Hi guys,
I noticed today that my gallery is so slow to delete a picture or just to view a video (sometimes when I try to watch a slow-motion video, it freezes and the apk crashes). Both pics and videos are in the external sdcard, but this sdcard is brand new (128gb class 10, from sandisk).
I'm in the latest stock rom MMB29K.G935FXXU1APD1, updated since some days ago by OTA.
You guys noticed the same?
Edit: the problem is that the sdcard has one corrupt sector almost at the beginning of the storage.

Of course I did it, too many times. I also re-flashed the stock rom by odin a couple of times and nothing...
But, don't worry, I noticed that the sdcard is corrupt, one of the sectors is broken and I think is a physical problem, there's not any software capable to fix this (I already tried it). Just changed to another sdcard with the same pics/videos (I copied them) and the problem is gone (fixed!).
Ok, i had the same problem and restarting helped

Old thread revival! @Xampy
" the problem is that the sdcard has one corrupt sector almost at the beginning of the storage. "
As I'm now experiencing similar on a SD Card that is less than a quarter full, what was your actual cure?
Copy all data and reformat the card or other?
Thanks.

Hi @touchy66,
I could recover data and format it (writing zeros to not be possible to recover data) and returned the product to Amazon and changed for another SD card. The new one is working fine since so long

Install philz recovery and mount your phone to computer in it, maybe it should work. I had same issue just today after installing cyanogenmodx. Hopefully i had backup of previous rom and i could see all files in recovery.

I am experiencing continuous problems with the external SD. Although it is an original Samsung, cclass 10, and works fine out of the movil, data becomes corrupted as long as I copy or move things there. However, and this is the strange part of the story, there ara some data that were copied to the SD BEFORE updating to KitKat, and those data are correct.
I can only explain it with the update to KitKat. Havve you eexperienced something similar? I it possible that 64Gb is too much for this Android version?
Any idea is appreciated. Thanks a lot

Hi. I had the same problem. So I sent an email to sandisk and they ask for pictures of the microsd. I sent the pictures and they said they there was an error on the microsd, they give me an adress and I sent the product to sandisk ans they send a new one fully working now ^^
I'm not completely sure, but I have a clue: I am testing a Samsung 16g card, and it was working fine UNTIL I took a photographs and the camera app wrote to the external card. Since then, it failed. Then, I reconfigured that app again, so that it didn't write to the external card, formatted the card, and again it seems to behave correctly...
Hello everyone, I've found this error using my SD card on my moto x play, anyone know how to fix it ?, I already try to format , hard reset and a different SD card but I had no results.
Error code:
command '12 volume partition disk:179,64 public' failed with '400 12 command failed"
Any updates?

Hi, did u fixed it? I faced with same issue. Im looking for solution, will let you know if i get some.
Even I have the same problem I called customer care and they told me to visit service centre. I also tried factory reset but no use
Same here. I tried format the SD card in a Mac and a PC, tried again with other cards, but I have the same (frustrating) result. The only thing I didn't try yet was restoring the device, and I don't know if is a good idea (seems didn't working for any other person with the same problem).

Hi did you get that resolved?
I am having the same problem. I was using my old MicroSD Card. After the update for Android 6.0.1 it appeared a message saying that the card was corrupted or something like that and i might need to format it. I try to do so and and error appeared while formatting it as Internal so i remove the SD card and restart the cellphone and tried to do it at least as External Storage but i got the same error. So i bought a brand new MicroSD Card Class 10 32 Gb and had the same issue. I did a hard reset and start over and i have the same outcome.
All my SD Cards that i tried to use got recognized on my friends cellphones. Moto G Turbo, Moto G 2nd i got a Moto X play. The difference between them and i is t hat i have Android 6.0.1 and they 6.0.
Does somebody found the solution to this issue? . Which version of Android do you have 6.0 or 6.0.1. Everything got screwed up after the update.
Additional Details:
1. After the error appears the SD card is not being read anymore even if i eject it and insert it again. So i erased the Media Storage Cache and External Extorage Cache, restart the cellphone and put back the SD card again and i got recognized with the message that i need to format it. I try too many time reproducing this issue and i always got the same frustrating result. The SD cards were formatted on Mac and PC and also other Motorola phones and Same ****.
2. Called Motorola Services Desk on USA and LATAM. One of them told me to restore the cellphone to brand new state. I did it and same ****.
3. Am so sad for this not much information available
The same issue is there in many custom ROMs as well. I feel it's got something to do with 6.0.1 rather than the sd card itself.

No. I just bought the Moto X play. I was working fine with an Old SD Card. After i upgrade to 6.0 to 6.0.1 the SD Card is not read anymore and showing errors while format it internal or externally. I bought a faster card class 10 and same error. The thing is my friends with no update can read my cards without problems using same cellphones.
My sd card went crazy too after 6.0.1 though after a few tries I did manage to save everything on it into my pc using the sd card adapter. Then I did the slow format in Windows and put it back into the phone. So far it seems working fine.

