You can no longer use just your fingerprint to unlock your phone after a reboot or after 24 hrs of standby you must first enter your backup password, then after that you can use just fingerprint to unlock but only if your phone is not idle for more than 24 hrs.

I am actually loving this feature. Legally, you cannot be compelled to enter a password, but that protection does not include biometrics (fingerprint, retina, etc). iPhone has been doing this for ages, it's about time we did too.

1. I just got my Nexus 6p yesterday and upgraded from my Nexus 6. I left it on the side table last night without putting it into battery saver mode or anything like that, expecting Doze to take care of my battery saving needs. I lost around 35% battery overnight, which is as bad or worse than the Nexus 6 did without battery saver mode turned on. Chrome and Android OS were the top users, but I expect that the Chrome use was my using it before bed, not overnight? What could cause that kind of drain, especially when Doze should be making it way better, not worse?
2. Smart Lock never really worked for me on the Nexus 6 at home. I was really hoping that the 6p would fix it, but I still get asked for a pin or fingerprint all day while keeping the phone here. How can I troubleshoot this?
In case it matters, this is a stock phone. No root or anything other than applying OTA updates and restoring apps from my old Nexus 6 using the Google restore feature when it first booted.
Well over this past night I didn't lose a single %... so the first night was fluke I guess...
Any ideas on the smart lock situation?

smart lock sucks so badly. I could never get it to work at home both on n6 and n6p. what's worse is that on my n6p fingerprint scanner brings up the pattern lock very often.
Smart Lock for locations is a hit and miss.
Good to read the batter issue solved itself.
Hey Guys,
I have s7 edge year and half~, the battery worked ok till few days ago.
It starts to drain really really fast - like 2 percent in minute, I tried to monitor it but it seems everything is normal..
So didn't know what to do and made factory reset, And still drained but seems bit slower.
Now i wanted to discharge the battery to 0%, i thought it won't be a problem according to draining fast..
So the battery went pretty quick to 1% and i'm on 1% already 2 hours active....
How? is it illusion or what? i'm not understand how it's possible...
Thanks!
Update:
Restart on safe mode - it showing 50%... why and how i can fix it?
Thanks
Another Update: Seems problem solved.
After enter & quit safe mode the percentage got reset and battery drain return to normal...

Looks like it was a battery calibration problem.
For next time you may try this code :
*#0228#
Then discharge the phone completely and charge it again to 100%.

I'm having battery drain when my battery gets near 30% and want to try this code and follow your instructions. Question: How do i enter that code? When I input it through the dialer, it calls the number and comes up with a recording that it's a bad number. I thought I had done this process years back and it worked but obviously I'm wrong. Can you tell me the correct way?
TIA...

Normally you just enter this code in the dialer without need to press the 'call' button. When the code is entered correctly it will automatically activate the hidden menu as soon as the last character of the code is entered.
Maybe you disabled some apps with Titanium Backup or package disabler ? If so, try to enable everything back, reboot and try the code again.
Hope it helps.

Thanks, I'll practice the method and see if it works. I'm unrooted at the moment. For the last year and a half I haven't wanted to mess with root as it's gotten more complicated over the years.
I am only getting an avg battery backup.
7 hrs of SOT is not good considering the big 5000mah battery so i checked the usage and i saw that system is using too much battery.
Is this normal or too much?
If it is too kuch then how do i fix it?
Thanks in adv?

Okay here's the screenshots i know how to post them now lol??
Dont use fingerprint scanner use face unlock. Asus has faulty fingerprint scanner which cause high system usage. It happens while its in pocket or has even little dust on it
Turn off background run
From the second screenshot, click in the Android system and scroll down and find "background activity" and turn it off.

I think i fixed it now..... I removed fingerprints and then i shut me phone down.... Cleaned the sensor and started the phone again and added a fingerprint . this way yesterday the android system drained a lot less battery than last time there was an 18% drain after 7 hrs of sot from 95%-20%.
After that i got two more hours of screen on time, now i get 9 hrs of SOT and i also played pubg for 1hr 40 mins.

Hi. I wanna know rebooted itself? I dont have a problem like this. I do reset at 01-08 8h p.m and dont full charged, so in the night was 40 percent. Next day i used and battery stats was just 17 hours. Where gone 18 hours -24 hours? I used phone from 18 to 24hours . I speaking with my friend. Ant the phone works nornal. So after 00.am i locked screen with opened sms apps to direct send sms. Battery was 26. After morning i unlock phone battery was 22. Battery is normal. My opinion. I unlocked phone and see home screen with pop up close back cover this message pop up when the phone turned on from switched off device completely. Or rebooted. But when i unlock screen i typed my pattern lock. But no sim card pin. So rebooted? Ugh i dont remember what i locked sms with power button or just homescreen. Like homescreen i understand because my cover back is cracked. But when i unplug cover i dont see warn message. Just when rebooted or turn on again s5 phone. I see even when back cover is plug in. So why battery scale not going down like normal? Umm, when i used the phone for 5 days. Battery left the 5 day 45 in the evening. And do not let to discharged to 26%. Hmm interesting. I enter to settings-about device-up in time see 38 hours. Not 8hours working or 2hours after reboot . You know not completely rebooted when the phone rebooted with samsung brand name. Just samsung logo and turned itself to lockscreen. Maybe this?? But i never had on s5 neo. I had on s3 when rebooted in samsung logo and put me on lockscreen. I had the note 3 which rebooted completely with vibrate and samsung brand name and model, and samsung logo but i dont remember when rebooted asked my pin or just lockscreen pin. I never locked the s5 neo with 26 percent and stand by to 10 hours . I used the phone with 26 when i got the phone. Just not used when was 17percent. Was be in december 24day 17. P.m to 23.pm was 10 percent in the next morning still 10 percent. Good battery.
Hi there
I saw a lot of comments saying that with the Pie update, the battery is running out really faster.
Do anyone recommend me to install it or wait until the fix comes?
Thanks
It's solid , after update do master reset.
Around 6h SOT, 24-30h usage.
I literally go to bed with 50-70 % left on the phone and by the time I wake up it's on 0%! It even forgets fingerprints if left like that for awhile!
I have turned off Adaptive Battery at all times. No difference over previous versions.

What do u mean it even forgets its fingerprint? I have an issue that it deletes itself or somehow and the fingerprint just disappears.
Yes. Factory reset made no difference. I am getting 12-14 h of usage (cca 1,5 SOT included). It used to be at least 2x more on android 8.1
Find health services app and clear data. Then let the phone sort itself out over a few days. Worked for me.
Just got back from Pie, now i downgraded to Nougat.... And yes i can really tell the drastic difference of battery life, nougat lasts longer especially at idle
only 3% was taken from the battery overnight, mobile data was on
While pie took 12% tho it will last longer with data turned off, but as efficient as Nougat or Oreo
