No matter what Wi-Fi, I'm in, my phone always displays 3G next to the mobile signal for one second every few seconds... Is this just a display bug or is something wrong with my device?
I think it's not an issue. It might be due to some of your apps. I had seen some apps using mobile data for some small chunk of info even if wifi is on.

That happened to me a few nights ago - all I did was reset the wifi router. It stopped after that

Didn't work for me... I also get quite the battery drain when I'm on WiFi and have mobile data enabled
http://imgur.com/a/tLvDt
After half of the day, you can see way less battery drain - I turned off data then
From one of the other threads, there's a setting in developer option that allows mobile data to be enabled all the time, even when on wifi. Maybe you enabled it by accident?

you can install greenify and see if it works...
This is a known issue, ZTE will be fixing it on the Global version.

When wi fi turned on the note keeps scanning. Even when i have connected to a wi fi network - it still scans for the other networks - which I do not want as obviously running battery time down. Also I do not want to delete the other networks because I am likely to use them again when in range.
are you using any battery saver software like Green Power or etc? Try uninstall them first...
I asked the same questions ages ago. The story is, it only keeps scanning while you are in that screen. Reason being even though you are already connected to a wifi, it might not be the one you want so it will keep searching what else is available every 3 secs.
It isn't a problem and it definitely doesn't scan any other place in android otherwise your battery won't be lasting as long as it is
Thanks guys for your quick reply. I an not using other software and I now feel reassured that when I am not on the wi fi screen the note is not scaning.
On a side note (no pun intended), I travel a lot for work. I ended up with about 75 saved wifi networks. I found it took longer and longer to lock into my home network when returning. After deleting 75% of the saved networks, the sync time improved?
Anyone else notice this?

Hi
Another observation is 'When I am connected to a WiFi network of excellent strength, I see down-up link arrow continuously blinking below the WiFi icon in status bar'.
My youtube videos are paused after every 5-6 seconds just because WiFi is still scanning for open networks which is not a user friendly.
Otherwise there is no merit of buying costly and fast android smartphones.
Regards,
I got the same issue and gave up. It is there with different roms and kernels. Battery drain is acceptable though. Suppose it is hardware related.

Hi
I'm currently having a problem with my S4 that is driving me mad.
Ever since I got the phone I've had a bit of a problem with the WiFi connection. I've flashed a few kernels and some seems to help the problem more than others but it's still there.
What happens is the phone connects to WiFi no problems. Then maybe after a few minutes of use the phone won't give me any data. If I search a Web page it just hangs and then says unable to display web page. I then have to knock the WiFi off and back and and it cures the problem temporarily.
Sometimes the WiFi connection can be fine and last a few hours without hanging. Other times it can last a few minutes. The WiFi icon always remains on the screen and the arrows act as if data is getting processed but nothing ever happens. The odd time it will also kick itself off the WiFi and reconnect.
It's driving me mad having to constantly knock it on and off. I'm missing WhatsApp messages for hours because of it also.
Is it a common problem? If not the phone
is still under warranty so I will have to send it back but then that's me phone less for god knows how long
Any help would be great.

if you are rooted, flash this http://www.adrive.com/public/8DJWtV/WifiFix.zip
its a fix that sorted out my wifi problems
I think you should revert back to the latest stock and reset your modem. There might be some fancy settings in your modem software that need to be turned off. I read that somewhere but can't remember which ones. Just search on here.:cyclops:
Hi guys, sorry I've just seen the replies and thank you for taking the time
I shall have a blast at both your solutions and report back.
Thank you again
Well I tried the WiFi fix but that hasn't cured my problem. Today I will flash to stock rom and then re-root and see if that makes a difference. If not its off for repair under warranty and the old Nokia 8210 will be coming out of retirement for a few days lol

May be a fix?
1) type *#0011#
2) press menu button and select wifi
3) turn off power saving mode
4) restart
Alternative
1) download terminal emulator
2) type ping google.com

Hi jehbrian.
I've never heard of this fix but I'm willing to give it a go (whats the worst that can happen lol).
Done the above and indeed you get to a point where Wifi power saving mode is on. I've knocked it off and will see how I get on in the next couple of days. It does make sense that the power saving mode could be killing the Wifi every now and again.
Thanks for the tip and have a pleasant day :fingers-crossed:
I had tried that one. It spends about 10% more battery.

