Does anyone have any ideas on what's going on and how I can resolve it? I've tried a whack of stuff like turning off location sharing, removing apps that might sync that I don't use, changing sync settings, etc. I can't figure out what the problem is and it's driving me crazy!
Thanks!
To be sure it's not the hardware I would completely fastboot flash latest stock image with complete wiping internal too.
Use it for a day without magisk modules and a bunch of apps to see if the draining still exist. And if you should use a magnetic charger adapter, don't use it, it's a deep sleep brake and drainer.

I flash stock. Deep sleep not woking.
Edit : recovery eror red : rec error on uevent how to fix?
Thx you support . :fingers-crossed:
Which twrp version ? Older one ? Then ignore the error.
May you try to figure out what prevents deep sleep for you. Wakelock detector app for example. Did you really completely clean flash stock without any additions, no root, no twrp, no apps ? to check if deep sleep works on pure stock.

Go for latest official twrp, cosmic is only for treble necessary.
For drain, I don't know, check wakelocks, provide a log and hope someone can help you with it, clean USB port, format internal storage and reflash stock. I'm sry.

I flash ROM stock via fastboot clean all.

Deep sleep not work? ???
Did you fix this issue?? I am facing the same problem.
I have had this problem for a year now. My phone is affected by the 700000.ssusb wakelock which prevents Deep Sleep. I did try rooting my phone and installed Lineage 16 with Canting kernel which used to occasionally solve this issue but not during all charging cycles. Many Mi A1 users are affected by the CPU stuck at 652 MHz frequency issue which leads me to believe that it might be due to a hardware issue.

Didn't people conclude that this issue was related to hardware liquid damage ? (more specifically, I remember seeing people saying this was a result of letting water inside the charging port).

I'm not sure that was conclusive. I have read posts in other threads saying that changing the ports made no improvements in battery life. I've also read posts saying that the wakelock problem disappeared on its own within few weeks.

I have done a fresh install, no kernels, no messing with stock performance settings, and lately no Xposed. Disabling Xposed seemed to have no resolve with the issue so I've tried a dirty flash this time to see if it could be something that messed up system files.
Anyone know what might be causing this or be suffering from the same issue?
In addition I tried doing a reflash of the ROM after having determined Xposed is not at fault (issue persists), this is me testing to see if some system files are somehow corrupt and have done something to cause this.
Sept 21
I noticed that the issue commonly occurs while I am in the middle of typing with the keyboard, cleared cache & data of Google Keyboard.
I have installed the latest Nightly in an attempt to fix this, if it is an issue with the M10 Snapshot.
Time since boot: About 4 hours. (Trying to find a correlation).
Issue persisting.. kinda?
The screen flashes the glitch this time, rather than freezing with the screen. So think of using some sort of app or interacting and for a split second the above image, or something similar, appears then reverts to proper rendering. My phone froze not too long after this, I didn't sit and wait to figure out if it was lag or full-freeze.
The display stopped responding though the keys still would re-light after touching the home key. I waited only 10 seconds before pulling the battery, since it wasn't worth the time finding out.
P.S. I have also posted this in the CyanogenMod Builder Thread, so if it looks familiar.. there you go.

did you Wipe completely and then install fresh rom?
1. wipe completely through recovery (cache/dalvik/data)
2. install Fresh (latest nightlies) firmware
> if problem remains after few hours (without any extra customization) it might be the hardware problem... so take it to a services.
:good:
I have done those entirely.
Hello, I have an old NOTE 4, ive had it since release date but ive started to get issues, its only happened in the past month, ill explain every single thing that is happening below.
1. When switching from apps sometimes it will take so long to open the app and during this time i literally cannot do anything, cannot open the app drawer to force close apps, cannot slide from the top to see the notification bar, after a 30seconds it will lock the phone screen (The time i have the timeout on i suppose) and then i cannot even open the lock screen nothing literally works, maybe after a minute or two it will finally let me. Sometimes a battery pull is needed.
2. When typing it will lag and do the same thing above with the freezing, and even during these processes once the screen goes black (sometimes i can still see the notification bar) the phone will completely restart itself on its own.
3. Just other general slow downs.
Here are the steps I have done to try and solve it (still no luck)
1. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache through TWRP.
2. Uninstalled apps and cleared out files
3. Installed an antivirus software and run tests.
4. Formatted SD Card (Removed it as well)
5. Completely formatted the whole phone (Every single bit of data (selected all options in TWRP except SD Card) so it says no OS has been installed.
6. Installed the latest stock firmware through samsung kies.
All of the issues are still happening, whether i root it or not, it will do the same. Im out of ideas and have no idea what to do. Its becoming so annoying having to constantly pull out the battery and what not.
Hmm I don't know what to say as you have already done a complete wipe! But I don't understand how you flashed the firmware through Kies though! Doesn't than need an already working phone with a ROM already installed? Don't know, have not used it for long time.
Just try to flash the stock firmware via Odin once, see if that makes any difference, after a complete wipe of course. And please don't use any anti virus, that's not needed at all.

