One of the most popular custom ROM projects of the last few years, Paranoid Android lost many of its core developers to OnePlus in February 2015. OnePlus recruited them to develop its in-house, following its breakup with Cyanogen. Predictably, PA releases slowed to a crawl, with the last major release, based on Android 5.1, [coming out in July. In October, project lead Matt Flaming announced what pretty much everyone had been suspecting for a while – the Paranoid Android project was on hold.
Now the Paranoid Android project is back into the spotlight, with over a dozen new team members and a new feature-packed release that’s been nine months in the making.
Features coming in this release, some of them familiar and some new, include an improved floating window mode, immersive mode, on-the-spot controls for the behavior of the notification dropdown, a polished quick settings re-order mechanism, battery style, an advanced power dialog, support for Paranoid OTA updates, a theme engine, and support for layers. For certain devices, including OnePlus and Oppo phones, the release offers advanced features like an enhanced kernel, advanced gesture control, and support for the alert slider and fingerprints scanner.

Some revival. I flashed it and I'm stuck at the OnePlus logo. Apparently someone with a OP2 had the same problem and he fixed it by flashing the system partition before flashing the ROM. I did the same and my phone still won't boot up. Oh well.
I used both TWRP 3 and 2.8.7.0 and am also coming from an unaltered COS 13.
Same issue as @aarthyn. Wiped data, flashed it stuck at OnePlus logo. Used TWRP 2.8.6.1 and came from Sultan's Unofficial CM13 (6.0.1) May 26 build. Restored my backup and now it comes up with a SIM Card not found error.
Not happy.

Oh great, I was hoping that wouldn't happen. Looks like I'll have to do the full fastboot works to make sure everything's the way it should be.
At least I know it's not just me.

the normal way which we always flash was on cos 13 use twrp 3.0.0.1 and rom is ssly having dam slow charging thats the issue ! nothing else !
How to flash PA rom....
1. Boot into recovery
2. Flash latest CM nightlies (optional)
3. Factory reset
4. Flash PA rom and Bank's Gapps
5. Reboot into system
6. Setup your devices
7. Reboot into recovery
8. Flash SuperSu
9. Wipe Cache and Dalvik
10. Reboot into system
11. Done
Only PA rom and Bank's Gapps can be flash together....if you're planning to flash SuperSu or Custom Kernel you need to reboot into system first then boot back to recovery to flash them (wipe cache and dalvik after flashing them)....
People who are coming from CyanogenOS 13, check your partitions. They might be formatted to f2fs, which may be why your phones don't go past the bootanimation. Mine were formatted to ext4, and I had absolutely no problems doing a clean flash from SultanXDA's latest CM13 build.

wow there's a 6/8 build for the OPO already at PA!
You need to change your filesystems to ext4 before flashing the rom.Otherwise it won't boot. But I cannot see any customization in the rom!

Just flashed OmniRom beta 2 build together with gapps linked in the OmniRom thread and I get fc on first boot on both NFC service and one more android service something something - can't get passed the pop ups and a reboot into recovery is all I can do.
Wiped system using TWRP 2.6.3.2 and cleared cache after install - did another wipe after reboot just to be sure. I have seen this on other roms that I try to flash?
am I doing something wrong during the flash process?
Wipe (default twrp)
install rom and gapps
clear cache/dalvik
reboot
Tried different gapps with no success..
I tried to flash the first OmniRom (build 1) with the same problems and I also got CM start tutorial when I had flashed OmniRom?? So it feels like the wipe is not working as it should?

Got the Omni from

Others have succeeded using this so no clue what I'm doing wrong? I have flashed other roms, recovery works. Sometimes it seems like it is not wiping it all?

As this is far from an official build, you will want to direct your issues to the porter/builder of the ROM in that thread you linked.

Think I found the problem - a "default" wipe in twrp won't do it - I had to go in to advanced and choose "cache, dalvik, data and system" now it works like a charm! Good to know for the future..
So today I went from stock 5.0.1 to CM 12.1 Nightly (20160110) but gapps keeps crashing which makes my phone semi useless

Phone boots up normally, And after unlocking the screen a stream of errors emerges, Not sure if i'm using the right gapps or not

Did you by any chance use Opengapps? Opengapps is like a hit or miss. Some days they work and some days then don't.
Try these gapps:
http://download.dirtyunicorns.com/files/gapps/banks_gapps/
You need to perform a full wipe though.