Does it?
Surely there must be something else that can compensate for this loss if it means the Wifi actually works. GPS? Bluetooth? Screen brightness?
My phone is on my dock so can't verify the loss of battery.

I've never noticed the battery drain... besides, S4's battery life is bad anyway.

My Nexus 4 shows the same thing unless I actually turn off the wifi. I just leave my wifi on so when I come home it auto connects.
Weird minesays the same. I had my wifi off for at least 5hours

You have to go into WiFi settings and select one of the other features in advanced settings
TWEAKED 2.5
Because your WiFi radio keeps actively searching for an active signal unless you turn it off.

I believe the option in the advanced settings is "Scanning always available". If you turn that option off it should stop.

Simple, because the WiFi radio is on.
I have found WiFi battery usage to be very odd on the Note, at least Note 1. I used to have it turn off on screen off (settings default), but that caused battery drain. I then used Llama (Location Aware Mobile App?) to turn it off when the screen was off after a minute. Still drained.
I eventually left it on all the time I was at home or work, and it was much, much better. I guess going on and off all the time was the drag, or caused another issue.
I then used Llama to turn it off whenever I leave home or work, and turn it back on when I arrive. Happiness achieved.
I just drag down the notification bar and hit the toggle. One less active app to hog memory and battery...
Then again I also turn off mobile data when it is not needed. That spares me a full 4 days, and that's just on the s3. Imagine how long a note3 would last... (I'll know when my order finally arrives...)

Hello
The wifi goes off after 4 to 5 minutes when the screen goes into standby.
Spotify, sidesync, ... cuts
Even the ping no longer responds
If the screen remains on permanently or the phone is charging, no problem.
In the settings, the wifi is always activated
No battery power
Testing on several Internet networks
Has anyone ever had a problem?
thank you

Same issue here. Noticed it happening some time in November.
SM-G935F, stock, on DTM firmware. I can say that the issue started after receiving DTM OTA for G935FXXU1BPJK in Novemeber, and has continued after receiving DTM OTA for G935FXXU1BPLL a few weeks ago.

Been there, Done that, Doesn't matter... I've gone in and reset that setting at least a couple dozen times, to no effect. I've also tried rebooting into recovery and clearing cache before and/or after resetting WiFi Sleep. Nothing has fixed it. Only thing I can think of doing next is a restore/wipe via Odin.

If it occurred after an update, and cache cleaning did not help, the next step is a factory reset or Odin flash due to bad installation.

I;n Also having this problem on my S7 Edge, tried a multitude of different steps including the powersaving features on an app by app basis, but nothing seems to help, even tried to get apps to force the wifi to stay awake but nothing has worked
Many phone have problem

i use this app

with this option "Decrease brightness to MIN" for not burn amoled
I mean, I'm seeing my Wi-Fi disconnecting and reconnecting seconds later probably every ten minutes or so. It's getting infuriating. It's not my home network, either, as none of my other devices are experiencing this issue. Even still, just to be sure, I've tried multiple reboots of my router, to no avail. Anyone else having similar WiFi issues?
I been having the same problem with wifi. It will be fine for a while and then randomly disconnects and reconnects. Im not sure what do do about it. Other than that, i have had problems with quick connect...cant connect to my tv anymore
Same

my wifes s7 edge does this but shes actually still on MM
I had the same issue. I performed a factory reset then used Smart Switch to re-install everything with the exception of apps. I had to manually select and install them (this was recommended from another post to avoid battery drain) and no issues again with Wi-Fi auto disconnect
I'm on AT&T and I have WiFi disconnects frequently. When the phone sleeps it always happens... And yea, I have the always on enabled.
.. Really annoying

Turning it off on mine fixed the issue. You may need a factory reset
