My S7 Edge starts warming ( until it is unbearably hot) on the right side of the phone - near the power button - when it is on Mobile Data (no matter if the Wifi is turned off or on) only. I've also had times where the phone becomes so hot, it tells me it's overheating; the only way i have found to stop this problem is to turn the Mobile Data off and operate solely on wifi.
The phone does not (as yet) get remotely hot/warm when on wifi and battery seems to be as it should be ( <1 % on standby etc) .
I've turned off WiFi scanning, bluetooth scanning, LTE connectivity (am on 3G/2G auto connect), and auto display brightness.
My phone's model number is SM-G935FD, am using only 1 Sim card and 1 SD card (issue persists even without so card)
Tried looking for others with this similar problem but couldn't find anyone else out there experiencing the same issues as me.
Any help on this would be great. Thanks!

I've done the cache partition wipe but the problem exists. A factory reset is the last option i want to try next to giving the piece back.

Have you weak 3g signal? Is there local roaming or 2 mobile radio towers?
If yes try forcing 2g or 3g.
I have the overheat only if I use 2g/3g or 2g/3g/lte automode at certain places, it got really hot 2 times when i forgot to force 3g.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Mine's goes hot even if i have strong 3g/4g/hspda signal.. it doesn't matter if i disable lte or not..
The most of the problem came from the exynos chip if you have with the exynos chip of course .

I used the notification bar toggle but i check in settings and its disabeled but still consuming my mobile data plan. I also try to disable it directly on settings but no change are made

Hm strange I would try factory reset
I fix it!!!! I enter un safe mode and everything was working fine and i realized that sometging were wrong with an app and it was DU speed booster with the engine + mode active in accessibility. I turn it off and everything it's fine now.
Can't disable mobile data
Has anyone else solved this problem of not being able to turn off mobile data? I have turned off mobile data in settings, wiped the cache partition, turned off background data on every app, turned off the automatic smart switch, tried it in safe mode and mobile data is still on. 4G symbol is greyed out in notification bar, but data is still on. Only thing that turns it off is airplane mode, which is not good as I cannot receive calls. I have read that someone with the same ptoblem did a factory reset and it was not the solution. My phone is a not rooted Note 3 running 5.0 lollipop with no updates available. I also tried SIM cards from 2 different providers and problem persists.
I have the same problem too

I used to have the same problem until I installed another ROM in my phone, in this case, PHRONESIS.
I never found how to solve it.
Hi guys, just got a new N6P. Aside from my screen, Android OS is rivaling its power usage. How do i stop this?
Are you on Stock MM 6.0.1 August or on Nougat Preview 5?

Try doing a factory reset
That will erase your internal storage, back it up.

@JustPlayingHard I have similar problem.
Got new phone last week, flased manually August OTA and now at night I get 20% discharge in 6h, see attachments.
Don't understand what's going on: shall I hard reset as well?

Do a factory reset, back up any important data and look for rogue apps.
EDIT: Disable WiFi when you're are not connect to an AP. That seems to be the issue.

But at night I am connected with my AP.
Have exact same settings and apps as my previous S6 Edge+ and that one had no such problem.
Thing is without root I am not able to further investigate.
I have no local data so no need to back up: will do a factory reset and restore from Google backup.

Did you turn off location scanning?
Disable location scanning
1. Go to Settings - Location
2. Click on three dot menu, select 'Scanning'.
3. Turn off both Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning
Disable Location History (in case u don't use it)
1. Go to Settings - Location - Google Location History
2. Turn off the one under 'This device'
Location scanning is already off, history is on but was on also on S6 without problems.
Actually if you have a look at screenshots to me it seems that phone is indeed in doze for 6h or not?
Talked to some other guys with the latest MM on stock no root, same problems. Android OS is eating heaps of battery other than screen.
I've got poor signal strength at my work place, thats causing my poor battery life too right? But then a couple of wake locks too.

Mobile signal is a big cause of battery drain sadly
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Mobile Signal affect the battery significant, for me my telco at certain area has really poor quality (why i said quality is because the signal has full bar, but the data could not even load), then the phone modem will goes warm as all apps keep on trying to connect cause the signal indicator is full.
The best way to found out is before u sleep, you put your device on airplane mode, then turn on and connect to WIFI, and check the battery left in the morning. Mostly Phone idle and Cell standby in the battery stat is caused by the cell signal.

If somehow you decided to root your device, consider to download NapTime as it force your device to goes Doze asap when your device screen off. Remember to tick the disable motion detection if you had ambient display activated.
When does Google usually release OTAs? It's an annoying bug with android OS when you don't know what's sucking your battery down.

No matter what Wi-Fi, I'm in, my phone always displays 3G next to the mobile signal for one second every few seconds... Is this just a display bug or is something wrong with my device?
I think it's not an issue. It might be due to some of your apps. I had seen some apps using mobile data for some small chunk of info even if wifi is on.

Didn't work for me... I also get quite the battery drain when I'm on WiFi and have mobile data enabled
http://imgur.com/a/tLvDt
After half of the day, you can see way less battery drain - I turned off data then
From one of the other threads, there's a setting in developer option that allows mobile data to be enabled all the time, even when on wifi. Maybe you enabled it by accident?

This is a known issue, ZTE will be fixing it on the Global version.
Hello
The wifi goes off after 4 to 5 minutes when the screen goes into standby.
Spotify, sidesync, ... cuts
Even the ping no longer responds
If the screen remains on permanently or the phone is charging, no problem.
In the settings, the wifi is always activated
No battery power
Testing on several Internet networks
Has anyone ever had a problem?
thank you

Same issue here. Noticed it happening some time in November.
SM-G935F, stock, on DTM firmware. I can say that the issue started after receiving DTM OTA for G935FXXU1BPJK in Novemeber, and has continued after receiving DTM OTA for G935FXXU1BPLL a few weeks ago.

Been there, Done that, Doesn't matter... I've gone in and reset that setting at least a couple dozen times, to no effect. I've also tried rebooting into recovery and clearing cache before and/or after resetting WiFi Sleep. Nothing has fixed it. Only thing I can think of doing next is a restore/wipe via Odin.

If it occurred after an update, and cache cleaning did not help, the next step is a factory reset or Odin flash due to bad installation.

I;n Also having this problem on my S7 Edge, tried a multitude of different steps including the powersaving features on an app by app basis, but nothing seems to help, even tried to get apps to force the wifi to stay awake but nothing has worked
Many phone have problem

i use this app

with this option "Decrease brightness to MIN" for not burn amoled
I mean, I'm seeing my Wi-Fi disconnecting and reconnecting seconds later probably every ten minutes or so. It's getting infuriating. It's not my home network, either, as none of my other devices are experiencing this issue. Even still, just to be sure, I've tried multiple reboots of my router, to no avail. Anyone else having similar WiFi issues?
I been having the same problem with wifi. It will be fine for a while and then randomly disconnects and reconnects. Im not sure what do do about it. Other than that, i have had problems with quick connect...cant connect to my tv anymore
Same

my wifes s7 edge does this but shes actually still on MM
I had the same issue. I performed a factory reset then used Smart Switch to re-install everything with the exception of apps. I had to manually select and install them (this was recommended from another post to avoid battery drain) and no issues again with Wi-Fi auto disconnect
I'm on AT&T and I have WiFi disconnects frequently. When the phone sleeps it always happens... And yea, I have the always on enabled.
.. Really annoying

Turning it off on mine fixed the issue. You may need a factory reset