I think you can try a complete boot before flashing Gapps. And try other builds of Opengapps like mini or micro(well or even smaller depending your "Google apps" usage)

Strange... because the symptoms shows like a mismatched gapps to cm... btw are you using the lastest TWRP?
If Yes try other recoveries. I used to use Philz until I bricked mine and had to flash back to stock and now I'm using a modified TWRP to enable dual boot.
If No then try update it and give it another try?

I recommend against doing this. The other recoveries are outdated and will give you problems. Stick with the latest TWRP.

I think that i didn't express myself very well. Yes it's advisable and strongly recommended to use lastest builds of any recovery available as stable build.
But once i had to use Philz to flash a MIUI ROM because TWRP 2.8.6.0 was unable to execute the installation script didn't know why and that's why i said about different recoveries, and oh.... I forgot to say that after successful install rollback to TWRP because it's pretty new , stable and more user friendly than others.(CMW and the rainbow Easter egg was fine but having to use vol and power keys..... NO THANKS!)
For whatever reason, team Vanir doesn't maintain an official thread in this forum, even though they have been actively developing ROMs for Z1c ever since KK. @Wind07 started his own thread, with his own builds and links to official builds, but has abandoned it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-vaniraosp-t2874690 I have been a fan of their ROMs since KK, so decided to post some links.
Vanir currently has 2 ROMs in active development for Z1c: Vanir ROM, (http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/amami/), and Commotio ROM, (http://www.emccann.net/dho/3-Vanir-mirror/4-nighties/), and here's their Gapps link - http://www.emccann.net/dho/5-Gapps/
NOTICE **** Latest builds of Vanir ROM do not boot. The last build that booted was 3/10, which runs great, but no camera. I've posted on G+ about it, and dev says looking into it, (https://plus.google.com/111931660643822970788/posts/MV7QYHVZr1r). I can't get the bootloop to show up in adb, so can't get a log. If someone else can, he'd appreciate it. Newest Commotio ROM boots and has camera.
Is this the recommend way to flash it:
Instructions
fastboot boot.img in zip (here is something missing I think)
boot to recovery
format system, data, cache and wipe dalvik
flash zip
reboot
flash gapps(optional)

Probably no need for all that. Just do a wipe, then flash ROM, then gapps, and reboot.
4/13 build is good. Still no camera though, (although it's interesting that if you set 'launch camera on button press' in settings, camera app opens, but with 'cannot connect to camera' message). I only tested it without Gapps, but don't think that would make a difference...

Thanks to your feedback I have added some extra steps to ensure that everyone can enjoy the GSI ROM
First of all I am not the creator of this ROM-GSI I only share it in the XDA community and give all the credit to @turbolukex5
You can download and try all of his work from https://sourceforge.net/projects/expressluke-gsis/files You can see all the work of him in https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-discussion/gsi-expressluke-built-gsis-t4003457
Evolution X 4.0 has all the extra features of the AOSP ROMs plus extra features of Evolution X and all the sweetness of the Pixel. Tested by myself, like Lineage is stable for daily use without any problem of any kind (obviously we all know that moto-mods don't work, only the moto-mod battery in default mode) when used in Moto Z. Needless to say, as you read in the title this ROM is GSI so if you want to try it you need to have Official Lineage OS 16 installed in your Moto Z before attempting to install the GSI image.
So let's go to the installation steps:
Steps when you are already in another GSI
1. Download the GSI image from https://sourceforge.net/projects/expressluke-gsis/files/EvolutionX/Ten/ARM64/A/ EvolutionX_4.0_ARM64A-10.0-20200112-2146-GSI.img.xz
2. Unzip the file to extract the system image and copy it inside your Moto Z
3. Go to TWRP and wipe Data(not internal storage) /Cache/System
4. Go to Install and change to Install image
5. Select the image of Evolution X and flash as system partition
6. Flash Magisk Canary if you want root, gapps already included
6. Reboot to System
7. Wait fist boot and enjoy Evolution X 4.0
First Install/Clean install
1. Install Official Lineage OS 16
2. Boot to Lineage 16
3. Reboot TWRP
4. Wipe System, Data, Cache, Internal Storage
5. Reboot to recovery
6. Copy Evolution X 4 GSI image to Internal storage
7. Go Install IMAGE and select as System partition
8. Flash permissiver_v4
9. Reboot to System
10. Wait first boot and enjoy Evolution X 4.0
By far the best GSI I have tested for our Moto Z

Extra Tips:

2. please, change this in the description "no gapps already included" it's not clear if they are included or not. simply state 'gapps included'
3. how long should one wait for boot? - for me it's on boot animation min 15 already.
3.1 currently can't pass boot animation (-05 china version of Moto Z)
4. is latest official twrp OK for flashing this image?

