Dead Pixel - what to do? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Just noticed I appear to have a dead pixel. Will Samsung deal with this? It's less then three months old.

Wake it up?

Dead Pixels.... :-(

So I've had 3 Xoom's now, all have developed dead pixels within 3-4 days of use (the last one had a blotch of about 40 odd dead pixels straight out of the box)..
Anyone else with the MZ601 version having issues like this??
I'm now having to wait a week for my 4th Xoom as Optus do not have swappable stock, and worried I'm going to get yet another one with dead pixels..

Got mine launch day, first 2 had dead pixels and 3rd one had a small speck of dust under the screen. I gave up, stopped noticing it after a few days.. just remembered about it now.
I think I could deal with dust, just not defective LCD panels... Its a shame really, but I guess all of these just go into a pool of manufacturer refurbished units for resale...

Galaxy S7 Edge - home button

Hi,
I've got a galaxy s7 edge since a few days but I have some remarks.. :
- Home button feels tactile at the right, less tactile on the left, the right side makes clicking noise
(I thinks that's okay?) the left side doesnt make a 'clicking sound'
- A the top of the home button I can see some 'screen lighting' when using a white background
Anyone else gots this?
i had the same issue on my galaxy s6 edge and did immediately an exchange without problems.
Thats absolutely unacceptable for so a cost intensive phone.

Someone else got this issue?
Yes. I had encountered this when getting my phone today. Luckily sales allowed me to replace it.

My s7 edge is doing this after a few weeks of owning it.

AMOLED screen

Hello, I want to buy Galaxy S7 Edge, but I'm heavy user, about 6 hours on screen daily, my question is AMOLED survive without burn for 2 years of such usage?
My friend still using Galaxy S1 which is 5 or 6 years old. I think it's ok.

Quite impossible to say, so the short answer is "we don't know".
Burn in? I never experienced such thing on all my Sammy devices. New oled screens don't have burn ins

My family has various phones with Amoled displays, some well over two years old, and none has shown any signs of failure or burn in. Don't worry about it.

This, my Galaxy S2 never had an issue in the 5 year of use and it is still running like a champ. As long as a Samsung phone wasn't made on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon these things are rock solid

That is so funny... I always check the manufacturing date.... Monday morning phones I always have issues with... But when I get a new phone I always look for something wrong with it!

Pink Lines on Screen

Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue. The other day I noticed that in apps with a white background color, I would have horizontal pink lines on the screen, sometimes vertical, too. It drove me crazy enough that I went to the Samsung service center close to where I live, and the guy flat out just told me that the screen needed to be replaced. I didn't leave the phone with them because I kind of need it, but I will have to eventually.
Weird thing is that there are no dead pixels - all the pixels are fine and went through the pixel test with no issues.
Anyone else experiencing this? Pretty frustrating since I got the phone less than 2 months ago.

Hey I think I might be having a similar problem, it started to happen yesterday and about a third of my phone is now constantly turning pink. If your problem is like the one below then let me know and I'll keep you informed in what Samsung say when I contact them later today
Just realised I can't post links yet but the images are here imgur(dot)com/a/YBA5o
Same thing started happening to me a few hours ago.
Definitely a hardware fault.
Mine was purple smudges and washed out, sent out they replaced the phone, its a hardware/factory defect.
Yeah definitely a hardware problem. I took a screenshot of the pink and sent it to my computer so I could view it there, and the screenshot was absolutely fine and pink free on my computer, so yeah, hardware problem like the people at Samsung said.
Just sucks that I can't get a replacement unit because I am over the 30 day period. That is just bull**** if you ask me. The phone is still brand new and doesn't even have a hairline scratch on it.
Sorry to necro this thread but the same thing happened to me again, after the screen was replaced the first time. Now it's gone in for a second time. I think this is a pretty well known issue with certain S7 Edge productions. Really even scared of the Note 7 now because I believe it's happening because of the edge panel.
2nd phone with the same issue, 1st time they replaced the phone for brand new, now the same problem... it happens only on s7 edge duo?
Past 31st I bought the S7edge black pearl version. When the Samsung sales executive unboxed and switch on those pink lines were displaying. I was shocked to see those. Immediately they asked me to wait and replaced a new one. I waited for an hour there and browsed my phone completely so that there will no major disappointment.
Just shared this incident on seeing this thread.

after note 7 failure they dont even care about this as they also updat bugs in 1+ old premium non premium devices :/ and then they launch new devices with smooth OS and higher price tag!

now its s7 edge turn to face these all bugs!!!!! cox S8 coming! RIP

How many original phones are still fully functional?

Just wondering.

Mine is but shutdown prob sometimes
I bought a 2nd one so I'm a bit paranoid about going all in and using it as my main device only for it to BLOD on me at some point.
The 6P was and still is my favorite phone. Loved the design and performance and camera, battery life was poor though.
I've owned about 5 over the years. My latest one got used for a good while and is now used as a backup phone in the family and still ticks along okay, battery is shot though!
My current pixel 2xl which I just bought second hand feels a lot like the 6P did, which is nice to see.
Mine ?
Cool. So not every phone is a lemon?
Funnily enough I bought a 2nd hand pixel 2 XL and I thought the screen was terrible - it was just way too blue. So I sold it and bought the N6P. The screen is much better then the pixel IMHO plus I put £100 in my back pocket.
Not mine
Phone is stuck in bootloop for a year or 2 now

I bought a 2nd hand pixel 2XL for £90 and am selling it already, crap battery (compared to my Moto Z Play) and the mobile reception was poor, even compared to the 6P.
Screen isn't bad, but can't forgive the reception and the battery.
£90 is a very good price for a pixel 2 XL. The battery on the pixel 2 I had was decent but the screen was poor for the price.
I am using it right now actually. Whenever I decide to get rid of it, I start using it again and it's so smooth and good to hold.
Maybe I could just replace the battery....
The mobile reception is a pain though. It isn't awful, but it is worse than my previous phones.
mine got into a bootloop last year n the power button is broken so theres really no saving it. ended up going with a galaxy s8+ duos. only thing i miss is the smooth n stable aosp roms tbh.

i bought my 6P refurbished in late 2017 and i dont think that the class action applies to me since i didnt purchase the phone from google or a service provider.
Mine (128 GB) is still going but the battery is worn out. drains fast when used and shuts down around 30%. just moved to a Moto last weeks as a primary. VZ warranty offered to replace my 6p with a Moto z Force or reimburse for battery replacement.. Other than than it looks like new and works quite well still.
Got mine yesterday. Abit battered but it works. Battery replaced and all working good on full 8 cores. Doesn't heat up much either? going to replace housing and it will look new again.

I'm going to get ripped for this but a pixel 2.
Me too! Did you find the screen awful? It was so blue. So I sold it and put £100 in my back pocket and bought the 6P.
I bought the pixel 2nd hand but I only kept it for a week or two.

Mine was a 2 xl in black. Screen was fine. Broke because of water damage, no rescuing it. So bought one from a mate of mine. He hadn't used it in a while so sold me it dirt cheap replace battery and housing and looks good as new.
I have a Pixel 2xl that broke. I'm out of town and won't be home for a month, to get it fixed. But I have my trusty 6p as back up. I bought it brand new, when they came out. I forgot what a darn good phone it is. It's one of my all time favorites. Still going strong. I'm so glad I kept it.
