I've got a brand-new (Australian) P6810 (Wifi 7.7), and it doesn't let me boot into recovery mode at all. I can get into download mode with no problems (and so have been able to manually update to ICS) but without recovery mode its not letting me root the device.
Is it an issue just with mine, or are there others that have had the same issue? If so, has anyone been able to get around it by flashing a different recovery or something?
The issue is rather frustrating, especially since i had no problems rooting my i9000...
Your steps?

boot into download mode and try to install a custom recovery (CWM?) then you can root. you need to install recovery via download anyway
I've tried turning off, then holding Volume+Up and then powering on the device. It just then gives the Samsung boot animation. Turning it off, holding Volume+Down and powering it on goes into download mode just fine. I have made sure that USB debugging is enabled in the settings as well.
I've tried installing CWM recovery via Download Mode + Odin, and it still doesn't let me actually boot into recovery even though Odin says the flash worked successfully. In Odin i had "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" ticked, and put the CWM .tar file in the PDA field. I've tried CWM-20120710-p6810 and CWM-20120719-p6810 recoveries (found in other posts on here). I've also tried setting it to not-auto-reboot, and manually restarting and then holding Vol+up and it still just boots normally.
I've tried two builds of ICS (P6810XXLPK and P6810XXLPL), and when i tried going back to the Honeycomb (P6810DTKL5) that came with it, it just boot looped until i reflashed ICS.

Patience...
When you see the bootanimation, you think you lost.
Actually, keep holding down both buttons, device will shut down, keep holding, then ... voila your recovery.
You can click thanks now, then proceed with rooting and custom ROM's
power + up volume, let go of the power as soon as you see the samsung logo keep holding onto up volume until recovery boots
Yep that got it... i thought i had tried every combination of holding them, but obviously not.
Thanks all
As i suspect lol.

HI
I have the i9505 samsung s4.
I managed to root it via odin, and flashed the Team win recovery as part of the process. I downloaded root checker and it shows that the device is rooted.
However, when i turn the device off and then try and boot to the custom recover I am finding it impossible.
I hold the volume down, home key then press the power button and keep them pressed. THe phone keeps going to the odin download mode and no further etc. However, I can get to the custom recovery via rom manager. What am i doing wrong??
Using rom manager is fine, however if something goes wrong during a custom rom flash then i will need to use the buttons to boot to custom recovery
Please help

If you flash Philz recovery you can boot only when you turn off your phone and by Hold and pressing Power+Volumeup . Im Guessing your asking the Extended Power menu Option by Pressing Power and choose restart > There should be Reboot Option IE Reboot,Recovery,Downloadmode. Mate is your phone rooted? If you want an Extended power menu option try to install WannamXposed , and Enable it from there, Make sure to follow hes Tutorial. Have a nice day.

hi it is the same with both custom and stock rom. I am now running paranoid 4.4.2.
The issue is that I need an option to get to recovery using the buttons. There is no issues getting to recovery from the power menu once the phone is running
It is really annoying me now
Thanks
I tried to root my grand prime sm-g530h using the oding flashable file from https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin. I tried this version https://download.chainfire.eu/945/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-fortunave3g-fortunave3gxx-smg530h.zip to root my phone. I enabled usb debugging before rooting. Then backed up all my data. Then I went into download mode by pressing "volume down+home+power" and connected my phone to laptop. Odin was already running in administrative mode and it detected my device. I loaded the file using the ap button and pressed the start button.
At this point odin said "Reset" and my phone restarted automatically into the download mode again. and it got stuck there. nothing was changing in odin either, the last log was "Removed".
I searched for solutions online and one of them said to uncheck "auto-reboot" before starting. I did that. and this time odin said "pass". then I unplugged my phone and removed the battery and tried to go into recovery mode using "volume up+home+power" but my device keeps on rebooting itself. and if I just try to switch on my device using the power button it goes into download/odin mode directly.
I searched for solutions again and tried the following: pressed the "volume down+home+power" but when the warning came instead of pressing volume up(continue), I pressed volume down(restart), but nothing happens! it still goes into odin mode directly and is stuck there!
I don't know what to do anymore! Can anyone please help? I don't know how to fix it!
I have the same problem!! Please HELP!!
I tried to root my phone S7 Edge 6.1.1 just a moment ago using ODIN and CF Auto Root. I got the PASSES! sign in ODIN but upon phone rebooting I am stuck on the Samsung S7 Edge logo screen with text in red 'Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing" up the top.
At this time I am unable to turn my phone off, when I do it just turns back on and goes to the same screen. I can't get into download or recovery mode either.
Any help on how to fix would by greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Also thought I should add, my phone doesn't get registered when I connect it to my PC either, it wont show up in ODIN so I am unable to flash a stock recovery at this time.
It's trying to boot into recovery.
When you say you rooted with CF Auto Root, what did you do precisely? And did you follow Chainfire's specific instructions regarding the lack of screen output during the process?

