we analyse the problem together if it still persists.
Good luck[emoji16]

Hi! First of all thanks for your fast and detailed reply
Because this is gonna take a few hours (hopefully more than 4 ) I will try this on Friday.
I am not running the newest version of TRWP because I had to flash the "old" OOS 2.2.1 and this only worked with TWRP 2.8.7.0 or 2.8.6.0 ( I guess) but I know to update this one.
The other thing I am asking myself, is it possible to immediately flash the CM13 rom or do I have to install OOS 3.0 first again? I read something about a different Bootloader (I gotta be honest I am not 100% sure what this is for).
I also thought about wiping the internal storage as well, or do you think this is useless?
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions I appreciate your effort and I will definitely try this as soon as I can. Do you think this is gonna work?
OOS 3.0 Beta battery life aint great, I went back to 2.2.1 (stock ROM) and after 2 full cycles my battery life is great, am getting 5 to 6 hrs SOT, phone is rooted, and have TWRP 2.8.7.0 installed with SuperSU. When you go to settings>Battery what apps/processes are at the top of the list?

Does anyone have any ideas on what's going on and how I can resolve it? I've tried a whack of stuff like turning off location sharing, removing apps that might sync that I don't use, changing sync settings, etc. I can't figure out what the problem is and it's driving me crazy!
Thanks!
To be sure it's not the hardware I would completely fastboot flash latest stock image with complete wiping internal too.
Use it for a day without magisk modules and a bunch of apps to see if the draining still exist. And if you should use a magnetic charger adapter, don't use it, it's a deep sleep brake and drainer.

Clean flash, may it helps, otherwise it might be a hardware issue.

I flash stock. Deep sleep not woking.
Edit : recovery eror red : rec error on uevent how to fix?
Thx you support . :fingers-crossed:
Which twrp version ? Older one ? Then ignore the error.
May you try to figure out what prevents deep sleep for you. Wakelock detector app for example. Did you really completely clean flash stock without any additions, no root, no twrp, no apps ? to check if deep sleep works on pure stock.

Go for latest official twrp, cosmic is only for treble necessary.
For drain, I don't know, check wakelocks, provide a log and hope someone can help you with it, clean USB port, format internal storage and reflash stock. I'm sry.

I will trying.
Report form you complete. Thx mate support. Have a nice day.??
I flash ROM stock via fastboot clean all.
No recovery , no root. Pure stock.
Deep sleep not work? ???
Did you fix this issue?? I am facing the same problem.
I have had this problem for a year now. My phone is affected by the 700000.ssusb wakelock which prevents Deep Sleep. I did try rooting my phone and installed Lineage 16 with Canting kernel which used to occasionally solve this issue but not during all charging cycles. Many Mi A1 users are affected by the CPU stuck at 652 MHz frequency issue which leads me to believe that it might be due to a hardware issue.

Didn't people conclude that this issue was related to hardware liquid damage ? (more specifically, I remember seeing people saying this was a result of letting water inside the charging port).

I'm not sure that was conclusive. I have read posts in other threads saying that changing the ports made no improvements in battery life. I've also read posts saying that the wakelock problem disappeared on its own within few weeks.
