Is there a way to fix sudden signal drops? Sometimes the signal bar is completely empty just to be almost full a second later. Appears to be random? Is this a known bug?

It might be a bug in your Rom or due to Signal problem in your area.

Was the same on stock

After 48 hours of usage, gsm signal dropped and returned randomly.
Tried switching 3g/2g, turning flight mode off and on.
Checked battery usage "cell standby" consumed the most of the battery. Strange "100% without signal appeared"
Rebooted the phone by switching it off completely and on. And... It's flawless again. Perfect hsdpa speeds.
Looks like serious software bug to me in latest XEU ROM or radio software.

Anyone else?

This is what suppose to happen.
Cell Standby and phone idle will show most battery consumption when phone is idling most of the time. Basically thats the nominal amount that phone will need just to stay powered up.
This is normal.

100% time without signal and loosing gsm signal all the time are not normal.
It, wasn't a network problem. Everything happened at the same location.
Only full reboot helped.

No, thats not normal, but in absence of the signal, its normal for those two to show most usage.
Your phone might have failed registration on your network for some odd reason. If it does not happen too often there is nothing to worry about.

Agreed. It wasn't able to register to network again until rebooted.

It happened again after 24 hours.
Lost cell connection. Nothing helped. The only way is to reboot.
100% without signal is known bug in ginger bread.
"100% without gsm signal" means no signal at all or wcdma signal instead of gsm signal all the time.

Did you fix it?
I got the same problem
Are any of you using one of the XXKGx Android 2.3.4 firmwares?
If so, try installing an older modem file; that may fix the problem
For everyone with the 100% w/o signal
Please share this.
Go to settings>About Phone>status....and then go back.
Check the stats afterwards, you'll see the counter decreasing.
it's not a serious bug. it's just a log bug.
Hi,
I've fixed this problem changing a mainboard in the maintenance assistance and upgrade the firmware as well

Hi guys,
My nexus 4 drops my signal every 10-15 seconds, the signal coverage 80 percent of the time remains showing full signal/3G etc but data drops constantly.
I have tried stock and custom rooms with little effect, my network provider blames the phone. I haven't had a chance to test it on another network but before I do was hoping to see if others may have experienced the same!
Below are some screenshots from a signal monitor.

Same problem for me

Hmm, what ROM are you using? What country? There must be a cause or just a hardware issue?

Flash stock kernel. It will fix the signal drop for few sec.

The stock kernel will fix it you say? Surely that is was I had originally? Or is it something different?

Doesn't seem to have made any difference. Can anyone suggest anything else?
Interesting, mine started with this yesterday once I upgraded my rom to a newer version.

What was your old ROM? I may try it as I am clutching at straws here. Radio, music, youtube... anything that requires data streaming just buffers every 10 seconds for 1-5 seconds. It is frustrating to say the least!
Stock Kernel didn't let my phone boot, Franco Kernel seemed to make it worse! I don't get what the issue is

Im using Paranoid Android with an older radio for LTE but the newest update seems to be when my signal went funny somewhat. I am on the .33 radio with matrix kernel right now but my phone signal seems to be lower than it was in many areas after the July 22nd update. Could be coincidental.
anyone having trouble with 3g reception, my phone seems to turn off the radio entirely every few minutes, it's either full bars and decent 3g or nothing at all, just no network messages

Are you on stock or custom? I usually just flash the most up to date radio when I have problems like that

both stock and custom (namelessrom) i havent been able to leave base much (USAF) so it might be some sort of interference from something here, but my old phone had no problem getting signal here (galaxy s2)
It seems as if anytime someone texts me, and there is a message being sent at the same time, the sent message fails and i have to hit retry on it. Im not sure if this happens on stock roms, but definitely happens on custom roms. Is there anyway to fix this?

Me too. I thought it was a radio issue because my signal at home sucks. I just sold my MDK S4 and bought the N3 and the signal difference at home is very noticeable.

My note 3's signal is also atrocious, much worse than my thunderbolt and note 2 were in the same location. I can barely get a signal from my home. My service also seems to be even worse with wifi on. I am actually just about to make a thread to discuss these issues

I hope so. I just made a thread showing how it is possibly a software issue, at least in my case:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678455
As the title says, I can't get any signal whatsoever on miui or aosp ROMs whatsoever. The only custom ROM I actually do get signal on is cloudy but I'm a bit of a flashaholic.
I've tried to flash the baseband for KK D802 hoping that would fix it but it didn't. Any ideas?
CyanogenMod has never been too accurate when reporting signal strength. Even though you'll have 4 bars on stock KK, you'll only have 1-2 bars on CyanogenMod or other AOSP based ROMs when in reality your signal is much stronger. Unless you mean you literally have no signal at all than don't worry about it.

No signal whatsoever. Tried to find networks manually in settings but it doesn't even search.

maybe you have damaged the file efs?
Do you have the correct APN settings for your carrier? If they are incorrect you will not get 4G, but I've never heard of not getting any signal due to incorrect APN settings.
Exactly, I'm not too worried about the 4g I'm just not getting anything on those roms.
