Set sleep time - Fire TV General

I finally found a way to set a time for the fire tv to sleep as opposed to hard set 20 minutes that you can't change in the settings. It was really annoying that you can't change this because I like to have a photo screensaver and no matter what the fire tv goes to sleep after 20 minutes. I'm not sure why amazon doesn't let you change this. Anywho, random google search and I found this. I thought it would be helpful...
It doesn't say it, but go into
./adb shell to change the values

[Q] Weather App Question

I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my netbook last night to see exactly how well the performance is on a low level machine. Loving it thus far, after doing the regedit to allow me to run metro apps. Through configuring everything the way I wanted it, I stumbled upon a problem. I cannot change my default home location within the default Weather app. Does anyone know a trick to changing that? I tried a little google-fu, but had no luck.

Hmmm, usually it asks me on first use what my location is...you may need to pull up the options/settings menu in the app...then, click "places" and enter your location there. If you have already tried this I'll try some other options and let you know...
Btw, how do you like win8?
I have been unable to try the suggested steps as of yet. Life's been slightly hectic the past day or so. I'll try that out tonight.
So far, I love Windows 8. I am running it on my netbook currently, but I am planning on throwing it on my main rig in a dual boot environment to see how the 64 bit version handles anything I can throw at it, since I really don't do much when I am using my netbook outside of IE. I see a lot of people complaining about the Metro UI. I personally love it. I have to say, though, I have been on Windows Phone 7 since early last year. Speaking of, I have high hopes for the integration between the two platforms based on what I have seen so far.
Right click in the weather app and something should come up. I'm not at my computer right now so I don't know what exactly

[Q] LED device control path

Hey guys, I want to use Tasker to make some LED fades and stuff, but unfortunately the default "LED" controller won't accept variables from a FOR loop.
SO, I decided to "run a script" (command), which was going to be something like "echo 225 > /etc/devices/virtual/sec/led/led_r"
As it turns out, I was reading a tutorial for the Galaxy 4 or something and, as my luck would have it, no such similar directory exists on my Nexus 4.
Can anyone point me to the file I'm looking for to set the brightness of the RGB LED? (or of course another way to script it in Tasker )
[Nexus 4, 4.2.2 stock -> rooted]
Thanks in advance!

Thanks, sorry. I figured I couldn't go too wrong posting in a "general" forum
And yes, apparently I'm not new. I went to register the other day to post this question, and it said my username was taken, so I tried it with my (ex) typical password and voila!
Well after an entire night of setting up a development VM with the Android SDK etc and building an app to set the LED color (which would respond to Tasker scripts), I loaded the code onto my device.
However since I didn't have a launcher icon (it was supposed to be more of a GUIless command line interface kinda thing), I couldn't find it on my phone's file system to run it. Derp.
As I was searching for it I came across /sys/class/leds/(blue|green|red)/brightness. Echoing a 0-255 to this file adjusts my LEDs. A lot of work to find those files!
Cheers all

It works tomtom go?
Again no detailed change log. Incredible.
I'd keep away until a few people have tried this.....
Beta release? Don't think I'd risk this on the head unit and end up without a working unit until they actually fix it.... "Fix some bugs" seems to be the extent of most of their change logs... hehe
someone guinea pig it
Looking forward to someone having the balls to flash this.
As a side note...why is everyone so excited about Android 6 on this unit...I don't see any features that would even make me update.

USB debugging was enabled.
It looks like they missed persist.adb.tcp.port=5555 in the properties. It can be enabled by the following:
1) download a terminal program ( Terminal Emulator for Android )
2) enter the following command: setprop persist.adb.tcp.port 5555
3) reboot
I just, installed supersu and seems to be working

That's a great point, and it is really... sad? stupid? FREAKING RETARDED!!!! that they would bother wasting time to build 6.0 so long after 7.0 (and 7.1 even!!!) are already available.
7.x of course, adds in split screen mode, which would be a GREAT benefit to car radios.
There is one thing, however, that could make the 6.0 build good, especially an early or beta build... they've had less time to destroy it than they've had to destroy 5.x. So its probably a faster, more stable, and more respectful build than what we've previously seen.

Yeah split screen might be useful...otherwise it just runs navigation/music/videos in cars mostly...which any version of Android can do.

Are there any noticeable changes so far?
So how's the update?
Is it faster/slower than android 5?
Did you find some bugs?

All the apps are still the same. Not seeing much difference, other than in the settings. So far, it seems fast and stable.
Sofia-1-C9-Server-V1.0.apk looks the same ( and still kills everything on standby). Hope to have time to remove the app killer and add the other mods over the weekend.

Is the notifications bar still broken ? (white text and buttions on white bar)
And the most important question, any changes regarding the Bluetooth module? Does it still cover the screen during calls without the ability to minimize?

Based on what @gustden said, it looks like all the apps are the same so I would assume that issue is still present.

NST Screen Saver Frequency Setting?

I've successfully rooter my Nook Simple Touch and explored all of its files and databases that I can find. But I cannot locate the setting to change that will update the frequency at which the screen saver changes images.
My goal is to have a folder of image files that change every 30 seconds or so. Unfortunately, the stock screen saver's change timer is much longer than that.
As a workaround, I set the screen saver activation time to 500 hours and installed Perfect Viewer to run its slideshow function, but this is less than ideal. I'd rather just do it the right way.
Does anyone know where this setting is located?
Thanks!

OK, so I have to admit I didn't even know this happened. It's been a long time since I used a folder of images for a screensaver. What I seem to recall from that time was the images changing each time the NST went to sleep, but not during sleep.
Let me take a look. I guess one possible approach would be to consult a logcat after an image change and see if there are clues there.
I've come up empty on a search through the various B&N app databases and settings files.
Just to see this actually happen, I changed my screensaver from a static book cover image to one of the packages of images I installed years back. That was nearly 24 hours ago and there is still no change, which is what my memory told me to expect. So without an automatic change, there is nothing to look at in the logcat.
Are you sure your images actually change by themselves during the standby/sleep process? I know they change when you wake up the device and then let it fall asleep again.
You've already tried the slideshow idea or I would suggest that, but did you know there is a built-in slideshow (probably associated with the demo mode)? I don't know what the parameters of that are or whether you could replace the images with your own without breaking it.
Maybe a better question to help me understand what you'd like to do is: will the NST be used for something other than the slideshow display (either running in the background or running on demand when the device is awakened)? If all you want is the slideshow then any number of apps (like the PerfectViewer you mention) would work. Maybe something simple if you just need the slideshow. But if you really are using the device for other things and just want the sleep screen to change periodically, that's either got to be supported in the settings in an accessible way (which I'm doubtful about) or it has to be a custom alteration of the OS.

hd 10 de-selects live wallpaper when waking from standby

so..the thread title really says it all, but here's the full rundown.
after some putzing about with my samsung tablet I came across this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.wallpaperChanger&hl=en and decided to give it a shot on the fire 10...surprise surprise it can force the wallpaper to the resolution its SUPPOSED to be at.
problem is..when I bring it outta standby..its de-selected the live wallpaper, and reselected my previous static wallpaper.
(note..the entire purpose of having this app is to eliminate the 'zoomed in blurr crap' routine amazon likes so much.)
how do I get it to STOP doing that?

Amazon Photos is the suspected issue. If you have a PC? Try to disable it by executing adb shell disable-user com.amazon.photos
