I see slot of people flashing their phones but I dont see why.what are the perks of flashing and would it void my warranty with t mobile
The purpose of flashing is so you can get new roms that are created by developers which mostly run better than the stock roms. Yes you do void your warranty if you have a HSPL (Hard SPL) but you can return it to stock SPL if you need to use the warranty. It will act like it has never been there.
Its up to you what you want to do.
hnmmm i see. is there something that other roms offer that others don't?
Yes, the operate without all the fail that that stock rom is. Quicker, Smoother, and just more awesome. Try kumars rom out. its good stuff!!!
hmmm ok i meant app and widget/feature wise

Yes, tons. Just imagine everything you've added onto your phone with cabs would already be placed on the phone from the start. Having them already "cooked" in keeps the phone from lagging and makes it mush smoother. I had a lot of lag and freezing problems with the stock t mobile rom but since switching to Energy roms I haven't had any issues. For a list of apps and programs already cooked in just check out the official rom thread of the rom your eying.
i don't thinkid be able to cuz I couldn't really understand any of the tutorials on how too doo it sad day for me
does anyone wanna help me out here or is it just too much to explain. I'm just worried about bricking my phone
What's to explain.
Go and get the HSPL for your phone-put phone into active sync with computer-run HSPL.
Download a rom for the phone-load the file LEOIMG onto the main directory of the memory card-put phone into bootloader-ROM loads-done.
That's it.
but what if i need to hard reset or something and who can give me a list of roms that are compatible i don't understand how to find them
There is a thread stickied on the top if this section listing T-Mobile compatible roms. If it says T-Mobile,T-Mous, T-Mo etc, or 1024 leo it is compatible. The thing is T-Mobile hd2's hsve 1024 mb of flash memory while the Euro hd2 has 512 mb. If you flash a 512 rom you will have a brick. There are some really good threads stickied about flashing roms, tweaks and such. Read them a few times to get an idea of terms and procedures.
BTW... YOU and ONLY YOU are responsible if you brick your phone.

List of compatible roms.
yes i agree man which is why i wanna get all the details about my phone cuz i chose to flash it. i shall look over it. thanks much guys. would anyone be willing totteach me various things or point me to such places where i can learn to make a theme for myself or possibly make one for me?
Uhmm compatible roms..........Maybe in the T-Mobile section I linked to the one that says "T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development"? Granted there are other ROMs in the Standard Leo section as well as other site out on the net but you have to sift through to be sure they are compatible.
anyway what if i need to hard reset will it install my stock tmo rom or will it install custom rom again.
It would reinstall the ROM that you have loaded.
ok a few more questions and I'm done. will tmobile still notify me of updates and where can i find the stock roms in case i need to warranty my phone
Have you even opened the ROM development section? If you did you would have seen the first sticky is all the different stock ROM's that are around. As for updates from T-Mobile yes you will still receive messages from T-Mobile if they put out an update. If you want to load an update you can. If you ever have issues and need warranty work yes you can flash back to a stock ROM and stock HSPL.
haven't cuz it takes forever to load cuz i only have internet on my phone. sorry
you do realize that you need an actual computer to flash your phone right? You will have an amazing adventure cracking your phone with no internet access on an actual computer. Its not impossible but good luck..
This thread seems to have :facepalms: and written all over it.
Read up and read more. Then when you think you have an idea what to do, read again!
hi guys!
im all new to this, my HD mini is my first smartphone, and because i have a big affintiy on technical issues, like flashing a custom rom in my mobile device, i am posting right here
As far as i was getting to know, i will need SSPL for flashing a ROM on my device. if i want to make my custom ROM (just removing some things like copilot etc) i gotta use osKitchen. so far, so good.
but my real question is:
my phone provider is A1 mobilkom (i am from austria).
if i would flash my ROM, am i still able to use my phone correctly? because in another thread (dont find anymore this post), one guy wasnt able to find his normal GSM network after flashing another ROM (those shipped ROMs, you know hwat i mean.) ok, things like internet setting for correct UMTS connection can be set after all (access point name, pw etc etc).
is this linked to this radio part, everybody's talkin about?
whats the connex between flashing the ROM and this radio part? i read a lot on this issue for the last few days, but i didnt gain more knowledge on this, therefore i am asking now with this here.
i dont wanna run into troubles, so i am asking you guys for your opinion.
so far
greets from styria
PS thx for all the work for the community!
Hi there,
I was just wondering how to install a Froyo Rom (With A2SD Support, and 2.1 Android Version). I was wondering about this because they're saying something about "Radio Versions" and I have absolutely no idea what that means. Is it to connect to your mobile carrier? Mine's Virgin Mobile Canada, does it make a difference? I really need to know, because I can't take my chances with this phone. How do I know what radio versions I need for the Rom? Do I install it like a normal Rom? I also want one that has root access. Does that make a difference? Thanks for the help because I'm really confused at the moment. Thanks.
PS: I've searched everywhere for a 2.1 Froyo Rom but still can't find one, can someone please give me the link? The reason I don't want 2.2 is because the last time I used a 2.2 Froyo Rom I couldn't get reception to my carrier (Virgin Mobile), and I know I did something wrong, so I'm asking for advice now. Thanks.

