From what I can see, it looks like the Z3, compact and tablet is supported for official launch.
The announcement is here: https://plus.google.com/+ParanoidAndroidCorner/posts
Also, at the moment the download section is empty so hopefully it's uploaded soon.
I hope PA support our device.
but still CM13 isn't release, maybe we take PA-L...
This will make me unlock my z3 for the first time ever and go back to root. PA are one of the few if not only valued ROM team in my opinion.
Dev has confirmed to me that it will be released within a week.
I've unlocked and stuck on CM12 for easy flashing.
Remember and back up your TA Partition before you unlock the bootloader.
Wow, this sounds amazing. Really looking forward to its release.
Great news. I love the Z3 and the official roms available for it, but it's been lacking in AOSP / CM support compared to other phones until now.
A dumb question: Paranoid fully supports Sony camera? Or I will loose quality if I flash.
Thanks!

No one knows yet I assume. Only the PA devs themselves know. But I'm really curios as well. If PA manages to fix it, this could mean a lot for the rest of the AOSP Z3 roms
Say, I'm on ZyxxOS 6.0, the modified Beta of Marshmallow that was released by Zyxx, how would I install PA on my D6603? My Bootloader is unlucked and I have TWRP installed.

You will probably get the fisheye camera that's in all AOSP Roms. Or maybe the new camera without fisheye but definitely not the Sony camera

You would install as any other normal rom.
Do a wipe, dalvik etc
fastboot boot
flash zip
reboot
If camera will not lose quality then will jump,to it. And if its will be official we no need to unlock BT.

You will have to unlock the bootloader since PA is an AOSP-based ROM that comes with a custom kernel.

That's exactly what I think! Actually, I don't care about the camera app, only the camera quality, I heard that when you unlock the bootloader you lost the some quality... not sure if it's true.

Yeah, but considering its not a Sony based rom, it might be hard to port over the camera app with it's features. Also the stock Sony rom contains some .lib and .so files that will likely contribute to the camera quality, so don't expect the PA rom to have any of that.
And yeah, unlocking bootloader will remove the DRM keys, so camera quality will drop.
But this is not really an issue for me, so I'm really excited for PA. All I'm hoping for is the fisheye to be fixed
No fisheye would be absolutely brilliant. Here's hoping!

That's incorrect. You need to have the bootloader unlocked. It's "official" as in it will be in their official support ROM's but not supported by Sony.
Back up your TA Partition and you canb restore what you need so you don't lose camera quality if you change back to stock.
Is there anyway to preserve the camera's functionality?

Hello all,
I have a question regarding my Xperia Z.
I would like to install Cyanogenmod 10.1 (Stable) for my Xperia Z but I do see some various kinds of methods.
1. By using fastboot (Don't know exactely what it does).
2. By using a custom recovery.
Now, my phone is rooted and I do have a custom recovery.
Can I flash Cyanogenmod without unlocking my bootloader? (I don't want to loose Bravia engine and Stamina mode) when I ever decide to go back to stock.
From what I understand, fastboot will flash the CM kernel (not possible with a locked bootloader) while the custom recovery only installs a rom without a kernel.
Does it mean that I will have the stock kernel but with CM rom on it?
A couple of questions comes to mind in total:
- Can I flash CM using custom recovery?
- How to return to stock rom if ever needed (Will i loose my Bravia Engine -> DRM keys)?
- How to update the kernel to a new stock kernel if needed while running CM?
Kind regards,
You can't. You need to unlock your bootloader in order to flash the cm kernel.

But that does mean that I'll loose my DRM keys forever?
I don't want to lose them just in case I need to restore.
And if I unlock my bootloader, how do I exactely flash CM?