Thanks for the reply.
I used CF-Auto-Root-zerolte-zeroltexx-smg925f.tar to root.
The steps I used was to simply put my phone into download mode and use ODIN to flash the file mentioned above. That is as far as I got unfortunately. I did this once before, a few month back when I first got the phone with no issues. I remember having to install TWRP but I couldn't remember if I did that pre-root or post-root. But I think that is where I went wrong.
Now I am unable to do anything with my phone. I can't turn it off, get into download or recovery mode. When I hold down VOL UP+POWER+HOME it just resets the phone back to the samsung logo screen.
Any ideas on what I could do?
You used the CF Auto Root file for an S6 Edge.

OH GOD. You're right. I just realized that. I was supposed to have them saved into their own folders but I guess I saved that one too the wrong folder.
So what does that mean for the life of my phone then? Is it toast or is it recoverable somehow?
What is your model? Is it the SM-G935F? If so, first things first, download the correct CF Auto Root file for your device (here) and try again. Press VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME and it should reboot into Download Mode. Then try to flash the correct file in Odin again.
These phones are very difficult to hard brick, especially with something like CF Auto Root so you should be ok.

Yes, it is a SM-G935F. Unfortunately I am unable to reboot the phone into Download Mode. When pressing VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME it just takes me straight back to the Samsung logo where it says "Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing". I'm hoping that once the battery drains completely I will be able to boot into Download Mode again.
Try simply resetting it instead. Press volume down and the power key (don't press home) for around 7-10 seconds. Once it starts to reset, remove your fingers from the buttons very briefly then press volume down, home and power to enter download mode.

That hasn't worked either unfortunately.
I just found this thread from a guy having a similar problem. He just had to wait for his phone's battery to drain completely and then he was able to enter download mode again.
You shouldn't have to though. If you can get the phone to reset at all (even if it's to make another attempt to go into recovery) then providing you time it right, you should be able to get into download mode. Did keeping your fingers on just the volume down and power buttons do anything? Keep them on continuously for up to 20 seconds and see what happens. Did you say pressing vol up & home & power made it reset and try to again get into recovery? What happens if, as soon as the screen indicated it's resetting, you remove your fingers and quickly press vol down & home & power instead?
Anyway, even if you have to wait until the phone dies, getting into download will be possible eventually. Then worst case scenario would be you having to reflash stock back. Or, as would be my preference, flash TWRP then flash a custom rom zip like Superman.
Just to confirm, I take it you selected OEM Unlock in dev options?