I will try on a pc...did that on osx with Parallels Desktop...no go!
I have had the same issue as some above. Went wrong two weeks ago when the latest OTA became available from Motorola. The moment the phone restarted I received a warning that the microSD was not formatted, which had been previously set up as internal storage. I am 100% certain that it was the upgrade to 6.0.1 that did this, and not anything physical. I've tried approx 20 different methods to try to format it, both in the now-rooted X Play and on my PC, and even when it appears to be successful it actually isn't. Windows 10's diskpart will show the partitions, whilst most will not. It's as if the card has somehow become write-protected. The 128gb card was not cheap, so if anyone has had the same issue and has a solution, please give any tips you can!
Hello any solution for this ?
I'm willing to try and flash the 6.0 stock. Reporting here asap!
I need a fix for thisssssss! SD Card is not garbage now is it?
no way
sorry guys, bad news! I downgraded to Stock Android 6.0, it didn't fix the problem.
will try with a brand new sdcard...to see if the mxp is somehow very picky...or more simply the sdcard reader is damaged
hi guys!
i have the same issue with new 64 Gb microsd card. did anyone get the decision?
Just happen lately that when I took picture with my original samsung camera app, it pop message as "unable to save file to sd card. default storage is changed to device". The phone can still read or write the SD card as normal, only camera app is giving the issue.
I have try clear the app data as well as re-format my SD card, but the issue remains.
Are you sure the phone can write to the SD card still? I noticed this same issue with my new GS7 (regular, not Edge) today. I tried taking pictures and had the same message you reported pop up. I can't write to the SD card at all. If I put the card in my computer, it'll write to the card; but I've tried moving files on the SD with Samsung's "My Files" app and the attempt to move fails. I've tried getting several other apps to write to the card and they fail too. In my searches I can find other people reporting problems with writing to the card, and that maybe there's a problem with Samsung's latest software version. Anyway, I've just had my phone for 2 days, so I'm surfing around looking for a good answer.
EDIT: My problem turned out to be a failing SD card. The computer (WIndows 10) created the illusion that the file was moving, but didn't actually do it. The SD card was no longer writable. I picked up a new 200 GB SD card and it is working great.
kind of similar issue here with my s7 edge, when i take pictures it sometimes saves to the device storage without any warning randomly. though my settings is save to sd card.
Same issue here, only the camera app has trouble writing to SD card, but it works perfectly fine otherwise.
It seems to have started happening since the latest system update (G935FXXU1APEQ).
I've already tried many things : clear camera app cache, wipe system cache, reformat SD card...
Same issue too
I have reformatted SD card, no change ...
I think it's related to http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/micro-sd-problem-t3340251

FYI, I flashed to XSG, but no idea if worked with stock

Hi, I recently stumbled upon an unpleasant issue. I got xt1562 (stock 6.0.1 EU, no root, no cwm) and sandisk ultra 64gb. Sometimes (I fail to identify the source of issue) the memory card just disappears and the phone doesn't see it. Since the card is formatted as internal, i cannot take even pictures or download anything via browser. SolidExplorer doesn't see it in the list of storage as well. Restarting the phone or replugging the tray helps for an uncertain amount of time, the card becomes visible and then disappears again. I looked for obvious answers, but it is something special (not mentioned here or in google to my best knowledge).
Does anyone know how to solve the issue? I would appreciate any comments as well.
Thanks.
I had this same problem, but it solved by itself.
for this particular reason I stopped using the memory card as internal storage.

I had the same disappearing issues before but since I did a slow format in Windows, the problem seems to go away. Never had any disconnect or disappearing issues again until now.

I'm getting exactly the same issue. I'm using a 128gb card formatted as portable storage (exFAT ). I know when the issue starts because taking a picture with the stock camera app causes it to crash, and spotify complains about there being no access to storage. The card is being detected by other apps and Androids built in file explorer. I have to restart the device to cure the issue.
I have the same issue since updating from 6.0 stock to 6.0.1 stock.
What changed? There must be a reason for this behaviour.
Same issue here too after updating to 6.0.1 ota. Have to restart for it to fix itself. I'm beginning to think it might be linked with charging but not certain yet.
Searching the net it seems that Samsung users are on 6.0.1 are having the same issues. Google must be aware by now.
I fixed it with a different kernel.

Optimus --> works

Well, stock ist stock.
After updating to 6.0.1 I had no dismounts with stock kernel, but I didn't use it very long.
I flashed Phoenix kernel which resulted in lots of dismounts, this was fixed by Optimus Kernel for me.
I used to be have the same problem with a Sandisk Ultra 128GB.
I need to backup all files in windows and format it to back to normal.
This problem appears every 30-40 days after formatted.
The problem was finally solved by buying a new sd card (samsung pro).
Well, I was too fast reporting it fixed.
I still get unmounts. Not that often but it ain't fixed.
Never had a single unmount with 6.0.
Actually thinking of going back as this sucks balls.

I tried formatting my card back to exFAT. The dismounts were as much as every 10 minutes. I have now formatted the card back to FAT32, of which i had more stability, but this time I have started fresh with a completely empty card. Formatted in gparted then straight into the Moto. See how this goes.!!
Me too had similar issue after the latest ota update.
Everytime When I connect phn to PC via cable SD card disappears. SD card will not show in PC and phn. I need to restart phn to get it back. I'm using SD card as portable.
1st I formated the phn. But still the problem occurs
2nd I formated SD through PC. Result was successful. Now the card is OK not disappears while connecting to pc
This is the exact same issue I had since stock lollipop. I updated it to 6.0 since I though that this was the reason, It worked for half a day before it stopped and even on 6.1 it doesn't work.
For the record I also have Sandisk 128 gbs class 10. The only message I get is "Corrupted SanDisk SD Card”.
Some solved this problem with slow format option on PC.

SInce my last post, I have formatted the card as external. It worked fine until i filled it up to 10gb (out of 64gb). Now I have exactly the same issue. Does anyone know how to let Google, Morotola know about it? Is it covered by any guarantee? I start thinking that I am back to 2007 with first android versions