Did your baseband somehow change. That will cause super serious lag issues and it will not get any better until you reflash modem. Also maybe try a different kernel

How do I find out? And how Can I try a different kernel, I'm not too into the scene to have much knowledge
Hey Guys,
first of all, I am quite new to this whole root and custom rom/kernel thing. Even though I rooted and installed CM on my nexus 4, there’s a whole lot of things I don’t know about..
But here’s the thing:
I am currently using a OP2 and had a lot of trouble with it in the last couple of weeks. The display was flickering so I got it repaired. Pretty soon after I got it back, I installed the Oxygen OS 3.0 beta version and from this point of time battery life started to get so bad I could not believe it (2h of SOT max..).
So I decided to give this whole root thing a try again. Everything went fine and I installed CM13 along with the boeffla kernel. So I thought that’s it, battery life must be great again! However something was terribly wrong and the battery was draining so fast that I got a max. SOT of 20 minutes.
I tried a few different ROMs and Kernels but nothing of that got me over 2hrs of SOT.
Right now I am back on OOS 2.2.1 with the boeffla kernel which gives me again, 2hrs of SOT as a maximum. (and I reduces the power of the processor already)
I don’t know what do anymore, whenever I installed a new rom I did a clean flash (fyi).
Does anyone know what else I can do? Or does anyone have the same issue? I guess I gotta sell the phone if there’s no solution..
Thanks in advance guys, screenshots are attached.
And I know that there's been a couple posts about the battery life, but everytime I read, that a downgrade to OOS 2.2.1 improves battery life again, which in my case didn't.

Try this: first go to playstore and download battery calibrator (green android icon). Download any app which can make an app backup. Then backup the battery calibrator app.
Then download latest Snapshot of cm13 from the official website of cyanogen and supersu (2.68 upwards minimum)
Then go to twrp recovery (you should have installed the latest one. If you are not sure if you have the latest then look it up at twrp website)
After that....
In recovery wipe system, data(this will erase all of your apps and their data, however it wont touch your internal storage (music, videos).
Now flash ONLY the cm13 snapshot + SuperSu. NOT ANY GAPPS OR ANY OTHER MODS.
then reboot. Let android optimize and set up your phone. But do not download any apps or something like this. Only Setup. Then install the backed up battery calibrator. Go to the app and ONLY give it root permissions. Then end the app.
Now let your phone charge till 100%. Do not use it in that time!
If it reaches 100% then do NOT unplug it. First start the app battery calibrator and click on calibrate. Then unplug.
After that set your display brightness to 100% (disable auto brightness and adaptive brightness) then use your phone. For example you could open youtube in your browser. Then look as much videos/music as you can. When your phone has only 1 or 2% battery left... Go to settings, battery and make a screenshot of the apps which are listed there. Make a Screenshot of your display (Screen on time). And upload it here. Then we analyse the problem together if it still persists.

Hi! First of all thanks for your fast and detailed reply
Because this is gonna take a few hours (hopefully more than 4 ) I will try this on Friday.
I am not running the newest version of TRWP because I had to flash the "old" OOS 2.2.1 and this only worked with TWRP 2.8.7.0 or 2.8.6.0 ( I guess) but I know to update this one.
The other thing I am asking myself, is it possible to immediately flash the CM13 rom or do I have to install OOS 3.0 first again? I read something about a different Bootloader (I gotta be honest I am not 100% sure what this is for).
I also thought about wiping the internal storage as well, or do you think this is useless?
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions I appreciate your effort and I will definitely try this as soon as I can. Do you think this is gonna work?
OOS 3.0 Beta battery life aint great, I went back to 2.2.1 (stock ROM) and after 2 full cycles my battery life is great, am getting 5 to 6 hrs SOT, phone is rooted, and have TWRP 2.8.7.0 installed with SuperSU. When you go to settings>Battery what apps/processes are at the top of the list?

I had random reboots, lags, and app freezing. Had to factory reset and all is good. It's been about a week.

It is 100% caused by not doing a clean update / install.
Would a Factory Reset fix the excessive battery drain issue ?
I just updated and the only issue I'm having is reaaaallly slow LTE. It's painfully slow. I've tested it several times and its not even going over 1Mbps sometimes it jumpa a bit more but it always goes down.
Any ideas what that could be?
My T-Mobile Internet connection has always been very slow. Charter WiFi at home is great. Here is an image showing my Internet connection on my Note 4:

A lot of my problems came from restoring apps from old versions. After some digging, it turns out I was carrying old Titanium backups from 3 different phones. Cleared the old/ non-compatible apps and no problems since.

