For a long time I've used "Rocketdial"...but the default dialer still pops up for incoming calls...so I'm debating ditching rocketdial and just keeping truecaller for it's caller id feature where it looks up unknown callers....what's your preference?
Stock one that comes in cm 12.1 works just fine for me.

Does the stock one identify unknown callers? Does it allow itself to work upside down when the phone is rotated (no for cm12.1 dialer). I can add in truecaller for caller id but it requires uploading your contact list which I don't like. Does it allow you to blacklist numbers so they don't ring on the phone? Does it allow spam lists to be downloaded? I'm looking for a full featured dialer.
The either way is up feature does work on cm12.1 I believe. Dunno about the rest only a handful of people I talk to use normal voice calling lol

Under CM 12.1 when you receive an incoming call the normal dialer will NOT honor rotation and end up flipping the screen...now everything is upside down as you are trying to answer the phone. Been there...done that...now under a stock rom they've done SOMETHING to fix that. CM 12.1 will honor rotation but the default dialer does NOT unless you got a nifty new one in the last month because I ran cm 12.1 right until I upgraded to marshmallow.
Yes it doesn't rotate I hadn't noticed

The rumors are they will eventually be phasing out hangouts for "allo". Might do a google and read up on it.

It was debunked. I use it to call regular phone numbers for free so I hope it is here to stay indefinitely

If you have CM12.1 you can download the capps package which comes with the Cyanogen dialer, the Cyanogen dialer has Truecaller built-in.

Couple of tips.
- Don't like the Market spewing new apps on your home screen? Just disable it in the settings.
- The persistant search bar can be disabled in Trebuchet's settings.
- Nova Launcher is an alternate to Trebuchet. I'm using it. It has a couple of useful features, like grid size. You can also disable widgets in the drawer, and get your standard long-press menu back. I highly recommend doing this if you use Beautiful Widgets, as that will spam up your widget drawer. Use AppWidgetPicker 2.0 pushed to /system/app to take care of this.
- Want your 4G toggle? There's a widget for it. It'll show up in the quick panel later.
Unfortunately, the voice actions are not available as of yet. Voice Search can be downloaded from the Market, but the speech-to-text as demonstrated on the GNexus is nowhere to be seen. It's an upstream issue.

I haven't explored VVM yet, but will post when I've got something. EDIT: As of right now, VVM is just plain not happening. I switched to Google Voice, which works well at the moment.
I love it. It doesn't feel like an alpha. The only feature I hate is that the cancel and ok buttons have switched so the cancel button is now on the left side and ok is on the right side. I keep cancelling when I think I'm pressing ok because I'm used to the other way.
Not that I won't get used to it.
I think the whole launch was beautifully executed, the only thing keeping me from staying on CM9 at the moment is that I cant restore the data from my apps.
The soft keyboard is a pain and I can't figure out how to set a static IP for wifi. Battery percentage doesn't work. I like how the LED notifications are fixed and how haptic feedback is back and working way better. The ROM overall is very fast. I backed up all my apps and contacts/SMS with mybackup pro and everything works perfect! Has anybody figured out how to get visual voicemail working?

Can we get swype to work (does it work now? Why haven't I tried before asking this question smh) ?
i have been running it for an hour and I like it so far but It can't be daily driver at the moment..
Most of my favorite games don't work or freeze (my biggest complaint)
asphalt 6 crashes
blood and glory doesnt work
deadspace doesnt work well due to the multi touch issue
street fighter IV crashes
few lags, but the rom is really smooth
camera recording issue (already noted by cm) and few minor bugs (like showing battery percentage in status bar doesn't show) and a few fc's here and there..
I haven't used the GPS for a while but it fine so far.
The CM team is amazing for the awesome rom (cm7 as well) and I am loving it so far...i am definitely donating
I think this rom is more a beta because it only has a few quirks to work out imo

You don't need swype beta. Just download one of the themed swypes in the apps section and flash it. Just make sure you mount system in CWM and unmount when you're done.

Everytime after I received a call (for example, while using Waze while driving), the phone would return to the phone app instead of Waze.
Is there a setting to disable this behavior and let the phone return to the app that was running prior to accepting the call?

That does allow several things to happen, but not return to the previously run app... It's annoying that when I'm driving with a navi app up, and someone called then the screen would return to the call log. What I'm trying to do is to get the screen back to the navi up immediately.
Is this even possible?

only issue I've had was with Google Voice.. I can send emoji's just fine, but receiving them they appear as diamond question marks. Strange - but probably just an issue with Google Voice.

It seems like it is only through the stock keyboard. I installed the Google keyboard as I think it is better at gesture typing, and installed the Emoji Add-on Dictionary, but can't seem to be able to add them anymore. On my Rezound with the Google keyboard, You could hit menu in the text box and choose Insert Emoji, but I don't have that option on my G2.
Interestingly, to me anyway, is that when I send teh stock LG emojis from the stock LG keyboard to a friend who uses Handcent he can see them, but when he sends them to me I can't see his. I just get something akin to ASCII code in place of the image. Seems there is more than one emoji standard...

You have to disable Google Voice integration if you're on Sprint, otherwise only a handful of Emoji's will work.
As the title implies lol.
I hope Google soon implements this once KitKat is up and running. That'd be sweet!

I wish more people had chimed in on this thread, but my two cents would be that such a feature would be very difficult to implement.
The stock MMS app was and still is open source, included in the AOSP Android release. Hangouts, however, is a closed source proprietary app, meaning it will be much more difficult to modify than the MMS app was.
I too am dying for some form of quick reply for Hangouts, it's a major piece of functionality I miss even though I've warmed up to the rest of the app. I just think we're going to have to hope for something like Halo to come to more ROMs, because quick reply in the app is highly unlikely.

Motorola is based off of AOSP.
It's not native to AOSP. Nexus != AOSP.
It requires baseband (radio) support that isn't present on the MXPE.
Figured it would be software related. Hangouts dialer works the same. If I ever need it I can use Google dialer and make the call with my number.
