[Q] Nexus 4 won't connect to computer

I recently picked up a nexus 4 and plugged it into my computer via USB and it started to install drivers but then failed
It continued to fail no matter how many times i tried and have had no luck being able to put files onto my Nexus
I wanted to root and have tried installing drivers myself and using the Nexus 4 toolkit and it installs drivers and lets me unlock my boot loader but will not let me root and will not let me even copy files onto it. I had a Galaxy Note II which worked perfectly on my computer and i can't figure out why my nexus won't connect. I spent 2 hours talking to Google themselves and they don't even know. My computer is running windows 7. please help me.
Seems like drivers conflict issue. Un-install all existing drivers of both Nexus and Samsung, create a new user account with admin privileges and try fresh install.

Win 8.1 won't see GS4

I was using Windows 8.1 Pro for a few weeks it recognized my GS4 (gt-i9505) just fine. Yesterday my wife plugged HER GS4 into my laptop and after that it no longer recognizes MY GS4. I went to device manager and SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device has an exclamation point on it. I've installed the latest version of Kies (which is supposed to install the latest usb drivers) but to no avail. I've tried installing some other usb drivers I've found here but as soon as I install any drivers and plug my phone in then Windows comes in automatically and installs it's own drivers.
- Where can I download the correct usb drivers for Win 8.1 Pro?
- How can I stop Win 8.1 from updating THIS particular driver automatically whenever I plug on my phone?

Not showing up as USB device in Windows

I am trying to upgrade a relative's Nexus 7 (2012) to 5.0. It is rooted so the OTA is not working.
When I try to plug it in to a Windows PC, it simply charges with no recognition from the computer or the tablet. There's no change in the device manager. I have tried several usb cables and Windows 7 and 8.1. I have played around with USB debugging and MTP/PTP.
So, I cannot use adb/fastboot to upgrade the device.
Are there steps I can take to rectify this issue? Is it currently possible to upgrade the device some other way? (losing root or TWRP is fine as long as it updates)
Thanks.

Bad Lollipop Install, Stuck in Bootloop, Can Not Get PC to Detect Nexus 7

Hi everyone.
I unsuccessfully tried to install Android 5.0 on my 2012 Nexus (as well as my Nexus 7 2013). Unfortunately the thing is stuck in a boot loop right now.
I can still get into recovery mode, however, neither of my laptops can detect the Nexus 7. I use a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows 8.1 and I can not access the storage from either.
Can anyone please help me out with this problem?
... hope someone responds with suggestions.... have similar problem... installed Android 5.0, get 'flaky' ops & Pc can't detect tablet... how do I get back to And 4.4.4??
Have you guys made sure you have the updated Asus drivers for pc
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
My windows 7 PC didn't recognize my n7 in recovery until I disabled MTP (found under "Mount" in TWRP), then I could connect to it using ADB.

Verizon Note 3 can't be seen as a storange device on my laptop

Hi so I got a N900V Verizon Note 3 yesterday and when I connected through the USB cable when I got back it was only charging and could not be used as a storage device through My Computer. I installed Kies 3 also (Its 4.4.4 the phone) and it says the device was not compatible with this version of Kies idk why. Please help me? My old S3 i9300 could be accessed as a storage device but now its wont so how would I be able to manage files etc..? Thank you very much I have searched everywhere and haven't had much luck. It is recognized by the PC for sure as in Device Manager its named as SAMSUNG Android Phone and Samsung Android ADB Device or w.e
Try installing the latest drivers from samsung i guess its 1.15.49.0 something like that...
Is the MTP apk disabled on the phone?