I have never had any trouble getting into recovery or download before so I know the method. But just the properly clarify for you I will explain some of the combination I have tried without success. Bare in mind the phone is constantly turned on and idles on the Samsung logo.
I have tried:
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME, the phone resets and goes back to the logo.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER, same as above.
Hold VOL UP+POWER+HOME, nothing happens at all.
Hold VOL UP+POWER, same as above.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME, release and repress all on black screen, just goes back to logo.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER, release and hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME on black screen, just goes back to logo.
and numerous other things like random combination to try and enter Download or Recovery mode, which have all failed.
Right now it's just stuck on the Samsung logo and staying there, taking forever to drain battery. I work in the morning so hopefully it is dead by then and I can get into Download mode.
Have already started download stock firmware in hopes that I will be able to flash it after.
Thanks a bunch for your help. If you think of anything else I might be able to try let me know!
Oh wow. 100+ attempts and I followed your last post about holding for up to 20 seconds. I was waiting ~5 seconds and releasing thinking that it hadn't worked.
Finally go into Download mode and will flash stock firmware and let you know how I go.
Thanks again! I owe you a cold one.
EDIT: Was no need to flash stock firmware. Just flashed the proper version of CF Auto Root and it worked. Again, thank you so much!
Fantastic. Hope you get it sorted.
On a side note, you have probably already tripped knox and you will have lost you OS data and possibly even what you have stored on internal storage. If so, I suggest you install TWRP, format data (you will lose everything with this but it removed encryption) and install a custom rom like Superman 1.9 from your external SD. It's better than plain stock and comes pre-rooted with plenty of other mods.

recovery is not seandroid enforcing
hello,
my S7 Edge was rooted with cf-auto-root and worked fine but after 2 monthe I've installed LBE_Security_Rel_6.1.1928_A1_DE_v5_signed and reconized the message device is not tooted.
I was not very clever and cofirmed the question "fix the root problem" I don't remember exactly the words. After that root was gone.
I've flashed the stock Fw G935FXXU1APD1_G935FDRE1APC3_DRE but I still have the message "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" after trying to root with CF auto root.
AP:G935FXXU1APD1
CP:G935FXXU1APD1
CSC:G935FDRE1APC3
Is there any way to get root again
Any help on how to fix would by greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Simply hold down Home + Power + Volume Down for 10-15 seconds - don't release when the phone initially reboots and gives the same error, keep them held down and download mode will appear. I have to hold for 11 seconds, a strangely unrounded number.
Hello Guys I have this Same issue Yesterday....... This happens when you flash outdated CF Autoroot. CF Autoroot Updated on 25/08/2016... Download it...
Fix for Stuck in Logo Screen
Just Click and Hold ...... Vol Down + Menu + Power Keys ...... DO NOT RELEASE. IT Will Restart. DONT release. It will restart again and you will be download mode.
i found this during the rooting process. its a bit different to older samsungs on the s7 / s7edge. YOU HAVE TO KEEP HOLD OF VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER until it enters download mode, which can be 20-25 seconds
Can I get some help? I bricked my phone because I was trying to install twrp. It flashed but I got an error where it reset my data, after data reset I was stuck at the boot screen with the logo
. I've tried steps like flashing stock rom, odin fails. (I feel like because of the reset my OEM got locked again)
I've tried smartswitch/kies, software downloaded but the phone automatically restarts when the software starts installing. It doesn't even detect my S8
I'm stuck at the bootlogo where it says Galaxy S8, I can't access recovery mode and also I checked on download mode, it says my OEM is LOCKED. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S8 G950FD.
please please help.
it happened for me with s6 edge forget to unlock oem and flash custom recovery but solve it by kies only
u need to install last Samsung drivers and last kies put ur device on download mode and put ur model on kies manually and let kies take the lead
it will work

Try this !
Prepare ODIN with the files CL + BL.
This worked for me this wait, my phone was like yours...
I Cannot turn phone off too.
There's a trick...
All the time you enter in Download mode, and hit Start in Odin, the Odin says "FAIL" and the phone automatic reboot.
The trick is..
When in "Download mode" Start and at the same time press and hold "Vol Down + Bixby + Power".
Odin says FAIL and it will restart the phone automatic.
Press faster and hold "Vol Down + Bixby + Power" to go again to "Download mode".
Press Start in Odin and be prepared to press and hold at the same time "Vol UP + Bixby + Power".
Odin will start to transfer the files... and after that the phone reboot again faster, just press and hold one more time and faster "Vol UP + Bixby + Power".
TWRP will start !
Hope it helps
Okay this one worked. It flashed. Great. But now IT STILL DOESNT BOOT. I'm stuck at NO COMMAND, it keeps restarting after 2 second of showing no command. and it's looping all over.
Note: I've tried reflashing the ROM again. It now fails, and the trick doesnt work, I've tried booting to recovery mode when its on NO command screen. It just restarts. Doesnt boot.
Having a hard time getting into download mode also. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. It just keep restarting.