Before unlocking, you can save your DRM keys with this method.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the process then the following:
1. Root phone without unlocking bootloader.
2. Install CMW
3. Backup DRM keys.
4. Take Nandroid backup.
5. Save the files of the backups (3 & 4) in a safe location.
6. Unlock bootloader.
7. Flash CM.
For a restore:
1. Reflash stock rom.
2. Restore nandroid backup.
3. Restore backup of DRM keys.
Can you confirm that this process is correct, because I really want to install CM.
Is there a list somewhere (cannot find it on the official CM website) that lists me what kind of bugs there are in a specific CM version (what is not working)?
Kind regards,
Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't at least AOKP and ParanoidAndroid developed for locked bootloaders on other phones? If so, technically it should be possible with our Z, right?

I doubt it, but if they were they won't have been a true port.
Honestly, i don't understand the DRM thing. It's not like you lose important features. If you can unlock your bootloader, then do it. Not doing it would be like buying a Ferrari just for your Garage.

Just because they're not important to you doesn't mean they're not to others, and even if I could unlock I'd probably still be holding off in the hope that someone comes up with an S1Tool that allows Sim and Bootloader unlocking for late 2012, 2013 Xperias.

There are only 2 bugs that I know of: the screen takes 1.5 seconds to wake up after pressing the power button, loudspeaker in calls doesn't work.
I've also heard that hdmi out is broken but I haven't tried.
I'm running Cyanogenmod personally and it's great.

When I had my Arc S unlocked from O2, the bootloader unlock allowed changed from No to Yes.
So unlocked BL and running CM11.

Running LegacyXperia CM13 on my Xperia Arc. Got this phone as a hand-me-down as a replacement for a Samsung Galaxy Trend with a failing battery. I have to say I'm so pleased to be back with a Sony Ericsson device, I had an X8 (GingerDX) before the Samsung. These things are so easy to root, install custom roms and I love physical buttons. Marshmallow runs well enough for daily usage with 16GB Samsung EVO SD card. Much snappier than the Samsung with stock rom.
Edit: sorry for bringing back an old thread, heh
i still use it, official stock rom 4.0.4 ICS, love it... not going to change this phone ever.... maybe i will add xperia m4 aqua and use them both... but Arc s will be primary... also i'm hw buttons fanboy !:laugh:
still using the arc with CM 10.1

yes but my point being thay Z2 should have Lollipop fairly soon, there is absolutly no point to porting lollipop to a device thats soon to recieve it.
and porting a firmware premade for one device to another isnt easy at all
that 77 rom doesnt seem to have a Z3 base.
Agreed.

I'm sure many here will not see this as a "bad bad bad news". Having an official lollipop firmware in a 2.5 old device is more than anyone could ask for. Having a solid 5.1.1 build is better than having the latest build.

Yeah, everybody waits for you to tell them If you don't know how to make ROM, learn it maybe...
Too soon to build a stable AOSP rom yet, they seem to work daily on it
For anyone wondering, here is the link to the binaries if you wanted to build your own ROM or maybe start playing with the kernel, but it's very early and they will likely update/improve this before official Sony ROMs for our device are available:
https://developer.sonymobile.com/do...ies-for-aosp-oreo-android-8-kernel-4-4-loire/
I built it a aosp oreo a few days ago and it's looking promising. The stability now seems good. Camera is not working for the moment. It runs quite smooth too
I've already made it. Not usable, so I didnt publish it. When it get into the launcher, it will auto reboot and then stuck in boot logo forever.

When I'm next in front of my PC I'll upload to this thread. It's not my work so I'm not going to create a separate thread for it.
There is one caveat and that is you will have to flash the vendor binary image to the /oem partition.
The nougat bootloader doesn't support this.
I guess sony will update the bootloader with their official oreo update.
Instead you have to convert their sparse image to ext format. Then dd the image onto the /oem partition.
Sony posts device tree sources that barely boot and don't produce stable roms. They rely on users to update the source trees for AOSP roms. These updates require a lot of work to sus out. You can't just "build" a good AOSP ROM without decent source.
The short answer to why one hasn't been posted is that Sony's AOSP program is a joke and it takes a lot more than most people would think given Sony's lip service to it.
Successfull buil AOSP Oreo
Tried to build AOSP Oreo r36 and was successful.
