so..the thread title really says it all, but here's the full rundown.
after some putzing about with my samsung tablet I came across this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.wallpaperChanger&hl=en and decided to give it a shot on the fire 10...surprise surprise it can force the wallpaper to the resolution its SUPPOSED to be at.
problem is..when I bring it outta standby..its de-selected the live wallpaper, and reselected my previous static wallpaper.
(note..the entire purpose of having this app is to eliminate the 'zoomed in blurr crap' routine amazon likes so much.)
how do I get it to STOP doing that?

Amazon Photos is the suspected issue. If you have a PC? Try to disable it by executing adb shell disable-user com.amazon.photos

I've been searching, and have seen lots of threads about similar problems with the Evo and it's fairly low-color screen, but I was under the impression that the Droid X has a 24bit color screen so this shouldn't be an issue.
Anyway, I've got some wallpapers (cropped and resized for the Droix X from the originals at Ultralinx)
They look fantastic on the computer. They're the right dimensions. Tried saving as JPG and 24 bit PNG, but the outcome is the same. When I copy them to the phone and set them as wallpaper, the gradients don't look smooth; there is color banding all over the place.
I've got screenshots and originals up on the web, but can't link to them until my account is approved by a mod.
EDIT: Added attachments instead, but the forum super-compressing the images doesn't help their clarity at all.
Hey,
i've got the same problem.
That's not funny at all, I really don't know how to save it, that it looks like on my desktop pc!

Sorry to be off topic but I cant help but stare at your notification bar. What theme is it?
It's my own notificationbar.
Have to search the files first
It doesn't seem to be the screen. I dropped those images into my dropbox, and opened them in whatever viewer dropbox opened by default. The image was smooth as I zoomed in, until I zoomed in far enough to see a moire pattern. I also opened it in Astra's built in viewer; again there was no banding. However, when I set the image to be my wallpaper, I see the same banding you are seeing.
Bad news is, I don't know what the problem is; good news is it doesn't seem to be a screen limitation.
Thanks so far!
But what's the problem than?
I really have no idea :/
Ah ha! Google turned up this app: "Wallpaper Set and Save" (Sorry, can't post a link because I'm new, apparently. I attached an image of the QR code instead.)
It says it hasn't been updated for 2.x, but it worked fine on my droid x (running the stock rom with launcher pro.) Using it to set the exact same wallpaper, I now see no banding (although I did in the preview screen.) It's worth a try, although I'd still like to know what is causing this issue (since it obviously isn't a hardware issue.)
I attached a screen capture so you can see for yourself.
Edit: The forum's image compression adds some artifacts; it looks even smoother on my screen capture. Even here it's a big improvement over the others though!
Its probably the gallery app that is re-compressing the wallpaper and creating the bands
I am a noob to developing and was wondering if anyone can give me a good start at creating a Live Wallpaper.
In my head its quite simple.
i have a set of Pictures from a bootanimation.zip i use.
i want the screen to show the first image until i touch it. then i want it to cycle through 2 sets of images, finally replaying the 2nd set until touched again, then go back to the first image...
anyone think you can help me out with that?
thanks...
and in case anyone is wondering im trying to make a stargate live wallpaper, that activates and deactivates on touch.
I an on my phone so I will comment more later. But you should first check out the cube live wallpaper in the samples. Since it is a working example it so should be a good place to start. After looking through the example take a look at the official docs to see what everything is doing.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
My wallpaper changes by itself to some random picture that I don't even have. I use the Water live wallpaper with the autumn leaves and then at some point throughout the day I go to look at my phone and there is a random picture as a wallpaper instead. It has happened to me about three different times all different days. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how do I fix it?
I apologize if a similar question has been posted before but I looked and haven't found anything.
Any other phone... and I would say you're running out of RAM memory and phone pushes live paper out of the system (which would be replaced with your stock wallpaper) but this phone has so much memory that it hardly would be the case. 2 things I can think of:
1. Your live wallpaper may have some sort of bug in it and forcecloses every now and then (is this from the market? read comments!!!)
2. You're using a task killer/manager of some sorts and it's killing the live wallpaper process.
Does this help at all?
Good luck.
Hey Borodin1 Thanks for your quick reply. I feel like an idiot. I figured out the problem. It was an app called astronomy picture of the day. There is an option that enables the picture of the day to upload as your wallpaper automatically. I installed a bunch of apps at one time and I didn't really explore astronomy picture of the day so I wasn't aware it was doing that. lol So that explains the astronomy type pictures my wallpaper kept changing to every single day. lol
I just though the Google Now backgrounds might make a nice dynamic background for my N7.
Does anyone know if anyone has done this?
I use paperland but I find animated backgrounds to be a bit laggy on the N7 so the GNow one might be a nice compromise.
I know blackbear has a gnex and has done this. Not sure if it was dynamic. I think so. I came across his g+ page and saw that he did it a few weeks ago.
I found this site, which appears to have everything I need to make it happen
http://mycolorscreen.com/2012/08/10/google-now-live-2/
I went there and downloaded the wallpapers and they aren't very clear they look upscaled. I really hope someone can vector those images and turn that into a functional live wallpaper, that would be outstanding. I'd rather not have to install some other apps to manage my wallpapers.
I was in London at the weekend and the top of the google now page was London themed.
Would be interesting if Google Now actually populated useful cards once in awhile.