Ideally its best to at least factory restore wipe.
However, I personally always do the following on new ROMs and new Android versions.
-Backup things you want from your internal storage
-Make sure you have a Tar of the version you want. (and Odin of course)
-Flash TWRP if you don't already have it flashed
-Boot into TWRP
-Wipe System, Data, Internal Storage, Dalvik, and Cache
(once you do this your phone wont boot as there is no OS installed on the phone)
-Boot into Download
-Use Odin to flash the Stock FW tar file you want.
Doing this method will ensure you have a 100% clean install of the new Android version and/or ROMS
It can be a pain to do all this because you have to set everything back up.
However, I have seen this resolve so many problems at this point I personally feel this is a must.
Too many people are out there saying A Rom, a new Kernel, or a new version of Stock has this problem or that problem with out actually going clean stock. Have some problems with MM, a ROM, or a Kernel?
Do this!
Well, I finally gave in and did the Factory Reset. I need to charage my Note 4 up to 100% and see how many hours I get from my ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery now .....
Still have the issue with Default apps settings ......

I followed this step-by-step down to the letter and have not been able to solve the problem of apps losing their updates after reboot. I've actually tried this twice already and I'm now in the process of downgrading to 5.1.1.

Something isn't right here.
It is in your best interest to find out what went wrong.
It seems that 5.1.1 and below is known be conceptually a horrible version of Android (at least for our phone).
The several things including memory management have vastly improved on MM.

Lollipop was much better on my Note 4. Although my Note 4 still had problems with excess battery drain, but I could still put my Note 4 through constant heavy use for over 14 hours and come home with battery power still remaining.
My Note 3 does much better with battery management. I have the same ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery in both Note 3 and Note 4. I have been using the ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery in my Note 3 for more than two years, and still get much better battery life than my Note 4 with a brand new ZeroLemon 10000mAh battery.
I tried using the stock battery in my Note 4, and only got 4 1/2 hours, but would have gotten much less if I had been out gaming at night. Probably would have gotten only 2 or 2 1/2 hours.
I might take my Note 4 to Best Buy and have them do a Software Reflash ..... If the Note 7 had a removable battery, I would definitely get the Note 7.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones who did a dirty update with no bugs
Interesting ..... With each update some people have serious issues, some people only have minor issues, and some people even claim they have no issues.
For me, Lollipop was good, but the most stable was KitKat. My Note 3 is still at Lollipop 5.0, with only minor issues. Great battery life with my Note 3. Battery life is seriously damaged on my Note 4. If I do not get an update that fixes this issue, I will be forced to buy a different smartphone that has a removable battery, and compatible with ZeroLemon 10000mAh extended battery .....
my biggest issue with marshmallow is that everytime i send texts, my phone lags really bad. everything else works perfectly, but the stock messaging app lags when i'm sending texts even if it's just 1 regular text. it also lags when i'm receiving a lot. no issue with this from lollipop. clean install and even factory reset after installing, same thing
So far, I am not having any issues with Text Messaging.
Well, I just ran into another Marshmallow bug .... I can no longer save my Docs To Go files on my SD card. Error tells me that I do not have permission. I followed the instructions to give permission, but it doesn't work. So, I'm stuck with saving files to the phone first, then I have to copy the files to the SD card. I did not have this issue with Lollipop.
Is there any way to add a mobile data toggle to stock rooted mm? I liked how maximum overdrive has it, but have been having some issues so trying to fully debloat stock now.
I was able to use Wi-Fi with Airplane mode in the past. But now suddenly it doesn't let me?
I toggle airplane mode, then enable wifi in settings. Then get the toast notification "In Airplane mode"
Any fixes?

You sure about being able to use Wifi with airplane mode enabled previously?

Yes, I have screenshots with it working too. I find this quite weird.
Edit: Going to downgrade my purenexus version and see if the issues persist

Yeah it actually works for me, just checked. I'm also on Pure Nexus but the 0803 build (not the most recent 0821 build).

It's worth a try if it's something you need to work.

Well, I got Google play working. But for some reason wifi does not want to toggle while on airplane mode anymore.
Do you perhaps know of a way to force toggle WiFi?
Another edit: I found a solution! Under /data/data/com.android.settings/databases/settings.db, airplane_mode_radios in the global part. The wifi toggle got disabled. And since I only wiped System, Dalvik cache, and other cache. And reflashed vendor and not the data partition. The random change was not fixed. That took well over 5 hours to fix. A experience I learned from at least!

Have you tried putting your phone into AP mode then tap wifi from drop down menu. I just tried it and it works

Am on LP 5.1 here on G4 H81010o, and 4.4.2 CloudyG3 on G2, both can use WiFi in airplane mode.

Reviving this thread with the solution, which is really a simple solution
My issue is that I was re-dirty flashing my PureNexus ROM. And I restored contacts data. And that data ended up being the issue. I cleared the data for the app, but it persisted. So I did a quick data wipe - I uninstalled almost all of my apps because I'm cutting down on apps. - after writing down important contacts. And to my pleasure. It worked! I re-entered the contacts and did a more recent backup of contacts and restored that backup just to test. And everything is working fine.
PS: I didn't try a data wipe first because I was going somewhere with poor signal and no wi-fi and ran out of time when troubleshooting.
TLDR: Always try a clean flash if all else fails.
Edit: I found that my settings.db data was corrupted as well from a f-sync disabled caused data loss. And that is what caused the Airplane mode not working with Wi-Fi issue. Always try a clean flash and backup important data every so often!