Hi, firstly, please read as much as you can before posting
Now, the reason you can't find 2.1 Froyo is because there is no such ROM. Froyo is a codename for Android 2.2 ROMs, just as 2.1 ROMs have codename Eclair etc...
So if you want Froyo, you want 2.2.
As I have told you in the other thread, read stickies in Development. To get root access, you have to root first - not sure if you have done that, but anyway, read some howtos on rooting any other techniques and you will find out how to fllash a ROM.
Abot the Bell canada thing, I think you are on WCDMA there, which means you have to have a Radio for that - that's what the fuzz is about(about different versions of radios and their receptions). But I'm not sure if you even need a special radio, you'll have to find out in development.
Here are STICKIES
Good luck!
Hi everyone,
I rooted my phone and flashed new rom (in settings it says VillainROM-V13).
My Hero is still buggy and laggy as hell. Well programs are running fine i think, but calling is pain in... After a hour or two after i don't call, when i try to do it... It hangs for a minute or two. I mean i see calling picture and everything looks fine, but, i cant hang my call, i don't hear anything. Or sometimes it hang the call by itself, and i need to recall 3 times after what i can hear toooooooooooooot!
Anyway, it seems that this is software problem.. I don't use any taskiller or any speedup software.
VillainRom didn't change my phone so much. Maybe 10% speedup.
What about thouse radios you people flash? Why do you do it? Maybe it could help me? What about warranty? And what, and how do you flash them?
What about roms.. Which rom is faster than this VillainRom with this stupid Sense, which is slow..?
Please help me someone.
Hi,
as often mentioned before: use one of the roms from elelinux, they are the best you can get for the hero in my opinion. Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.6 is a nice Gingerbread based rom, its getting real fast if you flash the optional las venturas kernel. Otherwise you could go for the speedmachine-rom, also from elelinux.
You always need a corresponding radio (maybe that has to to with your problems). The radio is flashed like the main rom (copy the radio to your sd-card, fire up recovery an flash the radio)
CU, Peter
The radios usually improve phone signal etc, and you probably won't do much harm if you flash one. Just don't turn off your phone during the process or let the battery run out.
How old is your phone? The warranty is probably expired but if it's rooted the warranty is invalid unless you flash an RUU to return it to stock. There's a guide on VillainROM on how to flash radio's.
You could try a Froyo/Gingerbread ROM like Elelinux or FroydVillain. Personally, I found VR13 the fastest Sense ROM. I'd say a Gingerbread ROM like Elelinux's is the fastest No-Sense ROM.
Ok, where I can get latest radios for GSM European HTC Hero?
And when I flash radio, do I need to wipe rom, or cache? Do I need to wipe anything at all?
What about kernel? When I flash ROM does it flash kernel also?
Latest Radio for the hero is 63.18.55.06SU_6.35.17.03
You can get it at villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/307-Gsm-Hero-Radio-Roms-Download-Links
You dont need to wipe rom or cache, the kernel remains untouched
Hello people,
The fisrt question:
I wanna know if there's a way to connect the A500 to the internet, using a 3G USB Modem (Custom ROM or 3G module or any other mode) and HOW to do it...
The second question:
What's the best ROM in your opnion (if it has 3G, would it be better)?
Well, That's all...
Thanks people... ^^
Up...
Not sure if this is what you want...

I don't even know if it is supported on the newer roms and bootloaders.
As far as the roms? I'd check out civato's flexreaper roms, they are awesome. He also has a guide to put on the ICS bootloaders as well.
If all else fails just keep reading and snooping around the threads, your bound to find what your looking for