Part 1 - HOW-TO FLASH TWRP:
1. In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
2. Go to Settings -> Developer options and enable OEM Unlock option.
3. Download and Install Samsung Mobile Phones Drivers.
- Option 1: Download and Install Smart Switch for PC.
- Option 2: Download and Install standalone driver package.
4. Download and extract Odin (Samsung's Flash Tool) to your computer.
5. Download a .tar image of TWRP.
6. Reboot your device to download mode.
- Hold [VOLUME DOWN] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] for approx. 15 seconds.
- Read the warning carefully.
- If you agree, press [VOLUME UP] to get into Download mode. If you don't agree, STOP.
7. Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot.
8. Connect your phone.
9. Hold [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] on your phone and then press start on Odin.
10. Wait for the phone to reboot. DO NOT release [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] or you may not reboot into TWRP.
TWRP: TWRP 3.1.1
* Exclude all with red and try the rest.

Thanks for your precious reply and sorry for not updating my previous reply.
Its done. Installed TWRP successfully!!!!!
Anyways thanks for your help!!!!!!!
I guess I have to join the club. I tried to flash the new Oreo beta and surprisingly I succeeded but I made a mistake of playing around with it's arrow pattern settings designed for older people. End result, couldn't remember what sort of combination of arrows I chose. It surprised me that I couldn't use my fingerprint to get out of the arrows, it's basically a pin or a pattern so I should be able to skip it with a fingerprint.
I've been trying two days now, got beyond the arrows problem. Initially I had the original recovery but in my great wisdom replaced it with TWRP so bye bye warranty, but I trusted I could handle it so that I could get back to Oreo but no such luck. Every time I manage to boot it says my data is corrupted and I can't use it. Tried flashing all kinds of Oreos and not Oreos but no luck so far. I even tried a trick #47 to format the data folder and then reflash it with the same stuff. No luck, I've restored backups and made new ones and I suppose it's time to say I don't know what to do. I got a bunch of APKs but I can't get far enough to use them.
My next operation is got back to nougat, but somehow I doubt it will get me through this so any ideas? If there was a way to make the phone like it was when I bought it - then I could make my mistakes all over again, I'm too stubborn to learn anything ever, besides, I'm almost forty and you can't teach old dog new tricks.
I don't have official access to Oreo, just tried flashing whatever I could find on xda mostly. Any and every idea is appreciated. has anyone invented a time machine yet?

Hey there sender, thank you for posting this as it did seem to help me a lot. I was having troubles getting to that menu and it seemed to be how you say it "bricked" as well in no clue how to resolve that. I had searched up almost two hours with no luck and doing other several other options in gaining to resolve it, nothing helped.
Looking at this guide this was something that seemed to only help and thought it was worth a shot after doing over several.. thinking in finally giving up and going ahead with a new device, but my luck.. it worked!
Again thanks for the guide, hope you well and to this community.
Thanks a lot
My phone is working now
Thank you so much!!!
Same problem, but odin stuck and it says "set partition" in the box on the right top..
thanks in advance

Pressing any key combination is not helping. Only VOL DOWN + POWER switches off the phone.

Try this !
Prepare ODIN with the files [Couldn't put due to just making an account.]

Is it possible you still have those files? I know it's been so long, but my phone is stuck in download mode or does nothing at the update screen.. If it helps, I totally forgot to turn on USB debugging before the last time my device saw life.

My S8 suddenly died and i made a lot of procedures to flash The stock rom.
