I was using Windows 8.1 Pro for a few weeks it recognized my GS4 (gt-i9505) just fine. Yesterday my wife plugged HER GS4 into my laptop and after that it no longer recognizes MY GS4. I went to device manager and SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device has an exclamation point on it. I've installed the latest version of Kies (which is supposed to install the latest usb drivers) but to no avail. I've tried installing some other usb drivers I've found here but as soon as I install any drivers and plug my phone in then Windows comes in automatically and installs it's own drivers.
- Where can I download the correct usb drivers for Win 8.1 Pro?
- How can I stop Win 8.1 from updating THIS particular driver automatically whenever I plug on my phone?

Really?? I'm the only person this has happened to??
I am trying to upgrade a relative's Nexus 7 (2012) to 5.0. It is rooted so the OTA is not working.
When I try to plug it in to a Windows PC, it simply charges with no recognition from the computer or the tablet. There's no change in the device manager. I have tried several usb cables and Windows 7 and 8.1. I have played around with USB debugging and MTP/PTP.
So, I cannot use adb/fastboot to upgrade the device.
Are there steps I can take to rectify this issue? Is it currently possible to upgrade the device some other way? (losing root or TWRP is fine as long as it updates)
Thanks.
Hi everyone.
I unsuccessfully tried to install Android 5.0 on my 2012 Nexus (as well as my Nexus 7 2013). Unfortunately the thing is stuck in a boot loop right now.
I can still get into recovery mode, however, neither of my laptops can detect the Nexus 7. I use a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows 8.1 and I can not access the storage from either.
Can anyone please help me out with this problem?
... hope someone responds with suggestions.... have similar problem... installed Android 5.0, get 'flaky' ops & Pc can't detect tablet... how do I get back to And 4.4.4??
Have you guys made sure you have the updated Asus drivers for pc
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
My windows 7 PC didn't recognize my n7 in recovery until I disabled MTP (found under "Mount" in TWRP), then I could connect to it using ADB.
My unlocked rooted Nexus 4 (Android 5.0.1) charges normally when powered on and normally when powered off from both the OEM A/C adapter and from a Windows 8.1 Pro machine. On the Windows 8.1 Pro x64 machine the Nexus 4, when powered off, is still recognised as an MTP USB Device.
On any one of my Windows 7 Ultimate x64, the Nexus 4, when powered on, is recognised normally as an MTP USB Device with Android Composite ADB Interface and connects and charges normally.
However, on the Windows 7 machines the Nexus 4, when powered off, will not charge and this appears to be because the MTP USB Device drivers dont work. The Nexus 4 is recognised as an MTP USB Device but the driver installation fails (the error is "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I guess it doesn't charge because it isn't properly installed.
I have tried every fix I can find on the web with no success. I assume it's a problem in Win7 as there is no problem in Win8.1. There are obviously numerous work arounds; this is just bugging me - has any one seen and solved this particular problem?
I have a rooted Sprint Samsung Note 3 that I rooted successfully about a year ago,
In trying to update Rom and backup, computers with Windows 8, Windows 7 neither will recognize phone.
Where do I go from here?
Reinstall the drivers.
