Any work around yet for restoring a backup from a previous device and putting into a new device. I am in this boat due to my phone falling out of my pocket on a roller coaster and having a piece of wood go through it. Magically still turned on though. Anyways I am plagued with a successful restored backup on the new device and the finger print sensor will not work because the data is from the other original device.
Yes I made sure to delete the lockscreen.db before I booted it up. Everything works perfectly besides the fingerprint sensor and you cant set it back up. If you try it says "Enrollment was not completed. Fingerprint enrollment didn't work. Try again or use a different finger." Also says "fingerprint sensor not available" at the lock screen. If you wipe data then it will allow you to reset it and it works great. My question is does anyone know what needs to be removed or deleted to allow you to use this nexus print feature again? Thanks in advanced.
Suffering the same problem; did you get anywhere?
Probably not. Just have to factory reset. It's not that bad...

I had to exchange my atrix for a new one after a line of dead pixels wouldn't leave my screen.
I copied all my storage from one to the other and then ran a restore from Titanium Backup.
My original phone was set with fingerprint reading (which worked great by the way) and of course the backup pin #.
Now when I turn on my screen it prompts immediately for the PIN...no lock screen at all. It did restore the PIN that I set on my original phone.
When I try to manage the lock screen (settings - loc and sec - change lock screen) it bounces over to the finger print reader setup and then bounces immediatley back.
Seems like I'm kind of stuck.
Any suggestions on how to get my lock screen back and finger print reading up and running without a system restore and limited (app only) restore for TiB?
Same problem

I have the exact same problem. I had a very long pin and I don't always like to have my phone secured when I'm working from home all day so its a big pain.
I don't want to go back and rebuild my whole phone again (SBF, root, CWM, Gingerblur 1.2, restore) so it would be nice if there was a way to reset it to just take the pin. My guess is the pin restored but not the fingerprint templates so the system is looking for them and failing.
If you use the search function, this has been discussed already. There is a line of code you can run to reset it.

Recently my LG G2 Verizon has started having an issue with turning on.
1. will no longer turn on by knock on. (knock off works)
2. when i push the power button on the back about 75% of the time the screen turns on then immediately turns off or turns off as soon as i touch the screen. I have to push it a bunch while touching the screen to get it to stay on and let me unlock it.
3. pulling down the notification bar from the top only pulls down partially then closes a lot of the time.
I have tried:
1. Uninstalling a bunch of apps, no success.
2. did a data reset and wiped everything. no success.
Running:
4.2.2
VS98011A
TWRP 2.6.3.2
When i first went into TWRP i tried to do a factory reset and it just sat there with an error that i could not mount the cache. Then i rebooted, went back in and this time did a data wipe and typed "yes" to verify. It got stuck trying to do that as well, but this time when i rebooted it was reset and i had to reenter all my account settings etc. But it is still having the same issue. I am wondering if there is something in the cache thats causing it and i wonder if it did not wipe the cache when it wiped the data.
At this point i just want the phone to work but not sure why TWRP is having issues. Has anyone else had any of these issues? Can anyone help with these issues?
I wouldnt mind flashing the VS98011B rom but i am not sure TWRP is working correctly and want to make sure it works right before i try to flash a new rom. Should i use CWM? if so how do i get from TWRP to CWM? i need some help.
Any advice is extremely appreciated.
bump for help PLEASE.

Hi guys
It's a couple of days that my fingerprint sensor won't work at all.
When I tap on fingerprints in settings it shows the message of the first attached pic.
Obviously I've tried to restart the device, shut it down and booting lots of times. It used to work for a while, but then the message will reappear.
Dialing *#0*# and going to the sensor sections shows just "null" as it doesn't even exist.
I've also tried a factory reset. Didn't worked.
Tried to wipe data files and cache from app manager. Nothing
Any ideas?
I still have the warranty valid, but there's a mark on the bottom of the device caused by falling. Will they accept warranty anyway?
Thanks to all
They probably will repair under warranty, you've got EU consumer laws on your side, if you've had it less than 6 months it'd be more in your favour generally.
So, I took delivery of my G4 plus less than ten days ago.
Everything worked fine, except that the fingerprint sensor occasionally acted up. It would often fail to recognise my fingerprint, about one out of every ten scans; but i assumed that my dry skin had something to do with it.
Today morning, upon waking up, I noticed the phone had become unusually hot and switched it off for the first time in nine days. When I turned it on again, the fingerprint sensor was totally dysfunctional.
I tried unlocking with the sensor. No luck. Forget sensing my finger, it wouldn't even vibrate to indicate that an input was detected.
Tried searching for fingerprint sensor in settings. No luck.
Dialed *#*#2486#*#* for CQATest. Attempting to open the fingerprint sensor section resulted in an FC.
Performed a factory reset. Back to square one, still no fingerprint sensor. Initial setup wizard simply behaved like the phone has no fingerprint sensor.
All subsequent attempts to get it to work have failed.
I've been using pattern unlock, and while everything else works fine, the sensor seems to be unrecognized by the phone.
My guess is that it's a hardware issue, but I'm baffled by what caused it. I've been extra careful, never dropped it even on a bed. No water contact. It's stock, no sideloaded apps installed and bootloader untouched.
Google searches proved useless, as did a thorough search of XDA, Moto's forums and a subsequent call to Moto customer care.
Would anyone happen to have a solution? I've requested a replacement from Amazon, but it would be nice to have a quick solution handy if this issue crops up again in future.
Thanks!
check whether in the security settings you get a fingerprint settings. if not search in the settings searchbar for fingerprint. if nothing worked try installing a applock "applock" and try to enable fingerprint within them and try to unlock. an important thing is this one, try using a full screen app of your choice and tap fingerprint sensor. if it opens the softkeys your mobile is messed up with software, if it didn't open the softkeys then the mobile is messed with hardware. cheers

If the phone is still within the replacement window, get it replaced. Otherwise, you can:
1. Get it repaired at a Moto service centre if within warranty period (that way you won't lose warranty)
2. Get it repaired at a local service centre (only if warranty has expired and Moto is charging higher for the repair)

The fingerprint scanner on my Essential phone several weeks ago started operating very erratically. I sometimes have to put my finger to the scanner four or five times to get it to work. Sometimes it won't work at all. This happens with the two separate fingerprints that I have stored. And, yes, my hands are clean, as is the fingerprint scanner.
When my phone was new, the scanner recognized my fingerprint on the first touch every time. I have rescanned my fingerprints several times, but it doesn't help.
What would cause the scanner to have trouble recognizing my fingerprint(s)?
Well, a dirty fingerprint scanner was going to be my guess because that's what happens to me, but you already checked that.
Have you tried resetting you fingerprints? Computing is not an exact science, maybe this will help.
A factory reset would be my next try. OTA's tend to slowly break things.
If this does not help, I don't know what could be wrong software-wise.

I have done ALL the things you have suggested. Sometimes the scanner won't read my fingerprints at all.
Well, I poured all my knowledge in the previous post.
For the factory reset, did you use the recovery for it or did you reflashed the fastboot zip from Essential? Because if there's any corruption in your system image, reflashing would be better.
You should try to log what happens when you use the fingerprint scanner. As far as I know there's two places that could be at fault. The hardware that generates the signal or the gapp responsible for its processing (don't know what is, maybe play store). If there's a signal every time you put your finger, the problem is probably on the google side and should be fixable by someway. If there's no signal when the scanner fails, then it's a hardware problem.
I don't actually know how to log the fingerprint scanner, but you'll probably need root.
I found pressing my finger a little harder fixed the issue! ?