It gives me a map and directions to appointments in my calendar, that's pretty useful to me anyway.
It also tells me what the weather was like several hours ago, which is useful if I build a time machine and just want to go back a few hours to test it.

I was working on one, but the small details weren't turning out well. So I did a basic image of the large parts and it looked alright, maybe I will upload it later
I did it guys !

Hi guys, I'm currently working on a Watch Face based on the fallout Pipboy HUD, I based the idea when I saw one for the Samsung Gear and after looking for one I couldn't find one for our Wear devices so here we are.
Currently the Watch Face is working fine on square devices (I have a Samsung Gear Live and is working like a charm). The only problem is that the square layout is not so good for a round device, so I made two different layouts, round and rect.
I tried to test it on a round emulator, but without GPU acceleration the Watch Faces won't paint up. And if you activated it, the round emulator breaks up. So here's my request: Can someone with a Moto360 be my guinea pig, the only thing that I need is a couple of screenshots.
Here's the source to the APK: PipBoyWear
Also I'm attaching some pictures how it looks in a Samsung Gear Live and how it should look like in a round device.
In case that the watch face crashes (I hope not), just remove the app from the Phone and the Watch Face will return to the default one.
Thanks in advance,
BTW the application is free and if everything goes fine, It should be available at the playstore in a couple of days.
Ninja Edit: Also I forgot to tell but the Pipboy health status is related with your battery status, e.g. if the battery is at 50% the Pipboy will have an arm and both legs crippled, also his face will change to an unhappy one.
Edit 2
Ok guys thanks to Finagle69 the app is now up at the PlayStore and is free. Hope you like it. Peace.
Bless you for doing this. I LOVE the idea. It looks great in general, but you'll need to do some real tweaking to get it to fit right. See pic.

Also, you'll get a lot more responses if you post this in the Moto 360 subforum.
Perfect thanks men, yeah the think is that the device is using the Rect layout instead of the circular one. I'll have to check my logic and see what's wrong. I'll keep posting about the changes.
And yes maybe I'll make other post in the Moto360 forum.
Ok I have uploaded a new application build, now I somehow manage to test it on the Round AVD so it should work fine in the Moto360 (in theory). Feel free to test it whenever you can.
And thanks in advance!

I just uninstalled the old and installed the new APK build in your Drive folder. Unfortunately, no change to the face. It's still the same as I posted the pic of yesterday.
Ok, I have a good work around for the problem. Try to install it again, now two different watch faces will be available, one for the squared devices and another for round. Use the round.
Hope this is the good one.

Works! There are three issues as I see them.
1) The time should be raised so as to not obscure the text at the bottom of the image.
2) The battery % is stuck at 100% (my batt is 62% at time of picture).
3) The dimmed mode is not black and white as in the square version. B&W would be much more preferable to the color dimmed that is has now due to the crap battery life of the moto 360 :\
I srsly need to try to take better pics.
EDIT: As a general request, can the date/time locations be swapped? I'm not sure how the square faced watches function with this face, but the Moto 360's time would be covered by any notification in this implementation.
Ok, I have fixed the 3 issues that you mentioned, so the screen should dim now.
Also I take into account your request and moved the date/time locations. And yes it makes more sense to have the time at the top.
The new APK is up and ready to install.

It's a home run, man. Maybe some little tweaking of the date being a tad higher or something so it looks a little more even. But overall, it's now my favorite face for my watch. And I love you for it.
Better pics. Both on and dim. Really love the smiley face when lit and frown when dim. Great touch!
EDIT: Now that i study it. When you first select the watch face and apply, it's got the smiley face and lit up. Then when it dims, it frowns. When you activate the watch either by bringing it to your face or pressing the button, it goes lit again, but stays with the frown. Like the only way to make it be smiley again is to change faces then back. I hope that makes sense?
Double EDIT: I just reread your OP. Seeing it now, my guy is crippled on purpose! LOL. Great job, don't change a think there.
Perfect, thanks yo tour help men!
About the first "problem" the changing faces of the PipBoy, at start the information of the battery is not available so that's why when the device is dimmed, the UI is redrawn to use low contrast colors, showing the correct values of the battery. Nevertheless I added a new condition to prevent that on the first time the WatchFace is shown.
Also I added a little more space to the date/hour, hope it looks better.
The new changes are up if you want to get it.
And again thanks for your help, I think now the App is ready for the playstore.
I'll keep you posted.

Just updated to your latest. It displays perfectly right from the start of choosing the face, and the date looks much better. You've done a great job with this. Thanks again!