Thank you for your advice, I tried Havoc but the battery life was not ideal for me but it is still a great option. You need to use twrp-3.3.1-0 but I'm not sure if the official version works in the CN version. Already installed does not take more than 3 minutes to boot. Try to erase Data and flash Magisk.

Yeah, official 331 works just fine.
The case is it's 2 sim phone and aosp on this phone even has no sim up.
What do you mean by erase data? - format or factory reset or wipe?
By the way, which partitions do you backup in twrp for successful full restore?

I mean Wipe data partition where you have to write "yes" to wipe data. I had a similar problem when I started trying GSI everything was solved when I did a full wipe of System, Data, Cache then reboot to TWRP and install Lineage 16 afther that reboot to system and after full boot again TWRP and start to flash gsi, never had problems again when I want to try a GSI image I just do wipe cache and system and that's it
I do not make any backup I only make a backup copy of google that saves my contacts, photos, Wi-Fi networks, etc. and does not wipe data partition
Remember permissive and fixzygote are not needed for GSI builds made after 25th September

There is no mistake.

winrar work pretty ok
check the consequence above by author with format via "yes" - BE SURE TO BACKUP INTERNAL STORAGE BEFORE AS IT CLEANS IT OUT.
I have the same problem as you, only can get a life long boot animation. even though aosp 210 boots up (with no ril unfortunately).
but I have not tried to do it with yes-format yet. so, if you are up to it now, would be great to know if you succeeded.

Into the TWRP, folow these steps:
1- Go Wipe - Format Data (DON'T BOOT the System Yet)
2- Go Reboot - Recovery
3- Now you flash the System img. Be patient and wait the process. It can take 3-5 minutes, maybe more. (DON'T BOOT the System Yet)
4- Go Reboot - Recovery

Into the TWRP, folow these steps:
1- Go Wipe - Format Data (DON'T BOOT the System Yet)
2- Go Reboot - Recovery
3- Now you flash the System img. Be patient and wait the process. It can take 3-5 minutes, maybe more. (DON'T BOOT the System Yet)
4- Go Reboot - Recovery

I did so too.
All in all, I did a few approaches with different configurations.

0. Check the attached
1. Try to flash permissiver on it
2. Try to wipe data not from twrp, but from fastboot only
3. Flash can still be done via twrp
4. Please, post the result

OKAY, THIS IS HOW I BOOT IT (EASY):
1. system, data, cache wipes
2. flash lineageos16
3. boot and pass first setup
4. boot to recovery
5. flash image
6. flash permissiver V5 - with v4 there is no ril
7. boot
boots fast, a couple of minutes.

Excellent step, apparently if you have never installed a GSI ROM it is absolutely necessary to flash permitsiver_v4, I have added the step and works smoothly. :good: I realized that after trying JoyUI GSI from Vegazsd, (it works but with the bugs of the camera and gsm network :crying and when I returned to Evolution X it only worked after flashing permissiver_4
The guide is updated and ready for everyone to enjoy the GSI on their Griffin
I installed permissiver_4 before installing img. It is a pity that I did not know about v4 installation after and not before.
And all in all I still don't know if v4 is good or if you need to install v5.
I have a request if you donate something, try to follow the right order of installation because information chaos creeps in.
Thank you for the advice and best regards.
Today I will try again and if it goes wrong it fits
As I understand it is supposed to be pure lineageos16 without gaps and Google applications like that?
He asks now in detail not to err.

I recommend flash permissiver v5 as my ril was back only with it. V4 doesn't help
And I think you can skip data formats if you did it once.
I did only
normal wipes,
then lineagos flash
then boot it and first setup
then straightly flash img and permissiver v5
then it boots just ok and fast
Ah, yeah, and for me it's always best idea to reboot recovery after every operation. Because here and there I've seen it may fail to properly mount some partitions depending on the situation, which leads to errors while flashing
I have a request.
Which Magisk to install?
