Password entry while in stock recovery O_o

So i was checking out the Sprint GSII today in the sprint store and it had a screen lock password on it so i figured some punk put a password on there. I proceeded to go into the stock recovery to do a data wipe and get rid of the screen lock too check out the phone. I navigated too the wipe function, confirmed it then... IT ASKED ME TO ENTER IN THE PASSWORD WHILE IN RECOVERY! The a keyboard came up and everything IN RECOVERY
This must mean you can run apks while in recovery? Can someone confirm the same thing on other GS2 versions by creating a screen lock password and trying to wipe cache or data on the stock recovery?
Maybe other devices can do this too, but ive NEVER noticed it. Does this make GUI's for recoveries possible with touch enabled to eliminate volume button abuse? If someone can figure out how sammy is doing it, that is. Because as far as i know, running an apk in recovery just flat out isn't possible.
^ Teamwin stole my idea, which I am perfectly okay with
If you have an screen lock password set then you need to enter it when using the recovery option.

Yes, but this is the first time a phone has ever done that too me. How is a ime.apk running while in recovery?

I've only ever had HTC phones til this nexus, HTC phones don't do it
Why hasn't a dev ever picked up the idea for a recovery GUI if you can run have touch enabled in recovery?
I tried to put password on my device, the international galaxy s2
., went to the recovery without any verification passwords?

I think it's good if your phone has a password and it was stolen, then the thief can't just wipe the phone, but if you ever forget that shyt, stresssss

You have a custom recovery, I'm assuming so it wouldn't have a lock.
Even if the thief couldn't wipe it from recovery, Odin would anyways. So I think its sorta pointless.

Even flashing a wipe firmware with repartition will not get rid of the password prompt.

Use the pin unlock screen and set a unlock pin. After try to flash a new firmware or wipe the device from recovery.

Dude you're using a custom recovery. It only works with the stock one.
Would be nice if the PIN is only needed power on, then it would be a nice security feature. But having to enter it everytime I use the phone is kinda annoying.
Of course, i use pattern lock if anything. Less annoying.
But the main point im trying to make, is that if a keyboard can run, why cant there be touch enabled GUIs for recovery?

HELP! Can't get into device - wrong password after encrypting sd card

Okay, so I encrypted my storage last night. Today I rebooted the phone and it asked for a password as soon as it booted. I typed the password in but it says wrong password! Tried it countless times but I can't get into the device!
I have cwm installed but nothing I do on there helps either.
Please help! :/

Doesn't work :/ Still comes telling me to enter my pin or password to use the encrypted device memory
You're not using SIM PIN and phone password combination are you?
Also tried with SD card removed?

Ah, fixed it! Had to flash stock firmware via odin then go into stock recovery and wipe data, factory reset!
I have the same problem, encrypted the memory device (not SD card or whatsoever) and when i put my password it says "try again", i did a lot of methods, tried factory data reset (combination of keys), flash with odin (it passed the whole process fine, but at the end the phone still the same asking for a password) ..
What else can do? the password that the phone is asking me is not a PIN code, it is a password for ENCRYPTED MEMORY. My phone model is SPH L720T Sprint Spark for USA.
Thanks in advance.

Asking for password after flashing BL. Also no Odin seems possible.

Hi,
Got an Exynos S7E (GT935F) earlier. Wanted to update my BL after rooting and installing TWRP in order to flash a new ROM.
After that flash, my phone keeps on asking for a password (don't have, I used pattern + fingerprint) and I can't use Odin anymore. It detects, but doesn't connect.
What should I do?

Google password doesn't work in recovery?

Hey all. I'm trying to install the latest update via stock recovery.. and it keeps asking for a password but my google password doesn't work.
I recently changed my google password.. but neither the new one, nor the old one, works. any ideas? is there someway to refresh the recovery password from inside android or will i need to factory reset in order to get into recovery?

Hmm you would be correct I think. But what would it be if I never made one? I guess I am thinking of the Nexus 6 days when it would require a Google password before the phone would boot.

I don't think OnePlus has FRP integerated. It's probably encryption password. If you can't figure that out then you must wipe userdata. You must unlock bootloader first (type "fastboot oem unlock" in fastboot) then type in this code: "fastboot format userdata"
*This will delete everything. Pictures, files, documents, downloads.
Hmmmm okay thanks for the info man. I guess I'll just wait for the OTA lol
Try using "password". Without the quotes of course. I know that was the stock recovery password for the 1+3.

Have you tried using your lockscreen pin/password? Worked for me this morning.
I use a schema for lock screen protection and recovery asked me to re enter it.

Is this the password you put on the BIOS?
Edit: I have the same device. Great hardware, number of software issues.
