anyone having trouble with 3g reception, my phone seems to turn off the radio entirely every few minutes, it's either full bars and decent 3g or nothing at all, just no network messages

Are you on stock or custom? I usually just flash the most up to date radio when I have problems like that

Be careful with radio updates, but I would try the latest t-mobile OTA kernel if you haven't already (and assuming you're on t-mobile in the US)

Switch the icons to 2G/4G and you won't have any problems.

I just downloaded the first zip and also flashed it but idk it hasn't installed properly I c sill the 3g and H changing constantly and not been steady
That's cuz if your in a service area with H coverage the device will switch to H when you need data, it will idle on 3G since H would devour the battery. Its normal what your seeing bro.

Just making a quick thread to let people know regarding radio N.01.100.00R. I flashed it today on a AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G which was previously on N.01.77.36P. I am using the phone on Orange and its actually improved my signal quality and GPRS speed too. I flashed it through CWM recovery.
i'm currently on N_01.95.00R and have not been impressed with signal strength.
wonder if it will make that much difference going to 01.100.00R?

Try the one I am using its giving me pretty good signal tbh.. It does not cut-off as often as it used it because Orange is quite rubbish in my area.
That's the same radio I've been using for a while. Also allows you to drop down to 2G (EDGE) which improves battery life.

My Nexus 4 is constantly losing signal as seen in this video. I'm on my second Nexus4 (replacement device) and I'm still experiencing the same trouble.
I wouldn't be concerned if it just lost a couple of bars, but it always jumps to NO bars.
Please help!
Thanks

It could be your carrier. Did this happen on your old phone?

No I've never had a problem with my other phones. This happens everywhere with my Nexus 4, even when I know I'm in an area with a good signal.

I rooted and installed stock 4.2.2. The device came with 4.2.1 and was experiencing the same issue.
I just logged a ticket with Telus but I'm not sure if that's going to do anything.

This happened on my first nexus 4. Nothing fixed it. Nothing. Hopefully your situation is different. If nothing works, flash back to stock and start the RMA process. Google said it was a hardware failure with mine by the way.

The periodic loss of signal was there since day. I still have it on my new one. Others do as well, but one day it went out and never came back on. I believe it was a different issue than just random signal loss. Google said hardware failed in it. You have to contact Google to start an RMA. I'm also not implying that your signal won't come back on at some time either. Personally I would flash everything back to stock. Go to a t mobile store and get a new Sim card and if no signal still then contact Google

Under settings, then data, then mobile networks, then to network operators.
let it search, even if it doesn't find anything or errors.
Then click choose automatically.
If you frequently travel out of 3g/H areas, you need that checked or the phone won't roam from tower to tower. you will get no signal.
Also, if that don't work, you can try clicking on a network it finds, and let it register, your signal may come back.
This is a common problem with those that don't live in big cities or near full strength 3g/h areas.
The phone doesn't handle tower handoffs well. Crappy LG modems.

I'm currently going through the RMA process over virtually the exact same issue. However, I've been running franco's nightlies lately and up until he restored the HSIC/wifi stuff to stock in r154 I was actually experiencing less data drops and rapid tower swapping (constantly going from 3g to H and back rendering consistent data inoperable). *shrug* I feel as if it's something in the hardware on the cusp of failing because sometimes it does it more and sometimes it does it less. It's rather weird. I'm also on T-mobile towers through an MVNO (Straight Talk).
I just cancelled and switched to ATT go phone.
I have RMA'd 2 devices, tried multpie new simcards, relflashed, tried new radios, and nothing worked.
It no longer switches from 3g to H on ATT network.
It stays in H constantly.
Also, no more signal drops or loss of signal.
I have 100% signal all the time now.
The data is a little more expensive, but worth it for the coverage so far.
It's not your phone, it's the tmobile network.
Hi, I've had my nexus 4 for about a month now, when I got the phone I automatically updated to 4.3.
Since the very first day I've had it, it has kept dropping internet connection randomly multiple times everyday? The signal bars will go from blue to grey and stay like that until I either reboot the phone or turn on airplane mode then turn back off again.
Its becoming a constant hassle trying to use the internet because it keeps hanging.
Has anyone else come across this problem? If so what did you do to fix it?
Thanks alot

Do you mean WiFi or carrier data? And how good is your carrier signal? You can try flashing a different baseband.
For WiFi, try turning off Wifi Optimization.
Its the carrier data that keeps dropping, I also get full bars most of the time.

Its surely a baseband problem..nothing to worry..
Just try different basebands and test them and see what works for you,but for that you need to be rooted..
Before you asking or creating a new thread refer to efrants thread for unlocking and rooting.:good:
